**DO NOT USE** So my partner and I travelled from West Yorkshire to Coventry for a concert near by. Upon arriving at the hotel we were told that despite there being another couple waiting to check-in they only had ONE room remaining. So despite our money already been taken, we were told we were not likely to have a room. After waiting for over 2 hours the receptionist confirmed that neither of us would be able to have a room due to "maintenance issues" and were left stranded. The receptionist claimed they were going to talk to other Hotels and Booking.com to have us transferred to another hotel, expenses covered by them. Instead this was a lie, the receptionist snuck away and secretly cancelled everyone's reservations, and issued a refund without discussing it with anyone. So myself and my partner were stranded in Coventry, unable to secure accommodation for the night, and are still awaiting our refund. The general lack of concern was insulting, their ability to handle a problem was beyond a joke. And the staff were generally dishonest, malicious, and sneaky in their actions. Will never, ever, use them again.

Bro these man aren't lying. This place is terrible, avoid at all costs! We were unfortunate that it was the only place available last minute and had a graduation to go to. The whole place stank and had druggies living in the lobby and halls with loud music and big barking dogs everywhere. We also had no electricity in our rooms throughout our stay lol what a joke.

I stayed here because my reservation with another hotel had a problem and they were overbooked. I wish I had driven home. This place was terrible and I could not recommend staying here at all. Beyond the glitzy floor of the reception the place is tired and worn out. My so called executive room smelt and looked very tatty. The bathroom sink had no plumbing and the water pressure was so low it was impossible to have a shower or run a bath. There is no breakfast facility and it is simply not worth the money, not even half of it. Very very poor indeed.

This shambles does not deserve a star. Booked a week prior, checked 3 times all was ok, arrived no room.i finally got a room only to be locked out, due to a faulty door, the room smelt musky and obvious cigar odour. Changed rooms, -4 last night, no heating. When reported to reception, there was i can't wake maintenance person up. Now I have been REFUSED a refund.

Staying here is an experience. Some man with no nose and self professed former drug addict was appalled when I said I was staying here. It was cheap as chips during the commonwealth games but a soviet gulag would probably offer more comfort.

DO NOT STAY HERE. THE PHOTOS DO NOT SHOW WHAT THIS HOTEL IS REALLY LIKE! This hotel is disgusting. The bathrooms are unusable, the beds are not comfy, everywhere is dirty. There is an awful smell throughout that is a mixture of sweat, wet dog, cigarettes and weed. There is a nightclub underneath the rooms that is so loud you cannot get to sleep. When it stops, everyone in the hotel comes to life, slamming doors, screaming at eachother. We were meant to stay 2 nights but left at 3am on the first night it was that bad. STAY ANYWHERE ELSE THAN HERE!!

I stayed over for one night with my 85 Yr old mother. The room was rather dinghy electric sockets not very well kept, the toilet door wouldn't shut properly. At night, the room was way too hot, and then to top it off, we had 6 police turn up at 2 o'clock in the morning because two brothers wanted to kill themselves, screaming woman shouting put the knife down. When I went out to take my bags out, there was alot of destruction in the corridor blood all over doors and walls, when I told the staff the blood they wasn't really concerned about cleaning straight away, as the cleaners were not in. It took me over a week to get half my money back, but why can't a manager make a decision to make a refund? As he's got to ask the permission of the hotels owner, what's the point of a manager if he can not make the decision. Would I ever book again a big No, would I recommend this hotel "NO" find another place

Never seen a hotel so dirty like this one. Don't go there, Our room 84 The view is a brick wall. The bed cover was old, with a large frayed hole. The bathroom was dirty, mildew fungi covered all the silicone covered gaps. The matress was old rickety and made 'bong' sounds sitting on the edge of the bed. My room was changed to 41, thn The bathroom had the same mildew problem. Shower not well Water leaked into the bathroom through the concrete celing. The room TV, must be the smalest on the market. The 'free' internet did not work. The passages smell badly of old cigarette smoke, are very narrow with fire doors banging, disturbing sleep. Please stay away, avoid this very bad 'hotel', it is a disgusting smelly old dump. Stay away!!!!

Very poor service, rooms were unclean !! Early morning they were doing building work causing a lot of noises when we asked receptionist she replied that’s fine and normal we have to carry out some work? Feel free to complain there’s nothing we can do. Rooms smelt of fish curtains were broken on the edges allowing the daylight to ruin our sleep. Seriously bad bad service you will not get a good sleep pay a bit more and enjoy at a good / hotel seriously 0 Star worst experience ever !!!!!!!!

Always drama here, there are homeless people living in one area of the hotel and there was a couple having a heated argument on the carpark. Lots of improvements made since our last visit and renovations still going on. The hotel bar is open 24 hours and allow the bar customers to party til 3.30am, screaming in the car park and loud music, people pile in after the nightclubs close. Several car alarms have been going off for over 2 hours. Paying guests aren't considered at all. My 3rd visit and my last due to the music and partying all night

No star are needed. I had to check out as I could bring myself to sleep in that room. Asked for my money back as I had booked for two nights and it was declined even though they had agreed in the first place. I am going to complain but they should not be open even if they are cheap. They least they can do is be clean. I need to read reviews as they could have saved me some headache and heartache. Very disappointed

Absolutely shocking place. Bed frame material had a big hole on it and bed not fixed to floor. Had a low open window that would not even close. Bathroom was beyond dirty. Toilet flush didnt work. Taps still were left dripping even after turning it as tight as possible. Spare pillows were dirty and didn't even have pillowcases on to be able to use them! The walls badly stained and marked all over. Floors creaky in corridors and absolutely stunk of smoke everywhere inside. Drunk people sat in random places drinking in the middle of the day. One girl we passed was so out of it, drinking and covered in blood and stumbling her way through the lobby and not one staff member stopped to support her/make sure she was ok. Convenient location for Coventry Arena and thats about its only positive.

The bed was the only thing in the room that didn't feel dirty or old. The carpet was ripped up and had tons of mysterious stains, the rooms and corridors smell like smoke even though it is a "non smoking hotel".

Ater reading the reviews AFTER i had booked it, i was dreading the weekend BUT, how shocked was i. The rooms are dated but very clean (well ours was anyway), the staff could not do enough to help, they are so friendly and really do value your custom. The hotel really does need a makeover granted but for a budget hotel, we were happy with our stay.

Hi We stayed here in 2017 - thanks to someone not making a note of registration - we have just been hit with a Β£350 parking fee (sadly moved from Dorset to Coventry soon after staying here). Now have CCJ and to resolve have to go to court. Thanks Hylands. Luckily have proof we stayed here but hotel wont help. So watch out. Otherwise was OK stay

The only words I can use is this is a kip. It is filthy and really run down. I couldn't see through the window in my room the glass was that dirty and the carpet was filthy. The bath was covered in mould and I was even afraid to have a shower. My advice is even though it's cheap pay the extra and stay somewhere else

I am very dissatisfied with this hotel it is very dirty rooms filled with mould by the window, bathroom dirty,I was woken up early by staff ,someone came into my room, we had to change 3 rooms yet it was so bad. There was no water in the room, no heating, they had to bring an unsafe electric heater for us to use at night. I don't advise any spine person to use that hotel

This place was so shady that I could stay for more the 5 hours in the room and checked out. I had to check out as I could not bring myself to sleep in that room, weird smell in the room burnt carpets and windows. This place had a bad vibe.

Very dated cheap hotel, the price of Β£40 a night is just above what it deserves. The rooms are moldy with sticky stained floors. The bathrooms are falling apart. The staff were pleasant, apart from the angry security guy at night.

Comfy bed and clean room. This place needs alot of money spent on it to be all it can be and if it did it would be a great hotel. Its fine if your a workman looking for digs but definitely not a family hotel as its quite run down and unkept. My advice to the owner would be to pay for proper cleaners and tradesmen to do it up then charge higher rate to attract a better clientel. It's clearly been maintained by someone who has no knowledge of DIY. Some of the diy features are quite amusing. I would stay here again but I wouldn't let my mother stay by herself.

Dirty room, dirty bedding, dirty bathroom. It's dirty. The hotel has an influx of permanent residence who have no manners. A thoroughly appalling stay. I was booked in for a consecutive two night stay. I left after the first night!!!! Avoid if you have any self preservation

Just had to give one star to post comments but No stars. This is the worst place I have ever stayed. Everywhere was scruffy and dirty. plug sockets were loose, unable to open curtains. No plug in the bath (not that I would have got in the dirty bath)

Not very happy at all was given key to room (which on sign said executive room) to enter to nice sized room but what looked to be blood on the walls and bathroom door frame mold all around windows and walls. The window was open and wouldn’t close. Bare in mind I have young children too. The bathroom was disgusting the tiles was filthy, it generally looked as though the room hadn’t been cleaned just beds had been made. Not to meantion the horrid smell in the room of what smelt like years and years worth of smoke stuck the furniture and walls. No cot that was requested, went down to the one and only staff member who was helpful and polite who changed us room, but although room was changed shower was broken the cot requested was bought to us but without a mattress to be told they don’t have a mattress they didn’t even have a spare duvet to use.. really unhappy with this stay so far and only just got here.

I booked this gaff on a recommendation from my friend from Ghana. I pulled up and was met with a hung over receptionist fighting a local city of culture representative. I side stepped the carnage to finally arrive in the reception area and was allocated my room. As if the red flags wernt already prevalent i found a half naked somalian cleaner asleep in my bed. She awoke angrily and chased me, tried to commandeer me and claimed she was my captain. She tried to sail me back to hillfields but i fended her off. Not my worst hotel experience, but had better

Ideal location for me. Great price. Decor and fixtures and fittings a little dated but room was a great size and staff very helpful.

It has a good price for quality ratio. The guy in the front desk Sunday night (2nd October) was amazing, he is an asset!! Best that I found in years!

0 stars would be more appropriate. Booked a room for a work stay, and was greeted with the most appalling standard of cleanliness and upkeep. Avoid at all costs! Had to check straight back out again.

  • 2/5 James B. 1 year ago on Google
The bed was brilliant, staff nice and location great. For the price and a place to get your head down for the night was ok but clearly needs updating. TV wouldn't get any stations, radio didn't work. I would go again as for a stop over was fine other than needing a good clean.

OK, so this is a proper mixed bag of a review.. and one that I have very rarely had to do.. Room: 0.5/5 Upon arrival, the first thing that's noted is the smell of smoke in the room. With cigarette burns on the windowsill and ledge outside, it gives the reason away. There has been attempts to modernise the interior, but that consists of modern wallpaper on a single wall. There was no latch let alone lock on the bathroom door and plenty of damaged fixtures and fittings. Service: 3/5 The service at the hotel is pretty good to be fair, it heavily surpassed the quality of the room itself. Nothing major to say negatively about it. Location: 4/5 Ideally located just up from the station, this hotel is in a good position for the city or for general browsing. Sadly, there is a club downstairs disguised as a restaurant that likes to thump bass put until 2-3am.. Overall, pretty unimpressed with the accommodation, but overall, I can't wholly say it was the end of the world.
