We discovered this castle while meandering our way on the back roads from Prague to Bavaria and I'm so glad we stopped. It's a nice hike up to the castle from the parking area, part is paved and part is rock. The rock trail is in good repair and easy to walk. Parking does have a cost and it is either Czech bills or card. The castle has a low entry fee, 450 Czech for a family of 3, so about $20. To see inside the castle, you need a guide and that is what the fee is for. Zdenek was our guide and he was great. The tour is in Czech but we were given text to follow and Zdenek spoke great English and was able to answer any questions we had. While this place is off the main roads, it was totally worth the stop.

It’s a medieval castle located in Sumava National Park, and it is said to be the most highly located royal castle in Bohemia. You San buy tickets at the entrance, the excursion takes one hour. There’s a small souvenir shop and a kiosk with food and drinks where you can try Kasperk pancake (prepared in front of you) either with garlic or sweet version. In general, this castle was smaller than I expected, but the views from the above are fascinating.

Very nice castle and specially the surroundings. Some shows are going around but at specific hours. Worth the visit even if in the middle of nowhere. Parking is not cheap and far from the castle, so count with 20 or 30 min walking specially if you have kids.

Not worth the hike up after 6 pm, gate closed & the view on the castle is pretty disappointing especially after 1.5 km walk through pretty sad half felled forest. There are much better places & views around that part of Czech rep, certainly for an evening walk :)

It billed as the highest altitude castle in Bohemia. I just walked around the front part of the grounds for free. Tours cost about 200 krona. You can park pretty close to the ticket counter but I noticed many people walked about 1-2 kilometres to get here. Seems unnecessary. It’s popular with families. There are food spaces and archery

I visited Kašperk Castle in Aug 2023, and it was truly a remarkable experience. Located amidst the stunning landscapes of southwestern Bohemia, this medieval castle stands proudly at an impressive elevation of 886 meters above sea level, making it the most highly located royal castle in Bohemia. What struck me most about Kašperk Castle is the evident care and dedication put into its preservation and restoration. However, what made my visit truly exceptional was the guided tour led by Zdenek. Without a doubt, Zdenek is the best castle guide I have ever encountered. His knowledge of the castle's history is impressive, Zdenek didn't just recite facts; he shared intriguing historical anecdotes that brought the castle to life. I can't praise Zdenek enough for his outstanding tour, and I believe he is an invaluable asset to Kašperk Castle. His dedication to ensuring visitors have an unforgettable experience sets this castle apart. If you're in the area and have the opportunity to visit Kašperk Castle, don't miss it. Thank you, Kašperk Castle, and especially Zdenek, for a memorable visit.

Beautiful place with stunning views. The castle Kašperk is situated on top of a hill with great views of the surrounding valleys. The castle itself is not large. It is free to enter the courtyard but a guided tour of the interior costs a fee. Car parking is about a kilometre from the castle and the walk to it is pleasant.

The castle of Kasperk is part of the trio of castles, that used to guard the border. Definetely recommend going for the tour about living in the medieval ages. The guide and other people involved are really enthusiastic about what they do and you will learn a lot. The view on the whole region from Kasperk is priceless.
