DANGEROUS & UNSAFE!!! During my stay of 6 days, 3 backpackers were mugged and lost their phones, two of them were mugged by the police. I fully paid the first day but because it wasn't recorded in the books, they claimed I didn't pay, ruffed me up by the bouncer who threatened my life. It's in a terrible neighborhood that's a 1-2 hour walk from any beaches or anything to see, in a dustbowl that's an absolute nightmare to anyone with allergies or who cares about their respiratory health. Spend $5 more / night and stay in Ngor beach.

Lovely and cheap place considering the service provided. Front desk people can do better. Housekeeping ladies can be loud in the hallway but it's the family house living experience may be worth it.

So I was traveling with two other backpackers, when we arrived at the hotel they said we needed to rent two rooms because there were three of us even though they told us over the phone that three people in one room would be ok, I would not care too much about that but after paying for two rooms they also would not let us hang out in one room too plan for our next day of traveling even after we explained that we all were not planning on sleeping in the same room but that we just needed to discuss our plans. Further more their sign says you have between 11:00 and 12:00 too check out but at 11:30 they made us leave the room, it also smells like mildew and they behave very unprofessional, I’ve stayed in hostels for 5 U.S. dollars a night that were nicer and more professional then this place, do not come to this hotel, there are much better options in Dakar Senegal, we only stayed here because we arrived late in the night and it was the only close hotel that had an available room to sleep in.

The hostel was clean and cheap, though rooms and bathrooms look a bit shabby which is normal for that price class in Africa, I guess. The lights in the bathroom weren't really working, it's been rather a shower in the dark. The boss was pretty inappropriate in some moments towards us two girls travelling together. He also got mad when we chose to hang out in other places around than the hostel - as if we weren't free people to go and do whatever we like. Also communication was an issue at most times which turned into a bit of a rip-off for trips. There is wifi but the connection is not very stable. Other than that: staff besides the boss were very friendly. For better and genuine information go two doors further to the restaurant "La Virgule", the owner Mady speaks brilliant English and is a trustworthy person willing to help whereever he can giving adequate information.
