A great place, if not the best in Dakar, for focus working, learning or just chilling… I’ve experienced teamwork and meetings in two Layu places and it went so smoothly and well that you feel like you are in a company meeting room (but more cozy) or a library. Keep it in mind next time you want some “me time” to work on a project (by yourself or with a team) or just to focus learn. I luv it every single time.

I was wowed to see the set up in Layu cafe. You can just walk in, get a cup of coffee and work from in there. I was more impressed to see so many books inside the cafe, bought one instantly and sat there to read. The space in Layu is just the best. It's has all these nice corners for privacy and it's big!

There used to be a time when Layu was the place to be in Dakar. Alas, it has stagnated and even regressed. Parking is complicated, even in off peak hours, the food is overpriced and of generally poor quality. And the 1500 espresso drinks from the automatic machine just taste like mud. It’s sad to see what was once a an exciting and full of hope place reduce its own expectations. Oh and don’t buy the 2000 FCFA bottle of eau perrier. A full bottle costs almost 1/2 the price at the store. What is Layu about anymore? An expensive concept store where you’re supposed to go and drop your money? Are you inconvenienced by having started with food options and now you cannot get rid of it? If food is no longer your thing just get rid of it, but at least please try to serve decent coffee! Désolé Layu, but I have had it. You won’t see me again. Not when there are plenty of other options in Dakar I won’t name them but a google search should help users).
