👍👍 Miracle workers! Dr Goodhead and his team are absolutely amazing. You won't find better care for your pets. Our Ava had a cataract surgery on one eye and the other eye removed. Through both surgeries and consultations all the staff were so warm and welcoming. Friendly reception, and such compassion... People often mention Goodhead, surgery,

I have taken a few years to write this post- towards the end of May 2017 we took our beloved Dexter(Rottweiler) for an op to fix an eye lid that was causing an ulcer on the eye. When we arrived earlier than advised to pick him up ,there were dogs lying in passages ,not being handled with any great care I must say, op room open and not sterile and and and......when Dex was able to leave we departed....he was coughing and wheezing all the time...we took him to our vet as we thought maybe something had got caught in his throat- our vet sedated Dex and looked into his mouth and throat and there was nothing there.....other than a very inflamed throat-our vet did not say directly but insinuated that the throat had been "hurt" during his operation. Unfortunately Dexter passed away at our vet, the day after his operation. When I called the Bryanston eye hospital and spoke to the vet there he immediately started to vehemently deny any wrong doing....a bit too strongly I must add....be cautious with your animals at this veterinary practice, they DO NOT treat them with the same care you do or would want them to . I am still traumatised by my beloved pets demise- for something he should NEVER have died from, an eye operation

Our little Sasha went blind in a very short time and I was on the mission to give him back the love and loyalty he is shown to us by having the cataract surgery done to improve his eyesight. The premise is easily to find via Google map. Huge parking and a friendly outside waiting area welcomes you. Had to fill in the covid compliance forms and after that, Bianca, the all-round receptionist, admin, appointment booking and answering patiently emails, telephone calls and people's questions in the reception area will guide you through the first steps. Paul, one of the vets, examined Sasha and explained in detail everything (got a free lesson in biology- eyes). He took time to answer all questions and concerns and even offered to take a call from my daughter in Germany to answer her questions too. Sadly, Sasha is a high risk candidate and we opted against the procedure which would him more traumatize than doing good. He is now on medication and close supervision with the deterioration of his eyes. But we will do everything to make his little life as happy as possible. Made my house Sasha Sasha proof and wrapped with bubble wrap all sharp corners and so on. The clinic is super clean, friendly and offers ample secure parking. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Everything is very spacious and open, ideal for blind dogs. While you wait there is coffee/ cappuccino/ tea available. The vets were extremely gentle and put a great deal in explaining the situation and I think it's done with each little ir big patient. The outside waiting area is spacious too and has a lapa available to sit in shade and protected off the sun. The premise has camera surveillance which is kind of normal for sunny wild Africa. Out of 10 stars I would give 10 🦮🐾🐱 there is also some cool fashion available for blind dogs which is alerting other people that your dog is blind.

Dr. Goodhead and team took wonderful care of our Chiky, who came all the way from Zambia for surgery. They could not have been more kind, empathetic, and patient with us and with Chiky. Thank you!!!

Very professional, friendly. Nice that they don't charge a fee for a follow up when it's soon after the first visit. More expensive than your normal vet, but it's a specialist hospital, so similar to visiting specialist vs GP for humans. Update: Dr Goodhead and the team really are excellent. Took my cat 3 months, but they got her there. Her graft is now healed and I'm so glad I opted for it rather than removing the eye.

Top-notch. Dr Goodhead and his team are brilliant. My Labrador would have lost her sight permanently if it were not for this hospital. And my cocker- spaniels's eye issues have been sorted also.

Great doctor's there helping the animals. Our dog hurt her eye and we were advised to see an eye specialist ASAP. The only specialist available were the guys at Johannesburg Animal Eye Hospital. They were fully booked but made a plan to squeeze us in due to it being an emergency and a chance to save our doggies eye. Thank you to all that helped us.

First and foremost the reception was super welcoming. I went there without any apointment due to an emergency my puppy had an ulcers both eyes, within a short space of time the doctor started to attend us, with no wasting time I got my dogs medicine with full explanation. I salute that hospital as if all the government hospitals can do the same and saves lives. High five.

Astro our yorkie developed cataracts due to his diabetic condition. He is seven years old and went totally blind in a matter of days. We took him to the Animal Eye Clinic and had an assessent done. Dr Goodhead was very knowlegeable, experienced and defintely a dedicated and committed doctor. He is an Ophthamologist and a special one indeed. He has the best equipment and machinary to carry out the required tests. Astro was able to have the surgery. A document detailing the procedure, risks and pricing were sent to us for understanding. Dr Goodhead and staff were very patient, caring and kind at all times during and after the surgery. They answered any questions and fears we might have had. The surgery was successful and Astro can now see again, my happy, lively, full of energy yorkie is back! He runs after the birds and hadidas in the garden again, loves to fight with the flies and insects in the garden. He plays catch again and loves to run up and down the stairs. This is MY miracle of 2022 - to give my little yorkie his eye sight back is worth every cent I spent. A BIG thank you to Dr Goodhead and the Team, without you Astro would not be able to see the beautiful world again! He loves the beach and runs up and down the shore enjoying the waves and smelling the sea air but most of all enjoys the walks on the promenade and growling at the huge dogs again! He is back in action! Thank you again and again. The Betci Family and Astro

So disappointing 😞. Did terrible stitches. Collar to short. No pain meds. Come on. It's 2022. Had to take my baby to 4ways Hospital. Did a better job at a fraction of the price. 4ways Hospital had to do the op again. Great results and pain meds.

Thanks to Dr Anthony Goodhead and Staff at the Johannesburg Animal Eye hospital our little Bubbles has a new lease on life. Despite the loss of one eye, she is like a puppy again. The care she received was above and beyond and we cannot begin to express our gratitude.
