Great spot for brunch with very friendly customer service and plentiful food. Even the owner came to greet us and ask how the food was. Only slight downer was food quality but overall I think it’s money well spent on plentiful food. Would definitely return!

Update: We’ve been back a few times, and Mawa has listened to every piece of advice given, improving each visit. They’ve just added a slew more options for dinner, but I’m still in love with breakfast. The fancy cakes never disappoint and the funnel cakes are decadent. . This is actually our second time here. The first time didn't go so well, but this second trip was definitely an improvement. This time around we had the shrimp and grits, as well as the french toast breakfast platter. I must say the french toast was delicious, but the shrimp and grits stole the show. We also had waffles which was also good, they remind me of funnel cakes, so I never need syrup. Just FYI if you like your syrup thick and not thin, you may want to bring some with you. There are flies outside, but no more than anywhere else and thankfully when our drink fell due to a shaky table, they replaced them for us. We will be back to continue to try the menu. The only thing I wish they had were mimosas lol

The food was delicious and very much like you might find in an upscale diner in any major US city. Breakfast is highly recommended. Prices are not cheap but portions are large and the atmosphere is very welcoming. Opens at 9:00AM on weekdays despite what it says on the menu or on Google Maps.

First impressions, really good, nice quiet neighbourhood, sitting outside though was annoying initially, with flies and mosquitoes, but the staff is very attentive and observant. Saw us shooing flies and scratching on mosquitoes bites, there was a fan set up for the flies and a mosquito repellent under the table. Waiting time on the food was about 10mins give or take. Totally scrumptious!! But the fight with flies intensified realllly intensified, you need to have a fan over you at all time (not on rotation) but for the sake of other customers we couldn't request that of course. The flies were the only let down, due to which we had to rush our eating, which I really didn't like. Overall, its a must visit with grrrrreat tasting breakfast and friendly staff.

Oh man I loved this place! I was kinda struggling when it came to finding a properly breakfast place, but then I ran into Mawa's. Having been located in the exotic Almadies neighborhood, Mawa's give you a feeling home. The yard is just so relaxing with cool decorations and it makes you feel quite fresh to chill under the tall trees. I have been here twice and I had breakfast either times. Breakfast combos are very filling and you dont feel hungry for the rest of the day. If you are a non-French speaker like me, it will be very nice to meet English speaking staff. Check out this place if you crave some decent food and tasty American breakfast! Huge portions and free refills coffee!

Coming from the States, Mawa's is a welcomed reminder of home. A large selection of American/Southern breakfast, brunch, and dinner items on the menu, done well, and at reasonable prices. Servers are attentive, and speak some English. Air-conditioned seating indoors, and covered patio outdoors. It gets busy on the weekends around lunch. Cash only.

We waited 2 HOURS for our food. Granted we came at a busy time (Sunday at noon). However, we didn’t even get our drinks or water to at least have something while we waited. Some toast for the kids perhaps? Anything. No one checked on us to give an ETA or apologize (meanwhile at a table right next to us, a lady and her family threatened to leave after a 20 mins wait and the staff was scrambling to remedy the situation) . I am a fan of soul food because I grew up mostly in the US but my last experience with the orders was not the best. I was with two other guests we all put in our order but my order tardiez to arrive and when I asked the waiter they insisted I didn’t put it in. When it did come, after 40 minutes, my shrimp and grits was full of maggi sprinkled on top and bacon (which I don’t eat). The staff is warm and welcoming but they need to pay best attention to details when taking orders.
