Don't bother to pop in on a whim as you're passing by, there's NOTHING on the gate to say it's only open during school holidays, or that tickets have to be prebooked, it just tells you to pay at the shop. If you walk in you'll be confronted and told in no uncertain terms that you can't go in. Just a simple sign at the entrance would suffice!!

Nice place to pop in for a couple of hours max and cheap at ยฃ11 on the door. Don't expect too much though as there's no cafe and the shop is basic, with souvenirs only, no food. Museum is interesting for a mooch round and there is a toilet on site. The highlight are the staff. Passionate, very knowledgeable and great with the kids. The play fight with foam swords and shields was great and our boys really enjoyed it. If you come here for a couple of hours to kill then great but don't expect more than that as there isn't loads here.

Lunt Roman Fort is a partially reconstructed timber fort with a unique circular training area for horses, a rebuilt granary, timber gateway and fort ramparts. The fort is only open during select school holidays where they run fantastic events for families. This has so far been one of our ๐—ฐ๐—ต๐—ฒ๐—ฎ๐—ฝ๐—ฒ๐˜€๐˜ ๐—ฑ๐—ฎ๐˜†๐˜€ ๐—ผ๐˜‚๐˜ during the school holidays and it was brilliant. Youโ€™d be looking at spending 2 hours or so there. Youโ€™ll first be welcomed by three guides dressed and in character as Romans. There are lots of learning opportunities, chances to try on ๐—ฅ๐—ผ๐—บ๐—ฎ๐—ป ๐—ฐ๐—ผ๐˜€๐˜๐˜‚๐—บ๐—ฒ๐˜€, have a closer look at the ๐˜€๐—ต๐—ถ๐—ฒ๐—น๐—ฑ๐˜€ ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ฑ ๐˜„๐—ฒ๐—ฎ๐—ฝ๐—ผ๐—ป๐˜€ the Romanโ€™s would have used. You can explore the rest of the artifacts found on site within the museum and our boy had the chance to make his own clay horse too, similar to what Roman children would play with, but the activities do change regularly. Youโ€™ll get to go outside and have some games with the guides and end with a ๐—ฏ๐—ถ๐—ด ๐—ฏ๐—ฎ๐˜๐˜๐—น๐—ฒ against them in the โ€˜Gyrusโ€™ cavalry training ring, which everyone loved. The guides that work there were extremely knowledgeable, engaging and just all round brilliant with the children. ๐—ง๐—ต๐—ฒ ๐—ฐ๐—ผ๐˜€๐˜? Adults ยฃ4.63, child ยฃ3.83 Children under 3 are free. You must prebook your tickets. Itโ€™s worth noting the fort is not open on weekends and bank holidays. They only open at certain times throughout the school holidays so check their website prior to booking. ๐—ข๐˜๐—ต๐—ฒ๐—ฟ ๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ณ๐—ผ free parking there is no food or drink sold on site so take a picnic if wanting to eat Toilets on-site including an adapted toilet, but no baby change The fort is wheelchair and buggy accessible throughout

We attended the Roman Festival at the Lint Fort yesterday and the whole family thoroughly enjoyed it. We got to witness battle re-enactments, see what cooking and jewellery that were made would've looked like. The best bits were particularly having a chance to do Archery (very friendly and helpful staff) and watch the performers in the Gyrus ring the lady presenter was brilliant I could've listened to her history lesson all day!! Very friendly staff everywhere and it was excellent. Definitely worth a visit and nice Little Caesars Hot Donuts were very tasty! Thankyou to all the staff and performers who made it thoroughly engaging. It felt like we'd gone back in time ๐Ÿ‘

Visited Lunt Roman Fort as part of a school trip (this was the third year the school has visited). Thankfully it was a lovely day so we were able to fully enjoy it. The staff were dressed up in appropriate costumes and were very informative. The class had a great time taking part in a tour of the grounds (while marching like the Romans!) and learning about the living quarters and training of soldiers who would have lived in the Fort. Overall it was a great day out which the children enjoyed and were talking about for over a week after our visit.

Superb. Thoroughly engaging. Super enthusiastic staff, and extremely knowledgeable. Lovely museum / display centre. Unusually, if I was to improve it at all it would be a larger / more diverse rande of trinkets in the gift shop.

We were on the event and... it was good experience. The were some battles. There were some activities for kids like making some roman soldier. You could try to wear roman soldier uniform or hold a sword. However I think tickets were too expensive

We had a great time here, we went to an event day where the Romans and Britons were amazing! We learnt so much about ancient crafts and dress and everyone was so willing to impart knowledge. Brilliant!

Brilliant morning out. Booked for an event day and the two organisers were brilliant with the kids. Children got to try on armour, made roman belts and had a fun group battle moment. Would definitely recommend, worth the visit and the price is affordable.

A fantastic place for kids to learn about history and have fun at the same time. The staff are very friendly and were happy to pose for photos in character. The 'battle' training was brilliant even if it did end up with the kids attacking their commanding officer! ๐Ÿ˜‚ Definitely worth a visit if you can!

Really great for a school trip as you get to learn a lot and play with replica weapons. Not sure how much an adult member of the public would get out of it, though.

Reconstructed roman Fort with unique features. Shame to see that not more has been done to improved the site though.
