1975
a
funcţionat
în
actualul
sediu
al
Secţiei
de
Arheologie
-
Istorie.
În
această
perioadă,
patrimoniul
Secţiei
de
Ştiinţele
Naturii
a
fost
dat
spre
vizitare
publicului
sub
diferite
forme
de
expunere
pâna
în
anul
1963,
când
s-a
dat
în
circuit
expozitia
de
bază,
amenajată
la
parterul
clădirii
din
strada
Madona
Dudu
nr.
44,
realizată
după
un
proiect
tematic
întocmit
de
profesorul
dr.
Ioan
Firu.
Această
expoziţie
a
fost
desfiinţată
în
anul
1975
pentru
extinderea
expoziţiei
de
bază
a
Secţiei
de
Istorie
-
Arheologie.
Între
anii
1975
-
1986,
din
lipsa
unui
spaţiu
adecvat,
activitatea
expoziţională
a
Secţiei
de
Ştiinţele
Naturii
a
încetat,
continuând
activitatea
de
completare
şi
diversificare,
evidenta
şi
valorificare
ştiinţifică
a
patrimoniului.
Noua
campanie
expozitională
a
început
la
13
martie
1986,
la
parterul
clădirii
din
strada
Popa
Sapca
nr.
8
unde
funcţioneaza
şi
în
prezent,
când
au
fost
date
în
circuit
de
vizitare
două
expoziţii
temporare:
"Fluturii
-
petale
zburătoare"
si
"Din
lumea
animalelor".
Cele
două
expoziţii,
au
fost
urmate
periodic
de
zeci
de
expoziţii
temporare
care
au
avut
darul
de
a
rula
valorosul
patrimoniu,
îmbogăţit
şi
diversificat
de-a
lungul
anilor
cu
piese
muzeale
rezultate
în
urma
activităţii
de
cercetare
a
muzeografilor.
Anual
au
fost
realizate
cel
puţin
patru
expoziţii
temporare
la
sediul
Secţiei,
unele
dintre
ele
fiind
itinerate
la
alte
muzee
din
ţară
(Drobeta
Turnu
Severin,
Timişoara,
Târgu
Mureş,
Brăila,
Curtea
de
Argeş,
Suceava,
Bacău,
Bârlad,
Bistriţa
Năsăud
etc).
La
18
septembrie
2008,
s-a
vernisat
expoziţia
de
bază
de
la
etajul
I,
amenajată
în
urma
implementării
proiectului
"Creşterea
atractivităţii
turistice
a
municipiului
Craiova
şi
a
judeţului
Dolj
prin
amenajarea
expoziţiei
de
bază
de
la
etajul
I
-
Secţia
de
Ştiinţele
Naturii
a
Muzeului
Olteniei
Craiova",
depus
la
16
decembrie
2002,
în
cadrul
Programului
PHARE
2001
Coeziune
Economica
si
Sociala
-
Schema
de
finanţare
nerambursabilă
pentru
proiecte
de
infrastructură
mica,
de
către
C.J.
Dolj,
în
parteneriat
cu
Muzeul
Olteniei
-
Secţia
de
Ştiinţele
Naturii

La
22
februarie
2012
a
fost
introdusă
în
circuitul
expoziţional
şi
expoziţia
de
bază
de
paleontologie
“Oltenia
–
Terra
fossilis”,
amenajată
la
parterul
imobilului
din
str.
Popa
Şapcă
nr.
8.
De
asemenea,
în
același
an
s-a
finalizat
amenajarea
spațiului
expozițional
al
secției
prin
realizarea
expoziției
permanente
Universul
și
Sistemul
nostru
Solar,
vernisată
la
4
decembrie,
prilej
cu
care
s-a
inaugurat
Planetarium,
în
cele
două
săli
de
la
etajul
II
al
imobilului.
