It is difficult for me to put into words how much Back in Motion Physical Therapy & Performance in Fort Myers, FL has helped me. As a triathlete, active, and very busy business woman, my life as I knew it was halted when I crashed on my bike going 22 mph and fractured my pelvic bone. As I recovered using other treatments, I was left with the inability to get back to full function as I once knew it. I was getting really depressed and feeling that I was destined to be this now less active person. However that all changed when I started seeing Dr. Scott Gray at Back in Motion. His assessment was comprehensive, but also kind, caring, and individualized. My case has taken a while to get me back to where I want to be because of the severity of the injury, however, Dr. Gray never gave up on me. He has used many different modalities in his physical therapy bag including dry needing, manual medicine, targeted exercises, active release, blood flow restriction training (yikes!) and a number of other individualized modalities. Dr. Gray listens intently and tries to determine the underlying cause of the symptoms, not just do the same thing for everyone. He provided me with exercises to perform at home, as well as encouraged me to start personal training with his Certified fitness trainers, which I did. The combination of the physical therapy with the personal training has allowed me to just recently complete a half marathon (13.1 miles!), be back on my bike, and be able to lift some seriously heavy weights! LOL. I have more energy, feel better about myself, and am again enjoying an active life due to the treatments, encouragement, and personalized attention provided at Back in Motion. I personally believe everyone needs to receive an assessment and plan from the physical therapy team at Back in Motion. One of their mottos is "Motion is Lotion" and that is so true. I cannot recommend them more highly. I will be forever grateful!

I'm a snowbird that was having back and shoulder problems. I tried everything from cortisone injection, Tylenol, and was even considering g surgery. I finally took a different approach by coming to back in motion and I am now "back in motion." They not only offer a next level physical therapy treatment that is WAY different than your traditional PT. You see the same Doctor everything and everything is customized! They also offer personal training in their Fort Myers facility. Since being discharged from treatment I now use this service to keep me healthy and strong and to help me enjoy my Florida lifestyle.

Great place to come for all types of Physical Therapy. I have received great care and attention. Dan has been guiding me through my rehabilitation from 2 hip replacement surgeries within 3 months. He pushes my limits while still being cognizant of my present limitations. I have no doubt that I will achieve my goals. The office staff is caring and efficient. Give them a try, you won’t be disappointed.

Dr. Scott and his team have treated my family and I for years. They are experts in their field and have helped me tremendously with my hip, neck and back pain. I've tried physical therapy in the past and have not seen results anywhere close to the progress I've been able to make with Dr. Scott. My chronic conditions are becoming manageable through identifying and focusing on strengthening the right muscles and working to release the right muscles. Their approach is comprehensive and holistic. I would highly recommend you try the practice if you have any PT needs. My life is absolutely change. Thank you Dr. Scott and Back in Motion!

Back-in-Motion was an excellent experience for me. My coach there focused his attention 100% on me and my needs, problems, and concerns during my sessions. And helped me modify my movements to be exactly what was needed and helpful. In addition, he created and identified items I should ideally include daily at home, with my yoga mat or whatever else was appropriate and needed. I have built those elements into my daily activities after breakfast, and therefore virtually never excluded. The full package has clearly put me in a better condition than many men of my age, I’m 81 in June, and that has been recognized frequently. Much thanks and appreciation to Back-in-Motion!

I’ve been to a few therapists and Back In Motion is the best in Southwest Florida. They all work extremely hard to ensure that they exceed patients expectations. Professionalism is present throughout Back in Motion and without them none of my back and hip issues wouldn’t have been resolved. Thank you for providing a truly amazing service.

I would highly recommend Back in Motion if you are experiencing chronic lower back pain like I had. I had been having on again, off again severe lower back pain since 2017. I have tried chiropractors, acupuncture, physical therapy at another location, expensive custom arch supports, and different mattresses. A lot of money spent with no results. I re-aggravated my back on Christmas Day 2022. This was just three months before a two week hiking trip to the Himalayas in Nepal. I had to do something, so I made an appointment with Back in Motion. For my consultation appointment, I met with Dr. Megan. I was completely wowed! She correctly determined that my lower back pain was being caused not just by my scoliosis, but that my pelvis was a bit crooked as well. She prescribed an exercise routine that not only strengthened the affected areas, but also restored a great deal of mobility in my lower back and pelvic area that I had lost. I was able to go on my Himalaya hike without experiencing any pain or discomfort. Back in Motion does live up to their motto of fix the cause and not just the symptoms. Trevor G

Came here for physio in conjunction with treatment at the Caring Medical clinic for cervical instability and loss of neck curve. First of all, this place is a wonderfully welcoming and friendly clinic, and I also think quite reasonably priced in the context of private medical treatment. I was treated by Dr James Porco, who is as warm and easy to get along with as the receptionists, and he gave me a series of exercises to do at home and explained how they would help my problems. I was diligent and really made sure to do the exercises often, three times a day most days, and within a few weeks I felt so much better. It was like my upper body was finally able to move freely after being stuck for so long. I would highly recommend this place if you are a patient of Dr Hauser's or have any form of neck issue, and I'm sure it's similarly good for other issues as well.

I am so pleased with the care/service I received at Back in Motion. Every member of the staff is friendly, professional, and efficient. Working as a team, they truly provide excellent patient-focused care. I worked with Dr. Anthony Simone before and after my knee-replacement surgery. He is a unique combination of competence and caring. Not only was Dr. Anthony very knowledgeable, he was great at communicating, motivating and developing a challenging but doable plan for my recovery. I am back to walking my dog, climbing stairs, playing golf and riding my bike - all with no pain! I have already recommended Back In Motion to several of my friends and all have been pleased. Thank you so much!!

I couldn’t be happier with the personal training that I receive from Katy! She’s so easy to work with, provides workouts that fit my needs and pushes me in a gentle and positive way. I’ve never trusted another trainer as much as I do Katy! I’ve been going to her for over a year and I can see and feel the results! I will continue as long as I’m able! It’s also nice having physical therapists on site, and the staff are always friendly and helpful! 😃 I highly recommend!!!

Dr. Vanessa is such great doctor. I went to her for some physical therapy but I felt that I left with such great knowledge about my health in general. She was so easy to talk to and made me feel comfortable with every encounter. She even gave me great restaurants to go to for my birthday! I recommend going to Dr. Vanessa! Thank you for all you do.

It has been overdue for me to write a review...I suffered from frozen shoulders on both sides for almost a year. I tried physiotherapy, massage, chiropractic treatment for a while, but I still suffered from frozen shoulders. As I was getting desperate more and more, I almost chose a surgery. I continued to search for solutions while a word "surgery" kept at back of my head, then I found Back In Motion in Fort Myers as I saw this clinic handles frozen shoulders. I went there and met Dr. James who ultimately fixed my frozen shoulders over 3 months! I also worked hard by following Dr. James' instructions I needed to do at home between the therapy sessions. Now, I can do pretty much everything as same as before I got frozen shoulders. I definitely recommend Dr. James for fixing your frozen shoulders. Thank you James!

Back in motion changed my life. When I started, I was without much hope, because I already saw so many doctors. But this time is was very different. Dr Gray took the time to listen to my issues and concerns and started working with me, seeing the whole person not just a part. Having a full array of different kinds of treatments and approaches. Always finding the one that is best at that moment. What is so amazing is that you get a whole hour of personal 1 on 1 therapy, which is so valuable, most doctors you get to see maybe 5 minutes if you are lucky, everybody seems too busy. Not at back in motion. They value you as a person and help you however they can to improve your quality of life. I still have a ways to go but I am a 100% confident that I will succeed with their help.

I started personal training with Back in Motion Physical Therapy & Performance in Fort Myers, FL back in February 2022. Everyone has been so kind, professional and attentive. Their assessments are based on my personal goals, but also form and preventing injury. I hadn’t been as active in the past 15 years, and I was concerned that with my family history that I would be on medications in the foreseeable future. I was experiencing pain in a lot of my joints, and I just wasn’t happy with how my body was feeling. I set a goal to run my first race, and it was going to be a half marathon. (I've never been a runner, but I was persuaded by a friend to make this my goal.) Anyway, throughout my training, I experienced an injury to my foot. I then saw Dr. Dan, a Physical Therapist at Back in Motion, and he helped me recover, so I could get back on track with my training for the race. I’m now down 30 pounds and I completed my first half marathon this past Saturday. It has been a journey, and I’m so grateful for the team at Back in Motion Physical Therapy & Performance in Fort Myers, FL, for teaming up with me, and for all their encouragement and support. I’m excited to set a new goal for the upcoming year and see how the team at Back in Motion can help me. Thanks Dr. Gray, Ashley, Dr. Dan & Katie for all that you do!

The office staff at Back in Motion was always very friendly and helpful. Dr. James Porco was my back therapist, along with various assistants. The help I received was stellar and I am forever grateful that I was in such capable hands. I never realized how many bad habits I had in terms of moving and lifting before going to Back in Motion. I like how Dr. James doesn't think merely in terms of reducing back pain but rather, getting you back to a high level of fitness. My fears of being relegated to a life of constant pain and diminished activities has subsided and I have hope of achieving various fitness goals. I hope to be able to make the time to continue personal training to reinforce proper exercise form. Getting the form right; doing the exercises properly will strengthen the core safely and efficiently. I highly recommend Back in Motion without hesitation.

Dr. Vanessa is the best! I saw her for pelvic floor therapy for the issues I was dealing with which has improved. She's also helped me in other areas as well that targeted the pain and discomfort I was dealing with in my neck and lower back. I was given various useful exercises and tips that greatly improved my health! Dr. Vanessa is easy to talk to, caring and knowledgeable so I was always excited for the next appointment. The staff are also very kind and welcoming. Definitely recommend!

On behalf of JL: This place is amazing. I messed up my back doing things like yardwork too much amongst other things. I had gotten to a point where I had to go to the emergency room because I would move improperly, tweak my back, and be floored and be unable to get back up until my back calmed down. It was like that commercial with the lady that has fallen and couldn't get back up. That was me. At half that age. Anyway, I got a shot, for prescribed pain pills, eventually had an MRI and got recommended to get physical therapy. I wanted to go to physical therapy, but had a hard time finding someone that would accommodate my work schedule. Essentially, I'm stuck going to therapy sessiona after work, after 5pm, but most everyone has their latest times before I can actually arrive and most before I could actually leave. This is the first great thing about Back in Motion, at least in Fort Myers where I was able to go. They allowed me to get there at about 5:30. Dr. Dan was the one who helped me and he was very accommodating and never showed that he minded if I got held up for a few minutes due to traffic. I was often there a few minutes after my scheduled appointment, so I really appreciated the understanding and patience with me. The second thing about the place that I find great is Dr. Dan himself. If he is an example of Back in Motion's staff, then I think they have something special going on. Dr. Dan didn't stop at one thing that might be causing me to continue to have pain, but tried to look at all possible avenues. The neurologist had diagnosed me with one thing, but when the things he would give me to do weren't working as expected, he would confer with his colleagues if about my condition and just used whatever resources he had available to get to the bottom of what was actually going on with me. He was eventually able to come up with a reason for my pain and targeted that with any exercises and assignments he would give me when I was at home. The difference has been significant. I went from thinking I would have to be on some pain medication for an indefinite amount of time to not needing my pain meds at all. One's mileage will vary depending on the particular condition, but for me I was certain I would be living with back pain forever. I'm glad I was proven wrong. If Dr. Dan is indeed a great reflection of their personnel, then what I learned from going to Back in Motion is that if one has an issue they can help fix, then they'll likely find it and they'll know what to do lead down a path to feeling better. Just remember to do your homework! The doctors are there to guide. If you don't put in the hard work at home doing what they suggest, you might as well not go. It's like your teeth. If you don't keep your teeth clean like you're supposed to, the dentist is going to be able to do nothing for you. So make sure you follow their directions and communicate and issues you have. If you do, you'll be happy you did. I know I am. Very happy. Thanx again Dr. Dan. I thought you would help me with desk with my pain. But, you've actually helped me change my life.

I had a partial knee replacement November 18, 2021 and started Physical Therapy November 19, yes the next day after the surgery. I was impressed that all of the PT staff were doctors and the treatment plan was individualized to my needs and goals. I am an RN and I did my own research before scheduling a PT clinic. I absolutely made the right choice with Back In Motion. I worked with Dr. James and Dr. Jim most of my therapy sessions. They always asked how I was doing and listened to me carefully. They found exercises that were best for me to do at home between appointments as well as the ones we did in the clinic. The front office staff was helpful and friendly offering encouragement each time I came in. I just want to mention I met with Dr. Vanessa for a session and Dr. Dan preformed a thorough assessment on discharge day, January 31. Everyone that I met at Back in Motion made sure that I had the best experience at every appointment. Thank you to each and every one of you! You all made me feel cared for and confident of my recovery.

Dr. Anthony Simone is fantastic! He has helped me to become more mobile and the techniques he taught me really combats pain. I’ve been in pain too long and I’m extremely grateful to have found, “Back In Motion.” Dr. Simone’s attention to detail is outstanding and he really cared about my injuries. Thank you, Dr. Simone!

This place is next level physical therapy. I’ve had physical therapy all through my life and I’ve never experienced the techniques or the level of expertise that I have with these folks. At first I was apprehensive because in the past physical therapy was just a waste of time. I had tried other top physical therapist in the area for example Apex physical therapy. This is nothing like that, this is what physical therapy is supposed to be. Nobody’s is having me sit on the bike for 10 minutes and telling me to warm up. They get to work right off and tackle the problem. And here’s a unique concept you actually get 60 minutes of physical therapy. There techniques and procedures are cutting edge you will not find a better physical therapist in Lee county.

I cannot say enough about Back in Motion Sport and Spine Physical Therapy and specifically Dr. Anthony Simone. After going to an orthopedic doctor and being put on a round of steroids —and then was to get a cortisone injection, I decided to reach out for another way to treat my shoulder .After searching on line, I decided to go with Back in Motion.I liked their idea of a non invasive treatment. I was an avid Pickleball player and worked out at the gym. I had an injury from an injection and I had some serious loss of motion, loss of strength ,instability and inflammation in my shoulder. After working with Doctor Anthony for a little over 3 months twice a week and doing the exercises he gave me to do at home every day, I am now back at the gym doing HIIT classes and playing pickleball. I didn’t think I would ever do those two things again. I am so thankful for Dr. Anthony’s expertise and technique to get me up and going again. Definitely 5 plus stars!

Several months ago, a relative encouraged me to contact Back in Motion for help with balance issues. I was fortunate to work with Dr. James Porco twice weekly for several weeks. Each session was challenging; no two were ever alike. Not only that, but I truly enjoyed trying to maintain my balance during the exercises. Dr. Porco also thoroughly answered any questions I asked. For me, it was fun working with him; and, my balance greatly improved under his guidance. I continue to feel confident about all things involving balance. As my first experience with physical therapy, I highly recommend the Back in Motion team.

My wife set up appointments with Dr. Andrew at the Cape Coral office after she had a serious fall. She had remarkable success in recovering thanks to the excellent services provided. While she was there she mentioned having bouts of positional vertigo and Dr. Andrew was able perform the Epley maneuver and almost like a miracle her many years of suffering from that ailment ended. A month later she is still doing great. I can highly recommend the Cape Coral office to anyone who needs an excellent physical therapist.

Back In Motion and their Dr James Porco have been a godsend for me. After three back surgeries and the resultant fusion of my bottom three spine joints I developed severe SI Joint and Piriformis muscle pain. Through manipulation, dry-needling and assignment of the correct at-home exercises Dr. James has relieved my pain and saved me from yet another fusion of my SI Joints. The concentrated one-on-one sessions at this practice are the gold standard in PT.

I had chronic hip pain for 8 years and no one could tell me why, including numerous orthopedic surgeons. About a year ago, I went to a third Orthopedic surgeon, who basically told me that I should have a total hip replacement despite having what looks like a totally normal hip (on scans and x-rays). This sounded completely ludicrous to me, so I decided to give physical therapy another try. I had tried everything under the sun at this point with no relief, but I figured I'd make one more last ditch effort. Back in Motion was referred to my husband for his back pain, so I called them and set up a consultation. I was a medical mystery to them as well, but was told that there was significant muscle weakness that could be improved and might improve my quality of life. I was also told that it could take a significant amount of time to see improvement. I appreciated the honesty. And they were right; however, the 8 months that it has taken is nothing compared to 8 YEARS of daily agony. I have been a patient of Dr. Gray's for those 8 months and my quality of life has definitely improved. When I started I couldn't walk down the driveway or lift anything heavy without being incapacitated for 3 days. Now, I am able to walk almost 3 miles and am lifting weight that I would have never thought possible. I definitely recommend Dr. Gray and his team, whether you have a medical mystery like mine, or just need a tune up!

Thank you Back In Motion and Dr. Gray. I had a terrible slip and fall accident in August of 2021. In an attempt to arrest my fall, I hyper extended my right shoulder and ultimately smashed my left shoulder into the concrete floor. After a couple of months of increasing pain and being unable to obtain an appointment with my general practitioner, I asked a colleague if he knew anyone. He immediately referred Back in Motion and Dr. Gray to me. My first appointment was November 2nd, 2021. Dr. Gray stared right in and used an ultra sound to show me the 4 partial tears in both my shoulders and 1 tear in my left bicep. He knew I was in a lot of pain and immediately came up with a treatment plan. He was upfront about the fact that it would be a long therapy road, and fully believed that I could completely recover without surgery. I have been following his plan and exercises and attending almost weekly therapy sessions and I am very happy to report that after almost 5 months of therapy, my shoulders and bicep are more than 95% healed. I am very grateful to the entire staff for leading the way to recovery and not feeling pain. I am grateful that therapy worked and I did not and will not have to have surgery. I highly recommend Back In Motion, Dr. Gray, Dr. James and the entire staff! I appreciate all of you!

Very personal and targeted physical therapy. I had many issues and over the five months (2x week) that they treated me they approached each one thoughtfully with targeted treatment. They got rid of so much of the pain that I was suffering. The supportive attitude was much appreciated. I was not an “ easy” patient. The surgery that I finally had for bone on bone arthritic hip joint went really well and my recovery is stronger because of all the pre op therapy I had. James and Anthony were my primary therapists and they are both smart and very competent therapists. Everyone who took care of me was great. I highly recommend this practice.

I came back for more therapy this time for bursitis in my knee. I was treated by Dr Dan Lyons in Your Ft Myers location. Dan was very through in helping with exercises as well as manipulating the soft tissue in my knee. There were times I would come in frustrated after a few days of bad pain & he would in his calm demeanor figure out what caused it & help me feel better. He also discovered by checking my stride that I should be wearing orthotics ALL the time. I would say he left no stone unturned!. I felt comfortable with him & if I should need additional therapy I would go back. Thank you Dr Dan!

Dr. Daniel Lyons helped me get rid of back and hip pain that I thought only surgery would relieve. I thought for sure I was going to need a hip replacement. I couldn't even sleep on my right side and when I got up in the morning I couldn't stand up straight. After about 4 sessions I started noticing a big difference. I could sleep on my right side again. No longer did I feel like an invalid when I got up in the morning. I could golf 4 times a week with minimal soreness. Dr. Dan taught me exercises to do at home which I do faithfully and I can say that I am basically pain free now. I reluctantly discontinued my therapy after 7 weeks because I was feeling so good. I would recommend anyone suffering back or other joint pain to try Back in Motion before considering surgical intervention.

Dr. Simone has been treating me for Achilles tendinitis. I never expected to get back to tennis and Pickleball so soon. He is an excellent pt, thoroughly explaining each treatment and putting together an appropriate individualized treatment plan. Most importantly he understood the importance for me to be able to return to full activity and is meeting my expectations. I wholeheartedly recommend him.

From one day to the next, I could not walk again and had tremendous pain in my hip. I had to go to the emergency. Got an x-ray, all was ok and they released me with medication. No diagnosis. 2 days later, pain was excruciating and still could not walk. I had to return to emergency again. The gave me all king of injection for pain and had a CT Scan which showed nothing. Sent back home again with heavy pain killer. I had to use a walker to be able to move. 10 days later , I was still using the walker but the painkiller help me to pass better days. I went on the internet to search about hip since I still did not get a diagnosis. Find out that it could be a bursitis. So I started searching for a place where they treat that kind of thing. I wanted to walk again. I found BACK TO MOTION. I called and made an appointment. I met with Dr Anthony. In my first consultation, He confirm that it was a bursitis. By the way, I came in, still with my walker as it was so painful to walk. In the first treatment they dealt with the muscle of my leg that was like an iron bar. Next day, this muscle was already releasing itself and it allow me to go on and on walking in my house, with my walker. The second day, I went to their office for my second treatment, WITHOUT MY WALKER, ON MY TWO LEGS. WOW, I could not believe it. Not walking as fast but still, on my two legs. Dr Anthony is so knowledgeable about nerve, muscle..... He has been so patient with me and at the same time staying on, pushing forward to help me. He listened to my fear and concerns and educated me on the matter. All that without medication. It is so worth a consultation if you do not know who to turn to anymore. Dr Antony made me and still makes me feel so good, just by understanding. His knowledge will put you back together faster then the regular orthopedist. I recommend BACK TO MOTION so strongly. Even if it is after a surgery, they will help you gain you strength back. Thank you Dr Anthony, so appreciating you and who you are.

In early 2021 I fell and broke my arm/wrist. After getting my cast off I went through PT with another provider to regain range of motion. I went back to regular activities but after two weeks developed severe shoulder pain. I was told it was FROZEN SHOULDER. Internet articles all said PT was not helpful and it normally took 2-7 years for resolution. After a couple of weeks of intense pain a neighbor recommended Back in Motion. I started treatment on August 11 with Dr. Anthony Simone. I was released around Christmas and I am back to playing tennis with no pain with full range of motion. Don't believe the internet...make your appointment today.
