Dhabaleswar Temple is a famous Hindu pilgrimage site located in the state of Odisha in eastern India. The temple is situated on an island in the Mahanadi river, near the city of Cuttack. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is considered to be one of the most important Shaivite shrines in the region. The name Dhabaleswar is derived from the Sanskrit word "Dhabala" which means white, and "Eswar" which means Shiva. The temple is believed to have been built in the 10th or 11th century, during the reign of the Somavamsi dynasty. HISTORY:- According to the mythological legend, it is said that once a thief stole a black calf and hid in a temple that was dedicated to Lord Shiva. Since the thief was hiding inside a temple, the local crowd couldn't dare to enter the temple and bring the thief outside and continued to wait for him outside. After long and continuous prayers by the thief, Lord Shiva took a form of a sage and saved the thief. When the crowd thought there was a black calf inside the temple, the sage went inside and brought back a white calf with him. When the thief realized that Lord Shiva himself came to the island to save him and disappeared after turning the black calf into a white one, he confessed to the locals about his crime and dedicated his life to worship Lord Shiva. Therefore, the temple is known as Dhabaleswar Temple and Lord Shiva is also known as Dhabaleswara.

The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is considered one of the holiest places in the state. The temple's architecture is awe-inspiring and its serene atmosphere is perfect for meditation and introspection. It's easy to feel a sense of peace and tranquility here, surrounded by lush greenery and the gentle sound of the river. The temple is well-maintained and the staff are helpful and courteous. Visitors are greeted with a warm welcome and can take part in various rituals and ceremonies. The temple's main attraction is the beautiful Shiva Lingam, which is believed to have been installed by Lord Rama himself.

1.The temple is famous mainly amongst people of Khurda and Cuttack districts . 2. Legend is that Lord Shiva helped a thief from the public anger by turning a Black Bull that was stolen into a White bull. 3. People coming from Cuttack and Bbsr side can reach this place by newly constructed Madhusudan Das bridge over Mahanadi and a new pedestrian bridge to reach the island on which temple is located .The new pedestrian bridge is filled with paan gutkha spits . The old hanging pedestrian bridge is closed for public usage but many people of temple staff use it . 4. Generally the priests are allocated to you by the place you are coming from.Priests can help you perform Puja in case the person needs it . some precious idols are just thrown outside the main sanctum as if nobody cares. 5.The government has done half hearted work in improving the temple infra and beautification.( You can see the cables of street lighting taken over the footpath) 6. The ghat is also not maintained and dirty. People perform mundan here by paying Rs200 to barbers . 7.The temple premises are also very dirty and no cleanliness at all. 8. One can book Anna prasad by contacting with their known priests or purchase mahaprasad at temple premises . ( Rs100 per meal) 9.Shoe stand system is run by locals , no proper arrangements are there. 10.A good hotel is there on the island for stay and food 11. Had this temple been outside Odisha, it would have been a big tourist spot and very clean but unfortunately Dhabaleshwar is in Odisha it will remain dirty with pan and gutkha .Hope some sense prevails in temple staff and visiting people .

Jay Baba Dhabaleswar. It is situated on an island near Mahanadi Rever. There was a hanging bridge but it is not safe to use now. A new bridge is inaugurated now, you walk through it and reach the temple safely.

It was a great place flourishing with nature. As vehicles are parked a little away from the temple so you need to prepare for a walk across the bridge and climb some few stairs in order to reach the temple. The place is truly filled with grear spirituality. You can find people doing anushthan and rudra abhishek all the time. The crowd, energy and the positivity flowing through the atmosphere will surely lit your devotion. Doing a parikrama around the temple should be a must. Food and prasad sevan was also nice indeed not something exceptional good or brilliant but it was not that bad. However its better to avoid drinks, ice creams and other snacks from the stores and shop along the stairs as the products selled by them is typically duplicate and the taste is really disgusting.

Situated in a small island in Mahanadi river To reach here you have to bring your personal vehicle which goes only to the parking area. From there you have to go by a bridge which is under construction. For reaching here with public transport catch no 81 bus from jobra stop It will return till 7 pm from there. Go in early morning and spend time in day only The island is very large and the prestine environment is there.

Om Namo Shibay, Dhabaleshwar Temple is one of the major Shiva temples in Odisha. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, the Hindu god of destruction. It is situated on an island in the Mahanadi River at a distance of 15 km from Cuttuck railway station. There is a swing pole here, but it is now closed to people due to its weakness, and a concrete pole has been built near it. The natural scenery here is very beautiful. It is very crowded during Badaosha and the months of Sraban. There are also hotel arrangements for an overnight stay on this island. A Shiva devotee should go there once in a lifetime.

Great experience. Stay away from the beggers as they keep on following uh. Donot harm the monkeys who come for food. Hide your own belongings or food inside bag. You can also feed the monkeys but with all precautions.

Dhabaleswar Temple is a very famous Shiv temple in Odisha. Dhabaleswar temple is widely known for its past story of an amazing miracle. This place is very crowded in the odia month of Kartik Month. This temple is basically situated on an island on the Mahanadi River. You can find a hanging bridge there which connects both sides of the river and the temple side. But after a recent bridge tragedy on a hanging bridge in Gujrat this bridge is totally prohibited for people. After the Gujrat tragedy the MLA of this area Mr. Ranendra Pratap Swain built another norman bridge over the river. The people visited here in kartik month is almost 50k or over 50k per day. So if you want to avoid the crowd and to save your time you can visit here between 4 AM to 5 AM in the morning. You can get peace and mental strength after visiting this place because this place is very very devotional. May this information help you a little. A must visit place from my side. Jay Baba Dhabaleswar... Har Har Mahadev... 😍🥰
