I am a Korean American expat & have tried a number of Korean restaurants in the area. This has been the best one I've found so far - the closest to tasting my mom's cooking! It's not your hip, fusion Asian restaurant (there are plentyyyy of those out there) but rather an authentic & delicious Korean experience. I brought a couple of friends who had never tried Korean food before & was so relieved that all the dishes came out very tasty. I'm generally not a big fan of bibimpap but this one was actually the best I've ever tasted (including California & Seoul). Thank you for bringing me a taste of home.

Food was delicious. Served in beautiful plates. Felt like a real Korean experience. Service was outstanding, made sure everything is no less than great. Highly recommend it, might want to book a table in advance.

The food was really delicious and portions enough to share! There is a wide variety of korean dishes to suit your mood. The decor is also very beautiful and makes you feel like your sitting at your mums table. We were served a refreshing jug of ice cold rooibos tea to keep us cool before our meals arrived and after supper, some fruit and sweet iced coffee...along with a spread of side dishes (with the meal) to add variety to your dish. ALL FREE!! Talk about generosity... You wont leave here feeling unsatisfied! The atmosphere was also very relaxed and we spent hours just chatting and eating... True Korean hospitality. The service was also prompt and very professional.

Really enjoyed the food here, so delicious! I hope they open a bigger branch so you can get the real garden vibe. But I'm definitely going back to try out more stuff on the menu.

Korean Garden Restaurant has the best yangneom chicken in Johannesburg, hands down. The portion is large and definitely meant to be shared. Trust me, you will not find better korean fried chicken anywhere else! I highly recommend enjoying it with a glass of soju or makkeoli. If you are a fan of miso soup, they offer it as a side with many dishes and it is absolutely lovely every time! The staff are super friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is cozy both outside and inside, plus they have extra heaters to put by your table on request if you need. This is definitely my favourite korean restaurant for sure!

There's not many Korean restaurants in Johannesburg that have an authentic Korean flavour and taste. For this one, it is okay. I do eat at Asian restaurants a lot, including Thai, Indian, Vietnamese etc and the only negative comment I can give for this place is that the food needed more salt. In my opinion, Korean food is all about its natural taste. They use anchovy broth to make a lot of their soups, the gochujang and gochugaru to make their sauces and it gives its flavours but when there's lack of salt, it doesn't have the right taste. The restaurant is small with 6 or 7 tables inside and a few on the outside. They close at 3pm so I would recommend you go earlier if you are eating there for lunch. The restaurant is clean and well table layout. The service from the servers is very attentive. As for the price, I have noticed that all Korean restaurants' prices are on the high side from R180 onwards. The upsides are that you get mini appetizers to go with it, every dish has a lot of ingredients in it and all soups come with a bowl of rice. Plus, the portion size is quite filling for one person. You can definitely order a few dishes to share and try.

It's a small restaurant and the tables are cramped, but the food is nice, just the price is slightly over.

In a small "hidden " plaza, ple ty parking ut terrible parkers, not very traditional as it says, very little small intro plates, over priced, the prawn kimbap was good, the seafood pancake was good but with minimal seafood it was mainly just onions and veggies. The soup dishes were very disappointing, flavourless or odd flavoured. Service was so so so. We sat ourdoors, so the vibes was great for a. Evening dinner.

Had a takeaway and when I got home, I was disappointed...side dishes are what makes my meal, it was extremely upsetting for the price. The place is quite pricey but I understand based on where the place is based. Maybe sit down is better. Sad that I still have porkbelly in the fridge and no sides with it. most places I have gone to they make the meat proportionate to the sides. Staff not very warm. Owner didn't acknowledge me. Its clean, I did not want to wait outside because it was too rigid. Won't go again.

Wonderful hidden gem in the recently renovated Merrow Down Plaza in Magaliessig .Small friendly family style restaurant with delicious freshly prepared Korean food served by the very knowledgeable Isobel and the owners. Superb, well priced menu with a decent wine list as well although we brought our own with corkage at R 80 per bottle. Would suggest booking, especially in winter, as there are a limited number of tables inside.

We stopped off for KFC - Korean Fried Chicken, it was a craving that needed satisfying. We went for the mixed option - that's half plain KFC, half ban ban. Ban ban is a sweet, sticky, gochujang spicy sauce over the KFC. Both were good but I have had korean fried chicken before that was double fried and thus had a bigger crunch to it - this was not that. The chicken was fresh and hot. We also had done kimchi, and Korean baby marrow mix. Both sides were tasty and moreish. I do find this restaurant quite pricey, if I'm honest but I had a good time there.

2nd visit here with friends. Great experience of Korean food. The Korean fried chicken was delicious. Other dishes were good too. The restaurant was very busy that day so service was a little slow but completely understandable. Not a wide variety of vegetarian/vegan dishes were available that day.

Food was good and tasty, however very pricey for what you get. Service was average, had to look for someone to bring more drinks.

Soooooo damn good. So tasty so chilled, not really about the ambience, it's very basic in that sense. But just an incredible menu! Yum yum
