Beautiful Museum filled with art from all over the world. I am absolutely in love with all the art. The staff is so wonderful and helpful. Here’s a few things you should know. You are allowed to carry a backpack, BUT you have to carry it by hand, you cannot put it on your back. You are allowed to take pictures, but I think flash photography isn’t encouraged (I am not one hundred percent sure about this). ADMISSION IS FREE. That’s the best part in my opinion 😁. I absolutely loved going to this museum. I went in a field trip with my class to see the Octavio Medellin exhibition. It was a great experience and I highly recommend it.

The Dallas Museum of Art was an excellent experience. Along with everyone else, I’m shocked it was free. We attended on a Friday evening when metered parking was free and found a place near an entrance. They do want you to reserve a ticket online ahead, which is very quick and easy to do. We spent 2.5 hours here and could’ve used a little longer. It’s much bigger than you expect. Four floors but each floor goes room after room after room of art. On the upper floors, there’s a lot of furniture, sculptures and dining ware that are interesting from different cultures and time periods. There’s a cafe and a store near the main entrance and plenty of restrooms throughout.

What a wonderful and shall I say - Free museum to visit in the heart of museum district in Dallas. The parking isn’t free though and now costs $20. It is a bit high but you can park all day until 9pm and walk to other museums and locations nearby or grab food while you car stays cool in the covered park. The museum has a good collection, a little crowded though because, well it’s free. The Asian collection is bigger than I had expected and I love the sizeable addition of Indian and Islamic art. They had a mummy while I visited which is great to see. Set aside a couple hours to fully explore it all and you can always grab some food at the cafe if you feel hungry. The museum staff isn’t too overwhelming which is a good thing. Maybe avoid weekends and public holidays if you don’t want to deal with crowds.

Free art museums are the best. Parking is $20. Exhibits are great but a lot of the South American section was closed when I visited which made me very sad. They have a place to check your bag for free and the restrooms are very nice and clean. The staff was so kind and helpful during my entire visit .

It's a great place. There's a lot to see, I didn't even finish going through the whole museum. The kid's area was a good idea, you get to make some cute little scratch off necklaces, and it lets the whole family get involved. The art is arranged by era and style I think, it was pretty easy to navigate but it's a shame some areas were closed when I went. The security guards were a little too aggressive with their warnings when we stepped a little too close to some things but I suppose you can never be too careful. Overall I had a good time just relaxing and walking around looking at beautiful art. There was a great variety of things to see and I would definitely come back again someday.

The Community Day at the Dallas Museum Art was awesome. We were able to check out multiple exhibits and experience the art. It was a beautiful gallery. Highly recommended to go on a weekend with less traffic. The temperature was lower on the day we went and could have helped.

Safe on-site garage parking. Entire museum is ADA accessible, with ease. Revamped children's makerspace (upstairs now), high-quality rotating exhibits, wide range of trinkets, jewelry, toys, & prints in the gift shop. Tours & special events galore. Really well cared-for space. Top-notch collections & pieces that will make your jaw drop. We've been to summer camp, toddler times, late night events, festivals, and just a typical drop in during a "regular" day... and honestly it's always a wonderful time.

Very nice museum with many many art work to look at. It took us 3hr to get through the whole museum and still miss a few small areas. We went at the time when they were having free art activity which was kinda fun. Free ticket, parking is $15. You need to get the tickets online and just show the barcodes they sent in your email to the front desk. And you can donate however much you want to the museum, we donated $10 to show appreciation for the free tickets and the hard work to set up such a nice museum.

Always a safe place to go if you don't have anything to do because 1. It's accessible 2. It's free All they ask is that you give them a zip code to check in and that's it. There are some special exhibits that you have to pay for, but they're usually affordable and have discounts students and probably some other common discounts.

This is one of the nicest art museums that I have been to! For it to be free, I was so impressed. The exhibits were nicely displayed and descriptive. I especially appreciated the flow of the exhibits on multiple floors. You can easily park off street and pay at the metered parking (very minimal costs $2 or $3 for 2 hours). I would plan for 3 hours if you are like me, and like to take your time reading the displays!

The museum has a nice assortment of collections from all around the world, and the best part is that admission is free. Unfortunately, some of the exhibits were closed due to a recent break in, but there was still plenty to see on the other floors. Would definitely recommend getting tickets before hand to speed up the check in process. Also they do request that you carry any bags in hand, or leave them at the coat check.

An amazing place to go with family! (Or alone if you feel like it) my kids had a wonder time. We went closer to close but, will definitely go back earlier in the day next time to see everything. Highly recommend getting the free tickets online. The parking is $15 in the garage. I wished I have experienced the cafe since it’s highly talked about!

With admission being free, this is one of the best spots to visit with kids, especially being there is park and food trucks across the street. Street parking is limited to 2 hrs but was only $.95 for the 2 hours. There were 4 levels each taking about 30-45 mins if you keep up a good pace. Lot's to view and more than just paintings. Lots of wearables and functional art as well as a sculpture garden.

They have free Sundays. This museum was huge and has so many exhibits. I loved it. It was a great experience and a fun activity for a Sunday. Waking distance from lots of food, parks and hotels.

The museum has a few sections that are currently closed, but is very much so worth visiting. Parking is $15 for the underground spaces. There is an extra charge for what is currently visiting the location. The Kinetic exhibit (which was the current visiting exhibit) has a fun hands on light bulb string piece that was really fun. I suggest you make a day of your visit and be sure to stop by the sculpture garden. If you want a bite to eat there is a cafe situated on the first floor. The American art collection, in particular the silver and glass selections are fascinating.

This is a great art museum. Not to suggest I really know what I'm talking about, but that a pleb like me could still enjoy myself. There's are a lot of exhibits to get some conversation going, it's actually more fun than you would think. I especially enjoyed the Japanese are exhibit and the coffee was great. I will come back again for sure.

FABULOUS FREE MUSEUM!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I have been here many times, & love visiting each time! ❤️✔️ So much to see & enjoy! ✔️ I know they sometimes have unique shows that are seasonal or switch out, I haven’t tried any of those, but it’s a great place to get out of the summer Texas heat & enjoy some art & history. ✔️🥳👍🏻

Free to the general public, excluding special exhibits, it's a great way to spend an hour or two of your afternoon. Beautifully curated and organized, it's a great way to view a vast array of work in both time and scale without the pretentiousness of a larger museum. It's a great introductory into popular artists and time periods that may just bring out the secret lover of humanities in you.

Super BIG, everything was beautiful. My spouse and I went a little later in the day so we really didn’t get the see all of the art. We will be going back again soon. There is public parking under the museum which cost $15.00, however the museum was free to get in.

I have been going here throughout my whole life! It was nice coming back to this amazing art museum and reminisce those times when our school would take us here for fieldtrips. I am always fascinated by the art here and just how they exhibit artwork. They have some of the same things from years before but they do change most of it up. Definitely check this amazing art if you haven’t been, this is a fun place to come and explore and appreciate the different artists the world has. Tickets are free but garage parking is not!

We went to this museum last week and found the place worth visiting. The exhibits are categorised well and labelled to explain. We reached the place by 3.00P.M. and had about two hours to explore and enjoy. We had booked tickets online but it was free and we paid for parking before heading in. We were allowed photos without flash. Recommend this place as an escape from the Dallas heat and a delve into the past and understand the splendour and grandeur with which communities lived. Display of rooms with each item labelled, the ornamental silverware used , the tribal arts and wonderful marble statues are just a few examples.

This made my experience in Dallas, for sure! They have amazing galleries with gorgeous art on display. They have a wide variety of art so you could easily spend half the day viewing it. The staff was very helpful with navigation and was great with reminding guests not to get too close to the art. I myself really enjoyed the modern contemporary art. Overall beautiful art museum.

At a cost of free, who wouldn’t want to come here to see beautiful fine art. This place was so bigger than we expected and spent a good time looking at every piece we could see! Truly fascinating to see what other artist have painted on a canvas and designed in shapes and forms. As well as seeing historical pieces through many years.

Free entrance to the most part, special exhibitions to be paid for. Worth visiting. Art from all over the world all brought together . If you want a world tour you will need at least half a day to a day to study it properly. I’ve seen the Asian and African art before. What crossed my mind is that the highly influenced religious connotations are widely exposed. More so than the Christian look at life. There is Christian art, but it’s meaning is less brought forward in its content compared to the other religious works. My suggestion is to balance that out more properly and explain the meaning of Jesus and the content of the Gospel in similar ways.

Some of the few free activities you have in Dallas downtown. Big enough for a 2-3 hours and very interesting museum. Spanish/English descriptions in almost all the pieces. parking has cost. But maybe you can find around for a few coins.

Absolutely worth to explore if you go to Dallas. On the day we visited, floor 4,3 and 2 were all free for visitors. At least you need half a day to fully explore them and absorb the beauty of the art and some outstanding details in those art pieces. They have a nice cafeteria but we were not able to taste their food. Parking space is ample but most of visitors parked at curbside by paying to the meters.

Such a beautiful museum, esp for being FREE! I didn’t check in online but they were able to check me in at the door. Masks are required. Parking structure is $15, but I parked on the street for 2hrs for $4. There’s also food trucks across the street! There were multiple levels of different types and eras of Art and several rooms to explore. Not going to lie, I went in a couple circles on accident trying to go to the next exhibit. Great museum to check out nonetheless! They also have a huge cafe and gift shop to check out after.

This has got to be one of the best Museums I have ever been too. There was a hour left till 5pm closing, and this is where our sight seeing had us. There was no fee just sign up with email at the front, and mask are required. There are no temperature checks required also. We didn't have enough time to see all the extraordinary art that was on display, but I saw the feet of a mummy in its coffin. I was able to have all my questions answered by the staff at hand, at every art exhibit from India, Africa, Greece, Asia and many more. I like one of the mirroring glass/stones, where me, and my partner were able to stand each on one side, and see each other at what we were looking at. You could also see the sculptures outside. Some my favorite canvases were of the angels and Jesus Christ. There are also restrooms located inside its gonna take a good 2 to 3 hrs to see everything in the humongous museums. Dallas museums was one of the cleanest places I was in downtown. I recommend this museum.

I was so shocked that this museum was free! They had some really good pieces. I was impressed with the size too. The layout was a little funky, but overall it was a nice facility! They had a good collection of abstract art, which I really enjoyed. They also had quite a few well-known artists too which was awesome. Downsides were that it was really busy when we went on a Saturday afternoon and parking was a bit of a challenge too since it was our first time in the area. The experience was worth it though!

Thoroughly enjoyed the exhibits in this museum. It was much bigger than I expected, which was a pleasant surprise. Parking was $15 below the museum and admissions to the museum itself was free, although they do prefer that you reserve your time slots online. I highly recommend visiting the Dallas Museum of Art if you’re into art and history.

The Dallas Museum of art was beautiful and awesome, It was a trip for family day at the Job and we had 5 kids ages 4-9. The only issues we had is there seemed to be employees in every room following close behind to make sure the kids didn't get to close or touch anything they even asked us to keep them 2 feet back while we watched adults standing so close the could lick the portrait. So I'm just not sure how kid friendly they are maybe it was because we had 5 young kid's, I would return but with adults.

This place is amazing. Lots of stolen artifacts for you to see. Don't come here with a non potty trained child. Diaper bags are allowed except every person working will tell you something different and harass you. You might mess something up. Maybe bring a stroller instead. I'm not sure if that's allowed. If not you will be followed like you're a criminal. It might be easier to just not bring kids. None of the people who work there are on the same page. Anyways Claude Monet works are in there and many amazing paintings and works of art.I can't believe I saw something I learned about in high school.

Admission is free. Secure your tickets online in advance. You cannot carry drinks etc but there is a coatcheck where you can secure any items that you brought with you. This is especially useful for people out for the day exploring the city like myself. I really enjoyed The Dallas Museum of Art. I was worried that I didn’t see all of the items on display due to the layout being quite maze-like. The arrangement was really neat but I know I missed some walkways and I completely missed the sculpture garden, sadly. You could easily spend hours here. Photography is allowed expect for borrowed pieces and special exhibits. Flash photography is prohibited. There were two women doing an Instagram style photo shoot when I was there. They were monopolizing several of the art pieces that I would have liked to have seen but no one stopped them so I guess it was acceptable. There are lots of employees around to ask questions if needed.

I love this place. I went there with my students and even though rules are strict, the staff member s (actually volunteers) were welcoming making their experience smooth. Ours was an hour experience. too fast to appreciate the greatness of the art pieces this place has, however now my students know there are hundreds of pieces like the ones they saw and they can visit the place any other time, on their own, with enough time, at their pace and best of all FOR FREE! I can't believe all this beauty is available to be appreciated for free. Great Job for sponsors or whoever makes this possible for all of us. Thank you. :)

Admission is FREE! This is a great place to visit if you are in the Dallas area and are looking for something to do. Covered parking is $15. They have many displays of art from African, Asian, Greek, Pan Pacific, the list goes on! They also have different exhibits you can check out for a nominal fee as well. This place is big so put on your walking shoes and get ta steppin!

I have been to many of the most famous museums of the world and I would rate this as up there with them all. The architecture sorts of pulls you in and one feels that one is sharing the art experience rather than just looking at it. Time went in a flash and later that day , at a social function, I met some local residents who seem to be amazed that I had spent my first day in Dallas in the Art museaum!

  • 5/5 Bel S. 4 years ago on Google
An awesome place to learn and be in awe of beautiful works of art and masterpieces. The staff were extremely welcoming. Sunday is free. Parking at the museum is $15.00 so if you get there early you can park on the street. To avoid the church crowd, get there when they open. No crowds then.

Visited for the special art events - have decided to check the museum while at the city. It's quite big - 3 stories, and have several rooms (+50) so you can spend almost 2-3 hours here if you are not careful.. Meaning you will end up spending your afternoon if you enter at 1 pm and come out at 4pm, thinking "wow. where did time flew away?" It's absolutely great museum - clean, well maintained, and the ticket price can be bit pricey. Make sure to get the family membership if you visit city and enjoy art work regularly. Monthly art museum events are available.

This is the best ever in the place where it sees the status for the arts and painted. We learned to talk about something made for the paint of the picture. Those elevator will be great attitude and such as possible can go. Where in Dallas goes in downtown for cake to the family will results 6 stars. I so proud to protect this place during Covid-19. Stay safe and stay in home before you are going the Dallas Museum Of Arts. Thank You, Dallas Museum Of Art!

Wow! Free general admission the see some amazing art! The walk through history and different civilizations was awesome. So many paintings and sculptures the enjoy, I loved seeing all of the different styles and techniques shaped by culture, lifestyle and religion. I know I didn't get to see everything, it would take at least a full day to do so!

Love love love this museum! PLUS IT IS FREE! Well it was free when I went lol. Such amazing art works and great historic status and pieces. My favorite was the African and Indonesian exhibits. It is pretty big so you need a few hours or at least two days to see it all, but its so worth it.

This is such a great museum. With 4 floors and different categories, you can spend hours here. The museum is free to enter as well! Make sure you get your free tickets online before you go. We went on a Saturday morning-afternoon and it wasn't too crowded at all. There's metered parking around the sides of the museum and there's a parking garage for parking needs. The only issue is extremely overbearing staff. Apparently we (two grown adults) looked like we needed to be told not to touch items and to stand behind the tape before we even entered a room. The same lady stood behind us in that section the entire time. Super uncomfortable. But other than that, this museum is great and we enjoyed our time here.

The Dallas Museum of Art is a great place to visit. The admission is free but it’s best to reserve your free ticket online. The Museum has countless artworks from renowned artist like Picasso and Monet, but also has art from many modern day artist. This is a great museum to visit if you enjoy art or want to try a great attraction with your family. The staff is very friendly and helpful, I highly recommend visiting the Dallas Museum of Art.

One of my favorites places to go. The exhibits are breathtaking. Recently went for the Van Gogh one, nothing beats seeing the real thing. Informational, and moving. Can’t wait for the upcoming Cartier! Tickets are free (reserve ahead of time), but I recommend getting a membership with them. And it’s right across the park, food trucks.. etc.

Fastest way to the garage is by setting the parking garage as destination. As of now it’s $15 to use the parking garage. Admission to the museum was free. 4 hours passed by quick and still had a couple of exhibits to see. Awesome experience, food trucks across the street.

Beautiful place to visit. Takes time because it's big. Four floors of incredibles objects, paintings and sculptures from all over the World. Attendance were very nice and healthful, specially one who make the place very interesting and intriguing. Shout out to Dwayne for being so knowledgeable and enthusiastic - ask him about the ghost mirror!

I booked my ticket in advance so entry was quick. I didn't realize bottles aren't allowed inside, so I drained my water outside to bring it in. No mask mandates but they have extras if you ask. I'll be going back to finish seeing the whole museum, it's so huge! Really nice collections, in some parts they have stories/comments from the artists on their pieces. This one is "Everything Belongs" by Erin Shaw from the Mississippian Exhibit, I found the story behind it very relatable. There's also spaces and material for anyone (here a 33 year old :) )to create and put up their own art.

Super fun. We went when it was 110 outside so the sculpture garden was closed. They said it is usually opens each morning till it gets to hot. We were going to go back but run out of time. (the museum is free)

An astounding collection of art and artifacts from around the globe. The African and Asian art galleries were my favorites! An employee suggested we begin at the 4th floor and make our way down, and I’m glad they did! Such an incredible experience. A must visit in Dallas!

First time here. After-hours exhibitions were closed. Went for Arts and Letters Live event. Organized. Museum staff were welcoming and courteous. Browsed Museum store. Some interesting finds. For a first timer, navigating parking was a little confusing. Ended up on the street after getting lost trying to access museum parking even with maps. Would like to go back for an exhibition and walk around a bit. Overall, it was a good experience.

Beautiful collection in this museum. It's free except special exhibits and parking. Only down side is it doesn't open until 11 am and closes at 5 pm most days. I could have used a longer day. We went to the special exhibit, saints and sinners, highly recommend paying the small fee to see it. More bathrooms when you guys redo the museum please. No outside food and drinks allowed. Leave it in your car. They have a cafe.

Absolutely worth visiting! I was very impressed by the range of art and artifacts. My favorite areas were the Roman artifacts and impressionism paintings. And the cafe is worth checking out if looking for lunch. I can't recommend the yucca fries enough! The Chihuly display is enchanting.

Loved the museum. The main entrees at the internal restaurant were excellent, but the drinks and sides were extremely overpriced. The gift shop was awesome. The displays were phenomenal. My wife loved the landscape paintings. I myself was drawn to many of the ancient artifacts and furniture.

Let’s start with the fact it is free (except for parking). Pieces from many different periods and places from around the world. And then to see Monet, Rodin, Picasso, Kahlo and so many more. Museum is huge and barely scratched the surface in just over 2 hours. Exceeded our expectations!

The museum consists of the admission free and paid section. You should plan your visit in a way that gives you enough time to see all the collections and halls and visiting for once is a must. I found staff very vigilant and would tell you not to get close to atrifacts. The atmosphere is calm and gives you the opportunity to visit historical artifacts. It is photography friendly as long as you do not use the flash. Do not forget to have a couple of backup batteries for your camera. Parking would be a challenge as I parked in the street and paid by mobile app.

This place is absolutely awesome. They have a plethora of exhibits; ranging from African American Art, Asian, Egyptian, etc. The main exhibit is free and they even offer other exhibits at an affordable cost. When my partner and I went it was $10 each to explore other works of art. They even had little rooms to sit and create art. It was really fun and cute, it’s the perfect date idea!
