Don't waste your time or money. It is no longer family friendly. No tables, no kitchen, no staff, just bar tenders. The food is gross. 1st I got an under cooked hamburger. 2nd I got dried pulled pork. You get your food from warming trays. No tables. My kids sat on whiskey barrels. This was the only family place to eat at in the fair and the turned it into a bar. My family has been coming for 40 years. I WILL NOT BE BACK!!!!!

The management has changed hands and it is no longer a family friendly resbit from the hustle and bustle of the State Fair. All the tables and chairs have been removed. The food is low quality and " artisan", or some attempt at it. I paid $65 for two sandwiches, two chicken fingers baskets, a hot dog and five bottled drinks (the despenser and cups are gone). No extras no sides. The staff was friendly and polite, but all new as far as I could tell. The ONLY good restaurant inside the fair grounds is gone. I will not be back untill the it goes back to the way it was.

Went to this restaurant only because there were no other choices near the convention I was attending. While it is inarguably charming on the exterior, with a water wheel, little bridge, and patio seating, the interior leaves more to be desired. It's not terrible, just you can tell it's been a long while since it was updated. The layout is also odd and the food, while acceptable, was nothing to write home about. The prices were in line with what you'd expect, $7-8 for a sandwich. There was very little hot food offered, mostly cold sandwiches, which was a little disappointing.

A Dallas icon. Head to the bar where Bobby Darin treated Pamela Tiffin to a Coke in the 1962 classic Rodgers and Hammerstein musical film, "State Fair". The food is only good by Fair standards, but the atmosphere is wonderfully historical.

I came here with two other people to have a semi- healthy lunch before we enjoyed the day at the state fair. This place definitely reminded me of an old fashioned dinner hall, which I liked! As for the food I got the mesquite grilled chicken, mashed potatoes, and coleslaw, and it was all very good and satisfying. My only complaint was that the price was kind of high. I understand that fair prices are usually very high, but I still feel like the price was too much at 16 dollars for my ensemble.

We planned to eat here after visiting the Texas Discovery Gardens because of it's close proximity. I called ahead since we planned on a large group. They were very accommodating, and reserved tables for us which were set in a charming manner. The food was good and fresh. Prices are like fast food, but the quality is a step above. It's a cool, casual, historic place. We enjoyed it.

Surprisingly decent food. Got the Mushroom Swiss burger with fries and it was awesome. I wish the bun was toasted but the amount of mushrooms was great. The food also came out super fast! By the time I got my drink and sat down it was within the minute that the food came out. Probably the best thing is that all of the veggies and condiments came on a side plate.

Family/kid friendly but also a nice bar area with tables if you are in for a meal! A few TVs for those game days!! PERFECT for when you go to the Texas State Fair! It gives you a break from the hot/cold/rainy crowded day out there ... they accept COUPONS, CASH, and DEBIT/CREDIT cards!! So there's no need to make a whole line to but an extra coupon. A great way to spend the coupons you have left and pay just the extra cash/card!! WAY CHEAPER than anything out there... tasty and award winning food as well! Yum!!!! It's a historic building that has an interesting history that you can ask about and see the pictures they still have at the stair way! Super friendly staff!! It's always a must stop for us when we go to the fair!
