What a fun experience! A few tips for your first visit: 1. Get on the wait list ASAP! Even though the website said they weren't busy, they were packed and we waited over 30 minutes. 2. There's a parking lot right next door where you pay $1/hour. Not a bad fee, although we got lucky finding someone leaving that paid for the day. 3. They have food and drinks available, but close down the kitchen from 2-3. We opted for the 2 for $5 cookie deal and they were the best cookies we'd EVER had! 4. There's so many board games to choose from, check out the list on their website ahead of time and do some research. 5. They have a great system of getting help with drinks, ordering food or games right at the table. Ask anyone, they are very helpful! 6. You pay $5/person to play the games, but children under 12 are free. They do discounts based on food or drink purchases though, so that helps. 7. Check their website for deal days when game fees are waived. Think fun girls night or date night with friends. 8. For a family of four we spent $30 with tip for 2.5 hours of games and 4 large cookies. We are already planning our next trip!

Great for families! Excellent Menu/ Service and entertainment. So many different options for games. We played a couple of different games with the kids. They made some suggestions to help get us started.

Fun, inviting environment that's perfect for meeting up with friends. And the food was pretty good too!

I’d never heard of this place but what a cool vibe for people. The walls of games, good food and drinks are a steal. You are charged a $5 library fee which covers your use of game lay. For every food/drink you order, $1 is deducted from the library fee. All of the food is under $15 so therefore your bill will be reasonable. It is loud but not “bar” loud. It’s a lot of loud outbursts from game play. I cannot wait to go back. Also they offer a brunch with bottomless mimosas.

The food was tasty and so were the drinks. I loved the game library. They had a good selection of games to choose from. Staff was friendly and helpful with figuring out game directions. The waiters we always very attentive when the colored sticks are put in the air. It's a great way to to be to focus on the game, when you need something just put one, two, or all three colored sticks in the air to indicate what you need. The waiter that took our order made great suggestions and gave a great review/description on the beyond sausage. It was very tasty.

What an amazing find. Found out about Pieces last minute before taking our trip, and it will become a staple for our trips to St. Louis. Went during happy hour, sat right down, and had a blast. Kids loved it as well. Food was great.

Food was good. Had a breakfast burrito with sausage mushrooms potatoes and eggs. Cinnamon rolls are great. Kids love selection of games! Great for the whole family. They also have trivia nights with drink specials. Right next to the Darkness in the heart of Soulard. Great spot to hit before Cards game or after a stroll through the market. Give it a shot, you'll be back.

We really like going to Pieces. It's a lot of fun. They have so.e really fun funky drinks. The food is good. And they have over 1,200 games. We also start out playing something we have never played. This time it was Pandemic. It's a game you win or lose as a team. We lost, but it was fun and took some thinking.

Absolutely adore this place. There are so many games to choose from. If they don't have a game you want to play l, they take suggestions! My group found a new game to play, and we are obsessed!

We went for a party. They had rented a private room. It was so much fun. The food was great. I highly recommend trying the onion dip and spicy noodles. What I didn’t like is we had 4 different servers in the 3 hours we were there. Tickets were messed up and unorganized. I would go back but if people are paying to reserve the room, I do feel the service needed to be better.

Pieces Board Game Bar and Grill was a real treat and one I want to visit again soon. Fun and fantastic food, games, and atmosphere. When we went last night we were the first ones to try their newer flag system (literally brought them out and swapped them on tables while we were there). It is a little easier to understand than the old one. The flag system is great because it helps those working from interrupting your games. The concept is intriguing to say the least. When you come, there is a $5 “library fee” per person. It decreases by $1 for each food or drink item you buy. When you are ready to order you raise up the appropriate (blue) flag. If you need any help with games, you raise the red flag. When you are finished playing, eating, and drinking then you raise the yellow flag for your check. There are countless games from a wide range of genres that works for everyone including solo, two-player, family-friendly, and large group games. Even though alcohol is served, families with even young children should feel comfortable here. We went with friends familiar with the place, but it was our first time and I am excited to go back again soon.

Amazing place. There are tons and tons of board games. They have an item on the table that you flip up if you need something. Very fun for all ages. Had a cleaning station as well.

Brilliant! Super busy, but it's so efficient and organized it feels super chill. The food and drinks are excellent. Vast selection of games and the service is friendly and prompt. I thought it would be a lot more chaotic, but I was very relaxed and we really enjoyed ourselves!

Fun experience! Huge library of games to choose from. Games are color coded on complexity. They have staff picks set out and also have a Two-player section. There's a $5/person library fee, but each menu item ordered takes $1 off that fee. Excellent service - they utilize a flag system for ordering and game help. Staff are very responsive to the flags. Food is delicious!! Would definitely recommend

Nice food and a great place to hang out. Many people just along boardgames and having a nice time. Not sure If I would bring my kids here but that's because I don't want to bother everyone else with my kids. Prices are reasonable

For a person who LOVES to play games of all kinds… this place is AMAZING! They showed us around for our first time and explained how everything worked. They had party games, the classics, and games that range from simple instructions to complex. It was so nice to just sit, drink, and eat on some yummy cookies/sliders while just being with friends playing new games. I wish I had one of these close to home, but now I have a new game to get my hands on and play with my family and students. 🤍 There is a $5 fee to help with the maintenance of games, which is 100% fair. 👏🏼

Still in shock by the awesomeness of this establishment. Honestly, might be the best restaurant I’ve ever been to. But it’s more than a restaurant. The food menu alone was amazing with light healthy options and some more pub like stuff. Then you add the whole experience of board games, super creative drink menu, and DONUTS. Incredible helpful staff who care about the customer experience. This is 100% a 5 star.

Off to a shaky start, but I was generally so pleased with my visit to Pieces. I was exploring Soulard on foot, and went in looking for a restroom before I ate. I have to say that the restroom was messy, cleaning supplies everywhere, a strong odor, water on the floors and around the toilets, and the stickiest floors imaginable. At that point I did almost turn around and leave. I went inside the restaurant itself. There was no one at the door and no indication of whether I should seat myself. I had a seat at an empty table...and sat there for some time. No one came with water or a menu or anything, though servers were coming and going. Finally I noticed this little...canister in the middle of the table with three different colored flags, one to signal you wanted food, so I put that up. This brought a server right to my table, and they said, "Are you joining the party back there?" and gestured to a full table. I said, "...No?" They said, "Have you been here before?" No. "Was there someone at the door to tell you how things worked?" Again I said no. "Okay, what can I get for you?" I was like, "...A menu?" Then another server brought me water before that person returned with a menu and water. I was like, "Okay, is this the first puzzle?" 😅 Anyway. I ordered an Edith Grey tea and the Midwest Poke Bowl. I appreciate the numerous veggie options. I asked the server about one-person games and several were suggested and explained well. I picked one out to try, then noticed my phone was dying and spent some time finding the power bank and cords in my bag. The poke bowl came out before I'd gotten through the instructions, which was fine. It was delicious, even with tofu in place of fish. Lime was really unexpected and very tasty. At about this time I started noticing some coordination issues, and my activity tracker buzzed to let me know my heart rate was high. I've had some issues with vertigo that have been exacerbated this week, so I took meclizine I'd brought with me, but it was only getting worse. I ordered an Uber and my phone DIED right as I confirmed it! The staff were wonderful in helping my dizzy, frustrated self find a place to charge my phone and trying to help me stay calm. I was upset to have to leave so suddenly, but what I was able to eat of the poke bowl was delicious, and I hope to return another time.

Love this place!! The concept is so cool and it was so enjoyable getting to play board games with friends and drinks. The prices were a bit high and some of the games were a little dirty, but overall I love the idea and the atmosphere. The staff was careful to disinfect each game after use which made me feel better. Drinks were good and we loved the game-themed menu. Spinach artichoke dip was the perfect snack to have during our visit. We were visiting from out of town but I would totally hang out here often!

First visit and the food was delicious. Very cool ordering solution to get perfect service when you need drinks, food, the check or help with a game. And by the way, they have an amazing number of games to take to your table and play before, during or after a meal. And on Wednesday nights, they start trivia in the restaurant. Will be back!

Really neat place, a ton of games of every type! Kitchen doesn't open until 3pm when I went on Sunday, but the food was very good! Veggie and vegan options available. Good tasting specialty drinks (alcoholic and non!). Great social place a for a few hours of fun!

This place is amazing! Great food and a HUGE library of board games...what a great idea! We stayed for a while and played several games. So many to choose from! And the staff was amazing...helping us understand rules, game play, and strategy for the ones we needed help with. And on top of that, the food was really good! We tried the giant pretzel (and yes, it's giant!), nachos, BBQ sliders, and the pizzadilla (yep, a pizza quesadilla). Everything was good. The pretzel was INCREDIBLE. We had an unbelievable time and will definitely be back.

Really great place to enjoy family or friends and some good food and drinks to go along with quite literally EVERY board game you can imagine at your fingertips. The ONLY reason they didn't get 5 stars is because they have a fee of $5 PER PERSON just to sit down. I understand they don't want someone coming in and loafing all day playing games, but if we're ordering cocktails and food, it should be waived entirely.

Such an awesome cafe. Family friendly with games for kids of all ages, but also is open late for more adult gaming experiences. They have a bar on one side and gaming room on the other. Servers come when requested using a pretty neat system. Food was on the pricey side but delicious.

Drinks and board/card games? This place is awesome!!! Themed drinks and dishes are a really cool little feature, loved the Boba Feta Sandwich and the Nuka Cola cocktail is phenomenal. There's a great variety of games to choose from at a low flat rate that can be diminished by each food/drink item you order. Staff here is incredibly helpful and friendly, would highly recommend trying Pieces at least once.

Had a private room for the family, and the $45 fee was worth the privacy and noise reduction. Mimosas could be a little stronger (no one needs that much OJ) but they said they’d had problems with guests getting a little rowdy so I could understand. Breakfast slinger was huge, with plenty of sausage, egg, gravy, and hash browns in just the right proportions. Games were well kept and clean, with our server providing a brief tutorial on ones we didn’t know.

This was sooo fun! Can't believe it took us so long to finally visit. The selection is incredible and servers are top notch friendly and helpful. I believe it was Lee who helped us with some recommendations and we loved the one we ended up playing. Definitely plan to come back and maybe even have my next birthday there.

I went to Pieces for their board game meeting on Wednesday. We stayed pretty late and staff checking on us very frequently for drink re-fills and to bring food. They offer free water and food and drink menu with serving staff as desired. The atmosphere was decorated with class board games. They do have some board games available to play; however for meet ups usually people bring their own to play.

I was there for their game night on Wednesday and it was fun. We had like 2-3 groups of people who were very much involved in their game and they were in middle of their game and we couldn’t join them. So we played some small arcade games for some time and had some food. They have a decent vintage game collection apart from their modern board games. It was a fun nostalgic day with the old games.

First time here with friends and 100% recommend for geeks and nerds who love fun board games. They have an AMAZING selection of games that will take you back to your childhood. Drinks and food are absolutely PHENOMENAL. Staff are friendly and fun to talk to. The incorporation of a bar with board games is such a genius idea. Will definitely come back again. Thanks for the amazing time. Everyone in the party had a blast especially the birthday girl.

Pieces is a fun and unique concept! They have a massive collection of +1000 board games that can be played with friends while you enjoy a meal or some drinks. It’s a kid friendly cafe, but it also cater to adults. I’ve been in with a couple friends to have a causal board game night over a couple beers, and I’ve also come out for a board game meet up with strangers. It’s always a fun time, and it’s a great way to play some games you’ve never seen or don’t have enough people to play at home. Pro tip: order a couple drinks and food, and it’ll reduce the library fee by $1 per menu item. They also have trivia on Wednesdays from 7-9 Happy hour Wednesday- Friday from 4-6!!! Great time to take advantage of the $1 off library fee per order item. 😉

A very innovative concept and an absolute thrill if you're a big group, a couple, or even alone (yes they have one game that lets you play all alone) wanting to do something out of the box, quite literally! We would recommend the play area, but not the food. We called for the Midwest Poke Bowl and were so sick after. Don't know what's in the dish, but I threw up right after I got home and my husband had a bad stomach ache leading to diarrhea. In all fairness, it's just one dish we tried, but given how sick we were we'd much rather have fun minus the food. Summing up, Pieces is a wonderful place to be when you want to stay indoors, have a crazy time, learn more about board games, and find new friends (perhaps). They have over a 1000 games stocked and the staff is very friendly and will attend to you if you happen to find yourself stuck. We love their selection and would definitely go back to play more games!
