Breakfast was awful! Cold and hard fried bread and toast. Eggs hard and cold, beans dry. The ladies behind the bar Tina and Amy were great and gave me a full refund. However I was not allowed to buy them a drink, as it is not allowed.

Disappointing Breakfast Visited after a work meeting and expected a freshly cooked breakfast! I was greeted by a very friendly member of the bar team by the name of Amy! Well what a pleasant first reaction to the place and surrounding area! A member of this team that scores highly on customer service in my opinion! Well it started of great but after a what seemed like fifteen minutes I was served my full English and I did not expect what looked ok but not what I deserved after the kitchen staff provided it somewhat late! Bacon was dry and hard , The beans were cold but reduced to what looked like lumpy orange wallpaper paste! Toast was cold and rubbery and the whole thing seemed like it had sat waiting under a heat lamp which turned the package butter into liquid? I was disappointed to say the least and didn’t feel like complaining as I was very late for my next meeting! Any way I was asked by Amy if everything was ok and I did mention my concerns to which she was very apologetic! Thank-you Amy ! If I could have waited my issues would have been rectified but like I said time was not on my side! My point is the front of house needs an Amy but maybe the backup from a decent cook or a shift manager to look after behind the scenes! I’ve seen this before in many establishments where front of house staff and back of house staff are mis managed by lazy shift managers! Anyway this needed to be said as Amy shone in her role but needs the rest of the team on the same page and not relying on her for the whole experience! Best regards

Hi I'm Natalie a local guide, my experience was a positive one at the Town Crier this evening, myself and my partner had a table booked for 6.30pm, staff were very helpful and friendly as soon as we came in to announce our booking we did online, we had a reserved table, ordered two drinks and were told we can look at the menu and order at the Bar when ready. My partner had Scampi ,chips and mushy peas, I had Sea Bass, herby mash and green beans, the food was tasty, like homemade and comforting, the chips my partner had were chunky fluffy and not greasy, and he loved his Scampi, I loved my fish, and my mash was lovely!we both had dark berry fruit crumble and custard, had another drink and left, just as the open Mike guy for the evening was setting up, nice chilled atmosphere with good music playing in the background, staff were so friendly we will both come back. Pub is based on corporation street in town, Monday is quiz night, Wednesday is darts, Thurs is open Mike and Saturday is live music. Worth a visit!

Good pub, only giving it a 4 star as to many 4 person tables taken up 1 person, but food was excellent, would definitely recommend the steak and Guinness pie.

This was our 1st visit on passing by while in the town. We saw the Sunday roasts advert on the board outside so thought we'd give it a try, even though we'd planned on going somewhere else. We were greeted and served by Ryan, who was friendly, efficient and helpful. But it was a shame there was only one choice of meat avail, however least that meant it was a good sign if popular The roast was very good the only negative was could have been abit hotter but was very tasty and home cooked. Very good value and presented well, would return here again but probably earlier but it was very relaxed and felt most comfortable in the surroundings of the Town Crier, so thank you for a great service!

I would love to give 10 stars for the food. I had a big daddy burger and I can honestly say I've never eaten anything so tasty, it was an orgasm on a plate. Ryan and Jordan were such lovely welcoming staff who made us feel at home. Will definitely go back again

What a lovely gem of a pub. The staff here are extremely friendly and professional. The food was really good value for money I thought, and the choice of drinks exceptional. I would most definitely come again and recommend this place to others. I had the Onion Bhaji burger, which was suggested to me by a tall lad with blonde tied up hair, and I wasn’t disappointed. 👍👍👍

Good value town centre pub eatery. Considering the cost it was nice food well presented. Reasonable selection of Gluten Free for Coeliacs. I will recommend and go back again.

Haven't been in the pub in years and fancies something different. Food was spot on and great value for money. I had a burger which I would go as far to say one of the best burgers I've had. My daughter have the roast dinner which again look really nice. Very friendly staff and great food. Pub was quiet which was nice for a lunch time.

Out for a late lunch with my dad and my niece, we struggled to find somewhere nice that wasn't too busy and had something we'd all like. Dad suggested Town Crier. It was quite busy but there were a couple of tables available. It was clean, service was good, food was reasonably priced. The food was OK. Good portions. Not something I'd go out of my way for, but would go again. Toilets were clean and well-stocked. Level access to entrance and toilets (but some tables up a step).

Went and had a Sunday roast here today. Place was nice and clean and the staff were extremely polite and helpful. I ordered the beef when it arrived it looked great. 2 slices of beef,4 roast potatoes, mash, green beans, carrots and peas in gravy with a very large yorkie on the top. Beef was lovely, roasties and mash were tasty. Carrots were over cooked as we're the green beans which I had to leave. The Yorkie was tasteless and I was not a fan of the texture. Gravy was very runny and tasted like washing up liquid. This should really be thicker and put in a jug so customers can choose how much they want. As I said the place was pleasant and I would try a different meal but won't be ordering the roast again.

Saturday evenings there is always a good band on playing rock music. Never be any trouble, fighting. Good music, good beer, a good time had by all who are there. Dancing the night away.

Cought covid here back in 2020. Great pub in the city center. When people think "a nice clean classic pub" they're picturing a place exactly like the Town Crier. Very friendly staff, warm atmosphere and good food.

We come in every Christmas Eve after shopping. Popped in a few years ago and Amy made us feel that welcome that we’ve made it a tradition. Popped in today for a sandwich and a quick drink, just to say hi. Great food great staff and Amy is a star ⭐️

Enjoyed an amazing roast dinner. Was happily surprised to learn that the roast dinners are home made. We had the pork option, very delicious! We will be back again next Sunday

Great place to have a pint, a good selection to choose from. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. We had a nice conversation with the manageress about the pub and she gave us some great recommendations for places to visit as we weren't from the area. Will visit again very soon.
