Worst stay of my whole life! Management team are absolutely appalling. The grounds are spectacular and the hotel has high potential but was completely let down by the service/ rooms & food. Hotel should not be advertised as luxury - it’s dirty and basic! Our bedding was ripped and carpets/ sofa had stains all over them. Cobwebs & spiders everywhere. Food is nothing short of canteen style so if you’re looking for a plush staycation… save your money, time and hopes for somewhere else. I’d have rather stayed in a backpackers! Hotel needs a complete refresh so if you’re visiting the spa… do NOT book to stay over! Tried to express our disappointment with the staff but they were not interested, was an extremely stressful day … not to mention I am pregnant & it was my birthday. I ended up crying and pleading to the manager to refund us and he refused, admitting he had the ability to do so but simply didn’t want to! AWFUL HOTEL, please do not go!!!

We arrived at lunch time check in was smooth and the reception staff were professional friendly, and informative. Lunch was adequate, but the staff need an up date on service, plenty of staff but lack of training means they weren't cleaning the tables several customers actually cleaned their own table. Lunch of stale ciabatta bre ad, wasn't very appealing The hotel was very comfortable, excellent decor, in public rooms also the bedroom where tastefully decorated. The spa was an added bonus this alone made the trip . Well staffed,by informative staff a most enjoyable weekend.

After contacting the reception after leaving the hotel I was made aware over the phone that via the CCTV system in the hotel they also record audio at numerous locations around the hotel including the reception. I asked if the audio was recording all of the time and a manager confirmed it was. So in essence private conversations are being recorded throughout the hotel which is contrary to the guidance set out by the Information Commissioners Office which states in relation to audio recording using surveillance equipment "You should not usually use surveillance systems to directly record conversations between members of the public. This is highly intrusive and unlikely to be justifiable in most circumstances". So please be aware that your private conversations may not be so private! So the Hotel replied that they are fully compliant? although the ICO guidance is very clear that audio recording of public private conversation should only be done in "exceptional" circumstance! So if I am having a private conversation with my partner in the reception area which has nothing to do with the hotel or their staff is this exceptional? no its not. If I am talking to my son in the bar area and that conversation does not involve the hotel or staff, is that exceptional? no its not. Carden Park management please read the guidance as you are breaching it!

We go away every year to various venues that offer golf, accommodation including breakfast and evening meals. The whole group of 28 people all agreed it was the best venue we had stopped in over the 9 year's we have been doing our annual tour. Definitely will be returning, The staff were exceptional and couldn't do enough to help. The golf courses were fabulous and great value. 5 star from us all. Neil and all the milestone trophy 🏆 lads had the best 3 days possible 👏 👍

Absolutely loved our experience there. The view was stunning and location was gorgeous. The staff shouldn't have been more accommodating and polite. The only reason I gave 4 stars for the room was the amount of noise it let in. Several times we were woken up throughout the night by noisy guests, so perhaps noise insulation could've been better. Otherwise, our stay was excellent. Highly recommended. We'll definitely be going back

The service was great and the staff extremely friendly and helpful, the rooms were clean well presented and with comfortable beds. Unfortunately the wedding venue arrangement coupled with the location of the bar was not the greatest and often guests were mingling with the hotel residents attending seminars. Speaking of the bar, standby for some eye watering prices £19.20 for 3 beers and the range of bar food offered wasn't what I was expecting for the quality of the venue. On the whole a nice hotel furthermore if your into ruining a good walk by following a little white ball. I didn't use the spa so can't pass comment.

I came here with my friends - for a graduation celebration. It's a great experience, and we all enjoy it. It was very relaxing; luckily, it was warm weather which is a bonus! Foods are great, no complaint! The staff is amicable and helpful. Our spa package included massage, brunch and a healthy light snack. We enjoyed the massage - it's very relaxing! We also enjoyed the spa, including a thermal bath, hot tub, five different types of steam and showers that come with four types of experiences like a rainforest!

The most amazing spa stay we have ever had (we do a lot of them) you will not be disappointed coming here believe me!! The actual spa is something else! Redmonds restaurant inside is very reasonably priced and the food is amazing! So fresh and tasty, compliments to the chef! A lovely young lady called Elysha checked us in, could not do enough for us, so friendly and professional (as where all of the staff here) Lucy (waited on us at redmonds restaurant) was such a lovely young lady, a pleasure and a credit to the restaurant, and Matthew at goldies bar made us the most unreal cocktails and was a lovely young man! Will 100% be coming back here!

Great golf trip. Hotel is superb. Service, food, pool/sauna/steam room all top notch. Golf course was very wet but playable, which is a huge credit to the golf team. A great time had by my party. Will be back!

Rooms are basic, aging and need a good clean. Bed was uncomfortable and the radiator, which was turned off, was loud meaning a poor night's sleep. Bar in shooting Lodge had very slow service, not at all the fault of the staff that were trying their hardest. Breakfast was lovely. Staff were overall very good. Has so much potential but falls short. Unless there for the golf or spa, I'd say you'd be better staying at somewhere like the Premier Inn in Chester itself

Beautiful hotel. Immaculate facilities. Unbelievable grounds. Delay on tea/coffee offering at breakfast if you don't want machine coffee, but that was the only 'issue'!

Lovely place. The spa is excellent. We came for a half day with afternoon tea. The vegan options were quite poor. I had the same sandwiches 4 times for the afternoon tea! They need some imagination in the vegan choices.

The food and service in the brasserie were both very good with friendly helpful staff. The bedrooms were a reasonable size but I was shocked to have a small fan in there and no air con. The leisure club was a nice place to visit and again the staff were very helpful and friendly. The postcode for the hotel needs to be sorted so that sat nav actually takes you to the hotel.

We had a lovely spa day experience at Carden park. The location is lovely and the outdoor area is amazing. However for the price of the spa day you don’t expect to have to pay an additional £10 for a tiny piece of chicken on the salad when it describes lunch as included. For the price we expected more from the lunch and not a poor salad with a few lettuce leaves then a bill at the end for the chicken and drinks. This did let them down and we were disappointed. Overall the day was lovely but Carden park please review your package and what’s included.

Carden Park isn’t what it used to be unfortunately, it’s a shadow of its former self. Once one of the best hotels in the area, it’s become travel lodge in a fancy dress. We spent the night here and selected the Chester Zoo package (which came with tickets for the zoo the following day. We didn’t expect the zoo experience to begin at the hotel. The rooms are okay, but when you look closely they’re tired and need some updating. The beds are uncomfortable and the pillows like rocks. There is no air conditioning and you’re provided with a Poundland fan to keep you cool during summer. We booked a table in the restaurant for the evening, as I remembered it being a nice ‘fine dining experience’ but I was totally wrong. We were seated in an area surrounded by babies, children and parents who stick their children down with an iPad in front of them and provide them zero engagement. This was far from the enjoyable experience I had planned, so not being able to put up with loud noise and poorly behaved children anymore, I asked to be moved to more quieter part of the restaurant…but was told I wouldn’t be able to be moved. Great. The food is okay, but again it’s basically overpriced pub food. The price doesn’t match the quality of the environment of the restaurant. Very disappointing. I won’t be returning.

One of the best spa’s I’ve been to in the UK, i have been here for my anniversary for the past few years. The customer service is outstanding and the massages are very relaxing. They even have halal food options and control the amount of visitors in the outdoor and indoor spa, so its never too busy or noisy. I have booked in to visit again in a couple of weeks for my anniversary.

A lovely property with 2 great golf courses, spa & driving range. We visited with a golf group & all was organised really well. Sgame about the dinner that they had ordered az they were let down by the hotel kitchen. Breakfasts were good though. Some of the staff left much to be desired as especially in the restaurant on Monday night. We complained on leaving & apologies provided & some cost removed from the bill. I am sure if the right staff were on this review would be more upbeat!

We went away for our minimoon and had a great time. Staff were helpful throughout and did not pause to help us with anything we needed. The spa was just as lavish as we expected it to be with staff on hand to assist with anything. There’s everything you expect a boutique spa to have with much more.

Excellent services, room was clean and beautiful with a balcony over looking the garden. Five star🌟 fine dinning what else? Regret not booking the spa. All round fantastic experience worth every penny. Will do again 👍

Throughly enjoyed our little honeymoon visit to Carden Park. Service throughout the resort was exceptional - staff extremely courteous and helpful. We had dinner in the Brasserie where attention to detail was outstanding, and our meals were better than some of the fancy places we have eaten in London. My only disappointment is that I don't play golf so was unable to make full use of the glorious course. Would recommend for a weekend getaway or day visit. Top quality resort!!!

Carden park is a very special place and we are lucky to live close by but that still doesn't stop us staying over sometimes to. The spa is exceptional and a great experience if you have not been before. We have also really enjoyed every meal that we have head from breakfast, afternoon tea and dinner as well.

Had my wedding here, service was spot on. Grounds well kept. The wife is over the moon with the outcome and service . Rooms are a bit pricey for what you get, but overall, we were very pleased with the service received.

Just returned from a fantastic relaxing stay with my wife! The hotels grounds and golf course are visually stunning. The staff were friendly and helpful from our arrival and the rooms were a great value for money. The spa and leisure facilities are brilliant, as was the food at the restaurant. We have previously attended a wedding at Carden Park but this was the first time staying there. Overall, I would highly recommend a visit.

Stayed as a package deal with spa afternoon. Used the spa first then booked in. We were upgraded to the main part of the hotel with estate view rooms ( overlooking the sculpture park) Restaurant was very nice but beware of accepting the offered water as you sit down as we said yes to it ( plain water in a bottle) and were charged £4:20 for it. Just ask for tap water if you need water , as it is just as good.Lovely room with good tea/ coffee facilities even water in the fridge and wine glasses provided ( we brought our own wine to drink in room as the wine is very expensive at the hotel)nice bedding warm room and nice bathroom with basic toiletries ( shower wash shampoo and conditioner but in tiny bottles and only one of each ) Breakfast is amazing with plenty of choice and lovely fruits and danish pastries available , cereals and all the full breakfast you can help yourself too.Did not use the leisure facilities but told lovely and can use after check out at 11am.Would stay here again but it is expensive so only as a extra special treat.

Superb place, we only went for a staff day out. It was great I got to do vertigo which was really good. The top tier is terrifying on the last obstacles near the top. The segways and archery are very good too. The food they put on in the morning was very limited if you don't like bacon butties though, so maybe pack something if you are vegan or vegetarian the photo is what was handed to my colleague when they said they were vegan and gluten free! 🤣

Most definitely one of the nicest places I've stayed...a mile up the drive past the 2 golf courses and ponds to be greeted by a beautiful looking hotel The staff were very warm and welcoming and quite down to earth with how posh this place looked The spa was amazing and worth 'Best New Spa of Britain' award and had a great relaxing day there The rooms were nice and spacious and the beds were huge, plenty of space to roll over! The breakfast was amazing and a great choice There were quite a few golfing parties and, although I'm not brilliant at playing the game, I would definitely come back here to play a round or 2 with a few lads! It was also a very romantic place to take my fiancée and we had a nice stroll around the beautiful gardens before we left There is so much to do here and would recommend a couple of days staying here Thank you 😊

We went to Carden Spa for a hen do. The spa was immaculately clean. Drinks were provided in plastic cups as you are allowed in the jacuzzi. I personally would prefer glass and not allowed near the jacuzzi. The hotel is a walk from the spa. Considering it is 5 star, we took our own bags to the room. There was no air conditioning except a fan. The tea coffee facilities were good. The rooms were clean with 2 double beds in each room. This was a real positive. There was no hotel information in the room which I found disappointing as I had to Google the breakfast times. I would have had a swim in the morning but did not know there was a pool to access. The food and service was faultless however when we asked to remove the service charge from our bill, the waitress said for us to hear "they're whinging about the service charge" I found this very un professional. Overall nice stay, lovely food and friendly staff, well most of them.

I had a spa day here on Wednesday with my sister and niece. It was amazing. Peaceful and relaxing. Excellent food and service. The treatment rooms have been thoughtfully created. Can't wait to go again.

One of my favourite spas ever! I was very fortunate to have a few days of sunshine here in such a beautiful setting. From the moment I arrived until check out was perfect. The hotel was lovely and very quintessential in my opinion. But the Spa is the major WOW factor. So peaceful & relaxing. I had breakfast & lunch in the Elements bar & restaurant it was amazing, then a few drinks in the evening. Fresh ingredients and wonderful staff. Everything in the spa was so clean and polished. I would recommend that you make time for a treatment and use of all the thermal facilities.

This review is solely for the spa. The Spa at Carden is heavily marketed as part of Carden Park Country Hotel on their website which we had the pleasure to stay at for a few days. The Spa was a big part of our stay. We walked in to see if we could book in for some well deserved treatments at the spa. Unbeknown to us the Spa is a completely separate business set up. The inconvenience we felt by a staff member, Debbie Russell was one of sheer distaste...she couldn't wait to get rid of us unless we had booked via their QR Scan code system ...where has customer service gone..even to look at offering us what services may be available failed to enter Debbie's front of house service. Dreadful and rude is to be polite. Avoid Debbie Russell.

Recently I went to Carden's spa with 4 of my companions. Being a spa fan and haven't not having the option to go for close to 12 months, I did my exploration - and I'm so happy I did. The gladly received, food, medicines, offices, gardens, staff just as the actual spot was totally impeccable. I have been to spas which are over twofold the cost and I can sincerely say I favor Carden. I will book an overnight stay with my accomplice in the following not many months. Extremely intrigued!

I stayed there for my birthday for 1 night ,I arrived there late night so could not use the spa facilities or anything. After speaking to the staff about it they arranged an extra 2 hours for me to use the facilities with a late checkout and were extremely kind and helpful, they made my birthday a day to remember. A lovely room to stay with comfortable beds and a very clean bathroom. They had left a beautiful card with chocolates all complimentary in the room. The restaurant staff were amazing too as I ordered boiled eggs just as the breakfast timing was about to end and asked if was not too much trouble but they were so lovely and bought out hard boiled and soft so that I could choose. Such a beautiful place with excellent staff that make your stay extra special. I will definitely be returning again and look forward to using the great facilities of the hotel again soon

Absolutely amazing, I've come home totally relaxed and feel like a brand new person! Activities are fun, we did air rifling for one hour - fair prices for what you get to do and for how long. The spa was brilliant! Staff are very welcoming and friendly - i had a massage and facial treatment that lasted an hour, sat in the different saunas and then went for a long dip in the pool before heading up to the restaurant for some of the best food I've ever had! Will definitely be returning 5*

Me and my friend visited the spa 25th April and I can say it was the best spa day we’ve ever been on. I was worried £95 wasn’t going to be worth just using the spa but it 100% was worth it. We didn’t want to leave. There were no faults what so ever and we will definitely be returning :) All the staff were lovely The afternoon was amazing There was a gorgeous smell when we arrived in the reception, I would love to know what it was.

We had a business conference at this wonderful venue and what a terrific setting. Alongside the superb rooms, food and staff we took advantage of some of the activities as well. These were superb team builders delivered by experts and in a fun way. It was also not as expensive as you think looking at the venue so we'll worth an enquiry.

Me and my partner have just got home from a two night stay here and we can honestly say it was absolutely fantastic from start to finish, the spa was amazing definitely worth the money and was a nice relaxing afternoon we both needed. We also did the vertigo which was a great experience. The whole stay was overall excellent would definitely recommend to anyone and we will be looking to book back very soon!

Fantastic stay with two very good golf courses, good spa and dining facilities, but best of all GENUINELY NICE AND COMPETENT STAFF. People at clubhouse nice and chatty, but got myself in a tough position needing some printing from a mac-based application and the girls at reception (Carys and Dani - apologies if spelling bad!) got everything sorted and then delivered to me during dinner. Honestly can’t remember service like it (would have been a hassle for them to sort and easy to just say no). 10/10 guys would recommend for all types of trips (I was a golf trip and best facilities we’ve been too)

For a £460 one night stay in what we thought was a highly recommended and well reviewed establishment myself and my partner were not best pleased. The room was very very basic, smelt of strong bleach and was very hot and stuffy. The food was good and we were pleasantly surprised with the service aswel. The spa was a complete waste of money. Playing what we would class as beach club music and people drinking quite a lot at 10.30 am on a Tuesday was not the relaxation we had hoped for. I think there is better options around the area and a lot better for your bank accounts. Do not recommend for a relaxed stay at all

  • 5/5 Nikky R. 1 year ago on Google
What a wonderful place to stay, will definitely be back. Really loved the atmosphere. I think the room was too warm, windows didn't open very wide to cool it down, so we didn't get a great night's sleep with the big blanket. But that's mostly a personal preference, so all in all 5 stars. My partner loved the golf course, it really was very peaceful and beautiful.

Perfect in every respect. The food and facilities are outstanding. Clean, welcoming, friendly, just spot on in every way. More than anything, I want to say a huge ‘thank you’ to the staff. They were very helpful and patient with us - nothing was too much trouble. In particular, Sue at the Spa. When I was having a massage she took great care of my friend. She went well above and beyond her duties to help my friend get ready for the pool. I actually cried when I found out what she did for her. Such a lovely lady, and a real asset to the team. I just can’t thank you all enough for everything that you did for us this weekend.

We recently went to a wedding at Carden Park. It was really nice. The venue is extremely classy. It has a long winding drive way that really does make you feel like you are leaving behind the real world and entering a fantasy. The wedding ceremony was outside with stunning views under a very private wedding stand. The guests were all made up and after the service the natural confetti flew. Horderves were elegant and were much appreciated. The meal was in a stand alone room with its own facilities and bar. We all had a great day. What the servers lacked in experience they made up for in customer services. Would definitely recommend for weddings I have just found out that they put a 10% service charge on EVERY drink at the bar. It had a tiny little sign. Very sneaky

So disappointed. We booked treatments at the beautiful spa and were told we could not use the facilities. I had been given a voucher to spend so I could experience the amazing spa. So by booking a treatment, I thought I would have a lovey experience. It is not explained on the website that you have to pay extra on top of the cost of a treatment to enjoy the spa. I was not told when I phoned to book the treatment either. We asked if we could pay to use the spa and were told we couldn't, despite it being extremely quiet. The hotel, brasserie and staff were all lovely and our stay was very enjoyable.
