of places I've visited in my neighborhood, and having experienced blatant outward Racism.... This place was a relief, concerned only with the quality of drink and the needs of the customer (me).. and they were nice as well as having a comfortable atmosphere

Great atmosphere, even better prices for happy hour. They don't serve food all the time but let you bring in anything you want. Friendly bartenders and nice patio, great spot!

Not that much different than the Black Boar bar before it. A nice drink selection, good taps, surprisingly large can selection for its size and friendly staff. If you can find a place to park near it, I recommend going.

One thing leads to another and you find yourself at the Black Boar, sipping a great drink next to entertaining, friendly people listening to the violent femmes. It felt surreal but maybe just another night at the Black Boar. Classic bar. Really friendly and knowledgeable barkeeps.

A nice place for a quite drink by a dim light. A great spot for friends to gather, really old school. Great prices for happy hour, fun games and friendly staff.

The owner was behind the bar, the atmosphere is attitude-free and friendly. Sports on without the sound (not sure if that's always). Patio is lovely but could use shade. Thoroughly enjoyable experience.

Cool vibes, locals hang out for sure.Bartenders are very accommodating and are on point with serving your drinks. Music that was being played Funk R&B soul Rock and roll. Not too bad.

Formerly known as The Old Chalet this lovely watering hole has changed in name only. Warm and welcoming staff, varied and reasonably drinks and a convivial atmosphere. And don't worry, they still have the legendary Shotski* to impress your friends and embarrass your parents. 😄 * (Shotski is in hibernation until after Covid) 🤫🐻💤

A wonderful little dive hiding in plain sight in Eagle Rock. Great music ranging from the 60s-90s, laid back atmosphere, and a nice mix of folks.

Good place for drinks if you don’t like overly crowded bars. Drinks are serve quickly, patio in the back and outdoor seating in the front.

The one star is because there is no food. I'm sure if they had it, it would be great. It's a fun little place to get a drink and hang.

The Fable is the best cultural hub for grown-ups in Eagle Rock, with karaoke, live music, stand-up comedy, and movie screenings. The crowd is diverse, friendly, and varies a lot night to night. The owner is well-regarded by employees and patrons alike...a real stand-up guy. Everyone who works there is awesome. Jerks are politely shown the door.

Cool place. Sucks they only have one bar tender so you’ll wait for a good 15 minutes for your drink.

Great outdoor scene here. I enjoyed how the inside and outside are both cool in their own way, and gotta love the giant boar head, reminding you of what once was. Had beers and great conversations here.

Met up with someone here and it was my first time. This place turned out to be pretty cool! Has a cozy, dimly-lit, tavern-esque vibe but with classic funk and rock tunes playing on the speakers. The music was a manageable volume most of the night with it only getting slightly difficult to talk over a couple of times. It wasn't a crazy party place, but also, if you're looking for a quieter, more intimate setting, this place probably isn't it. There's a few booths, a few tables, a few TVs, a small dartboard in the corner, and some additional seating at the bar. They have some good stuff on tap, and in bottles. They serve cocktails, as well, and have happy hour (5p - 7p, nightly) discounts. Overall, I'd recommend this place, especially if you haven't been before.

Last night I was in eagle rock and at that time I had a really tough day. So as I'm driving I hear the sounds of laughter. I go in security smiled and it was kareoki night. As I observe the bar I noticed people just experiencing happiness to forget about life. So I saw the owner not only is he a happy person but also a kind soul. I asked last minute I had a tough day he put me in to sing my song he basically made my day. Then he hugs me outside to say hope you have a better day tommorow now that is very rare. It shows a business owner with character and empathy towards others. If you want to be in the best bar with awesome people good service from bartender go here in my personal opinion this is the best bar in all of eagle rock. Beautiful area in the back to have your drinks and welcoming smile from people there to forget about life for a while. I rate this place 5 stars but it really is a 7 star.

This is a great bar. Inside feels like a proper bar with a good layout, plenty of places to sit and hang out, and there's a nice outdoor space. It could use more and better seating, but it's serviceable. Would go again.

One of my favorite local bars. This location is especially good if you're looking for a place to chill with your friends and talk. Big, comfy booths, a corner with wingbacks and bench seating, and tons of lounge space in the back patio. On top of that, they have karaoke M/Th, darts, a BBQ joint that's open some nights, and friendly bar staff. Of course, the drinks are good too!

A cool local bar with nice indoor seating and an outdoor patio area for those that'd prefer a little more space. The indoor area looked clean and well maintained. The bartenders served you promptly.

I can't speak for busy hrs , I stepped in on a Friday night/Saturday morning at 1am . The place wasn't packed, the doormen was nice and followed pandemic protocols, the bartender she was friendly and gave great drink recommendations, she served us in fast fashion.I have no complaints.

This place is a very fun and cozy place to enjoy a beer and play darts. I love the atmosphere and feel of it. It definitely lives up to it's name.

Great, dark bar with a wonderful happy hour and beer selection. The patio is also great, but like any patio in the city of LA, if you are not a smoker, it’s not a place meant for you. Would love to have a place around like this to make my local haunt.

Outside back patio, an iconic mounted boar head staring right back at you when seated at the boar. Dark comfy and and extensive list of cocktails and brews. It's been through 3 incarnations: the Chalet , then the Black Boar and now the Fable. They were all good.
