Unfortunately, I didn't have a good experience. I took a bite of my half sandwich and surprise it tasted like pure bread with lettuce. To my surprise they had put just a little of the chicken salad. The soup was a small cup (fine) but half way filled. If you are looking for customers to keep coming back, good luck, your standards are terrible. It was a simple order to make, how do you explain the poor presentation? This location is a nono to me. I'll drive to Alhambra or South Gate instead.

Extremely rude staff! This location was out of the Autumn squash soup and did not let us know until after the order was placed. My niece went to get our order while I sat at the table. She came back and asked me to go up and ask for a different soup because Autumn squash was out. There was a mix up with the order and they gave me a bag that had a receipt with Autumn squash on it. The girl from behind the counter came out and rudely said I took someone's order. It was quite humiliating and embarrassing that she announced in getting off everyone in the restaurant that I took the order when she gave it to me telling me it was mine. She rolled her eyes and went back behind the counter. Shortly after, another member of the staff came out and told me I took someone else's order. I told him I had no need to steal and took out nothing other than the soup from the bag. I didn't like what they were implying in front of EVERYONE in the restaurant. I told him to take the bag and let him know this was their mistake, NOT mine. I can NOT belive they would accuse their customers of taking an order. I was sitting down sharing lunch with my niece who has bad anxiety issues and this did not help. This is the WORST behavior I have ever recieved from staff.

This has to be one of the worst restaurants and establishments I’ve ever been to. Over the course of 4 months of attending the restaurant, I’ve seen how degrading that building and the service as become towards the customers. Here are some of the issues wrong with this Panera location: -Unsanitary Conditions: It’s apparent that the building is several years old with how the carpet inside being completely filthy. On top of this the management inside isn’t on top of keeping the building clean with regular sights of dirt, food, crumbs, napkins and more all seen in the ground. At multiple tables on the ground these types of trash are common. -Long waiting times for food: Another common trend found is the long waiting times for food. I’ve witnessed first hand of how some customers have waited up um 30 minutes for a single soup or sandwich. What makes this worse is when you ask one of the employees about your food, they respond back with an aggressive and disrespectful manner back to you. On top of the waiting time, the food is overpriced for what you get. An entire meal that includes a sandwich, soup and a drink costs as much as 2 whole sandwiches from Porto’s that can feed up to 4 people. -Dirty Bathrooms: the bathrooms inside are always filthy. The floors are covered with black stain marks from customer but from homeless people especially. There can be paper towels on the ground, toilet paper, sink water, toilet water, even hairs (as seen in the sink photo) and more. And the bathrooms are like this the entire day until when the restaurant closes at 9 where employees lazily dragged an old mop to “clean” the floors. -Homeless People: a number of homeless people roam around inside of the Panera location. This includes a gentleman who lives inside of 2 cars that are regularly parked within the parking lot of the Panera. He has a goatee and long white hair on top of always wearing sunglasses while also always sitting in the sitting area past the self serve drinks area inside. What makes this individual stand out more is how he sprouts out conspiracy theories on COVID-19 and Donald Trump while also having been kicked out the restaurant before in the past (although the next day, he easily comes back in with no involvement from the staff whatsoever). Then there’s a Asian American homeless woman who brings her entire cart inside of the building and spend large days on end inside of the building. There have been at times where she has fallen asleep at one of the tables with no saying from the manager John or any of the employees (even though this is supposed to be a family restaurant and not a homeless shelter). Her cart is in one of the photos included in the review. Another thing that these homeless people do inside is that there have been cases where they’ve have stolen other customers food !!! They wait for when Jon (the MANAGER) is distracted along with other employees and they take the food right off the counter inside. They also take the plastic cups that are reserved for laying customers inside without any intervention from the employees inside. Overall I would highly recommend going to a different restaurant for any types of meals in the surrounding areas or cities. Not only is this restaurant riddled with homeless people that make eating inside uncomfortable but goes against the image of family friendly that Panera strives for. Long waiting times for food, overpriced food, dirty bathrooms, dirty floors, and more all await if you plan on visiting this Panera location. If you ever want to file a complaint against management, look for the manager named John. He has a black bread and typically wears flannel style shirts inside.

Good spot for cyber cafe. Lots of power outlets. AC was cold. Outside seating available if so desired with umbrella covering. Plenty of parking. Food is standard fare. My fork did come with extra dried food on it but it can happen anywhere. Something everyone should be aware every time at a diner. Update Oct-2022: now the masks are off, the place lively up a bit with bigger crowds. Service is adequate just need to ask(response is immediate).

Not the most refined Panera location I have been to but the nice customer service makes up for the edgy environment. The food was what you may expect from Panera. Ordered the soup yet there was no option for bread bowl so they paired it with a small baguette. I also ordered a Bear Claw and I overlooked the fact that it might have sat there the entire morning and day yet it looked very appetizing. I have seen much larger pastries at other locations. The big need for improvement here is the dining experience. The restrooms were a mess. The trash over flowed and there wasn't any paper towels. There was no napkins available at the pickup bar. I noticed at least 3 patrons ask for napkins. The trash recepticals in the dining area also needed plenty of attention as plates continued to be stacked as patrons left. Lastly, I feel the posters that present certain Panera food deals diminish the classiness of the cafe. In addition, the ipad for quick ordering also negatively affects the dining experience. These two factors makes it feel more like a fastfood eatery. This location also has a rather large outdoor dining.

Im not a huge fan of Panera. My wife loves the food here. Im not real big on salad. There are 3 items I order here. Flatbread pizza, wild rice soup, and grilled cheese. The problem is the "grilled" cheese. I put these quotes because they no longer grill the sandwich. They no longer have the panini press. So, the grilled cheese is toasted and not grilled. So I no longer get this. Their baked goods are great. Their bread is great and the bagels are great. We will keep coming here because my wife loves it.

To be fair I used the app just to claim a deal. Ordered the Baja Bowl with chicken. The app explained to me that they were out of tomatoes but I could replace them with something else. (Yes. For an extra charge. I could always add items weather or not they have tomatoes.) The food was ready when I arrived but I took the bowl out and it was the smallest portion of food. You could see the empty space where the tomatoes were supposed to be. At first I thought they forgot to add the chicken but I finally found a couple pieces. They must've ran out of chicken as well. This next comment has more to do with the app then it does with this particular location. There's too many in app offers that pop up. It's a bit deceiving in telling you you can replace items when really it's just telling you you can add extra items for extra charge. I like tipping... no... I LOVE to Tip people for their Good Service. If a waiter is very attentive and friendly I'll give a 30 or 35% tip. What I don't like is a program that asks how much I'd like to tip before I've even received my service. While checking out the app asks how much I'd like to tip. $2 $4 $6 or other amount. It doesn't even give a ,(no tip option). If I love my service I'd rather just leave a cash tip at the location. Now I'm imagining that the reason my portion was so stingy is because I chose the (other amount) option and only gave a dollar for a service I hadn't received yet. Had I tipped more and received the amount of food I received I'd have felt even more disappointed. The food Tasted pretty good and I even enjoyed the slice of baguette that they give with your order but I guess inflation has really affected this location as well because it seemed like they were rationing their bowls. Or maybe they were just running out of more ingredients. It's just too expensive for the amount of food.

It would have been a great experience if it wasn't for the person who took my order. I know we all go through something every now and then but I think we should learn to NOT bring it to our workplace. From the moment she took my order till we finished the transaction, no friendliness whatsoever. She did not say "Good morning". No greeting at all. She was rushing my order. Other crew would usually ask "Would you like to try _____" but not her. Not even a "Thank you" once we finished the order. And what is sad about this is that she's a Team Lead. If she has this type of attitude, what would she teach her subordinates. Anyways, I hope that people learn the true meaning of customer service. Panera's menu prices is not cheap. We spend a good amount of money every time we visit this place. I really hope we experience better customer service in the future.

The worse Panera I been to. I made my order at 10:44 Am and got to the restaurant around 11:02. I go to pick up my order but was informed by an employee with a pink shirt and a single tattoo on his right arm that they were backed up and I was third on his list. Not a problem, I understand how difficult the food industry is. I decided to just stand and wait near the pickup shelf so I won’t get in their way. I waited for 30 more minutes as I hear him call out the name of every single order. I then decided to ask another employee about my order as a total of 50 mins had gone by since I made it. The employee was kind and goes to look for my order. He finds it on the back shelf. For some strange reason the employee in the pink shirt had put my ready order in the back and it was the only one where he did not call out the name. I don’t understand his motivation for doing this when he saw me there waiting for the entirety of this time and knew my name and order.

This Panera location has an unclean feeling whenever you walk in, which reflects that they don't often clean the tables. Staff service and attitude is pretty poor as well. Either ignore you or give you the feeling like you are asking them to go out of their way to help you with a simple request like can I get a large cup because you guys ran out of them by the check in kiosks. I will be taking my business and sip club membership to other Panera locations.

I always do not have good experience at this particular Panera. One time, they closed the place down (They said it's due to computer system down.) without notifying the customers that ordered ahead. We all lined up in front and waited and waited until finally, someone came out and told us. If they can email us about our order, why couldn't they do the same? Just do email blast. Another time, we ordered 4-5 different kinds of bagels. When we received our order, all were plain bagels. They asked us to come back and they would replace it. Why should we do that? They finally refunded us. Another time, we received only 10 bagels instead of 13 for our baker's dozen. They missed one bagel, may be, but 3? Yesterday, we were going to order the Baker's dozen. We ordered Monday for Tuesday delivery, one whole day ahead, and yet, most every bagels were not available. This is holidays season; they should know better and stock up more ingredients.

I love Panera, just not my experience today! I was eager and looking forward to enjoying my Mac & cheese sandwich. And while doing my order I asked "is that 4 sandwiches?" (In assurance) This girl answered back with an attitude and a smart mouth. All she had to answer was yes or no. Wait, That's not all. My Mac & cheese sandwich was missing. Not happy. I been cooking and making tamales for 2 days after long hours of work and 2 hour traffic. Can i just get break with good customer service and my right order please. . Who ever did her wrong before me thank you. I took the punch for you. Life is though. I know. But learn to appreciate what you have know. We are in a pandemic. Appreciation to one and other is the minimum we can do. Unless you want robots.

I love Panera and I go to several locations but this location is the friendliest. The managers create a fun place for their employees to be and that spills over to the customers. It's like walking in to Cheers- everyone knows everyone else. I love it.

This is a definitive location for all walks of life: neighbors, business employees, seniors, students; and last but not least, the homeless, relatively neat and behaved though. It is under sound management. The register, kitchen counter, convenient room, plastics, paper, and such, are mostly in order and well stocked. The service business is demanding, especially with the labor shortage, but this joint does what it can. Often, I see the manager getting on his hands and knees in the pickup and dining area, multi-tasking as much as one can!

Haven't been to a Panera in years, we thought we would give it a try. The fellow that took our order was trying to be helpful, but the menu was extremely confusing to all 3 of us. We did make our selections, and then we were shocked at how expensive the lunch was, and this was with no drinks. Our food took a while to make, but it was lunch time. It was perfectly fine, but not at all worth the price

I've been coming to this Panera for years. The staff has always been nice. Today Leo was my cashier. He is friendly, fast and knowledegable. He seems very confortable with the register, menu, and ingredients. He was able to suggest items and tell us how ordeing one thing that we wanted or another would save a dollar here or there. In that short amt of time we ordered, he was to establish a connection with me and my family because he was funny, he smiled and even told us stories. Hes excellent at the front. Good job Panera for putting happy employees at the front to greet you as you first enter. The food is always good. I've never had an issue with the food or getting my order mixed up. The only reason why I'm giving Panera in West Covina 4 stars is due to the restrooms. The ladies restroom makes me think I'm at a gas station. It's somewhat dirty but even if they were clean, they need work. They are just ran down. The toilets, sink, soap dispenser and paper towel dispenser still work but just looks ugly. Leo and the staff are awesome!!!

Largely, this is a location with well trained customer service, amenities, and a variety of fares. Parking is mostly not an issue, it is conveniently located at an intersection with multiple entrances to the lot, which is shared by a variety of shops. However, for some reason, the toilet paper dispenser has been broken for a while, and causing the supposedly sanitary item inside keeps dropping to the floor. With this souped-up bakery, boasting thousands of locations, surely having all the resources to fix it in no time!

  • 3/5 Iron W. 1 year ago on Google
Parking seems limited here, even though there is a parking lot. One improvement that can be made is to provide bicycle racks for people that want to commute not using a car when it gets crowded. Other Panera locations have bike racks or comparable nearby, but this one appears to lack them.

It was my first time going to panera in west covina. I was highly disappointed and disgusted. My bread was stale as can be . The pickle was all chupada ,There specialty drinks all needed to be refilled and was so extremely sweet we had to put half water . The tomatoes in the sandwiches were soggy and the peel of it was like plastic I had to keep pulling it out of my mouth since chewing wasn't helping break it down my . The mac and cheese was half filled in the cup and wasn't even warm. The whole restaurant was extremely filthy! Wads of hair all over ! There was trash under majority of the tables and the tables were dirty so I had to clean a table off. There was only teenagers working so maybe that's the issue . Seem like no kind of structure or pride in that store. My family and I will definitely not be returning nobody enjoyed their food and definitely not the environment.

  • 3/5 Kim M. 1 year ago on Google
Food is good and consistent from restaurant to restaurant. However, the service at this particular Panera is barely polite. I am not saying they have to kiss my behind, but a thank you served without the exasperation wouldn't be remiss. And then there's the food service manager filling a large to-go/catering order of teas and lemonade at our self-service station, taking most of these up with not even an excuse me for making me wait while she took all the tea. We went here a number of times because my mom likes the orange scones and this was my experience every time. Left to my choice, I wouldn't have returned.

Food is always good, soup was not very warm. Girl at register was nice but didn't ask about utensils, butter or give us a buzzer. So lots of trips back and forth. Food side wasn't very helpful.

The sandwiches and pastries are good. Good social distancing & everyone was wearing masks. It's very quiet inside. There is some outside dining, but it's not crowded. I felt safe going inside to pick up my order. They have tablets set up so you can order inside without talking to anyone, and there's also online ordering. They have hand sanitizers.

I love Panera - but not this time. In the mood for an egg salad sandwich, and the internet said they served them - nope. The grilled cheese I got was warm, but not at all grilled. Very strange.

  • 5/5 Tracey R. 2 years ago on Google
Came in w/ no appetite. I only have had the salads & I needed to eat more for dinner. I got a sweet young lady to give ideas, Mariah . She knows the menu & gives great advice. I got the chipotle chicken avocado sandwich and cup of broccoli cheddar soup. It was all delicious. I'll come back for it again.

Last time coming here. Wanted to go somewhere to eat and relax after daughters soccer game. Here st 830 they walked around telling guest 10 min before closing that they will be closing in 10 minutes. So had to rush and eat. People waste their money only to be rushed to eat. SMH. They should be glad they got customers coming in.
