Food was delicious! All BBQ is over priced in my opinion. It usually all tastes the same to me. Pecan lodge was a bit different. The flavors were a great surprise. I’d expect better seating options for the price range. I would not have a chair in this condition in my dining room. Everything else was great. Staff was super friendly and on point!

This is the real deal of Texas BBQ experiences... The fact there is a line around the restaurant even at 11:30am tells you it's going to be good, and it was. We each had the 3 meat plates and added a beef rib to share. The meats on offer are Turkey, Pulled Pork, Brisket, Pork Ribs, Sausage Link, and Beef Rib. The beef rib is by weight, and a single rib is about 1lb in weight at $35/lb. It was all delicious. We went for coleslaw as our sides and the plates come with pickled gherkins. Soda is self-serve. You get a table after you have paid, then collect your food from the kitchen service hatch when your order number is called. It was a great experience, and the meat was divine. A Vegetarians and Vegans worst nightmare but heaven for us carnivores. Would love to visit again. All meat is smoked in the on-site smoke house.

Previously an Old town favorite. After doing some regional BBQ tasting recon, returned unimpressed w/ how dry the brisket was. Sides were good. Ribs were awesome. Fried ribs, not so much. Overall, I left with a sense of complacency, that they are content on pumping out meats compared to tender love and care as before. Still a good Q. Gotta try the sausage. Service is amazing . Must try in the area.

We absolutely loved this place!! The vibe was rustic and cool. The staff was friendly and clear in their questions. The food was outstanding! We recommend the pulled pork sandwich, the pork ribs, and the brisket. The Mac n cheese comes with bacon but was nothing special and the coleslaw was awesome with a little heat! We will definitely return!!

Hands down one of the best BBQ pits in Dallas. While the brisket was good. The beef ribs are probably the best beef I have ever had. And at $35 per pound you say WOW!!!!!!! The rib I had was 1.5 pounds. Yeah that’s like $53. It was WORTH every penny. My number one rule on any BBQ is “if I have to sauce it. I have to toss it.” This rib is better than any ribeye I have ever had.

We really enjoyed our first visit to Pecan Lodge! I had the turkey, and it was super tender and delicious. The fried okra was perfect, and we also really enjoyed the Mac and cheese as well. Everything that we had to eat was so good! My only complaint was that there was no sweet tea, but it was easy for me to overlook based on the rest of our experience. We will absolutely be back!

We had heard and read the hype about the Pecan Lodge so when we came to Dallas from Ohio, this was on our must see list. We were also aware there could be a wait and maybe food would run out before we got inside. Luckily, we walked right in, ordered and got our food very fast. It was delicious! I didn't even need bbq sauce for the pulled pork it was that good! The potato salad was the best I've ever had. My husband had the sausage and brisket which was also amazing! the mac n cheese was so good and had a little kick to it. I'm a little picky on lemonade because it can be too tart for me. Their lemonade are was perfect!! Thank you for the experience and the amazing food and service.

Love this place, the food is so good and worth the price! There portions are pretty good size! I usually get 3 meat plate and it’s enough for 2 meals. My favorites are the pork ribs and brisket (the meat is so tender)with Mac and cheese( they add bacon on top) and potato salad (has mustard and dill in it) they serve pickles and onions with every plate which I fell in love once I tried this. The staff are friendly and will give u extra sauces to take home as well! Overall great place for some good bbq!

Since Terry Black and Pecan Lodge are so close and they are both popular with high review scores, I decided to order from both places and compare them side by side. Brisket: about the same. However Terry Black will ask for your preferred cut of meat (lean/fatty). Ribs: I like Terry Black more but that's a personal reference. They are both tender and well seasoned but Terry Black probably used more brown sugar which makes their ribs a little sweeter compared to Pecan Lodge. Also Terry Black's ribs are "meatier". Regular Sausage: Pecan Lodge is a win. Sausage at Terry Black tastes very plain compared to the sausage at Pecan Lodge, which has a smoky and black peppery flavor. Sauce: TB didn't give me any sauce (I ordered to go). So I couldn't compare but I don't like the runny sauce at Pecan Lodge. Price: Terry Black is a little expensive. Specials: Fried rib at Pecan Lodge is something you probably don't want to miss if you like fried food. Conclusion: if you like your ribs sweeter or want your food fast, go to Terry Black. If you want to save some money or want to binge on hot links, and don't mind waiting for 20 minutes in line, Pecan Lodge is the place for you.

One of the best BBQ places I've ever tried. Perfect texture and flavor balance. Prices are accessible and service is pretty fast and good. We've heard this place gets pretty busy on weekends, but we went on Thursday and it was alone. To eat, we got the 3 meat combo, with pulled pork, brisket and beef ribs, and as a side we got the fried okra that was perfectly cooked, crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. On the other hand we ordered a jalapeno sausage that was very flavorful. Finally we had the "Hot Mess" which is a baked sweet potato with barbacoa, cheese and sauces, it was extremely good too. 10/10 highly recommended.

Decent bbq spot in a really lively neighborhood with outdoor seating and sometimes a live band preforming. You walk in and order, I came when there was no line but as soon as I sat down the line was out the door. I ended up getting a combo 2 meat plate with one side and then getting 2 pint sides. The sides were huge, it’s if one or two people you can definitely get away with a single serving. A pint is for 4 people easily. Plenty of tables around and they call you when your food is ready. You go pick it up and it’s no frills at all. The BBQ itself was really really really tender and the Mac had delicious flavor.

Came last night for dinner. As usual, the meat were soft and rich, very flavorful. Don’t have to drive to Austin for the BBQs. We got a great one here. I especially loved their sausage, best one I’ve had. Sides were good too, wished there was cream corn here though.

Really top notch BBQ! The sandwich pictured is the pit master with mac and cheese. The 3 meat plate was pork rib, smoked jalapeno and cheddar sausage, and brisket. All of it was amazing. I will say that the sausage really stood out but everything was juicy, tender, and delicious. Also the Mac and cheese is a must! Next time I'm in Dallas, I will be back!

I liked the crust on the brisket. The pork ribs were very well done as well. The sausage was pretty good. Pickles were strangely good. Mac and cheese was all right. Interesting soda selections. The bbq sauce was quite good although it clumped in the squeeze bottle and I ended up marinating myself in it.

Everything was delicious. We visited on a Wednesday morning, not crowded at all. Everything was tender and juicy. Great smoke flavor. The potato was my favorite side. Peach cobbler was really good as well. Highly recommend coming here with your friends and getting a little bit of everything.

It's practically impossible to travel through Dallas without stopping somewhere for barbecue, and this will probably be the best barbecue you've ever had, as long as you don't live in Texas. Regardless of whether you're "into" BBQ, you're probably still semi-aware of the huge barbecue competitions between the Southern states, with each having specialties for sauces, or lack of sauces, and meats. Within Texas, the competition is also heavy, with decent chain BBQ served at gas stations, fast food joints, and in backyards, so ordering BBQ in Texas is like ordering Sushi in Japan (it's even in vending machines). Texas's specialty is beef brisket, so you can probably guess what I ordered. For those of readers that might be familiar with Tennessee Style cafeteria service, this is very similar service, without actually having to stand around and watch what they heap on your plate. The reason you don't have to watch is because of one huge variation in service style. In Tennessee you get a "meat and two," or a "meat and three," which denotes the selection of one protein and a number of sides. The result is they you follow your tray down line and pick from mashed potatoes, corn, baked beans, etc. Here is "two meats and a side," or "three meats and a side," meaning that when you order, your plate disappears to the back of the house and reappears when it's ready. In addition to brisket, I ordered turkey, which is notoriously dry, and a great BBQ challenge. Unfortunately, the turkey wasn't anything to write home to Mom about, so it's a good thing that that's not the main event. Before I get to describing the mouth watering, melt in your mouth, perfectly seasoned brisket that was delivered as a part of my order (totally blew that suspense), I should talk about the price. If you're actually going to sit down and go for some serious BBQ, be prepared to pay top dollar. The combo plus the drink cost a whopping $31 plus tip. The service was friendly, the food was delivered quickly, and my only real complaint is that the Mac and Cheese under performed, it was mushy and a bit bland. Overall, if you're looking for great BBQ, this place has it, but as previously mentioned, this is Texas, so a lot of other places have it as well.

Just ok.. very nice staff! I was disappointed in the food. Brisket was dry, ribs just ok, mac and cheese was cold, collard greens were room temperature.. This used to be the best. I'm not sure what happened. The bartender was really nice.

I think we just found heaven! Worth the wait! Perfect smoke, spice and atmosphere! Them deep fried ribs were outta this world! Go early if you want to have full selection of the menu, the ribs sell out about 6:00. But there's so much to drool over🤤.

The service was quick, and the atmosphere is what you would expect from a well-known BBQ spot. My only issue was that half of my burnt ends were fat, and the brisket was on the salty side. The meat was tender, and I can tell they know how to smoke their meat. I just didn't get what I thought I was going to get. Price for half pound brisket 2 slices and half a pound burnt ends 4 pieces with tax was over $35. I almost forgot that parking is hard to find, so be ready to drive around looking for an open spot that you will have to pay unless you get lucky and find a free spot.

Our visit to Pecan Lodge was a flavourful adventure through the world of barbecue, but a few hiccups kept it just shy of perfection. Let's begin with the highlights—the brisket, though mostly spectacular, had a few dry patches that left us yearning for a bit more moisture. While the majority of the meat was succulent and delicious, the inconsistency was a minor setback. The southern fried chicken was another revelation. Crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and bursting with flavour, it was a delightful twist on traditional BBQ fare. The homemade sausage was a game-changer; its robust, spicy kick made it clear that Pecan Lodge doesn't settle for anything less than exceptional. The pork ribs were a true testament to the artistry of low-and-slow smoking. Tender, with a beautiful smoke ring and a glaze that added just the right touch of sweetness, they were nothing short of perfection. And then there were the smokehouse nachos—a creative and delicious departure from the typical BBQ sides. Loaded with smoky goodness, cheese, and all the right toppings, they were an unexpected delight. The atmosphere at Pecan Lodge was as inviting as ever, with the enticing scent of barbecue permeating the air. The staff's enthusiasm and knowledge contributed positively to our overall experience, even though we encountered a small hiccup with the brisket. In summary, Pecan Lodge is a BBQ gem, but the dry patches in the brisket kept us from awarding a perfect rating. If the consistency of the brisket can match the excellence found in the rest of the menu, this place would undoubtedly be a five-star destination. Nonetheless, it's still a must-visit for any barbecue enthusiast looking to indulge in a smoky, savoury feast.

Great Texas barbecue. Hands down the most flavorful and tender giant beef rib I had around town. Brisket was also quite good but was a bit drier than my favorite brisket in town, still worthwhile. You order your meats, sides, desserts, and soft drinks at a counter, and they do have beers you can order from the bar. Definitely worth a stop when in town!
