Golden
House
is
a
handsomely
restored
19th
century
villa
in
central
Craiova,
with
a
hidden
modern
adjoining
tower
that
greatly
increases
its
capacity.
This
is
where
members
of
the
Romanian
royal
family
stay
on
their
tours
of
this
part
of
the
country
(Oltenia,
aka
Wallachia).
It
is
also
by
tradition
considered
the
richest
part
of
Romania,
and
the
centre
of
town
reflects
this....
Never
have
I
seen
a
greater
concentration
of
splendid
19th
century
palaces
than
in
central
Craiova.
Our
bed
had
a
topper
which
made
it
fit
for
a
Romanian
princess.
The
room
was
furnished
entirely
in
mahogany
which
made
it
feel
very
grand.
I
searched
everywhere
for
a
plug
to
charge
our
phones
,
and
eventually
used
the
bathroom
plug.
The
breakfast
was
disappointing,
maybe
because
we
stayed
so
long
in
the
splendid
bed..
!
