Torna fort is about 200-210 KM form Mumbai travelling through a private vehicle is suggested there is a lot of parking space available at the base (base is on the mountain itself road construction is in progress still half work is done you can take your car or two wheeler there to park).from the base its not a long trek just 1:45 to 3 hrs depending upon how much weight You are carrying its not long but it has difficult 3-4 spots at the top . We went for camping so it took us 3 hrs as we had lot of food and the tents( you can stay inside the temple and the locals can make you food for safer side take your own food) water bottles are available on top and in between the trek for 30 rupees a litre and the water in the pond is only for cleaning and other personal use not safe for drinking. Great place for night stay good spots for camping along the edges from there you can visit Rajgad if you are planning 2 night stay. Over all it was a great experience 5 stars

One of the highest forts of chatrapati shivaji maharaj, this is my first trek and I loved it. Very nice, narrow trails, some time you have to wait for others who are coming from the upper side. I recommend the stick because it will help you on the trek. If you are carrying water bottles please don't throw it there. People who will sell lemon juice, water bottle, guava, cucumbers. Go early in the morning it will help you and you will get a very good view.

A lot of people will tell you , including google review that the fort is for beginners but trust me … this fort is the one which will show you truly what is the real meaning of trekking SAHYADRI RANGE. Guys the trekking pathway is not that difficult , but to sustain and carry along the path with your constant stamina is the challenge that most might face after reaching 30% pathway. It takes approx 2 and half hours to reach at the top gate of the fort . And it takes around more 2 hours to explore the fort completely from the right pathways towards RAJGAD till the zunzar machi towards the left . The trail trek towards the ZUNZAR MACHI is a bit difficult as you will have to climb down and up backwards towards the forts huge security pillars . It is mandatory to carry along a lot of water bottles to keep your body hydrated. Also , carry some supplements as per your requirement as you wont find many stops and halts for any food or snacks except for lemonade in the pathways . The fort is very vast and AWESOME too. One will feel relaxed , relieved from stress and the feeling of reaching the at the top will make you feel no less than an achiever .

First time trek to Torna from Rajgad was a grt experience. Torna is a huge fort not easy to climb from any direction, it will test you in all sense. View from top are beautiful. First fort conquered by Chh. Shivaji Maharaj during his conquest to build the Swarajya. Lots of myth and stories are still told about this fort. Lot of points to visit. You will find peace here.

Beautiful place. We visited this for a short trek in mid June this year. Even though there was no rain in surrounding areas, the Fort was covered in dense fog. It was continuously raining on the top. We could not roam much on the top of the fort because the visibility was really poor due to the fog. The trek was ok and would rate it between medium to difficult because of lack of proper climbing path. Few patches are bit risky. I would not recommend taking children there especially during monsoon.

Torna fort is located around 2 hour from Pune city. Torna fort trek is medium level difficulty trek and it takes around 2 - 2.5 walking hours to reach the fort from parking area. Around 200 m distance is bit difficult but rest is normal walking. I suggest to vist here with a group so that you can enjoy the time while trekking.

जय शिवराय 🚩 It's a Amazing place. It had a few places where slight wrong foot placement and you are gone😆 But once you reach at the top you feel like patting you back. The view is good. Once you reach to the top you are able to see Sinhagad Fort and Rajgad Fort. I would recommend going there in winter season as rainy would be difficult and summer is no for me.

The village base of Velhe is situated 50 km. from the city of Pune. This was the first fort to be captured by the Shivaji Maharaj, when he was just 16 years old and this formed the nucleus of Maratha Empire. छत्रपती शिवाजीमहाराज कि जय We have visited Torna Fort on 19th November 2023.Its was immense pleasure to Visit Torna Fort.Historically Torna Fort has great importance,It is first fort conquered by Ch Shivaji Maharaj at the age of 17 years. As it's first fort of Swarajya it's named as Toran of Swarajya I.e. Torana Gad,it is also Known as Prachandgad I.e. huge fort. The area of Torna fort is really huge which is covered with many mountains, hills, peaks. The fort was very well constructed and developed by Ch.Shivaji Maharaj till date long tatbandi ,huge buruj are in good condition ,nowadays government takes initiative of maintaining fort structure. You can reach at Torna fort by route Pune-Velhe-Torna Fort Base .Vehicle can reach upto Torna For base where ample parking is available with food stall from where you can take food, water as you will not get water and food for longer distance. From fort base it will take 1 to 1.5 hour to reach at fort top via Bini Darwaja ,the darwaja is still in very good condition and entrance is in curved manner which is kept curved in strategically to confuse enemy's reached upto door.Firstly you will reach at goddesses of fort Mata Mengai Devi, the temple is in good condition you can take blessings of goddesses and start to explore fort. You have to visit Zunjar Machi,Sadar, Budhala Machi,Chitta darwaja,Hatti maidan,Konkani darwaja, water tanks etc. Many of time rapplers explore Budhala Machi peak by rappling .To explore total Torna fort it will take atleast 2 days. There are range trekk paths from Torna fort to Rajgad fort which is famous range trekk of approx.5 to 6 hours for regular trekkers,we did same on same day which is thrilling experience. Zunjar Machi is really strategically constructed and still is in good condition. Budhala Machi is really looks challenging structure. The trekk is moderate ,also the fort base has dam which is really beautiful and scenic veiw. Try to maintain area neat in clean, don't throw plastic items here and there.

Torna fort is a Medium difficulty trek the views and breeze are spectacular the last leg of the trek is quite the challenge with huge boulders on the top and a rope to the rescue. Monkeys loom around at the top so need to be careful. Wear shows with good grip and grooves and you tend to slip a lot in the rains. It takes a good 3 hours for one day way trek to the top of you have medium fitness levels and a photo freak. The way down is a challenge as well so don’t take it lightly. Have fun while trekking!

Moderate level trek. But the fort is closed now. So u can enjoy the happiness of trekking which is worthy due to moonsoon. The path is slippery so take care of it. You will get a short waterfall and you can enjoy the lavish grennery, cold breezes and a beautiful secenario.

Torna Fort is one of the best forts I've trekked to so far. The top view, lush greenery, and the overall experience were fantastic. If you're planning to visit a fort, I highly recommend Torna. Make sure to explore Zunjar Machi, a stunning but challenging part of the trek. If you venture to Zunjar Machi, go with friends and avoid going alone. Courage is essential for this trek. Be cautious of monkeys at the top. Wear shoes with good grip, especially in the rainy season. The trek to the top takes around 3 hours for those with moderate fitness levels and a love for photography. The descent is also challenging, so be prepared. Trekking at Torna Fort was an amazing experience; have fun and enjoy the adventure!

Two trails available to go on Torna fort. One trail is of 2.5 hours which is little easy trail and another one is of 1.5 hours which is moderate and here photo shows the second trail. Amazing experience specially during rainy season. Who love going on treks must visit once. Cleanliness on fort is quite good. There are also some temples on fort.

The road to the starting point is not very good, so be prepared to go 25 km/hour maximum. There is a parking at the entrance to the trek, which is 70 rupees. The trek starts 20 metres from the parking. There are solar lights, trash containers and benches on the way. Not easy. As for me - I couldn't make it to the fort. Last 15 minutes of climbing were too dangerous and difficult. Be sure you have right shoes and enough water with you. The views are stunning!

It's amazing & thrilling experience throughout the trek. Tornado is also known as Prachandgad due to its huge built size. Earlier it was 3 hrs trek now it is hardly less than 2 hrs due to concrete road built till parking lot from Velhe police station. First half an hour easy to ascend to reach platue here after rapid ascend to take you to entrance of the fort. Inbetween you will get rocky patch and loose soil,so be carefull. Once you reach entrance, either you can at left for Zunzoor machi ( Burz) or right side path will go for Budla machi. Budla machi path is much difficult. Need more energy & dare to cross mountain ridge with rail or some places without rail support. So think before go there. On the way to Budla machi you will spot Konkan Darwaza here after steep descend will get you to Budla machi and same path will lead to Rajgad fort trek. So Budla machi total circuit will be min 2 hrs trek from entrance. Get your own water also you can find many nearby villagers sell mineral water and lemon juice & some snack. About food you can at only one place Mangai temple only on weekends. So better get some food. Recently Pune DC banned night camping on Torna fort but you can trek to Rajgad and there you can camp. Finally I recommend Torna fort is worth to visit and most enjoyable trek with friends.

Good Time Spent With Freinds. Too Much Que While Going At Zunjarmachi. Crowd is More As Compared To Other Times. Best Place ✌️

It is one of the best natural fortresses & also most amazing treks in India. It is very challenging and not easy for beginners. This trek is absolutely astonishing and full of fantastic sceneries, specially in monsoon season. But monsoon also makes it more difficult due to heavy wind and rain. However, I recommend to do this trek in monsoon.

It was one of the most adventurous treks I've ever had. Firstly you have to wear shoes with a good grip to climb. Also visit the best point 'Zunjar Machi' of the fort. You really have to give a 'zunjar' to reach there as it is the most thrilling part of the trek. Normally 3 hours is more than enough to complete the trek. Also be aware of the monkeys on top. The scenery there is really awesome. If you are visiting in the rainy season, be safe. A must visit fort!!

The Torna Fort was my one of the memorable trekking experiences. You can say it a little bit easy and somewhere hard in the rainy season. This place has nothing to see like a fort, but trust me, it gives nature's scenamatic view and unbelievable experience than any other fort you've seen before. Please be careful for adults of 40 or above as it is very slippery when trekking.

As of April 1st, 2023, Torna was closed from one side of the main trek from Velhe village. However, we discovered from locals that there is another trek to the fort from the backside. The road up to there is average compared to the fort roads, which are all bumpy, but I have seen worse. Actually, it's superb; just the last 1-2 km is a bumpy road. At the base, you will find a single shop and paid parking. As of the date, parking was 50 rs for a four-wheeler (I'm not sure about two-wheelers). The shop had great breakfast with not many options, obviously poha and tea as usual. The taste was great. You will find 3-4 shops on the trek. I recommend getting lime juice as and when possible to stay hydrated and save water for the top. The trek takes about 1.5-2 hours, but the area to explore on the top is comparatively larger. It took us 4 hours to explore a single side of the fort, i.e., Zhunjar Machi. The trek was medium to high difficulty as the soil was loose and there was no grip between the land and shoe. We have a portion aided by a steel rope. It takes a lot of time as only one person at a time can use it, and it makes it difficult for two people to use it at the same time if tried. The best and hardest part is the descent towards Zhunjar Machi. You don't have many options for food at the summit. We had some bhel, and that's it. There is a temple at the summit where you can rest a bit. Overall, the trek is fun, and the view and sense of achievement are better than other forts around it, like Rajgad and Sinhgad. Also, there are aggressive monkeys, and we had an incident with them too, so be careful and don't keep anything in the side pocket of the backpack; they mostly get attracted to it. All the best, and enjoy your day. You won't regret the trek to Torna. P.s- also posted some pictures for your reference.

Nestled in the lush greenery of Maharashtra, this formidable fortress unfolds a captivating panorama that resonates with the echoes of a bygone era. Nice place for trekking. 6 to 7 hours are required for complete trekking. Zunzar machi and budhala machi are very difficult to trekk. Place is very neat and clean. No hotels and snacks are available on fort. You have to carry the food you required. Water bottle, buttermilk and lemon water is available. There are monkeys on fort so food material should be kept carefully. The atmosphere is very pleasant. Lunch and dinner is available in velhe.

Trekking to the top of Highest hill fort in Pune District is really tough and challenging and at the same time enjoying through the forest with dam view at back will give you never forget moments. Specially recommended just after/during last phase of monsoon. In winter also you can visit but greenery around the fort will shed its vibrant color by December. Take your vehicle to last where the riad ends.

The views from midway of the hike to the fort from where one can see the dam and the civilisation on a misty and rainy September afternoon was nothing short of mesmerising. The hike from the village starts on road- can car and bike upto a point, and after that the trail starts with slippery mud, beautiful pink/violet/lilac flowers welcoming you all along the way. From the first plateau, the view is just stunning- can spend a whole day just starting at nature’s beauty. Trek further up and it gets steeper and steeper and support structures gets available where needed. The top of the fort also can get good views.

Trekking to this fort is worth. Level of this trek is moderate. fyi if you visit in rainy season then there would be fog all around once you reach top. I personally didn’t like that because I wanted to see fort boundaries. But it’s personal choice. I went to the top at 5pm but mostly on weekends these forts are crowed.

Recently done Torana Trek. We reached Velhe village around 6 AM. After reaching there we came to know that route was closed due to work near Bini Darwaja. So trekking was not allowed. We then taken turn towards Metpilaware village and climbed from Konkan Darwaja (Rajgad facing side). It was tough but short route. Very slippery but with good trekking gear (mainly shoes) you can do this. Take breaks and carry enough water.

Torna fort is about 70km from Pune city and 10km from Rajgad fort. The Maharashtra government is taking care of maintenance. I have visited Torna recently and the trekking experience is really good... At some point the beginner finds it difficult especially zunzar machi. But overall we can feel How Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj captured this fort at the age of 16. This is the first fort Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Captured and Named it Prachand Gad. Swarajya Che Toran Torna 🙏🙏 Try to reach there early in the morning. You have to pay 15rs for bike parking. The road is not bad...but 5-6 km we have to travel on the road which feels like an off-road experience. Also request to read history before visiting this fort.🙏

About 2 hrs drive from Pune . Best timings for climb up is around 7-9 am. It takes around 1-2 hours to climb depending on one's pace . The climb gets steep towards the end and at the start. Railing and ropes are put for help. Rainy season it gets very slippery. Two darwaza to enter. It has nothing on fort top apart from some scenic views ! Parking available at base at nominal charges from ₹20-₹50.
