This is a below average Marriott. Let's start with the good: The staff is very helpful. They are well versed in the local area and how to get around, providing guidance on public transport and maps. Now for the bad: To start, checking in we were given a room which was occupied. The next room (which we had to wait 90 minutes for) smelled badly from a smoker, despite the hotel having a non-smoking policy. This room had serious water damage and peeling paint on the ceiling in several spots. The bathroom also had many spots of excessive wear and year, including broken tiles. A small thing, but still worth noting, the safe in the room was too small to fit a laptop or tablet. Finally, at checkout the credit card not charged and I had to call long distance at my own expense to resolve the issue which was an error on their part. I do not recommend staying here. As the bus system is so easy to navigate, stay somewhere nicer commute in if you must be in this area.

Multiple staff members came into our room without warning through our one night stay. After the second intrusion, we brought it up with the front desk who assured us it would not happen again. Yet we were abruptly waken up the next morning by a staff member. Unfortunately the doors do not have deadbolts on them. Otherwise, the hotel is alright, but this is completely unacceptable.

The best service I have received at a hotel - everyone was friendly and helpful, especially in Zucca restaurant. The room was nice and clean. The only disappointment was the gym which was very small and minimal and had no natural light or music or atmosphere. No pool or sauna either which is rare for a hotel of this calibre. The location was a bit out of the centre but a nice park and lots of restaurants, and bus/tram stops are nearby.

Bonvoy Titanium member. Upgrade to river view room. Friendly staff. Clearly missing amenities in the room: no coffee, no water, no body lotion etc. Addressed this at the front desk and via Marriott app. Both didn’t follow up. Waited 2 hours, then went to sleep. Below average.

This hotel is located at the edge of the city center, right on the Parc de la Tete d'Or, attached to a conference center, and next to the contemporary art museum. My room had a balcony with a view of the park. On the one day we had sun, it was lovely to sit outside. The hotel looks like it's been refurbished recently with a modern and contemporary vibe. The lobby is vast with high ceilings. A perfect place to meet up with people and socialize. Wifi throughout the property and room was excellent. Our room and bathroom was mostly updated as well. Average size. We had a separate shower and tub, however, the shower was compact. I'm a slim person so you may want to take this into consideration. The bathroom was refurbished, except for the tiling. It seemed dated, but I could be wrong about that. The room also had an adequate amount of storage. It also came with a safe and mini-refrigerator. I was a bit disappointed with the breakfast buffet. I've stayed at other Marriott properties where the quality and selection were superior. I only had some fruit. Luckily, the restaurant does offer a made-to-order omelette. This was delicious! There are a handful of self-service coffee machines. Press the button of your choice and you can have a black or specialty coffee. The restaurant has outdoor seating overlooking the park. Even though I didn't exercise during this stay, I did go into the fitness center. It had all the basic equipment, however, it felt dark and claustrophobic because there aren't any windows. If you're a runner or walker, I'd take advantage of the park. Most staff were welcoming and friendly. Kudos to front desk and restaurant staff. We had an interaction with a housekeeper that wasn't a positive experience. We asked for towels. The response and facial expression was not so nice. Other than that, housekeeping did a great job servicing our room. At the beginning of my review, I mentioned the hotel is located at the edge of the city center. You can walk to the center where the attractions are in 50 minutes, or take a bus (behind the hotel) in 15-20 minutes. This property is a great option if you have a meeting at the attached conference center, or you don't want to be bothered with the noise and busyness of staying in the center of the city.

Large two bedroom suites on the 8th floor with terrace overlooking the park. Close to city center and easy access to the public transportation tram. Connected to a series of restaurants and shops just steps from the hotel.

The staff were all very friendly throughout our stay. We had a deluxe room with a view of the trees and lake. The room was large and modern. Nothing fancy, but clean and spacious. It had a bathtub and separate shower which was amazing to find in France. I was pleasantly surprised to find it also had a large private balcony with table and seating for two. They provide free breakfast each morning but we slept late each day so I have no idea what they had. 😂 There are bus stops right behind the hotel, so it was easy to get around. You can text BUS to 93069 and you'll get a ticket by text that you can show the driver. They also have machines at some bus stops but not all. Or you can buy a pack of 10 tickets at a tabac or buy a Lyon city pass from the office of tourism at Place Bellacour for unlimited public transport and free tours and access to museums. The only negative of our stay was our AC was not working the first night, so it was stuffy inside. And since we had checked in at nearly midnight, I just kept the balcony door open and waited until the next day when we were heading out to report it. Front desk staff assured me a technician would check it and sure enough when we returned the room was nice and cool. Overall I was pleased with our stay and will return another time.

great experience. Staff is amazing and went above and beyond. It felt like a Ritz experience with a fraction of cost. They fulfilled all our requests. Totally worth it.

The hotel was clean and professional. Seemed more of a hotel for conferences then for a tourist but it was the closest Marriott to the city center. Difficult to purchase drinking water as there is no gift shop. If you need ice, you must bring your bucket downstairs to the restaurant. There is a casino in the basement.

Can't complain....room was large and comfortable as you'd expect. But a late booking rate of 170euros seemed like exploitation (I arrived and asked for the room at 1am and they knew I'd be out by 9am). Breakfast nog included in that. If it has been 100-150inc breakfast which seems to be a more common price charged id have been delighted Right next to a beautiful park I walked through the following morning

overnight stay to continue a car trip. Very comfortable, clean and good amenities. EV charger for 12 euros + 17 euros parking (as of May 23). Good attention from staff.

Hotel is at the conference center. Breakfast was great with loads of cheese and bread choices. We got upgraded to the junior suite, nice balcony with sunshine most of the day! Room was big clean and new. The carbonara pasta at the restaurant was very bad but everything else at their Italian restaurant was pretty good. Gym had all the basic things you needed.

No hablan español PD: Not only did his receptionist not speak Spanish because he was a boy, and both at the entrance and at the exit there was no said receptionist, But it's okay to say it to look good in the review for the public that reads it Good thing there are more hotels in Lyon

I attended a research conference and stayed in this hotel. It is pretty convenient and would recommend including the breakfast because it is very complete, convenient, and delicious. The view from my room was beautiful. The only downside is that I was not able to find water fountains, and there is not a good ac outside the rooms. Other than that, this hotel is located in a pretty nice location. You may have to take a bus to visit the touristic places that are more towards the center of lyon, which is not bad because there are many bus stations close to the hotel

My sister & I stayed here for 2 nights in July 2023 and had a wonderful experience! The staff were friendly and we had a nice, modern room with a balcony view over the park. The restaurant was incredible and we ended up eating there both nights because the food, service, and vibe were all so fantastic! This is a great hotel if you are attending a conference or looking for a more quiet experience and don't mind being outside of the city center. It was very easy for us to cab downtown to meet up with our tour.

Just stayed for a few nights while my husband had business trip. The hotel really needs to redo all their rooms! Also not good for people with asthma or allergies. They have no ac on in the fall or winter. Very stuffy in rooms. also they allow dogs in all common areas including restaurant. The service was good at the restaurant and all the employees were nice

The worst Marriott of 20 I've stayed at. The room has a terrific bathroom, and good service personnel, but few electrical plug-ins and no character. The light swiches were incoveniently placed. The walls are virtually baren and the huge upgraded room we refused before getting the current room was even more cold-spirited. This is a strictly functional hotel, thay functions poorly, with a nice but unnecessarily obstructed view of the Rhone. And I could not send an email via the hotel wifi.

Great stay at Marriott in Lyon. Hotel is to notch, But had a truly exquisite concierge (Margaux) that truly made our trip. Went so far above and beyond.....she is a gem! Thanks M ~ we will be back

Sometimes the measure of a hotel is not on the size of the rooms or the bathrooms or the comfort of the beds but on the assistance given by the staff of the hotel when an emergency arises. Such is the story of the Lyon Marriott. We left some important documents behind in the safe at our last stop in Avignon, and our French was not good enough to explain our predicament to the night manager at Avignon hotel. The staff at the Lyon Marriott reception desk listened to our predicament in English then contacted the Avignon hotel, found the documents, and made sure we could pick them up in the morning. We were saved. Oh yes, the rooms on the executive 8th floor were excellent, large rooms with a comfortable bed and a large bathroom and separate toilet. The concierge was also excellent and gave us great advice for our afternoon sightseeing in Lyon.

The hotel is located in a massive conference sort of hub . Not exactly in the city centre but flanked on both sides by a beautiful park and the Rhone River. Our room had a beautiful view of the river and was perfect for a morning cup of coffee on the mini terrace. Breakfast was a standard fare and room needed some TLC.

Bonvoy Platinum here: Great full-service hotel in a beautiful park setting. I really love this hotel, but especially for the two staff members Marilou (front desk) and Rodney-Baptiste (concierge) who went far above and beyond to help me through some unexpected matters of my journey. These dedicated employees are examples why that I’ve invested so much in Marriott rewards. Thank you for all your help.

Great hotel, bang in the center of of conference center which makes it very convenient for people needing to be be there early. Breakfast is good, rooms are clean, large and you get a rather nice view of the park if you're on the left side of the elevator doors. All staff (English speaking or not) are very nice too 🙂

I'm a Marriott Gold member and have stayed at a wide variety of properties around the world. The Lyon Marriott staff were welcoming and helpful. The overall building which is part of a large conference center is impressive. You are right across from a fantastic park. The rooms are reasonably spacious, modern and clean. Our A/C and fan unit made quite a bit of noise and our children in an adjacent room had a quiet one, so a small issue there. Overall, a great spot for our family for a night in Lyon.

This is our second visit to the Lyon Marriott. It’s a huge modern hotel, in the conference centre area and right on the river. For our first visit we were in a standard king room, with no balcony and an interior view of the hotel. The rooms are really good with a huge bed, good quality sheets, a small fridge, a lovely contemporary decor and great spacious bathrooms with both a bath and a separate shower. On our second visit we were upgraded to a deluxe king room with a balcony and a view over the river. We really appreciated this upgrade. It was probably given because when we arrived our reservation couldn’t be found on their system, despite it being completely visible on the Marriott Bonvoy app on my husbands phone. But the reception team handled it really well. We are travelling with our dog and so there is an extra 15 Euro charge for his stay, but no extra facilities were offered for him. The parking is valet parking and we had a roof top box and two road bikes on the roof of our car. On the first visit they just accepted the car with the bikes on it with no query. On the second visit they asked if we had reserved a special space for the extra height needed. We hadn’t as we were never asked to do so the first time. And it wasn’t mentioned on the Marriott website. The hotel is also right next to a lovely park, so there are some good walks straight out of the hotel. The breakfast is a buffet and they had a really good selection on offer. We were able to eat outside as well, which is easier with our dog and safer with Covid still rife. Overall we would definitely use the hotel again for our transit stop through France.

Thanks for another lovely stay Marriott. Staff was so lovely and I appreciate the upgrade! The views from the room are beautiful and the balcony is a nice place to relax at the end of a long day.

We stayed here a total of 5 nights on two different occasions and had the opportunity to take advantage of most of what the hotel offered. It's located by a lovely park but you need a car or public transportation to access the city. This is unfortunate as the hotel has one restaurant: Zucca. Lunch or dinner at Zucca is nice but there is nothing casual offered: no sandwiches or burgers. The wine list is nice. The breakfast buffet is nothing more than adequate with very apathetic waitstaff. During our stay, the exact items were on the buffet with the exception on a Sunday where no hot food was on the buffet. As we were leaving, we noticed omelets brought to a table. Since this wasn't communicated to us, we couldn't take advantage of it. On the last night we decided to get a nightcap from the bar. It was only 9:30 and it and the restaurant were closed despite the Guest Services Directory stating the bar was open until 1 am and the restaurant was open until 10 pm. The Executive Lounge was also closed during our stay. The mini bar was offered instead with water, soda and beer. No snacks or wine was available and we were informed the mini bar was only replenished every two days. This property is not up to a major city/Marriott property. I would not stay here again or recommend it to others,

Requested a baby bed when we booked the room and the hotel informed us that it will be available for us. Upon check-in at the reception, the staff confirmed with us that the baby bed is already in the room but we there was no baby bed. Called reception and told them the bed is not in the room and they informed us they will deliver it to us shortly. Night came, but still, no baby bed, went to the reception and ask them why is that so and this time they said they were not sure if they have one available and will check it for us. No one bothered to get back to us if there was any baby bed. Called them again next morning to raise the issue, and this time they said they will bring it to us. After one night and a total of THREE attempts after checking into the hotel, we finally have the baby bed. My problem with them is, why bother promising us a baby bed if they have limited number of it and cannot guarantee us one? If you do promise us one, then, please, deliver it! Very dissatisfied with the lack of communication and broken promises from the hotel, and none of them apologised to us for the inconvenience. Our room's bathtub tap was loose. I also find it ridiculous that we had to call reception to request for room slippers in a four-star hotel.

Way-below average for a Marriott. I’m a Marriott-Bonvoy member who travels quite a lot. This hotel has great potential but on arrival, our bathroom had not been cleaned (trash, make-up residues etc), room service and restaurants were shut and the single dual USB charger in the room would not work. Informed reception who told us our minibar would be free (cokes and water) and that the bathroom would be cleaned (it was), and the USB repaired. It never was! Great location next to the conference centre and a beautiful Lyon park but still the worst Marriott I’ve stayed at (to-date).

Great hôtel ideally located next to the "Tête d'or" Park. The rooms are spacious, clean, with a nice and practical design. A lot of natural light, which is always great! Whereas the hôtel is great, the cherry on the top is the great staff - they are all very welcoming, from the Réception, to the Breakfast and Housekeeping staff. All of them were outstanding, and I have to mention Ioana for her amazing service and warmth as she was there both for our arrival and our departure. Perfect stay in a very cool Marriott hotel! Thank you!

Overall, my stay here was great. The rooms are large and very clean. It was a very comfortable stay. The only downside is that it was pretty far from downtown Lyon but the bus picks up right behind the hotel. This ended up not being an issue.

I stayed in this hotel durin a business trip. This is actually more a convention center than a hotel. The location is good for romance but for people who need to access certain businesses like good restaurants or groceries is not suitable. People are very professional and welcoming. The rooms need a better maintenence. The restaurant for breakfast is doing well. I didn't have a chance to try other meals.

Rooms are big and spacious, however, walls are very thin. You can hear neighbors door shut, tvs, telephone ringing. For a big hotel, putting all customers on the same side is very cheap. Windows are not soundproof. Great location , there is a cinema and a casino nearby. Plenty of restaurants options. And breakfast is excellent 👌

This Marriott has the nicest people working for them. From the concierge, Daniel, to the front desk attendants, to the bar tender and the housekeeping. They made our stay so nice and very comfortable while we were in Lyon. The food @ Zucca, whether it was breakfast or dinner, was absolutely delicious. If anyone goes there for dinner, try the pumpkin knocchi. Ç'est très magnifique! There is a park right behind it that has great walking trails and is absolutely beautiful. It's right next to the Museè D'Art Contempaire. It's located in Citè Internationale, so there are many places to eat. There's also two bus stops right near it to get you to wherever you desire in Lyon. You will have to buy a ticket, whether it's for an hour, a day or two or a few. They have the ticket machine right at the bus stop to do so.
