👍👍 We visited on a Sunday with my elderly mum. They sat us at table convenient to the disabled toilet. All easily accessible with slopes. The chef adapted our order to suit my mum's requirements. All the food and drink was delicious as with other visits. The staff were incredibly helpful. A rock solid... Brilliant Sunday dinner. Slightly disappointed that the bar staff slammed the meal down on the table which spilt the food on the table

The young man that served us was lovely. We ate here and loved it so much that we have been back several times since. Gorgeous old little pub with a fire. Sunday dinner was excellent, but my favourite is sausage and mash.

Food was amazing! All homemade and made to order and simply fantastic. It was quite busy though and the restaurant was full so service was a little haphazard. We were asked if ready to order food within few mins of getting there, but had to ask for drinks and then she didn't come back for our food order for quite a while and we had to call over. No refresh of drinks offered until we ordered dessert. But they were friendly when we asked how long it would be and made a point of making sure we were updated after that. Overall, happy to go there again, but will make sure it's a chilled lunch and no deadlines. Happy to have an afternoon off in this quaint pub with delicious food though! 🙂

Unfortunately worst service I have EVER encountered by far. Part of order didn’t arrive despite chasing, wrong pie served. Drinks, sauces not provided. No knowledge of menu and no interest in customer service whatsoever. I wouldn’t recommend. Spoiled my evening. 10% Service charge? Got to be kidding me.

My husband had the mixed grill and when asked how he’d like the steak said medium rare. He ended up with all the meat including the steak tough and very chewy apart from the sausages. My meal of hunter’s chicken was no better, so much so I only ate the chips. When we mentioned this to the landlord we didn’t even get an apology and still had to pay the full price considering we both left practically all our meals. Wouldn’t recommend to anyone, certainly will never go again and the landlord needs to work on his people skills. If I could rate it with zero stars I would’ve done.

Food was lovely. Pub is old and also lovely. Bar/waiting staff not so lovely. Ordered our meals and not even given the chance to order sides as the landlord snatched up the menues and walked off without a smile or a thank you. Enjoyed our meals but won't go back 😥

Sunday lunch, 14/05/23. Taken hear for Sunday lunch. Tables far too close together, very uncomfortable for all diners. Food not bad but legendary gravy was like water. Waiting staff are extremely young and inexperienced and have no customer service skills whatsoever. Very dissatisfied with the service we received and to that end we won't be returning. NB, to the owner! When your paying top buck for food you want top buck service, not children serving you, especially those who have no customer service skills.

Nice pub that's more for 'the locals' Friendly atmosphere and reasonable prices. Dog friendly but I assumed it would be by the name. Quirky layout and 'cosy' seating. Not too bad I'd say. Worth a visit if your passing by.

First time visiting the Blue Pig and wasn't disappointed. Food was excellent, hot, plentiful and cooked just how we had asked. Choice was fabulous and the desserts were to die for. Great service, we will definitely be coming back.

Lovely food but be careful if you want to double up on a child's meal, as this blows the waitresses mind. What I actually got was a child's meal and a starter portion, meaning my child got less food but I was charged more! Work that one out.

Went for Sunday lunch last week. Really tasty all round. One beef and one turkey roast. Meat was incredible!! Roasties were amazing! One steak, ale and Stilton pie which was really good too. 2 rhubarb crumbles and one cheese board. All enjoyed!!! Definitely will go back again! (Only thing would be to check if the table wanted any sauces before moving on to the next table - it's so busy on Sundays we were half way through before we could get someone who was free)

Great sized portions. Hubby had steak and Stilton pie and it was scrumptious with gorgeous big chips. I had the blade of beef and it melted off the fork. Loved the fact there is a menu for your dog friends - brilliant. Lovely service and a great pint too, what more could you ask for.

Sat outside in the garden enjoying the sunshine. It was really nice that most of the meals could be ordered as half size portions...brilliant idea! Even the half size were very generous! Try the faggots and mash...yummy 😋

Terrible Experience. We have been here on numerous occasions and previously reviewed The Blue Pig. I have now updated my 5star rating as the experience on this occasion fell far short of an acceptable level for that rating. When we walked in there was no greeting from any of the staff although they didn't look busy, we sat down at a slightly sticky table and commented on the fusty smell. Nobody came to the table although it was supposed to be table service, we had to ask for menus which were eventually dumped on the table, we were NOT asked if we wanted drinks and she was gone quicker than she came. A few minutes late she came back to take our orders but as we were not quite ready she raised her eyes and walked off. When our food orders were taken (without writing it down) a steak 'well done' with a pepper corn sauce and a chicken tikka to which I was asked 'if that was the curry? We were NOT asked if we had any Food Allergies. When the meals arrived the steak was charred around the edges and had a miniscule piece of grilled tomato and an onion ring which was under cooked and the pepper corn sauce was just like beef gravy and very salty. The Tikka was pieces of chicken in a watery orange liquid and the popperdoms were so salty as to be inedible and the rice was sticky. David the owner did come to the table to ask if everything thing was ok but wasn't interested in putting anything right or apologizing but did say ' I'll let chef know'. This was a special occasion which is why we had returned to The Blue Pig with high hopes for food and service that we had come to know before Covid lockdown. We would have had desserts and drinks and probably coffee just like we used to but we just wanted to make a fast exit so paid at the bar as we had not yet had the bill, he still made no attempt to acknowledge any of the issues. I expect to become a 'key board warrior' now I have expressed my findings in writing for others to read although David was given the opportunity at the table to improve the situation he appears to be out of his depth when dealing with constructive criticism. This is my personal findings and disappointment. We will never come back whilst under this ownership.

Been here few times, food has been good, decided to book for Christmas Dinner for 4, 1 member was unable to attend, due to being in hospital. 3 of us decided to still go as we'd paid £75.00 a head. When we got there, the 4th table setting was removed, ie the cracker, xmas pud chocolate, the place did not have that Xmas feel.... we asked if we could have a doggie bag for the person who couldn't attend as the food was pre ordered, and though we could take it to the hospital. We got told that they couldn't pack the soup, which was fine, we asked if they could pack the main and pud, the waitresses didn't look impressed, we didn't push any further, 1 member had ordered the salmon which when served, was served with, mash, roast, and boiled potatoes, says it all, overall the meal was dreadful, the experience was even worst. definitely feel ripped off. Oh and all they packed was a small portion of pud, which we binned, was too shameful to take to the hospital. Oh the person in hospital had no complaints about the xmas dinner provided by the hospital, they even provided pigs in blankets, stuffing etc, we didn't have any of that, as we only got meat, veg and gravy.☹️

A great pub with an old fashioned atmosphere. There was a great choice food was above average and very tasty. Most of the staff were very attentive and friendly. The addition of a few real ales would make the place perfect.

Went to the Blue Pig for a family Sunday Roast today, it was one of the best roast I've ever had. Really good portions and the service was great, very prompt and friendly. Nice atmosphere too. I'd certainly recommend it.

Haven't been to the Blue Pig, in over 12 years. It looked exactly as I remembered it, which was not a bad thing. Well kept Green King beers and a good menu. Portions were healthy, we certainly didn't go hungry.

Visited for Sunday lunch (26 June I think) with my parents, brothers and niece. The pub has a lovely atmosphere, the service was fantastic (we had a lovely waitress who had just returned from holiday, apologies I forgot her name) and the food was tasty. Could have just had a splash more gravy on the roasts 😋. It was our 2nd visit within a few months, and we will come back when I visit the area.

We waited over 45 minutes for our food to come out and it was quiet in there. I found the roast disappointing that tasted overdone. Quite pricey for a roast you don't enjoy. The creamy mash tasted like you was eating a block of butter. I wouldn't go back in a rush which is a shame because it is a nice cozy little pub within 10 min drive from us.

Popped in for a meal as we were in the area and Google maps brought us here. Great selection of food, great taste and good choice of beers! Decor was a bit tired, still had all the stuff in place from the pandemic and doing out sales etc - just needs a tidy up and a bit more light.

IT WAS DREADFUL! It was poor and I got cranky because the staff were impolite and mardy and the food was cold most of the time or just rock solid and uncut able and dreadful And when one of my family members asked for yet another Yorkshire pudding after 2 before the staff member was moody getting another one

Food was excellent however manner of the older gentleman running front of house was dissapointing. Was rushing us at our table then said they were to busy to serve us a coffee with our dessert. Shame as the rest of the staff were lovely.

We have just been for an evening meal, I chose Lasagna, the first dish the waitress took straight back, the second was no better, it had half an inch of partly cooked cheese on top of meat, maybe a slice of pasta. As it was my birthday I was very disappointed and won’t be going again.

Went for lunch at the Blue pig yesterday and we were very disappointed. My vegetarian lasagne was mainly made up of cheese and pasta. The gentleman that runs the pub stood outside having a cigarette and then served food. Didn't seem to be any proper waiting staff. Won't go back which is a shame as it used to be a lovely pub.

Came across pub one evening, quaint old fashioned beamed with lots of character. Was very busy but the welcoming staff sorted a table. Ordered the steak and ale pie without doubt it was the best steak pie we've had in a decade. Full of tender meat. If only it wasn't 90 minutes drive away 😩

Nice old pub but always felt that we had annoyed the landlord somehow. Also, there seems to be stuff everywhere, maybe ths is temporary. Nice old building, good food, particularly the Bacon, Brie and Cranberry sandwich, best I've ever had (no joshing), char grilled bacon, gooey Brie and cranberry sauce on the side, excellent. If I was reviewing just the sandwich it would be 5 stars.

Absolutely wonderful little pub, reminds me of home being from the countryside. Maybe a little pricy but it is worth it for the fresh food and full plates, don't know anywhere else to give you your money's worth in food. The staff are really kind and helpful, there seems to be a nice selection of dogs to pet too which is always a bonus! A real community pub and a little gem in such a wonderful village!
