One of the unique screens they got. Special mention to their Xtreme screen with Dolby 7.1 surround system and Onyx 4k HDR screens.

Went to the Onyx cinema because I heard the screen was amazing... Overall viewing experience was fine, but nothing overly special. Got there 30 minutes before the movie started, entered because there wasn't anyone inside. It was a mess, staff had plenty of time between sessions to clean, but they obviously did not. As you can see in my pictures, there's popcorn dumped on the floor, trash left on seats and in the 30 minutes I was in there waiting not one staff member walked in to even investigate if the place needed cleaning. The screen, sure it looked nicer than the ordinary screen, but don't go out of your way to experience it. It wasn't that much of a step up from your average cinema screen. Sound quality was meh, like watching a movie at home with regular surround sound speakers. After you wipe all the popcorn off the seats, they're fairly comfortable. The rows are nicely separated and private. The emergency exit lights are a bit bright and distracting, but not much you can do about that. Used my discover voucher, so I saw the movie for only 80c, so at least I don't feel ripped off, but I wouldn't want to pay full price for this "experience". To top it off, getting here sucks unless you have a car. Transport options are lacking big time.

Awesome cinema - the Xtream screen here is massive! The cinema is super comfy with recliner seats and a good distance between rows and seats. Plenty of snacks to chose from - Frozone, chips, lollies, popcorn etc and there is also a bar that serves alcohol. I reckon more seating in the foyer is needed so people can hang out before heading into the cinema. Toilets are well maintained. 3hr free parking is available at Wilson with a validated ticket - do this at the cinema. Lots of options for pre or post movie food at EQ.

It’s been a long time since I attended a movie at Hoyts in the Entertainment Quarter. It was actually really cool. The theatre I went into was huge and each seat was a big comfortable recliner with plenty of room for popcorn and drinks. The popcorn was good and there was plenty of snack to purchase.

This is the second day in a row that I have tried coming to enjoy some relaxation time over my very rare time off over weekends. Yesterday my seat wasn't working and well guess what? Today it wasn't either. It took us chasing around to find the staff to assist and the only reason I'm even giving 3 stars is because of the assistance and kindness of the manager who assisted me yesterday and Joseph who assisted me today. Such a shame, this is my favourite cinema, I drive around 40-50 minutes to come here just for the cinema. The place is still stunning and the cinema is very pretty but sadly so far I've had awful luck with the DBox seats.

Cinema is great. Lovely and spacious atrium. Onyx is very good indeed. Only problem, parking... You might get an extra hour validating but if you go over 3 hours (Napoleon, Oppenheimer etc) you get back charged from 2. Not worth it. Too far to walk fully exposed from the Light rail. Will go to George St Event instead in future.

Watched a film at Xtremescreen 3 and the seats we booked were dirty with scattered popcorn. The food outlet area is messy too with spilled and stepped on candies. They really should just make the parking 4 hrs free for cinema goers as some films can get to 180min. Still ended up paying for the extra hour when a bit over. Seats, screen and audio is exceptionally high as per usual Hoyts standard.

Went for the D-BOX experience to watch Top Gun Maverick and it was great! The seats were moving in sync with the movie, making it a fun immersive experience. Being able to control the motion intensity was also great as we could tailor the experience to our liking. The seats in the D-BOX room are also very comfortable, and reclinable. The tickets weren’t much more expensive than the regular tickets, so I’d definitely recommend it (just the comfort of the seats make it worth it!) About the overall cinema experience, we were happy with it: the cinema was clean, the screen was great, and there were many choices of snacks & drinks (they were expensive but not surprisingly so for cinema’s food). The only downside was that the popcorn got a bit too salty at the end.
