Dined at the renowned Mills Tavern for our fifth wedding anniversary – though if you ask me, we're still basking in that "just married" glow! Mike, our server, was nothing short of spectacular. If you're lucky enough to visit, make it a point to ask for him. For the thirst-quenchers, my lovely wife sipped elegantly on a red from Brancaia, Toscana, Italy, while I kept it classic with a neat Macallan 12 – as handsome as the gentleman drinking it, if I do say so myself. Now, let's talk appetizers! We dove into a full order of Point Judith, RI Calamari, gracefully paired with julienne bell peppers and a delightful sweet and sour mango sauce. And for the pièce de résistance: the 32oz Imported Australian Wagyu Tomahawk Ribeye. Cooked to medium rare perfection, its companionship with Mill's Steak Sauce was truly a match made in culinary heaven. On the side, we indulged in the Creamed Corn (Chef's Choice, mind you) and the Roasted Red Bliss Potato with Caramelized Onion. Both as delicious as they sound! All in all, our evening at Mills Tavern was a feast for both the heart and the palate. Looking forward to many more celebrations here! 🥂🍴

Staff is very attentive. The atmosphere was business casual. There's something delectable on the menu for every pallet. There's a parking lot across the street AND valet parking. Our server, Samantha, was amazing. Every person that walked by made sure we had everything we needed. The only issue is the noise level. It's difficult for people with hearing issues. On the plus side, the food is so good, you'll be too busy eating to want to talk!

Overall the wagu strip steak was incredibly disappointing. Texas roadhouse provides a better end product with a lower quality of meat and a much better price. And while I don't rate Texas roadhouse highly, that is indicative to the disappointment I felt at Mills Tavern. A top Providence restaurant should hold themselves to a much higher standard. Having a young kid. Its not every month we can do a date night. We went out of our way to go to a more expensive restaurant in hopes of guaranteeing a quality meal. We were let down greatly, and the bill was tough to swallow considering the below average meal.

From great bartenders mixing fantastic drinks to a great Anniversary dinner, this place hit all the marks. Food, service, quality and ambiance all 5 star!

We had to wait a bit, but our booth was spacious and comfortable. The food was awesome! I had creamy leek soup, the salmon with risotto, and bread pudding for dessert. Everything was excellent. Also, the cocktail "Traum " was really tasty. I was visiting a long-time friend and I had a wonderful time!

I'm so sorry Mills Tavern, but I so greatly disliked your food. We started with the charcuterie and calamari - calamari had strange flavor choices and charcuterie was... (I have a feeling one of the meats made me sick based on the taste and the texture). Nothing on the menu was appetizing to me so I chose the special side dish of linguine carbonara. I believe it is 100% my fault for ordering that, but it was worse than Cheesecake Factory. On a positive, the service was great. The atmosphere was typical Italain RI. I have never heard of this restaurant in my years living in RI, nor would I ever recommend it based on all of the other choices we have here.

We had an exquisite experience! This is one of the only restaurants I can say that has been a full five star experience from the moment I pulled up, valet parking. We walked through the door to our request of a private window side table by candlelight… Greeted by the hostess that happily took our jackets as we took in the ambience. Once seated we were then greeted by our waitress which was completely passionate about the menu and any questions that we had regarding service. There is not enough good to say about this place, the food was absolutely incredible, from the presentation to the timing, Everything was cooked to perfection and was delicately created with such passionate chefs from Johnson and Will’s university. We then end of the night with signature dessert, that we both could agree made us a bit emotional… It was beyond anything we anticipated! It is truly a remarkable experience at a really amazing price considering everything that was experienced. I would not just highly recommend this place, but I would say to put this at the top of your list. They will not disappoint at all. We will visit back soon…

Excellent customer service from the bar staff! My husband and I enjoyed dinner recently at the bar at Mills. The bar staff, led by Arielle, was very friendly and attentive. As a pregnant woman, it can be quite difficult to enjoy a meal out without worrying about how items are prepared but the salmon was cooked perfectly and was delicious. Arielle created some amazing mocktails, probably the best I’ve ever had. We’ll definitely be back again soon!

Overall, we had a nice dinner at Mills Tavern. Our waiter (Phil) was great and very attentive. Apps came out pretty quick and were good. Main courses took a very long time to come out, which was surprising since the restaurant was fairly empty on a Sunday night. They were decent, though my fish (halibut) was overcooked. Steak was good. I also struggled a bit with the menu, as it was fairly limited.

Excellent steakhouse offering expertly prepared seasonal cuisine. While steaks are the stars here, their lamb, venison, and swordfish are equal to the task. The raw bar is outstanding and as fresh as you'll find anywhere. The menu is seasonal and creative, the service top-notch.

We had a very nicely done halibut and salmon. Wood grilled smoky entrees seem to be their thing. Raw appetizer selection like oysters and clams. Friendly wait staff. Nice place to spend a couple hours. Not a bad walk from the state house.

We had dinner here last night to celebrate Christmas. I have wanted to try Mills Tavern for a while now and this was my boyfriend's Christmas present to me. We had a great time and it was a fantastic food experience. Our waitress was in training and a little nervous but she did a great job. I had lamb and my boyfriend had steak. The chefs really know how to cook meat beautifully. Everything exceeded our expectations. Thank you Mills Tavern! Merry Christmas!!

Went here for dinner a few nights back and it did not disappoint. I heard this was one of the better places to eat in the city and I now know why. Service and atmosphere were great. Food was even better. Had the market fish (bass) over risotto with pineapple avocado salsa. Easily the best dish I've had in the city so far. Came with my partner and the bill between us was $180 (including tip). We got an appetizer, two entrees, and two adult beverages each. I definitely recommend coming here for any occasion. One of the better places to get a meal in the city.

Overall great experience! Came here on a quiet Friday night (09/01) my espresso martini was perfect. My server, Brian, was excellent and very knowledgable of the menu and specials. I loved every one of his recommendations. The market fish was awesome, my first time having halibut. I had the Portuguese bread pudding, the flavor was out of this world. I came here for my birthday dinner and was not disappointed. The complimentary valet was an awesome touch, didn’t even know they had that! Didn’t have to fight for street parking. Overall happy with my experience and would recommend!

I really enjoyed the food and ambience at Mills Tavern. I was here from out of town entertaining local clients. I got the Wagyu steak and it was just amazing! Cooked to perfection. My client's enjoyed their time as well! Would definitely come back when I'm in town.

The entire dining experience was impeccable. Sever was very curations and knowledgeable about the menu and wine pairings. The flavors of every appetizer and entree was complex and delicious. I did not find a single con about this restaurant. 5 stars.

We enjoyed a fantastic Thanksgiving meal at Mills Tavern. The dining experience could not have been any better. From the moment we walked in the door everything was perfect. The entire staff was friendly and welcoming. The four course Thanksgiving meal could not have been any better. The first course came out within 15 minutes and the timing of the remaining three courses was perfect. We will definitely be returning to Mills Tavern!

The food was grossly overpriced. Spent $425 for 4 people and we didn’t go over board at all. I was expecting 250-300. The wait was extremely long. It look more than an hour and a half for us to get our mains. No apologies. I ordered a half bottle of wine and the man made it seem like it was my fault for ordering a wine the don’t have and then asked if I want white haven… if I wanted white haven I would go to the supermarket and buy some. I’m not sure if he treated me like I don’t know anything because I’m young or because he’s slow. I definitely won’t be coming back here after spending that kind of money for risotto that was more rice/barley texture than a creamy risotto… wild mushroom risotto? I didn’t know sliced up baby Bella mushrooms were wild mushrooms. Servings were small in general and everything was over priced. Bread was cold and didn’t taste fresh at all. Oil they gave us to dip the bread was orange/red which means it was off and didn’t taste like olive oil at all. Definitely a facade trying to pretend to be fine dining. Pick somewhere else if you are looking to spend good money somewhere.

Mill's Tavern consistently delivers on service and quality, upscale dining. Make a Wednesday special and come here for an unforgettable, delicious dinner with wine specials. Or enjoy oysters and cocktails at the bar before a night out. It's truly a gem. Mill's is my go to recommendation for a special occasion or to people from out of town.

Our server was lovely and the ambiance was welcoming and relaxing. The food did take a bit long to arrive and my soup was chilly. Regardless of the temp the flavor was top notch. I just wish it had been hot. Cocktails were perfect! Thank you!

Had a wonderful dinner tonight! They even made a little birthday decoration on the table for my wife. The sirloin was cooked perfect and the lamb was melt-in-your-mouth. Our server Samantha made solid drink recommendations and was the right amount of attentive. She did a wonderful job. The triple sorbet dessert was also amazing! We went in early and by the time we were leaving it was starting to get busy. Would recommend an earlier reservation as it felt like private dining :)

Won’t be back anytime soon after visiting Mill’s Tavern during Restaurant Week, July 2022. Our dinner this evening was a huge disappointment. We go fairly regularly to Mill’s Tavern, especially for special occasions, because their chef and service used to be top notch. Something must have changed in the past few months because I can honestly say that I haven’t had such a bad meal in a restaurant in years. I ordered calamari as a starter that was—for lack of a better word—disgusting (3 people ordered it in my party and we all agreed it was not edible). Should have gotten a salad. As far as entrees go, my mother’s pork was “blah” and my pasta was sticky. The salmon was decent but it was a very small portion. If the server had asked us if we enjoyed our food we would have told him no—but he did not ask. There was an incredibly long wait between our main courses and dessert. When dessert did finally come, the server did not offer us coffee. In addition, it was my mother’s birthday and her dessert did not come with any special birthday wish from the restaurant. She was very disappointed in the food and service, as Mill’s Tavern was one of her favorites and why she chose it for her birthday dinner. All in all, for such poor quality, dinner seemed very overpriced at $40 for an appetizer, main, and dessert. We hope this restaurant can get a skilled chef and more professional wait staff on board again so we can come back some day soon.

Recently had Dinner there with several other Family members. Located on South Main Street in Providence. It's a Fine Dining Venue that has been around for a very long time, but I'm not sure what the attraction is. We found the place very loud and probably not the best choice for bigger groups where people want to catch up with each other. I literally had to get up and go to the other end of the table to be able to talk with my other Family members. Probably best for an intimate dinner, although I didn't find anything special about the decor. The food was good, not great, and the portions where on the smaller side, and rather expensive. Everything was also ala carte. I had the Swordfish and that Entree was $32.00. The side dishes could be shared and everyone was happy with them. For our table of nine, the total bill with tip was $640, and everyone only had 1 cocktail or glass of wine, no appetizers or desserts. It seemed like our Server was more interested in jacking up the bill than taking care of us. Not a place that I would go back to anytime soon, especially in Providence where there are dozens of other fine restaurants to pick from that have better food and a nicer atmosphere. The do offer Valet Parking there, which is good because parking is always an issue in Providence.

Incredible steak. Good drinks. Exceptional service! Our group had Phil as our waiter and he was attentive, knowledgeable and friendly! Started with oysters that were fresh and delicious. I got the rib-eye for my main dish that was nice and big. Ended with sorbet and coffee that were perfect. Our table was granted some delicious ice creams because it was our anniversary. The only downsides (and these are super small) of our experience were the valet parking and overhead lighting. The valet was nowhere to be found. The person ahead of us walked around looking for someone. When they were unsuccessful, we parked in the pay lot across the street. For the overhead light - the room is very dark, and we had a light that kept blinking brightly and became rather distracting. We moved past it because the meal was incredible and our server (Phil) was so charming. I will be happy to return!

Good service. The shrimp cocktail was underwhelming and small, they should consider getting jumbo shrimp. The steak was good but didn’t wow me. For a high end price point the quality of food doesn’t align. Everything tasted fine but would prefer a capital grill meal instead.

We booked a corporate event with Mill's Tavern. It was such a great event that I wanted to leave a review for any other groups out there wondering where they can book a group event in Providence. They were really quick to respond when I filled out the request online. We liked that there was a prix fixe menu, which helped with budgeting. They were also great about accommodating special diet requests. We had a choice of private room or open dining. The service was wonderful and the meal was excellent from start to finish. Everyone is still raving about it. Thanks to everyone at Mill's Tavern, with special thanks to Meredith, for helping us plan a successful event. Sue

What a great meal! We were sat early on a Saturday night at a quaint little table for two. The ambiance was great with the exception of the draft as one of our seats was fairly close to the door. There was a space heater there to alleviate the chill, but the breeze was often a bit chilly. Other than that (which is obv somewhat out of their control) the experience was great. We went out looking for a great steak and our expectations were met. Our waitress (Lynne) was great. Personable and knowledgeable. The calamari was crispy and the sauce was well well done. We ordered the Wagyu New York Strip and it was excellent. Juicy and tasteful. The side of brussel sprouts was okay - nothing too special there but the mac and cheese was amazing. Lastly the sundae dessert was decadent. Kudos to our waitress for recognizing the long wait for our meal (as there were many larger tables who had just ordered) and served us complimentary glasses of champagne. Which was a nice touch seeing as we barely noticed. This will def be a return.

Celebrated graduation day at this fine establishment. The service (Phil) was attentive, professional and made our evening so special. Catch of the day was halibut risotto -absolutely perfect! Braised short ribs were excellent. Nice wine selection. In addition, many gluten free options with recommendations and great understanding and care by the wait staff and chefs. Highly recommend and Will definitely be back!

It's rare to come across a restaurant that goes above and beyond to ensure their guests have a memorable experience. During my visit, I ordered a cider with a cinnamon rim. While enjoying my drink, I noticed that my hands were getting a bit sticky from the cinnamon. To my surprise and delight, my server noticed this and promptly brought over a hot napkin out of the blue. It was a small gesture, but it made a significant impact on my dining experience. The server's attentiveness and thoughtfulness truly showcased the exceptional service at Mills Tavern. And now, let's talk about the food. I opted for their signature filet mignon, and it was absolutely divine. The steak was cooked to perfection, tender and juicy, melting in my mouth with every bite. The accompanying sides were equally delightful, complementing the main dish beautifully. The ambiance at Mills Tavern is also worth noting. The restaurant has a warm and inviting atmosphere that sets the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable dining experience. The elegant decor, combined with the subtle lighting, creates a sophisticated yet comfortable setting that enhances the overall enjoyment of the meal.

I was a little nervous about eating here because I came here a few years ago and I was a bit underwhelmed. I'm SO glad I gave it another chance!!! I was wished a happy birthday and there was a little birthday card on our table. Our waitress Allison was ABSOLUTELY incredible and I cannot say enough good things about her. She complimented my outfit, my perfume and everything and made me feel so special. Plus when I asked about mocktails she checked with the bartender and had them make me something custom. In addition when I asked if the menu items I wanted to order were gluten free she double checked to make sure they were and then even advised me when my husband's food came what I could and could not eat on his plate in case I wanted a taste. We also got complimentary champagne for my birthday and because I had ordered a mocktail she considerately brought me a ginger ale instead. All in all, the night was fantastic and Allison definitely deserves some special recognition for being so wonderful. Also all of the food was delicious, and we'll definitely return for our next special occasion. I would highly recommend this place to everyone!!!

I hate to leave a review like this as Mills Tavern has been our favorite restaurant and clearly is among the very best in the city. My wife and I have been loyal customers for several years. This evening my wife brought me to Mills for my birthday dinner but unfortunately our experience was extremely disappointing. I ordered my all time favorite item on the menu - the 12 ounce Australian Wagyu strip. I ordered my steak medium rare; as shown in the picture below it was served to me basically raw. I know nothing is perfect and restaurants can have an off night, but what was really discouraging was the fact that the server and the manager seemed to place the blame on me, as the customer, for my displeasure over the quality and condition of what I was served and for not having spoken up sooner. I would hope and reasonably expect for a restaurant of this caliber and reputation that the management would have show concern over what was produced in their kitchen and regret over how it came out. Initially the server asked if everything was ok at the beginning of the meal but was not seen again for quite a while, despite the fact that I was sitting at the table not eating for at least 20 minutes. In fairness the manager did reduce the cost of my steak by 50% which was fair and reasonable, but I would have hoped that the manager and server would have shown more concern over the quality and condition of what I was served and the fact that my birthday dinner was basically ruined. No apology was offered and no regret shown…not a good experience to have for a birthday celebration. Again I am sincerely very sorry to leave a review like this but in fairness it should be something that the ownership and leadership of one of Providence’s best restaurants are aware of.

It was my birthday and the Kitchen very graciously held the last Wagyu Tomahawk Steak for me. The hostess was very welcoming and the kitchen prepared a delicious meal for my lovely partner and I. Our server was attentive but more worried about selling us stuff and getting us to buy things and upselling me to fatten his tip than helping me to enjoy my birthday. When I said no to his several attempts, he would breathe heavily and walked away. That was disappointing to see him act like that. I hope he treats other customers with respect. I will be coming back, but requesting another server. Otherwise, I would give 5 stars. He didn't even wish me a happy birthday. All in all delicious meal and my taste buds were very satisfied. Funny how we tip servers enormously based on a percentage of the meal who treat us poorly and who just drop off plates and pick then up. Work on your table manners "bro" as you called me.

Amazing service, amazing food! We went to dinner during Restaurant Weeks August 2020, which can be challenging in normal times. This was our first indoor experience during the pandemic, and it was great. Between plexi glass dividers, disposable menus, masks, and distancing, they're doing everything right. Our server was knowledgeable about the two menus, and the food was not only delicious but also beautiful!

Excellent service, nice atmosphere, the food was perfect, we ordered 3 petite filet mignons, well done/medium well/medium. The three came out perfect, first time that happens to us. The prix fixe menu for $40 is absolutely worth it (appetizer, entree & dessert), may want to add a side dish, can't go wrong with the maccaroni or mashed potatoes. We really enjoyed our time there, I appreciate our waitress reminding us to wear mask if getting up from the tables. The table spacing is perfect also

I am so disappointed. I have known of Mills Tavern for 20 years or so and have never dined here. With having been locked down for 3 months due to covid-19, then reopening my business and working non stop for 3 months, I sought a special evening with my partner. The evening was sublime. Samantha was our waitress. Even with a mask on, you could tell she was smiling and was happy to be back at her craft. We ordered oysters to start and then the calamari. Of course RI oysters are perfection this time of year and they went down so easy. When she came back to clear round 1 , I asked... Did you fire the calamari yet? She already knew. We wanted more oysters! The calamari eventually came and was delicious! Cajun inspired I believe and very unconventional for RI. Yum! Steaks, fillet and the like are an art and science. I was craving the rib eye, and this night they had an offering of Point Judith day boat scallops with a strong sear... This sounded too good to pass up, so I got 2. One for me and one to share with my partner. Rib eye. Oh that rib eye! Words and the English language fail to express how beyond perfect it was. We got 2 sides. Asparagus and Mac n cheese. Now for the disappointment. Disappointed. Disappointed in myself for not coming here sooner. Disappointed for all the money I've wasted at other restaurants over the years, looking for a great steak cooked to perfection. All of it a waste! My 401k would be so much bigger in fact had I just come here all along! This restaurant has solidified itself as a leader in RI and as far as I'm concerned, well beyond lil Rhody! To add to this review, if you had any questions on the level of detail they may have missed. I left my email address on the receipt, to be signed up for their rewards program. Before I got to the highway, I had an email welcoming me to their rewards program. Good food and an elevated experience is everything to me. This was exceptional food and service. Kudos! You have reopened after Covid-19 hiatus at the top of the game! Your team is to be commended! Thank you for all you do for those of us who appreciate the experience you give!

I have loved this restaurant for years. We came here to try the vegan dishes they had on the Providence Restaurant Week menu. Parking was super easy on a weeknight, but they also offer valet. The hostess was friendly and confirmed our reservation and acknowledged we were there for a special occasion. She sat us in a reserved table in the window and there was even a happy birthday card from staff.

Great place for a romantic evening. It was busy Saturday night and our server seemed to have gone missing for a little bit before the end of our meal, but the meal was delicious and memorable.

We were in the area visiting Brown and a friend told us about Mills Tavern. Very beautiful place. The food was amazing, we had the calamari(a different spin on it), ceviche was surprisingly delightful, oysters(some of the best I’ve had in a long time) and and the tomahawk wagyu(cooked to perfection) with mashed potatoes and asparagus. Service was great. Definitely will be back.

Had the all inclusive Butternut Squash Risotto, an unbelievable culinary experience. I look forward to exploring more of their menu when they open back up.

One of my favorite places in providence. The food here is beyond delicious. A little bit pricy but absolutely worth it.
