3/5 Sydney Y. 7 months ago on Google
Cons:
-
Rooms:
dark,
dirty
(bathroom
mainly
was
disgusting
but
there
were
puddles
on
the
floor
in
the
room
and
because
we
can’t
wear
shoes
inside,
my
socks
got
drenched
with
some
mystery
liquid),
loud
(vibrating
fan),
bad
plug
ins
(turns
light
switch
when
you
plug
in
something
wider,
like
an
Apple
usb
cube).
-
Accessibility:
tons
of
stairs
(5-6
flights)
depending
on
the
room
you
get
placed
in
(not
advertised
nor
were
there
options
to
choose
for
the
dorms).
-
Reception
closes
early
(22:00)
(but
there
is
night
security)
-
Wifi:
slow
wifi
in
room,
took
forever
to
upload
anything
or
load
photos.
Maybe
this
is
city
wide
but
Bikini
Bottom
has
good
wifi
so
I’m
not
sure.
-
Holds
passport
as
a
deposit,
even
though
I’ve
already
paid.
-
No
locked
doors.
-
Not
many
common
areas.
Pros:
-
Stairs
to
bunk
bed
-
Friendly
service
-
Great
location
-
Privacy
curtains
-
Spacious
rooms
-
Lockers
-
Co-working
space
-
Nice
art
on
walls
-
Good
value-
not
many
hostels
are
in
this
area
so
it’s
a
cheap
option
and
not
bad
but
I
don’t
think
you
could
convince
me
to
be
on
the
5th
floor
again.
Tip:
DO
NOT
BOOK
OR
EXTEND
AT
THE
HOSTEL
ITSELF.
I
rarely
run
into
places
that
charge
more
booking
directly
but
they
charge
~50%
more
than
all
the
booking
sites.
for
the
same
price
I
could’ve
gotten
myself
a
private
hotel
room
in
the
same
area
(which
is
what
I
ended
up
doing).
(I
compared
the
price
of
Lighthouse
on
Agoda
and
Hostelworld,
which
was
~89k,
to
book
the
next
night,
to
what
they
ended
up
charging
me,
and
it
was
130k
to
extend
directly.
For
reference,
I
booked
online
initially
in
roughly
the
same
ball
park
~89k,
after
looking
at
their
website
and
seeing
that
1
dorm
bed
was
150k).
Considering
these
sites
take
a
commission,
it’s
pretty
poor
business
practice,
and
not
a
fun
surprise.
