Beautiful national park that deserves to be better known. Very well run by fabulous staff. Chalets well equipped, immaculately clean and very affordable.

The chalet we stayed in had the most amazing view and is newly renovated. There are two neat pools and a nice picnic spot in the reserve. The staff is friendly and helpful. I would recommend Mountain Zebra for any person who is on their way on holiday or who just wants a bit of a nature break away.

The park has spectacular views and loads of wildlife. Its well worth visiting. I have to say they have the friendliest and helpful staff here. We visited Dec 2023, some of the roads need some attention so best to drive a car with some clearance. We were very dissapointed as the ablution block at the picknic site was blocked and under water. There is a restaurant and small shop at reception but I will recommend taking your own food and drinks, we ordered some food but it was very dissapointing.

A hidden gem. I love this park and have always left with awesome photographs. The mountain huts are first choice... but the camp sites have become a regular fall back. Only had snow once and loved it!!!

What a fantastic park! Great wildlife, knowledgeable rangers and lovely facilities. Spend a few days camping or at the chalets and enjoy yourself driving the various routes. If you have a 4x4 and are feeling adventurous, you can tackle some of their tougher routes. Plenty to see and do!

This is a SANPARK and one of the best our country has to offer. The park is beautiful in a dramatic and eye-catching way. The family cottages is very neat and clean and worth the stay but all the accommodation the park has to offer is of top quality. The staff and game rangers are very friendly and helpful. The park contains a lot of different animals and there is always some to see on a drive or 4x4 trail.

Nice place to visit. Only stayed over one night. Always walk with shoes on or you will be sorry as there are plenty of thorns. Ablutions are clean and water is hot. Camp sites are not very private

Very nice place, we stayed in the one mountain cottage. Was told we need a 4x4 or high clearance vehicle with diff lock to get to the cottage but I got there quite easily with my front wheel drive mini van although it didn't scrap the ground in one or two places would definitely recommend a higher clearance car. Loads of wildlife so there always somthing to see

Great Park to do self driving game viewing. We saw an amazing variety of herds. We also did the cheatah tracking and could observe Mum with 4 cubs. Thanks to the guides! They gave us much insight in the park and wildlife! Beautiful countryside 👍

As in all SANParks the tariffs are overrated! Beautiful park and roads well maintained. The 4x4 routes are REALLY 4x4 and for experienced drivers only. Maintenance in our chalet needs serious attention.

What an incredibly peaceful escape. If you're looking for somewhere to lose yourself in Nature - this place is it. The little self-catering accommodation units are affordable, comfortable and have the most spectacular views of the rough and untamed Eastern Cape.

Accommodation is excellent. Very comfortable. Fire place that shares the living and sleeping space with an air con for hot days. Oversize bathroom and large sleeping room. Very nice view as per the picture provided. Not a very busy park and a mixture of biome that will excite anyone. The Ubejani route was a misty paradise early in the morning while the afternoon brought hot grasslands and grazing animals to life. Loads of small animals like bat eared fox, mongoose, spotted ganette, brown hyenas, secretary birds, carakal were all spotted during the day or on the night drive. It's also a very historic area for the boere war. It has a beautiful well kept series of pools and camping sights that are very enjoyable. Again not very busy so you can relax. My partner and I fought over the placement in rankings of this one over the other parks we have visited and we conclude that this is a firm 2nd to Kruger. Animals can be seen all over, many mongoose families are around. The usual suspects can be found at almost every turn. If you are an avid flora enthusiast then check the time of year you come because they boast a unique and massive conservancy of indigenous wild flowers and bulbs that are magnificent. Loved the stay. Edit: after doing the Roouplaat/Kranskop loop we are in love.. Absolutely beautiful. Excellent facilities.

Fabulous national park with lot of wildlife. Pretty remote and the closest city is Cradock. Recommend spending 2 days to totally experience everything the park offers.

Superb 4 days, the parks cleanliness was most likely the cleanest I have seen in the world. Very friendly staff, its lovely to be away from the crowds. The scenery is stunning. We saw most of the wildlife in 4 days and would say that 2 to 3 days is better . Its unlikely you will see the cheetah as there is as if 2022 just 4 and only 10 lions but we did not go to see the cats .Highly recommend for all the family. Be aware there is virtually no Internet or mobile signal cafe is limited in choice. The longer hike is very steep and quite challenging especially on the way down, best not attempt unless you are fit and wear good shoes.

Had an amazing experience in June with friends. We had no power our whole stay thanks to a storm but MZNP did their best to ensure we had a great time. One of our favorite parks on the stop, the hikes are lovely and we saw some great game too!

My favorite out of all the SANParks. At one point my family and I were going to the park up to 4 times a year. We've been probably about 25 times over the past 10 or so years. My family already has 2 more trips planned this year, one of which starts next weekend. After going so many times, we've seen just about everything the park has to offer, but still everytime we go, the park never disappoints

First off, I want to say that this park is fabulous. Loads of interesting animals to observe and experience in their natural habitats. The sheer majesty of land is the real star. Mountains and grasslands providing the perfevt backdrop for some spectacular wildlife. Self drive routes allow you the time and space to absorb all the wonders that the park offers. The guided drives in the expert hands of Richard, are an absolute must, his eyes are as keen as an eagles. His knowledge encyclopedic. We stayed, with South African friends, in the family accomodation and to be honest some investment in the accomodation /public areas would take this park into five star category. It's all a bit tired and needs a bit of thought. The level of comfort would have been fine a few years ago but people expect more now, and they would be willing to pay more for that extra comfort. The bottom line though is I would come back in a heartbeat.

Had a wonderful night at Mountain Zebra. The chalets are comfortable and have all the necessities. Saw lots of animals, although we didn't find the lions, cheetah or rhino. Unfortunately there wasn't space on the vehicles for us to do a night drive, but loved the early morning drive.

I saw reviews saying it's a hidden gem and that is the absolute truth! Very friendly staff throughout the park and accommodation has everything that you would need, and the view from the balcony was absolutely breathtaking. We couldn't do the guided activities because we travelled with our 2 year old but still had a lot of fun as a family. Self drive through the park takes around 2-3 hours and we saw a lot of plains game and even saw the lions! If photography is your thing this park is extremely photogenic, not just animals but the landscape is gorgeous! If you are planning a trip to the park, you won't regret it!!

We stayed here for 5 nights. Every day was different. Saw loads of animals. Went on an amazing night drive with Richard. Game rangers were informative and willing to point out sightings when they out during the day managing the park. Chalet spacious and comfortable. Game visible from verandah. Two walks available and stunning pool area. Shop not very well stocked but has the basics.

A wonderfully diverse landscape with breath taking vistas welcomed us to our first visit to this Nature Reserve. We spent the afternoon on a self drive seeing a good variety of animal s including buffalo. The afternoon was capped with coming around a bend and seeing a pride of 13 lions lolling around on the lush green grass. A truly unique experience. We stayed at one of the chalets and enjoyed dinner under the stars at the restaurant in the camp. Worth a second visit for sure!!

Wonderfull! Wonderfull but arrive early and enjoy the wildlife. Five minutes into the park we came across a young bat eared fox. His burrow appeared to have been carved out of an unoccupied termite mound. Three feet from the roadside, its head perched at the opening and looking at us.

(Translated by Google) One of the nicer game parks in South Africa! You can spot many different types of animals here! From zebras to lions and even cheetahs. I had to do the cheetah tour myself to spot these animals, which in itself is a unique experience. The camping spots are also very pleasant (although you do not have as much space as in game parks such as mocala). Definitely recommended to game drive for a few days! It is also okay to go on different tours with guides, so you have the cheetah tour, the lion tour and the morning and evening drive, with which you can admire the park in large safari trucks! It is also possible to do the 4 × 4 trails yourself in this park, although you do need a 4 × 4 vehicle for this. In addition to game driving, you also have various walking routes from the campsite through the rocky area, which gives you a beautiful view of a large part of the park! And as icing on the cake, there is also the possibility to spend the night in mountain lodges, giving you the feeling that you are really in nature! In short, a super nice game park!

The drives and the 4x4 trails are exceptional. The campsites are less than ideal being situated right next to each other and could do with another ablution block. The campsite is the only reason this amazing place loses 2 stars, the rest of our experience was incredible.

Currently very hot, but the Park has obviously had good rains recently and the game is widely dispersed. Scenery is tremendous with great views. Camping accommodation was crowded but clean and well maintained. Logistics and reception staff all cheerful, friendly and helpful. Main camp gate only opens at 06:00 which is way too late. Kruger National Park's camp gates open much earlier which makes allows tourists to avoid the heat of the day. All in all Mountai Zebra is a great place to visit even when Covid restrictions are in place.

A most beautiful national park.We stayed in the mountain cabin and when they tell you you need a 4x4 to get there, BELIEVE them! It's v simple accommodation (&a veranda would add a lot)but perfectly adequate for a few days.Toilet/shower are outside, down a short path.Gas fridge and 2plate were helpful but buy matches and wood before traveling to the chalet as it is about 20-30mins from reception/shop. Stars are magnificent and the pool at the picnic site is well kept and set between quiet hills with no hint of people around.Audacious monkeys are a nuisance though -they stole a big chunk of watermelon while we were cutting it.(Unsurprisingly one had lost half its tail.Knife in hand, I was tempted myself.)One night stopover on way to CT from Pta was too short.Staff are helpful and friendly.

We loved driving through Mountain Zebra NP. Especially the loop road deep into the park through the mountains was excellent. The road is said to be suitable for all car types, but I would certainly recommend a 4x4 or at least high clearance. The road is very steep in some places and passes through water more than once.

Our 1st visit and it was most enjoyable. We stayed in Cradock so was about 10min drive to the park gate. We just went in as day visitors every day. If you have a wildcard entry free Our 1st drive started with 2 buffalo and kudu within 5mins of entering the park. We only did 2 of the loops the 1st day and saw a lot of the plein wildlife, zebras , red hartebeest, wildebeest, springbok, blesbok Reception and shop/restaurant about 7km from gate and 1 gets your permit there to which must be produced when you leave the park Our 2nd day was a highlight as we had amazing sightings of 2 cheetah at different places. There are also cheetah tracking walks 1 can do. The lions remained elusive but we saw some more buffalo The biggest entertainment we got over the 3 days were the ground squirrels who just blocked the road and seemed very habituated There are a few picnic sites and some amazing views of rocks , mountains and a river. The roads are gravel but suitable for all types of vehicles. One could drive the park in about 4hrs

What a wonderful park! Such diversity, something for everyone! Bird life is outstanding, and the views from the short hiking trail in camp are mind blowing. Restaurant staff are good, and the food is more than adequate! Chalets are in need of updating and maintenance is required, but overall we loved every minute there!

Tranquil getaway.Cheetah tracking worth it and our nightdrive was a good experience. Richard our guide was very knowledgable and went the extra mile. Cottage was clean and the cleaner Ndoloyisa was so friendly and polite.Bedding of high quality. Will for sure recommend this to foreigners that want to see the smaller game we sometimes miss.
