Having visited a few transport museums I can honestly say that this museum is in the top 3 in the country. Children and adults will love this place, packed with history very well laid and out easy to navigate. Parking nearby in Bishop Street I paid £4 for 3 hours. I can highly recommend this Museum and the nearby Esquires Coffee shop. The staff were great.

Not a bad transport museum at all, some nice exhibits, all well laid out and lots of different vehicles to see. It leans heavily on the historical aspect of Coventry being a major producer of transportation. The entry fee is worth the £11 it costs and the ticket is then valid for a full year. There is also a very nice cafe at the main entrance and a decent shop also.

Lovely experience. The staff wore extremely friendly and helpful. Amazing car collection. Definitely recommend. It's a must see. I traveled 1 hour for this experience. Parking around the museum is a bit hard but with google maps you should be able to find somewhere to leave the car.

We visited Coventry as we had some things to do and someone recommended this place to visit. So grateful to her xx, it's a Fantastic place for all ages! So much history, the videos are following from where the previous one left. Kids get excited about it too, there is a place where the little ones can do activities and so much more. We'll definitely be back

A great museum, very much changed from my last visit (when it was free). Well laid out and presented although some of the information boards are rather dumbed down. A nerd like me would like more technical information. The Land Speed record section is great and we enjoyed the Thrust SSC simulator although the presence of Bloodhound is a little poignant.

Wonderful, interesting and exciting experience that I will for sure re-do at some point this year! The tickets are valid 12 months from when you purchase them and it is possible to visit anytime. Their hours are available on the website, but I believe the museum is open on Bank Holidays too!!! I have to say that what we saw was astonishing and took us back into the old times, it was a sensational feeling and the 1800/1900 vibes are enjoyable. Another visit is due as I believe there is so much to learn and explore inside the museum that I did not read and understood much in my previous visit. I definitely am interested in what made this city, Coventry, the city it is today.

Lovely place to visit, so much knowledge to learn about Coventry and the history of all sorts of vehicles and transport. Hands on activities and informative exhibits. The whole history of transport all laid out in a really enjoyable journey of time. Great disabled access and toilets, reasonably priced cafe and decent gift shop with something for all wallets, they even do a pocket money bag for 5 pound including a variety of items. Every single member of staff were happy, polite informative and helped us out loads, from showing us where the lift was to telling us how to use the penny press machine, nothing was too much trouble. With the 12 month free return ticket included in the entry price this place is a bargain and needless to say, we will return. Highly recommended. Thank you for a great place to visit.

Museum is focused on locally produced transport and just the right size to walk around easily in 1.5 hours. I'm a Jaguar fan, hence the pictures, but there are plenty of other manufacturers represented, many of whom I've never heard. The museum is laid out in a time-line and is well worth a visit.

I had such a great time here I last visited over 20 years ago and things have changed for the better. If you have a spare hour or 2 free I'd recommend you pop in to the transport museum. It takes you through the ages from bikes all the way through to modern cars and to the world's fastest car. It focuses on the vehicles built in and around Coventry and the amount of vehicles on display is amazing. I also went on the bloodhound simulator which was an interesting way of explaining how fast it went. A really good day out especially if you have been before or haven't been for a long time.

Great museum that details the United Kingdom's transportation history. It starts from the coaches to the penny farthings all the through the early cars at the beginning of last century, to the modern speed and sleek designed vehicles that are world famous. Some of the fastest cars are here. Great experience for those that are not even car made as well.

The Coventry Transport Museum, located in Coventry, United Kingdom, is an excellent destination for anyone interested in the history of transportation. The museum is spread over multiple floors and boasts an impressive collection of vehicles, including cars, buses, motorcycles, bicycles, and even a fire engine. The museum is well-maintained, and the displays are interactive, making it a fun and educational experience for visitors of all ages. One of the standout features of the Coventry Transport Museum is its focus on the city's rich automotive history. The museum houses exhibits that showcase the city's contribution to the automotive industry, including the birthplace of the British cycle and motorcycle industries and the home of the famous Jaguar car company. In addition to its impressive collection of vehicles, the museum also offers several interactive exhibits that allow visitors to experience what it's like to drive a car or ride a bicycle. There is also a 4D simulator that takes visitors on a virtual tour of Coventry, highlighting the city's rich history and culture. The staff at the museum is knowledgeable and friendly, and they are always happy to answer any questions visitors may have. The museum is also wheelchair accessible, making it accessible to all visitors. The Coventry Transport Museum is a great value for money, with free admission and plenty of parking available nearby. The museum is suitable for families, history enthusiasts, and anyone interested in transportation. It's a must-visit spot in Coventry, and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting the city.

I was coordinating a wedding celebration here in their private room upstairs and took a look around the transport museum whilst there. Very busy with all ages, in a good way, and the staff were very helpful throughout the day whilst setting up the room. Great coffee from their cafe too!

This museum is really good. Even for kids you have so many fun activities or games to play with. As an adult i would say i really enjoyed here with my husband. We were here for nearly 4 hours. It has so many old cards that are just stunning. The price of the ticket is okay because you can visit it multiple times over an year. Staff is nice and friendly if you need help. There is 4D show at the end which is around £3 for a ride and its good experience.

Wonderful experience, we did book the santa sleigh ride for the grandkids too. Very well laid out, very interesting for all ages. Didn't realise until we got to the museum, it's deep in the city, poor parking, in fact we ended up with a parking ticket. But that did not detract from a really good few hours here.

Massive collection of classic cars, bikes, and motorcycles, with detailed historical context and information. Focus is on locally manufactured exhibits, but plenty to see. Separate sections for commercial vehicles and the history of Jaguar cars. Well worth visiting if you are in Coventry City centre.

"Coventry Gem! Don't miss this spot where history and the motor vehicle world collide. Learn about Coventry's past and the incredible evolution of cars—all in one place. Surprisingly, the best vintage cars were born here! Plus, score free entry with a valid Go CV registration. A must-visit!"

Book online as its cheaper than inperson. It is cheaper if you live local(ie have a CV postcode). Visited on Sunday the 19th. Not many people around. A great variety and range of local manufactured bikes from 1800s to modern day. A very wide variety of cars. which even the other half who isn't a "car" person enjoyed looking at. Both of the land speed record cars are currently housed here. There is also a simulator of a land speed run for 3pound per person. I thought it was worth it for being able see/feel/hear what the pilot is put through.

One of the best museums to take kids to. Had a wonderful time. The highlights of the museum are the Thrust SSC and Thrust 2 that are both engineering marvel. The Thrust SSC simulator 4D experience is good that talks about the history and then takes you to the ride. The museum tickets are valid for a year so that's a bonus.

Went here for a visit as a treat for my hubby, as he loves old cars, bikes, buses etc. Was not disappointed, so much to see, toy models as well. World war display very good, army vehicles, and an old garage set all added to the day. Had a coffee at lunchtime, then went round again for a second look. You need at least 3-4 hrs to do this museum justice. And even better, the tickets last for a whole year, so you can return again when you feel like it. Memories, old cars, and out of the elements, for a nostalgic day you would be hard pressed to beat this.

Always a good place to visit, it doesn’t matter how many times I go, I always spot something I didn’t see before! Been bringing my son here for years and he loves it too, even though he’s ten now. Great range of vehicles, old and new, a few concept cars and all round classics. Lots of information about different vehicles and how they progressed and some hands on stuff around the place too. It’s changed so much over the years, but there is so much more there now, than there was previously and even then, there was quite a lot!

Great museum well worth the money tickets last for 12 month's so you can go back and take it all in again. Covers transport in Coventry not just the exhibits but the history of Coventry and the people who made it great and the place it is today. The museum seems to go on forever just when you think it's done there's more from toy car's to Thrust SSC the actual one or two land speed vehicles. Make a day of it get there early so you can visit the cathedral and the music museum which I missed so I'll be going back see there.

Great museum right in the city centre. Covers everything from bicycles to record breaking jet cars to future tech..Well laid out and plenty of room. Very enjoyable. Well worth a visit

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit here. The museum is well laid out with clear information boards explaining the progression of different types of transport (bicycles, motorcycles and cars) over time. The 1930's Art Deco section was a real highlight with some beautiful looking car designs. The Coventry blitz interactive section was also really powerful. Going through the model car display, Jaguar Heritage section and Land Speed Record sections (Thrust 2) my son suggested that this place goes on forever. In a good way - it's an extremely comprehensive museum and I foresee we will use our "visit as many times as you like during a year" ticket often. Cheers.

I wasn't expecting a lot but I was very surprised. The presentation of the museum is fantastic, a lot of effort has been put into presenting the cars and it really transports you back. Also to see all 3 land speed record vehicles in one place was great.

Fantastic museum, mainly devoted to British motor industry. The exponats are arranged chronologically with plenty of educational films. Great for the whole family. Reserve minimum 3-4 hours, but for moto fans the whole day! It is suitable for disabled users (lifts available). Carers come free - you cannot book carer's ticket in advance online but there is no problem to get one at the ticket desk. Our gift aided tickets have been upgraded to a year pass. There is coffee shop at the entrance, but inside there is picnic area next to the camping and special vehicles section. It is much larger than London Transport Museum and devoted mostly to motor industry, not to public transport. Worth to plan a day trip to see the world record breakers! There is a decent Britannia Hotel just opposite with large, reasonably priced family rooms. Closest parking is on Bishop Street with very reasonable rates £3-5. Highly recommended!

Very enjoyable afternoon. Surprised to see my dads first car...pretty in blue and yellow where his was black...the London style cab...but my Humber super snipe in 1968 I thought was great but to see earlier versions...wow.

We took our four year old grandson there and he loved it! It's quite a lot of walking, but so much to see and we took our time. They have everything there relating to bikes, motorbikes, cars and early city transportation. They also have a couple of military tanks and fire engines. At the end of the tour are the customized cars that broke the land speed limit. Brilliant. Nice coffee shop can be accessed when finished for coffee and something to eat. They even have kids meals.

A large museum, very modern and really well laid out, with directional arrows in place to make sure you don't miss anything. A lot of bicycles, motorcycles and vintage cars on display along with a few commercial and military vehicles. I wanted to see more from the 70's and 80's however, and I was surprised there weren't any of the iconic British Leyland cars. Still, the huge, record breaking land speed vehicles, were a real highlight at the end. Finally the cafe served really good coffee and the museum staff were very friendly.

Excellent museum for anything related to the manufacture of bicycles, vehicles etc in the Coventry area. Could do with some new exhibits - doesn't seem to change much from year to year. I estimate you need a good 3-4 hours to encompass everything .... I'm on my third visit ! (but only spent 90 mins). Current adult cost on the day £15.50. Ticket valid for return visits within 1 year. Believe discounts available for CV postcode residents plus the usual senior citizen etc prices 👍 thanks to the museum staff x

This place is bigger than I thought it would be. It's around £14 entry fee. It's starts off with early transport, like early bicycles, then the first cars and so on. You can learn about Coventrys car manufacturering history. If your into cars, this is a good place to kill 2-3 hours.

Visited a couple of weeks ago while I was back seeing my family, me and my father went on a Sunday which by happy accident is only a pound to park all day in the public parking behind the museum, I would do a Sunday early as parking was pretty full as we left. We both thought it was a great museum well worth the money tickets last for 12 month's so you can go back and take it all in again. Covers transport in Coventry with a wonderful mixture of all vehicle's but, also the history of Coventry and the people of the city. The museum is nicely laid out has a lot of content, ranging from toy cars to 2 land speed vehicle's, there was when we visited staff member with the land spped vehicles who would answer questions about Thrust SSC which is the holder of the record now. We spent a good 2-3 hours and was well worth the visit.

  • 5/5 Juan B. 1 year ago on Google
One if the best museums of transport even been. You could find from bikes, to motorbikes, a lot if cars of different ages, some Royal state vehicles, some war vehicles and buses, the Jaguar exhibition and some racing cars. Also you would find some works from Coventry university. Note that the entrance might be a bit expensive but if you are local ask for the CV card that would allow you to entry by free. If you really love cars, leave free at least 3h of your time to see the entire museum properly and take some pictures.

Came here for Santa Sleigh Ride which was a fantastic experience. I grew up going on it and now had the privilege of taking my own child. The elves were lovely and stayed in character. Santa was very chatty with us and friendly. Choice of gifts could have been better - nothing for babies so we took a book for when he's a bit better. The winter wonderland lights etc while waiting to go in was great. Museum itself was lovely and has been redone since we last visited. Glad Coventry residents can get in free as it is good but not worth the price they charge. Gift shop very expensive.

We left with mixed feelings. When we arrived and purchased tickets on the day we were happy and let in with no queues or such, it was very clear when walking around that I think we were two of only half a dozen people in there. Extremely quiet very little visitors on our day. The displays were generally nice and well done and it was great to see some amazing history. However it was also a little disappointing that most of the interactive stuff was either broken, not working or switched off. It's surprisingly large place compared to the outside, and took us a while to walk around. There was one area we mentioned that while they was a lift it was blocked up by some cones, which we thought was odd if someone wasn't able to use the stairs. In the last bit there was a sign for an 'speed record experience' in the jet car area. On arrival at this, no staff was to be found and so we didn't get to experience this. You leave through the giftstore which itself wasn't that great. I went to ask at the desk about the experience and was told. Someone should be there and can take the payment for it. I questioned further and this wasn't included in the ticket and cost extra. So we passed up on this.

  • 5/5 Simon R. 1 year ago on Google
Absolutely love this place - it's as much a history of manufacturing in the Coventry area as it is about transport. I loved seeing all the old bikes, motorcycles, cars and other vehicles on display. A particular highlight was the Jaguar Heritage collection of about 20 historically significant cars from the most local of car manufacturers. The picnic area with tables and chairs half way round was very welcome, as was the accompanying children's play area (a large brio track was very much enjoyed by our daughter). Budget about 4 hours for a reasonably in-depth visit, a lot more of you want to read everything on offer. There is a café adjoining the museum on the ground floor - perfect for tea/coffee and cakes as well as some warm dishes. An added bonus is that your ticket gives you access for 12 months so you can go back as much as you like in this time.

I have just visited today Wednesday 21st June 2023 as my wife was at a conference in Coventry anyway. This was the best £14 (pre-booked) I've spent in a while. I parked in Bishop Street car park which is a 5 minute walk from the museum and is cash at the machine or by parking app (paybyphone) £6.16 including charges for 5 hours. On to the museum where as soon as you walk through the door you are greeted with an E type Jaguar! Collect pre-booked ticket, which lasts for a year, and begin to enjoy the rich motoring history of Coventry and the surrounding area. The museum is ordered mostly by date of manufacture and starts with bicycles, motorbikes, basic cars and then onwards and upwards. Just when you think you have seen it all including cars, vans, fire engines and racing cars etc, you turn a corner and are greeted with a room full of Jaguars!!!! Turn another corner and a video is playing about Thrust 2 land speed record holder, 10 minutes long and surprise surprise the car is actually there in the flesh!!! Not only Thrust 2, but Thrust SSC and the most recent attempt at land speed record, Bloodhound SSR. All in all I had a fantastic couple of hours and I will return next time my wife has to go to Coventry.
