Before I sing the praises of Albert Kraus, let me tell you where NOT to do business with because they take advantage of inexperienced people like myself who aren't familiar with selling Gold & Silver. PG$ Gold & Coin and Jewelry & Coin Mart which are both located in Schaumburg, IL. Both of these places really "Low Balled me" and gave me very poor prices on the Gold I was selling while they were telling me how fair of a price they were giving me. Both places were dishonest and PG$ Gold & Silver actually dishonestly "didn't refresh the computer screen" and cheated me additionally on the "spot price" of Gold by $11 per ounce. I realized this after I got home and looked at a graph that showed how she cheated me! I would totally avoid these two places like the plaque if I was you. Now to review Gold & Jewelry Direct and owner Albert Kraus. If only I would have found him before I did business with the above-mentioned scammers! It was a 30 minute drive from Schaumburg to Algonquin to Albert Kraus's Store. Believe me, it is well worth the drive wherever you are coming from! Albert is so personable, honest, knowledgeable, professional and experienced in Gold, Silver & jewelry. I instantly developed trust in him seeing him to be of good character and sincerity. Which is great, but of course the prices he was offering for my Gold, Silver and Jewelry was really important to me too. Had the 14 K yellow gold setting on a 7.5 CWT ruby replaced. I Couldn't be happier! The ruby in its new setting is stunningly awesome. The quoted price was extremely reasonable. Albert mentioned to me that they bought scrap gold so I took a few rings without stones in expecting to receive very little....what a shocker. He gave me enough for my scrap that I ended up paying only 37% of the quoted price for the replacement setting. All I was looking for was a simple, sturdy setting but I got that and a great deal to boot!

I decided to take a longer drive to Algonquin than to much closer places after calling and hearing that I could get much closer to the silver spot price here than other places. Ended up getting $.39 more per ounce (I was selling some bullion) than anywhere else. I would most definitely return.

If you are looking for jewelry repair, buying or selling jewelry or coins...this is the place to go. Albert is very honest, pleasant and patient. I love my jewelry and like most people wear it until it needs repair, then it sits in the jewelry box not being used. I had a few pieces that needed work... rings and a bracelet. I also had a diamond and tanzanite I wanted mounted for pendants, they custom made the diamond pendant and I'm delighted with the tanzanite pendant as well. The rings needed new stones and they were reworked and now are beautiful. All of the work I have had done has been repaired or re-worked within a week and Albert has very reasonable prices. I also purchased a beautiful locket pendant from his large selection of jewelry, now the task is to find some earrings to go with it! Needless to say, I will definitely be back!
