The waste disposal site at Hearsall Common is now closed. It was very useful during the waste disposal workers' strike. The workers there were helpful and considerate. Thank you for your help during a period of time during the Covid pandemic which was made deliberately more difficult by that strike.

I have added some photos of when the plaque was unveiled to commemorate Sir Frank Whittle who as a child he first saw a plane land on the Common. The ceremony was attended by Sir Frank's son Ian Whittle, Trevor Baylis inventor of the wind up radio, whose hero was Sir Frank, and Richard Greene who broke the land speed record. The children from Sir Frank Whittle Primary School attended and sang a song dedicated to Sir Frank. Interestingly the plaque which was unveiled was on the other side of the plinth on which it now stands. The ceremony took place on 5th May 1998. I have added some further pictures on this site which I took from the allotments next to the Common on the May Bank Holiday in 2005. There were several hot air balloons launched from the Common which was quite a spectacle as they rose up from behind the tree line in the allotments.

Visited the amusemant park before as well. Not the best thing in my oppinion, however the kids seemed to like it. And also is not too expensive. So try it and see for yourselfe.

Con you for ticket prices.. They stick you in a corner where you have a pole in the middle.. Many empty seats but we were still refused to give another seats. Very bad experience . Avoid it at any cost. Expensive tickets and food is overpriced.. You get more air in the bag than the actual Candy floss.😑

Wet at the moment but a nice space to walk around. Small woodland over the road and a cycle speedway track which are worth looking at.

😠 Absolutely filthy. There's rubbish and plastic bottles in the pool which are hazardous for the swans. I dont know what the council does, well I'm certain they dont do anything for this park. 1 of the swans had an issue with their leg which is visible in the photos. Poor swans it's actually very sad...
