The receptionist acted like he's better than anyone unless they had the money to book a premium room, we were put in a room with a broken door (my brother got stuck in the bathroom) and after going to get a new room we were told that booking.com had only booked 1 person even though my receipt said 2 and I had paid £180 anyway. After plenty of arguing they agreed to charge my brother only for his meals. Prices were expensive... A bottle of water was £5. The only saving grace was the outstanding quality of food and 1 particular waitress knowing the menu and everything that came with the food without looking at the menu and recommending drinks to best compliment the food.

A beautiful place. The room was stunning and the hall is set in picturesque grounds. We also had a an amazing afternoon tea. My ONLY quibble was breakfast service. We had to queue for about 15 minutes to be seated which was a shame. Although the breakfast itself was lovely. I just think maybe a rethink of the breakfast system (maybe booking a time for breakfast to prevent everyone turning up at same time). Overall a fantastic stay and would definitely recommend

Stayed here for two nights over the Bank Holiday weekend. On the whole it was a really good stay and we really enjoyed the room. The staff were also helpful and friendly. The areas to look at would be trying to run a fully operational hotel on minimal staff, as a lot were still on furlough and it was evident that some were working double shifts all the time. This did have a noticeable impact, especially with the breakfast service and offerings at breakfast (which wasn't up to scratch).

Drinks are absolutely ridiculously overpriced. 36 for two vodka cokes. Cheaper in London. However the hall itself and grounds were beautiful. Room’s were lovely and comfy and surprisingly reasonably priced compared to the bar.

I had emailed the hotel to let them know we were vegan and i was assured they do a full English vegan breakfast. We got to breakfast, only to be very disappointed. There was no vegan sausage, no avocado, no maple syrup for pancakes. We got a barely cooked tomato, oily hash browns, unappealing plain mushrooms and beans. Even the toast was burnt. I asked the waitress twice for hot oat milk, only to be brought hot dairy milk. Even arrival was not satisfactory. we got to the hotel about 10.30pm, having called to say we'll be later than we'd originally planned and would be there about 10pm but the person who took our call had left no message on the booking. I asked to talk to the manager and was told they would come in after 3pm. i asked for a phone call to express my feedback in person but no call ever came. We came here in 1995, and had fond memories of this place. When we got a chance to come back this time, we jumped at it. Now I wish we hadn't. Some places with happy memories, one should not go back to. The original happy memory is sullied!

Delightful period house which makes an ideal hotel location for overnight stay. Just over ten minutes from the motorway but feels like you are in the countryside. Rooms are excellent. Evening meals and breakfast superb. Staff always friendly and helpful.

I came for a wedding at the venue. The groom had a room so I got to see what a room looks like. Overall impressed with the place. Room had everything you needed. Clean and spacious. The venue for the wedding was outstanding 👏 the staff were really nice and friendly. Gotta give it to this place. Five stars all the way.

First room i was given had a creepy attic room cupboard, with the light on and door open and I was so creeped out i asked to change rooms. They did that with no problem -the receptionist was fantastic. It took me an hour of ringing down for room service. I didn't get through, so went down to ask about it. Not a problem if they were busy. The girl behind the bar slammed her drink down and asked whether there were menus in my room. I said yes, but I explained I'd been trying for an hour. She took my order, but she wasn't happy about having to do something. Downstairs was empty. Then at breakfast all of the cereal bowls were dirty with encrusted food. The food selection wasn't great. I had avocado on toast and it was small. Not keen to stay here again.

Stayed here for the night last night to celebrate mine and my husbands anniversary. Would like to say a massive Thank you to the general manager and his amazing staff for going above and beyond to ensure our stay was perfect. The staff were all so lovely and friendly. The room was amazing. We were greeted by towel swans and red petals, champagne and chocolates and a handwritten card from all the staff which was lovely. Really wasn't expecting that so thank you all so much for a wonderful stay :)

Staff, comfort and value for money. Plus an excellent breakfast . Arrived after midnight as this was booked as a stop over point whilst travelling down south. The gentleman on reception when I checked in was charming and very polite. Rooms were comfortable with good bathrooms . Prince on reception the next morning dealt with a query I had very well. A very special mention to Debbie in the restaurant for breakfast. So polite. Friendly and efficient The training of the staff at this hotel was a lesson in how to approach customer service. Impeccable manners and old fashioned values. Would strongly recommend this hotel

We absolutely loved staying here. The service was excellent, with all the membets of the staff, no matter their title or job, checking in to make sure we had everything we needed throughout our stay. The room was very cozy, and the beds were equally comfortable. The food was fantastic. We met up with friends here at the restaurant and there were rave reviews all around. 10 out of 10, definitely recommend!

Upon arrival the reception staff was extremely helpful. We got our room key and went to check it out. The room was huge. I wasn't expecting anything that big. The bathroom has a separate bath and shower which is so unusual these days but extremely relaxing to have a bath. We were at a work function in the Orangery. The food was just incredible. Drinks were a little pricey but I feel the overall experience was worth it

I stayed here as it was my mums wedding, i was greeted exceptionally and had a lovely stay the first night continuing i thought the breakfast was a little costy for the quality of food. There were multiple complaints made from the wedding guests about rooms they were staying in, there was Not enough bar staff i understand with staff issues at the moment but the ratio guests to staff was unbelievable, some of the staff were lovely yet there seemed to be some rude and impatient staff which just makes you feel uncomfortable. Overall i was shocked with my stay

Went for a special afternoon tea on a Thursday afternoon. What a wonderful place. The location, atmosphere and staff were all exceptional. I have had afternoon teas at loads of places but the cakes here are the best I've had.

Simply delightful. I can only imagine the pressures on hotels these days but none were on show during our stay at this great hotel. The service from the staff was on point. Chris on reception was excellent. Lovey manner and very helpful. Our room overlooked the front and was very comfortable. Huge bed with good quality linen. Fancy Elemis in the bathroom and twinning tea too. The restaurant is excellent and we had a great meal. Btw the grounds are well cared for and we enjoyed a drink appreciating the gardeners efforts All in all a smashing stay. Many thanks

Was a great couple of days staff great, and the young man from housekeeping standing in for breakfast today was a ray of sunshine, need to keep this guy. Only one little moan need to change breakfast set up both days was not very hot shame as quality was excellent. Thanks for a great weekend. My wife asked me to pass on better lighting by the mirror area was a lovely room but all we went in were a bit dull.

Not the cheapest for drinks. We went out to the local bars. £12.50 for a vodka and Soda. Would of stayed the evening drinking if it was sensible. Local pub was 7.50 for the same plus an alcohol free beer. Rooms were lovely

Stayed on business for dinner bed and breakfast. Bar bill rather stiff - was charged £22 for two drinks pre dinner and the drinks were very ordinary. Staff attentive and polite. The hotel also added a 10% service charge onto their wine served with dinner! Rooms ok but extremely hot and windows only opened four inches. Notably there was a large fan in the room so this must have been raised by other guests. Food rather mediocre at dinner. Breakfast very good although the hot part over cooked. Nice coffee and biscuits in the room. Located close to some very noisy roads. I note the reply below and would make the following points: the hotel cannot be classed as a “luxury hotel” given its facilities. It is noteworthy that the google maps listing shows a pool although this appears to have gone now (presumably it was located where the wedding venue orangery now stands). Ansty Hall hotel is decent but is quite a long way from “luxury”. It has no pool or spa and the decor and fixtures and fittings are perfectly adequate but not luxury. The fact that a service charge was added to a restaurant wine bill without notification or the option to have it removed is clearly sharp practice. It was presented at checkout as a sum total without a breakdown. It is noteworthy that other reviews have highlighted the bar prices as being eye watering and met with the same response from management. This was the highest price I have ever paid. £14 or thereabouts for a rum and coke is a trifle steep although having read the review below I gather another poor chap was stung for £35 for a couple of vodkas. Ouch!

I have stayed here a few times over the past year or so and have been very impressed. The staff are extremely welcoming, the rooms surprisingly large and well equipped in a beautiful building. The location could not be more convenient with easy access from a number of main motorways. There seem to be regular improvements to the property and I look forward to staying again soon.

We had a great night at this venue for a wedding although we encountered a few issues. It was often frustrating to get served a drink as the service was slow. There isn't a lot of choice on the variety of drinks and the prices are extortionate. There was a slab that was badly cracked at the top of some concrete steps which when you stood on it had a large void underneath causing you to go through it. My partner twisted her ankle and was in pain for a short time. Luckily enough it wasn't too bad as she was holding onto my arm at the time. This could easily have been a very serious injury. This was reported and I would be interested to know if this has been dealt with. There was leftover food in the fridge of our room and the shower was going hot and cold as were other guests. The breakfast was pretty basic with nothing standing out as decent but the variety is ok alongside the continental. The staff did well to keep everything topped up for the guests. Overall the place is worth a visit. The food was cooked well and the staff did very well to deliver it all out promptly. The venue is a lovely scene with comfortable settings, plenty of ground to explore with areas to segregate if preferred. The elderly gentleman on the front desk in the evening was lovely and very helpful and the lady controlling the food during the wedding breakfast was competent and friendly. All the guests had a great time with no real issues to ruin their experience at this venue

I cannot speak highly enough about this hotel. We stayed for 1 night whilst dropping our son to Warwick University and from the moment we walked through the door we were made to feel welcome. The staff were all really friendly and obviously enjoyed their jobs. Nothing was too much trouble. Our room was lovely, comfortable and had everything that you could possibly need in the room. The fan was also a welcome addition. Our room had both a bath and large shower which was great. Breakfast was excellent and again the breakfast staff checked that all was OK. Great choice of cereals, fruit, pastries and a cooked buffet breakfast. Faultless stay and will definitely be my go to for visits with son over next 3 years.

Thank you very much to the team who looked after us (stayed 20th of April and lunched 21st). The night time reception chap who welcomed us was very helpful and lovely. I am sorry, I don’t remember his name! The lady who looked after us at lunch time Marianna, was so pleasant and helpful! Thank you for looking after us so well. Also thank you to the chef who accommodated my food allergies! The hotel itself is a lovely building but needs a bit of a redecorate in places. It is well maintained but just a little tired. We will return whenever we are in the area.

Don't not stay here..... We arrived for our friend's wedding the night before, our room wasn't ready and had to wait till 1630. After getting our room, it was outdated, cobwebs all over and had a funny smell. We met up with our friends and ended up cleaning the ceremony room, clearing pots, rubbish and I even had to ask for a hoover. The Night manager was asked by the bride why are my guest cleaning up and he was just rude and walked off. Nothing was set up. They had 1 young girl working who didn't finish till 0230 in the morning and was back in work that day. Absolutely shocking. O and the prices are a joke. £19:75 for a pint of lager and a pint of cider. Just bring your own booze much cheaper.

Superb second stay. We had previously stayed for one night for a stopover, we were so impressed we decided to stay again for three nights. We managed to have our room changed on the second night without any fuss to a much larger room which was very clean (thank you Tom) and spacious at the front of the main building with far reaching views as the first room had no view which was situated at the side of the building which was disappointing. Breakfast was always a delightful experience due to the exceptional service from Betty and Marianna who are both a credit to the hotel who work tirelessly and still manage to stay cheerful and professional despite their heavy workload. We would enjoy the nicely cooked full English breakfast along with sourdough toast, they also offer a fresh selection of pastries, fresh fruit, cereals ham and cheese to enjoy too. Beautiful surroundings nice and relaxing with great staff. Thank you.

Great location in the countryside just outside Coventry with good access to the road network. The hotel looks great from the outside and the family room we had was very spacious. We ate in the restaurant, which was okay, soft background music that made it seem a lot more special than it actually was. The food was fairly bland and many of the ingredients were missing. The staff didn't seem that interested in actually being there. However, breakfast was much better, the staff were very attentive and there was a great choice of food which was delicious, we all enjoyed it. Would recommend the hotel, but eat out if you have the chance.

Had the pleasure of staying in one of the rooms in the main house which had a lovely period looking room (33) over looking the garden with a century's old tree which must of been 500 years old. Such a pleasure opening the curtains each day to that wonderful grand tree. The food what spot on and the service was what you expect in a 4 star hotel. Just a shame our stay was up. With good motorway links and little villages to go through, it wad nice to be in the country.

I absolutely love the look and feel of this place. What an amazing hotel, drinks may be a bit pricey for some but given the location I think it's acceptable. The venue is lovely for a wedding and the rooms. Although a little confusing at first very comfortable. The shower/bath could so with instructions however. But our room had a fridge, iron, kettle lovely view. Was a nice stay.

Most of our stay and experience was good. The reception staff and bar staff were lovely. Our room was clean but a little tired with holes in the carpet. The thing that let down our stay was breakfast the next morning. We arrived at breakfast and it was very busy. We patiently waited to be seated and we were told someone would take our order in a minute. Our friends came down to breakfast about 5 minutes later and were seated in the other room of the dining area. After 20 minutes no one had taken our order and were in a rush walking past us it was hard to get anyones attention. We managed to get the attention of young man who was bringing out food and said we understood they were busy but we had been waiting for awhile and no one had taken our order. He sincerely apologised and said he would go and get someone. At this point we found out our friends in the other room already had their order taken and were already eating their breakfast. We waited another several minutes and a couple who had been seated as we had informed the server about our wait were having their order taken by a lady. The couple informed her that we had actually been waiting for a long time and would she mind taking our order first she dismissed them and insisted on taking their order. She then came back and eventually took our order instead of apolosing for the wait, she snapped at us telling us that there was a table of 9 in the other room. It was a poor excuse and her whole attitude towards us felt so rude and belittling. I remained polite and said that we understood they were busy but people around us who arrived after were already eating their breakfast and we hadn't even had our order. We ordered and she came back smirking telling me they had no vegan/vegetarian option left as they were waiting for a delivery. She offered no alternative to accommodate this. I had to try and negotiate with her to be able to get anything I could actually eat. It was extremely poor service and her attitude was awful. A bad end to an otherwise pleasant stay.

Great room, excellent food, well organised. Excellent facilities. Dog friendly. We had a very pleasant 70th with guests staying overnight. They even organised a breakfast for 7 in a different room so we could chat and still have doggy with us.

Lovely hotel and staff. Fabulous room, with lovely sized towel and Elmis toiletries. However cooked breakfast was a let down. Continental was great, selection of fruit juices, pastries, cereals, yoghurt and fruit, however cooked breakfast was over cooked and dry, apart from half a tomato that was barely warm. Staff were great and toast on 3rd attempt was about right. Didn't bother complaining about other as they were so busy and had, had enough anyway.

The Hotel, parking, large room and friendly staff were all fantastic. Contrary to other reviews the room was so warm we had to turn one of the radiators off. The room provided the following :- great views out of the 4 windows, very comfy beds - (even the camp beds for the children), large TV, fridge, coffee machine, tea making facilities, desk, tables and chairs, iron and ironing board, safe, robes and slippers etc. Unfortunately the evening meal was a real disappointment especially as it was for a birthday celebration i.e. £30 steaks were worth £10 at best, menu limited and service slow - hence the 1 star removed. So overall would definitely stay again but would choose somewhere else to eat.

I was very disappointed with parts of our stay. Our room no.30 was apparently deluxe. I expected more for the price,it was nice but not deluxe. We had a noise in our room when we assumed it was the boiler system. No heating on when we arrived, room cold. Breakfast was nice but for the cost was not worth it, we were given a complimentary breakfast however the size was terrible, one bacon, sausage, egg, half a mushroom and tomatoes. I had to ask twice for toast and we got one and half slices each. I would have got more in Coombe Abbey cafe for £8. Breakfast service poor as not enough staff on. Continental was poor, only one croissant to have and people had to ask many time for bowls, cups etc. More staff needed. The bar prices horrendous, so expensive, wedding party took over the bar lounge so had to sit in the entrance in the cold. Reception is to small for business . Fire door could be on automatic system as if you have a disability it would be difficult to Open them. I would not come back

Very nice hotel with spacious rooms and traditional decor set in Nice countryside location. Staff friendly. Carpet in rooms thread bare, no air con, bar prices and food on the expensive side. Suite very spacious - room number 1 is great. Accidentally left my tablet in my room, which was found and kept safe. Fantastic. Breakfast really good too.

Pros: - the main building is beautiful - good, nearby parking - a short taxi to Coventry city centre - rooms were comfortable Cons: - service was Fawlty Towers- esq with calamity, problems and errors left, right and centre- we were made to feel like a constant burden (‘the chef could put something together for you, but it will have to be an egg sandwich and you’ll all have to have the same!’ at 2pm on a Saturday) - food was non-existent despite signage and menus stating otherwise - the place was filthy, the bar was stacked high with dirty glasses, which were three glasses deep - the bar staff were nowhere to be found, resulting in unnecessary waiting times for drinks

I like Macdonald Hotels. The staff here were friendly. The rooms are spacious. Bar was a tad pricey, but that's expected. Ample car parking. Beautiful facade, with well kept grounds. Orangery is most suitable for weddings or events, comfortably taking 100 people with its own bar. Interior classic, certainly with the superior rooms. Very comfortable. Traditional English breakfast was superb, with beautiful ingredients. Thanks for a lovely stay.
