Larnaca Salt Lake is a complex network of four salt lakes of different sizes to the west of the city of Larnaca. The largest is lake Aliki, followed by lake Orphani, lake Soros and lake Spiro. They form the second largest salt lake in Cyprus after the Limassol Salt Lake. Besides its picturesque beauty, the lake is the haunt of 85 species of water-birds with estimated populations between 20,000–38,000. It is one of the important migratory passages through Cyprus. Among them are 2,000–12,000 flamingoes which spend the winter months there feeding off populations of the brine shrimp Artemia salina. A must visit place

This place is so beautiful and peaceful. It's easy to park, free of charge and it has a big open space. You can observe flamingos very easily from there, but they are quite shy birds, they won't come too close to the shore when you are there. But if you could be qiret and wait for a while, they would slowly come closer. Definitely a great place to get closer to nature! I highly recommend this spot!

It is an amazing lake full of salt. It is just amazing. The smell of waters is wonderful I recommend it. The nature is everywhere. The water is full of microorganisms and shrimps. But do not fool your self and think that those shrimps will be tasty on a grill. If you eat them you will turn pink just like the flamingos that roam the area. You can find flamingos when it starts to rain in Cyprus and the lake becomes full, which depends on the planes that spray our clouds every now and then. The best part is mosquitoes. 10 minutes near Larnaca you will be reminded of the existence of this salt lake as thousands near to millions of mosquitoes will drink every last drop of your blood while leaving you with an unbearable need to scratch the skin off your flesh. Otherwise 5/5 for the nice views

Pink flamingos 🦩 visit the lake in winter. When I visited in mid November there were 2 big groups. Should bring a good camera to get a good picture. However you can walk around and enjoy the views. Various parking around the lake.

Beautiful lake. Easy to access and you can park close to Hala Sultan Teke. You cannot drive around it, but you can go for a walk. It's beautiful on a sunny day, with lots of wild life and picturesque views. There won't be shaded areas and places to rest or any services, so if you fancy hiking around, be prepared. Worth a visit.

Nice place for a walk alongside the salt lake, where you can watch the flamingos and other water birds. Great view of the Hala Sultan Tekkesi - this place has a ridiculous number of cute cats, it must be their sanctuary. There is several benches throughout the path, ideal to contemplate those magnificent birds.

The Salt Lake in Larnaca is 30+ minutes walk from Larnaca's Finikoudes beach(tourist area). We had a good walk along the lake on our way to the historic Hala Sultan mosque and also stopped by the Salt Lake a few times for views across.

Beautiful natural masterpiece! There is a lovely bike/hiking path around the lake that offers amazing views over the lake, and even simply viewing it from the various observation points is a must when in Larnaca.

I visited it in November, and there were no birds, no water. Just a mud and salt. Large area covered by mud and salt. The guide said in winter there will be a lot of flamingo and water. It is located near Hala Sultan mosque.

Lovely place to visit. Went October when you can walk out onto the salt. Will be going back when the rain falls and the flamingos 🦩 are back. There is a walk all the way round the loch. Nice picnic area and ice cream van depending when you’re there

Located close to Larnaca Airport. Actually, there is a combination of four salt lakes there. This is a Special Protection Area under the Law of European program Natura 2000. A space for water-birds. Especially, you may see flamingos from a short distance (but not to nearly close). If you want, you make put on water shoes and take a walk. Local road B 4 leading there. You can leave your car by the roadside. There is a lot of space. I visited Larnaca Salt Lake oin November 2018.

Larnaca salt lake is a complex network for salt lakes of different sizes to the west of the city Larnaca. The largest is Lake Aliki. The Total surface area of the lakes add up to 2.2 sq km. Being just off the road leading to Larnaca international Airport is 1 of most distinctive Landmarks of the area.

We visited in the summer, very little water and wildlife, would imagine it is a site to behold when full and there are birds there.

  • 5/5 Joline T. 1 year ago on Google
The water already comes back and today we were already able to see some flamingos, they were in the middle of the lake and not super close. But they were there and we were able to here their sounds. It's so cool when they start flying. It is a really nice place to watch the flamingos and also other birds. The mot is a little bit slippy and also stinky, but this was not too bad. I had a really good time there 😊☀️

And the lake is just like a swamp :( (Original) Спочатку я думала, що побачу там взимку сотні фламінго, зроблю фото, такі як всюди в зображеннях Google :) Проте озеро величезних розмірів і всі птахи десь посередині і їх видно лише як рожеву пляму здалеку. Beautiful landscape to visit, especially in winter when the flamingos are there. In the summer, the lake is mostly dry, and you can see salt residues which remain around the space the lake occupies

If you like a flat nature walk, this is perfect. We started at Lazarus place and walked down to the Teke. Takes roughly 3 hours. Maybe too hot for summer but ideal on a sunny January day.

A must see in autumn/winter. You can cross the lake using the rocks in the middle as a pointer for depth and the flamingos are a beauty to behold. As soon as the mosque appears on the horizon, otherwordly sensations kick in.

Not far away from the airport there is the salt lake of Larnaca, you can see the flamingo 🦩 enjoying the salt, there's a walking path along the salt lake, you can stop, look at flamingos and have a great time while you explore Larnaca, there are branches along and you can stop and just relax while you look at the flamingo in the salt lake.

Very nice place to visit. I was excited about the nature, birds and the lake exactly. Only two points what I take as negative. First is, that is garbage dump close to lake and second point that I wanted to make walk around all the lake but there is no possibility to make it. Its possible to walk just close to road but opposite side is not available for cycling, running or just walking somebody wants to walk around whole lake like me.

(Translated by Google) Strange place). It looks a little like the usual tourist routes. There are practically no people ... empty and uncomfortable.   Were on November 8th. There was water in the lake. In the distance, perhaps, flamingos swam ...   At the beginning of the path stood a lonely painted van in which a friendly Cypriot sold ice cream and sweets.   I think that in summer and autumn, tourists have nothing to do in this place. Winter was not, I think it would be more fun) (Original) Странное место).
