The Polish architect and conservator Kazimierz Kwiatkowski became director of the Polish-Vietnamese Monument Conservation Mission and was dispatched to the mine-infested country in the difficult post-war conditions. Here he helped restore My Son, Hoi An and Huế and thereby made an enormous contribution to Vietnamese culture and tourism – for which he’s remembered with this monument.

Square dedicated to Kazimierz Kwaiatowsky. Dedication below statue reads: Architect Kazimierz Kwaiatowsky, better known as Kasik, was born on 2 July 1944 in the Republic of Poland. In the 1980’s of the twentieth century he came to Vietnam to take part in the cooperative program for the preservation of the Vietnamese and Polish cultural heritage. With his enthusiasm and talent, he contributed greatly to discovery, research and publicity. He also helped Hoi An old town to be listed as a world cultural heritage in 1999. He became ill and died on 13 March 1997 in Hue. He dedicated his life and zeal to the cause of preservation of Vietnamese and world cultural heritage.

My favorite place in Vietnam. Unless you are out in Ha Long Bay. The street market is the best one I have been to in all of Asian. The lanterns covering the streets and in the trees .on the boats . It's a beautiful and romantic city .one of my favorite places.

The small sqaure in the middlemoff the old town dedicated to a Polish architect who helped preserve My Son (the holysee of the former Champa Kingdom - about 40km from Hoi An). Good place to have a rest or have some local foods served by hawker stalls
