Food generally very good. Staff helpful and obliging. We had an issue with a damaged chair. This was swiftly replaced. I had the salt and pepper squid served with the most wonderful Chipotle mayonnaise dip followed by the salmon which was beautifully cooked and presented. My husband loved his spicy pizza. Sadly his starter was dissapointing but again, these things happen. I always think that when a problem arises its all about how the staff deal with it and they were exceptionally good. The site and location are great. It must be wonderful to visit on a warm summer night and eat outside beside the weir. Inside was good too.

The Saxon Mill is a beautiful place with amazing outdoor views, the service can be a bit slow and the food quality is a bit below the price. You are paying extra for the beauty of the place. The experience was great, the highlights were Vicky, an absolutely amazing waitress, and the beautiful view. I would highly recommend visiting during spring or summer. Be ready to wait and I wouldn’t trust big events or special occasions, but for a quick special meal is perfect.

Becky was our server and she worked hard to look after us all night. It was a Friday night very busy, on first visit for 30 plus years, the The Saxon Mill still looks impressive situated right on the river with lovely outdoor seating and a beautiful bridge to wander over. Our main course the lamb was very well presented, but please why so few vegetables. The atmosphere in the restaurant is suberb. We will definitely we returning before another 30 years. Again thank you Becky.

We stopped at the Saxon Mill on a Sunday evening for a Sunday roast whilst we were in the area. The pub had a lovely aesthetic, and ambience, and was relatively quiet for a Sunday evening. We sat down and ordered using the mobile ordering which was simple enough. The food was very good quality, with lovely tender beef and a nice selection of vegetables. We also had an apple crumble for dessert which was delicious too. The staff were friendly, but the service was a little haphazard, with things like cutlery not being offered or on the table. Overall, it was a lovely Sunday roast and I would certainly come back for another in the future!

OH MY GOODNESS!!!!!!! Its a 12 out of 5!!!!! Absolutely stunning!!!! We have know of the Saxon Mill for 2 or 3 years. So we have been waiting a long time to visit. Wow it did not disappoint AND SOME! We where stunned at how truly beautiful the business was. Simply gorgeous. The food. Oh wow!!!! We shared starters and they where sublime. Then I broke all my rules! Cheese does not belong on chips or a burger. I know I'm in the minority with that. But I just went with the Dirty burger. As it came. Boy oh boy!!!! Simply the BEST burger i have ever had!!!!! Combined with billionaire fries. So parmasan cheese, prosciutto and truffle oil MY GOD! Simply the most amazing things ever!! And again. Cheese and chips. Shouldn't work in my mind. Oh and beef dripping gravy comes with the burger. I'm not ashamed to say. I dunked the burger in the epic gravy and then the fried had gravy on them. Blew my mind. Cocktails where flawless. Staff, super helpful, warm, friendly, knowledgeable. We can hot wait to return! We would go back for dinner, if we where not so full!!!! Thank you to all involved. One of our truly special food days, ever!!!! See you soon!

Really nice experience near the river Avon. The building and the design is very nice and cozy. It seems that it is a part of history. Still, they are well connected to technology as the menu is per scanning a QR code and also ordering via the internet. Staff is nice. The food was good, with a nice plating. Beyond the restaurant there is a path were you can enjoy a long field walking. Also you can enjoy the small lake surrounding the restaurant. The wheel of the mill is still running for the visitors to see.

We had the absolute pleasure of working with Katie and her incredible team at Saxon Mill for our wedding, and We couldn't be more thrilled with the results. Katie's attention to detail was impeccable, and her ability to transform spaces was truly remarkable. From the moment we walked into the wedding ceremony room, we were in awe of how beautifully it was set up. Katie and her crew worked seamlessly to change the room into the wedding breakfast area, incorporating our unique centerpieces flawlessly. Timing was crucial, and they nailed it every step of the way. The transition to the evening reception was equally smooth, and our guests couldn't stop raving about the catering. Katie even came to our rescue with extra pens for the guest book, a small but incredibly thoughtful gesture that saved the day. What truly impressed us was the competitive pricing for the venue, considering the exceptional service we received. Katie also demonstrated her expertise in managing external vendors like the registrar, photographers, and DJ, ensuring everything ran like clockwork. In summary, Katie and her team at Saxon Mill made our wedding day an unforgettable experience. Their professionalism, attention to detail, and ability to handle every aspect of our special day with grace and precision were truly outstanding. We couldn't have asked for a better team to bring our wedding dreams to life. Thank you, Katie, for making our day perfect!

We had a really nice experience few day ago. It was super busy and they still managed to serve and care about us during the evening. We had couple of coctails and a nice dinner. We didn't wait for long even though it was so busy. Thank you for the friendly and kind service.

My wife has wanted to try Saxon Mill for about 3 year's, as she works within the company elsewhere. I have never seen the place before. But we have always lived too far away. Now we are closer, we just stopped in for lunch. To physically see the place. I was not ready for the sheer scale and beauty of the whole building and surrounding lake. It is spectacularly, breathtakingly beautiful!!! The menu was varied and very appealing. The Staff were attentive, warm, welcoming and knowledgeable. The food was stunning! Exceptional! I can rarely look away from a seafood option. But, for lunch. I had the burger. I don't like cheese or bacon in one. I had it as it came, with cheese and bacon!. Best burger I've ever had! My wife had the amazing fish cakes. But they were so much more. Cocktails were sublime. We can not wait to return for dinner and then time and time again.

First time back here in a couple of years and the food has definitely improved! Great pub overlooking the river and the food was really good, went for the 10oz ribeye which was cooked very well. Would highly recommend the beef dripping sauce to go with it

First 🌟 can't say enough about this place, authentic, old but new, great place for a first date, or regular meetings, plenty of out door seating, very romantic inside and out, great for large groups Second 🌟 friendly service, could be quicker. I don't like dogs indoors specially baking ones. The staff were running around as they were busy, friendly. No small talk Third 🌟 I love the building both inside and out, fire place roaring, it's an old mill the place still looks like it works, sitting on top of a flowing river, with small falls and an old wooden bridge. Very pretty Forth 🌟 we didn't eat a there was a 30 minute wait, the menu looked yummy,. The selection of beer was great. I enjoyed a pint Fifth 🌟 overall great place to go really enjoyed my beer with my girl. 👍 thumbs up, I would be a regular if I lived in the area.

Definitely recommend! Nice historic building (with moving wheel), green surroundings and tasty food. We celebrated a birthday here with a delicious dinner. Vicki our waitress was the perfect level of attentive and helpful, always just when we needed her. She gave us good tips on the menu and even offered us a dedicated vegan menu when she heard we were vegetarian. To top it all off, a surprise birthday message on the dessert because she heard us mention it was my wife’s birthday. Really thoughtful! Amazing evening and thanks again Vicki - we’ll be back.

Scenic Delight with Excellent Service at Saxon Mill Our impromptu Saturday lunch at Saxon Mill turned out to be a delightful experience overall. The restaurant offered top-notch service and served up delectable, fresh dishes that were a treat to savor. Undoubtedly, the restaurant's picturesque views and its charming interior décor create an ambiance that is truly captivating, adding a unique charm to the dining experience. However, it's worth noting that the prices lean towards the higher side. Nevertheless, the stunning views and the ambiance certainly make up for this. As a family dining out, we were pleased with the quality of the food and the attentive service provided. My children thoroughly enjoyed their meals, although I must note that the portions for them seemed a bit on the smaller side. While their choices were satisfactory, a slightly larger portion size would have been appreciated. The overall experience was enjoyable, offering a blend of excellent service, fresh cuisine, and a captivating setting. Despite the minor hiccup with portion sizes for the children, Saxon Mill remains a noteworthy place for a delightful meal, especially for those seeking a serene and picturesque dining setting.

A beautiful place in an idyllic setting but no longer a venue I'll be spending any money on food. Such a shame after 20+ years of coming here as a family. While the staff were lovely, they were set up to fail. Half the menu was unavailable and we had to fight for attention and chase multiple times pretty much everything we ordered. What did eventually make it to us, while nicely described on the menu, would be more at home at a Wetherspoons than somewhere with prices that would make a restaurant in Chelsea wince. The picture of the £18.50 burger attached is proof enough.. If you fancy a walk across the fields and a drink in a beautiful setting on a sunny day, go right ahead. Do not waste your time or your money on eating here.

Very disappointing food and almost non existing service. It's in a nice location for sure but everything else was pretty much a disaster. We ordered via app so orders go through at slightly different times. It took 17 minutes to bring our beers. While my friends received their Sunday roast to share I still haven't had my starter (olives and bread) which was 46 minutes after order was placed... No one from staff cared, no apologies, no info, nothing. Not mentioning no one checked if food was ok or if we want anything else. So getting to the food. The "artisan bread" was old, dry and really bad. The white one felt like the cheapest wheat roll you wouldn't give to a dog. The brown bread was just some bread bought in a supermarket. Potatoes and veggies in all our roasts were dry and definitely reheated multiple times so the skin was impossible to eat. Meat was cold. Yorkshire puddings overcooked, dark, hard, basically toasted. Gravy tasted like just fat. And it was indeed mostly just fat so it added no flavour to the dishes. You could equally just pour some used oil from chips. And all of that at higher than average price. We've spent there much more time than we wanted and definitely not coming back.

I wish I had taken a photo of our delicious food but none the less this is a fabulous place to have dinner! A big thanks to our server, Laura, who was wonderful! Even took a photo of all of us for my birthday as I was here visiting from the U.S. The location is beautiful, the entire staff so friendly and such a gorgeous view to enjoy dinner!

What a beautiful location, extremely tastefully renovated and with a working water wheel as an amazing feature 🙂 The menu is quite large which normally worries me about how it can all be fresh but there is nothing to fear here, the food is outstanding. I had the duo of beef roast dinner and the meat was beautiful, so tender and tasty. The roast veg was delicious, no soggy veg to he seen. Portion sizes were good, not too much. They do a great offering for pudding, a small portion of desert plus a hot drink so you don't miss out but don't feel overfaced. The only thing that let the visit down was it was very busy and the service fell short a few times but we were part of a bigger group so the delays didn't ruin the visit as we just chatted more. I'm sure on other days their service would be tip top. Overall still a brilliant place to go.

Me and my partner came her for the first time on Friday, we travelled 30mins to come here as recommended by a work colleague. We couldn’t have left more satisfied, the food was incredible and the cocktails even better! The scenery was also amazing. We were also given a complimentary glass of Prosecco each as it was our anniversary which I thought was a really lovely gesture. We will definitely be coming back!

Ideal location by the river if you can get a table. We were unfortunate and all the tables outside were reserved. The food was ok not great, we waited a long time for it too. I think if you came during the week it might be less busy and better quality, hopefully.

We went here to celebrate a family milestone birthday and expected better service if I'm honest as the staff required regular prompts ref our order = disappointed! The food was very nice although the half a roast chicken meals both myself and my brother had were extremely tiny but very tasty and well cooked. A lovely place full of character and with a varied menu so I recommend it if you want to enjoy a good meal , honestly the only thing we found frustrating was the service as it was not the best. If it was a cheap and cheerful then you make allowances but it's definitely not cheap so I expect a more premium level of service , still had a nice evening.

We had a really good time at Saxon Mill at the end of April. We decided this is the place to celebrate our civil marriage and we booked the private room to enjoy with our family and friends. We had great support from Katie to organise the day to our liking. Food was delicious and we had flexibility with our choices of drinks with the open bar. I highly recommend this restaurant, not only for private events, but for the great atmosphere, location, food and hospitality.

I would rate it a solid 10/10 for the location. It's beautiful with the revived view. Just nice to even walk around. They have indoor as well as outdoor seating. Coming to the food- it was really good in terms of quality, quantity and taste. They were packed the day we went so naturally the service was a little slow but the staff were really helpful and courteous. If you're coming here on a bright sunny day, make sure you make your reservations beforehand. Overall, a lovely experience, looking forward to visit again!

We've been here a lot over the years. Lovely location. Nice friendly staff. But sadly the standard of the food has been deteriorated every time we've visited. Especially for the price. The photo here is the £15 plant-based burger and fries, and I'm really sorry to say that the McPlant was much better at a third of the price.

The food we had was very nicely presented and delicious, but the small choice for vegetarians was made even smaller by non availability of some choices. Lovely location and trained staff, thank you.

Great country pub/restaurant in lovely settings with fantastic food. We managed to get a table outdoors by the river. However, maybe due to our location getting attention from servers was difficult. Food took long time to come even though the places wasn’t entirely full.

The view is amazing as you can see from the photos. I saw even people who were diving in the water. People who were fishing too. We've been ordering through the app and the food arrived in 10min. The food was very tasty and fresh. The staff was always paying attention to the customers if they need their table to be cleaned.

We booked ahead to ensure a table as we were 7 and have been here before so know how popular it is. Good variety of food on offer (with calorie info etc). We had pie, salmon, burgers, fish and chips. All food lovely, dessert has a 'mini-option' with a hot drink which is much appreciated by those wanting just a small pud. The mini eton mess arrived in a a teacup, looked so cute! Staff were so good and the setting is so pretty. Fully recommended.

Beautiful scenery as always. Sat outside upon balcony which was lovely and peaceful, friendly service and food was really good. One star away as didn't have original orders but I think it was because they were low stock from the bank holiday and also I found that the table code didn't work but might've been my phone.

This was the first time I had ever been here and I must say I was very impressed! A lovely pub/restaurant in a lovely setting. It will be gorgeous in the spring/summer. The food was delicious, albeit a little pricey..but worth every penny! The staff were very friendly and helpful. Took photos for us and attended to the kids. My sister's steak was spot on, just how she liked it. Sorry I didn't take more photos of our food ☺️

Great country pub with a working water wheel. This place oozes character with a modern sheen. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and has a good sense of humour. Menu was varied enough that everyone picked something they liked. A full allergy version of the menu is available on request, but not many meals could be converted to allergen-free (e.g. no gluten-free buns for burgers). Food tastes great and tasted great. As such, prices were not the cheapest but would be worth spending as a treat. In the summer, views across the water outside would be great too.
