Borim is a small village at Ponda in Goa that is situated at about 34 kms. from Panaji and 12 kms. from Margao. It is famous for the Shri Navdurga Sausthan temple which is among the famous religious places in Goa. The temple houses an incarnation of Goddess Parvati, the consort of Shiva known as Goddess Navdurga. It is known that a group of Brahmins had earlier brought the Goddess Navdurga deity from a place known as Karad in Maharashtra to Benaulim in the South Goa district in the Salcete taluka. Subsequently it was moved to its present site at Borim

One of the most beautiful temples in Goa. Very peaceful and well maintained temple complex with a big open hall infront of the temple. Shree Kameshwar (shiva) temple at the other end of the temple. One must visit this before doing Pradakshina. While doing pradakshina, you can see shree ganesh mandir, shree datta mandir, shree hanuman and navagraha mandir. The area is well developed with different flowering and decorative plants. The saunnsthan also has a hall in which weddings and other ceremonies take place.

I went to this temple yesterday as I wanted to take blessings and gift a saree to devi Maa. The shop in the temple premises was selling saree. I picked one and there was rice in between the packed saree. He told me people who gift saree to goddess are kept for sale. This means that a business is going on and they are earning multiple times on the Same saree. We keep the saree at goddess feet so that they are given to the needy not for selling. The pandit sitting inside is a greedy man. He did not offer any prasad till I did not put money. Than he served me two drops of water. Outrageous ways of running temple. The used saree are put as prasad to devi Maa. The ladies should make them touch the saree on goddess feet and give it to needy.

Such a peaceful location. Energy levels are very good.

On navami they arrange lunger and aslo a special event of navdura mata. Everyone has to visit at navmi event. Best devotional place in borim. It is aslo safe at night.
