Beautiful public beach at the wild and rough south coast of Mauritius. On cloudy days it looks like a Nordic waterfront. Strong contrast to the palm, white sand beaches in the west or north east. The beach is beautiful but not for swimming.

Cool place for making photos, if you're lucky enough to find a weather with no wind.

Beautiful on the blue ocean with the black rocks. Nice to have a walk on the beach and look at all the shelves. You can also walk on the ridge. Be careful you CANNOT swim here, it is to dangerous!

It is possible to enter the water and stand there, even get fully submersed. But swimming in it is dangerous because of the string stream and tide. On the right side of the coast there is more rocks and more dangerous but on the far end of the beach it's more fine. Do not swim it it, especially with children. Very picturesque and lovely place. Food facilities are nearby. There is parking place available . It's free access no tickets needed

Beautiful scenery and peaceful place. The sound of the waves crashing against the rocks on the shore is soothingly satisfying to listen to. Would definitely recommend checking the place out when road tripping around the south coast of the island. This place shouldn't be skipped!

The beach is beautiful. White sand and picturesque. However, it is very windy here and the waves a high. Not a family beach or one for swimming. We came to see the waterfall/rock that cries. Honestly not worth the time. So many beautiful beaches this was not to be returned to.

One of the most beautiful places on the island. Unfortunately, we got there in the rain, but this did not spoil the general mood and the picture. The coasts are not protected from the ocean by a coral reef. Waves run with all their might on the coast, creating unusual, very beautiful coastal landscapes. You can walk along the coast, watching the sea, the surf and the extraordinary flora of the coast.

Gris Gris is the beach which is located in the extreme south of the island. This little piece of beach does not have coral reef, the big waves come breaking on the shore offering an amazing views to the visitors... 😍an amazing place to appreciate the sound of the waves which is a good therapy 🌊 BUT! Do not be fooled by this beautiful golden beach and deep blue sea, Gris Gris is an extremely dangerous beach! ⚠️ just be very careful and take precautions when going there 🙏🏻 however you will really enjoy it 😉

It feels like you are not in Mauritius anymore :) Crashing waves and steep cliffs. It is remarkable to site and watch. This is the most Southern point of Mauritius and for interest it lines up with Bulawayo in Zimbabwe. There are snack shops nearby and a public toilet.

Great place for a family picnic. Stunning views, great breeze, amazing tides and best of all the secret cave which let's you take breathtaking pictures that are Instagram worthy. I would advise to visit the place when the sun is not up as it tends to get really hot. Otherwise it has adequate parking places as well.

Calm and breathtaking. Good for swimming and sunbathing. There's also la roche qui pleure nearby which is a very good place for trekking where there are around 3 waterfalls and view of the sea from above.

The appeal of Gris Gris lies in it scenery, the high cliffs here drop abruptly to the sea and the refreshing winds of the Indian Ocean blow all year round. At the southern end of Gris-Gris, you will have a great viewpoint on the cliffs and will see the crashing of waves against the flanks. Must visited!

The most amazing place to see and experience. It is a soul finding place like people like to say. Very dangerous as there are no barriers to protect you from falling off the cliffs so proceed with caution when trying to look over the edge at the crashing waves. I would not let children out of sight. One wrong move and they could fall. If you stay on the beach side you are fine and it is safe. Would visit EVERY TIME. 10 outta 10.

I absolutely loved seeing the waves crash violently against the rocks. Makes you realize how nature will always supercede humans. There is an incredible beauty about that place.

Beautiful, wild nature. You can walk down this beautiful beach but beware of the tides, it can rapidly cover up the beach and all that is filled with dangerously wild waters!

Not for swimming but definitely must see place, views are amazing. Be ware of trashes hidden on the beach sands, I’ve collected many glass pieces and plastic waste on the beach. Walk with shoes.

Beautiful. I wouldn't swim here but I had fun climbing around on rocks and drinking beers on them. I'm Canadian wetsuweten so if you see empty cans it wasn't me. I saw a crab and some boats. Needs a washroom but it's not a place to stay around all day so idk why they would get one. I just wanted some pictures.

  • 5/5 Sahana S. 2 years ago on Google
Worth visiting! Nice view, amazing breeze at a height. You can hike down to the beach from the parking lot or hike to the other side on the top through a trail, or just sit on a bench and watch the water or even have a picnic. Nice place to hang out with friends or family or even alone. Do carry a jacket if it's a windy day, we were positively cold by around 4 pm!

Gris Gris Beach offers a truly spectacular experience that left me in awe. The view from the hilltop, overlooking the crashing waves against the rugged rocks, was simply breathtaking. Witnessing the power of nature in action was a mesmerizing sight. The hidden cave added an element of mystery and intrigue to the landscape. It felt like discovering a secret treasure within this already captivating setting. Descending to the sandy beach, I found myself in a piece of heaven. The combination of the stunning view and the inviting sandy shores created a perfect harmony that was both soothing and exhilarating. Gris Gris Beach is a must-visit destination for anyone seeking a slice of paradise with a touch of adventure. The beauty of the surroundings and the captivating waves crashing against the rocks make it an unforgettable experience.

The middle of the Gris Gris lagoon a rock which resembles a Madonna leaning towards her son. Furthermore, so many natural wonders to discover in Gris Gris and Souillac! Gris Gris which has the distinction of having its coral reef very close to shore. Suddenly, huge waves break just a few meters from the beach and wash the grainy sand mixed with tiny colored shells.

Breathtaking views right at the edge of the island. Be careful to bring some repellent spray with you as this coast forest on the top of the beach is full of mosquitos.

It is super place to break a pose. It is not very good for swim but superb if you want to throw your body. It is found after the beautiful village or Souillac which is top place but very hot there. Souillac is okay but still ranked after the village of Rose-Belle. Have you ever been to Rose Belle?
