Very well preserved natural reserve park. have lot of spots to relax, meditate and lot of natural beauty includes cliffs, small bridges, ponds, hills etc. also have number of trails for all age group. peaceful place for me time. Suggestions: Don’t forget to get your water bottle and do donate decent amount for maintenance for park as they don’t charge any fees.

Do I dare say? This is The Best hiking trail in Dallas! I've been wanting to check this place out and I had no idea what I'd been missing. Parking lot gets packed pretty early on nice days, by 8am is almost full. Loved the views, the trails well marked, so cleared and opened. There are plenty of ups and downs throughout the trails and hills, you'll work up a sweat for sure. There was plenty of people hiking so it all seemed pretty safe for people going by themselves. I highly recommend and I'll definitely be visiting this place more often.

I have never been here for hiking and decided last min to give it a try on 5/13/23. Ample parking upon arrival, several areas with shaded parking too. There are numerous trails to choose from and they are all great. Beautifully taken care of, trails are clean, soft, and clearly marked. There is a butterfly garden and saw tons of butterflies. Great view as well as lots of turtle in the pond. For a Saturday afternoon, there were plenty of people but never felt overcrowded. Will certainly be back to try out more of the trial soon. Great park!

I love coming here. I hate cardio, but I love being in nature. This is my way to get my cardio in twice a week without the monotony. This is a hidden gem I forgot about. It is just as beautiful as it was when I came 10 years ago. Everyone seems friendly. Only one issue since I have been coming over the last few months (twice a week since Aug) is one time a stray dog bit my 7 y/o. ( The dog was trying to flee the crowded area. We were on the path, and my son didn't know the dog was aggressive since all the dogs had been with their owners and well-mannered. My son didn't move off the path out of the way of the dog, and the dog nabbed him as he was running past us). I now carry mace. That happened about a month and a half ago. No issues since. I still come frequently and sometimes alone, though I come during busy times just in case. Always be aware of your surroundings for safety.

Amazing and safe place to walk and explore the nature. Awesome park. I really enjoyed the walk and the view… the hardest part was the walk back but it was worthy…. ( up hill) but love it… dont bring very small children if you want to walk the trails and complete the mission.

Beautiful, quiet, well kept trails. All trails very clearly marked. Lots of elevation change. Cattail Pond is full of red-eared slider turtles and bluefin. Wildflowers in spring. Bluebonnets and more! Lovely views of Joe Pool Lake.

Beautiful place in the DFW for a exhilarating hike. Beautiful scenery and varied elevation. It has lots of visitors however you can easily feel like your the only one out there. Nicely shaded in most areas. Definitely a new go to spot for me when I want to be as one with nature. Truly a hidden gem.

Always a blast coming here! It was definitely hot for our 2.5 mile hike, but it was worth it. Kids love it, and please be sure to leash your pets. I saw several that didn't, and I almost tripped over them while walking. Also, for those with pets, BRING POOP BAGS! A few people didn't clean up after their pets and there was piles of poop in the middle of the walkway on several trails!!! Trails are easily marked and have markers along the way. Flies are definitely out in full force, so a little bug spray before helps. Please pick up any trash along the way to help out. I saw water and Gatorade bottles carelessly left on the trails.

This is such a nice nature preserve. The trails are well maintained and the nature is allowed to take it’s process. There are many trail options for all levels, there’s even a wheelchair accessible butterfly trail. The Cattail trail has a viewpoint looking out to the Joe pool lake and cedar hill state park.

My favorite place to hike in DFW. The nature here makes me feel like I’m not even in Texas. There are so many different trails to go on and explore. My only wish is that I started going here sooner. Would highly recommend for all ages and skill levels. Beautiful especially in fall!!

WOW, what a fun time we had at Cedar Ridge Preserve today roaming the trails. Located in the southern area of Dallas with over 10 trails ranging from .15 to 2 miles this place preserve has trails for everyone. When we arrived around 11 there was plenty of parking and we were able to easily navigate to our first trail. All the trails we trekked were simple to navigate and there were plenty of people walking them. We did encounter a couple snakes going across the trails and decided to keep our distance. The preserve is well maintained and there is plenty of seating throughout. The feeling of being engulfed in nature, provided some spectacular views. Overall, I can't wait to return and hit the other trials.

My first time coming here was about 3 years ago. I have older pictures & recent pictures. As you can tell that little pond is now looking very dirty & not as beautiful as it used to. But I still love to hike here. Pretty views & a good workout! They don’t charge anything, they have restrooms at the start & people also bring their dogs! I enjoy it

Visited two weeks ago. It was beautiful and the trail to cat tail pond (?) was nice. If only dog owners would clean up after their dogs or not let them go on the trail where people walk/run, it would be great!

Best trails so far in the city. It's rated difficult for a reason, so plan accordingly. Too much trees to get any really good shots, but there is a binocular section we didn't try.

Went here with a friend and really enjoyed it. Almost felt like hiking in Colorado. "Almost" lol definitely a great place to go with the family and enjoy. Parking is a bit overwhelming at times but I recommend to get there at 6:30am. Either way we'll worth it.

Great place to get a good workout. It's pretty busy but still peaceful and secluded along the trails. The parking is pretty sparse if you arrive around 8 am. More parking was available around 10 am if you don't want to walk from the recreation center or from the parking lot across the street from the park. Gonna bring my pup the next time I go.

Cedar Ridge Preserve provides 13 hiking trails. However those options are not always shown, when you're looking for a sneak-peek of the trails. These are some of the photos taken from 2 of the 13 trails; Bluebonnet & Escarpment. Both trails provided their own unique beauty, and were very easy to walk. The Escarpment trail also lead to Cattail Pond, if you want to walk the extra distance. **I separated the pictures by showing the name of the respective trail, before you start seeing the pics/video of the trail.

Oh my gosh! I have never been here before, and I’m in love! The trail was beautiful and easy to walk on. I saw several trails, but we only went around the 1 mile bluebonnet trail. This is not wheelchair accessible (in case anyone wants to know) it’s an easy walk, but there are some elevation changes and rocks that would make it difficult for wheelchairs. The sounds of nature were out in full force and even though it was sunny, there was lots of shade 😊

Great hike! Well groomed, clear signage, opportunity to stack/combine trails to extend your hike and well shaded. Decent amount of stairs depending on which loop you choose but tolerable and adds to your exercise/experience. Recommend getting there earlier because it does get crowded!

It's a lot of fun for me at the Preserve. There is a maintenance crew that keeps the place safe to walk and run on. There are paths with varying difficulty; there are short paths and steep paths. There is a pond and a great elevated view that allows you to see a lot of trees. It is large enough for the number of people that show up. Parking may look packed, but I never feel like there's a lot of traffic on the paths. The thing I dislike the most though is that dog owners don't pick up after their dogs. It's very upsetting that there is usually poop on the take it easy trails. If you're not a dog owner stop reading here. I have seen a bat, snake, and a few different types of spiders 😈 wasps and bees are around too. Just stay home.

This place is beautiful. The drive back was simple enough. There was parking right when you enter and then when you get to the back. The map was easy to follow and the trails are very visibly marked with signs that are colored for the trail you’re on or the one you want. I brought my dog with and she loved it too. Found a nice stream which I can happily say gets my pups approval. If you go early enough you can easily walk each trail they have. There are bathrooms that were relatively clean aside from spider webs.

First time down and will definitely be coming back. Plenty of parking but I could see it getting really crowded on the weekends. The trails are very rustic and narrow. Although they are marked trails they can be a little confusing so make sure and download the trail guide. Plenty of places to stop and sit and enjoy nature. Heavily wooded so if it rains be prepared to walk in a lot of mud.

CRP is the best trail we have in DFW if you are in any sport as it's one of the few spots we have any elevation. It is very technical and rocky, with roots sticking up everywhere. It is very easy to trip, fall, and injure yourself. It has become very packed due to popularity in recent years, so expect to possibly park somewhere else and walk over. Also, stay on the trail because there are poisonous snakes, but they tend to stay away from the trail due to people. If you are an athlete competing in any kind of endurance event this is where you want to train.

Wonderful place to escape the city and spend time in nature without actually leaving DFW. Lots of natural path trails to choose from for hiking with just enough elevation gain and rocks/roots/logs to climb to keep it interesting and physically challenging.

Enjoyed family time with my wife, two daughters and son-in-law. Cooked out fished and had loads of fun.

Recommend arriving by 715am on weekends to be able to park onsite and avoid the heat. We followed the trail sequence of Cattail Pond, Fossil Valley, Red Oak and Encampment for a 60-70 min hike with a healthy amount of stairs/ elevation change. The trails are well marked and there is a variety of items to see, from wildflowers to ponds to creeks, in what is a mostly canopy covered route.

Such a beautiful preserve! The Cedar Brake trail was a very challenging trail. The trail has lots of rocks and tree roots sticking up. Lots of inclines on rocks. It was a great challenge and amazing work out. There was benches along the trail to rest and take in all the beauty. There was little to no trash on the trails. Everyone was very friendly and had great trail etiquette. We didn’t see any wild life, but heard tons of chatty birds. There was butterflies everywhere. It you visit in on the weekend be prepared to wait to get in and get parked. The line did move quickly. I recommend hiking boots or trails shoes. My walking shoes did not do well on the trail we ventured. I did see poison oak a few times. So be on the lookout. Happy Hiking!

Hiked 4 miles last week. Great workout. Great views. Everyone we came across was super nice. It took about 10-15 minutes to get in for parking but it was well worth it. This was our 2nd time and we had a blast. My legs hurt for 2 days straight because I was not in the best shape and there were quite a few inclines (steps). We decided we'll come back a few times a year.

Very mixed bag. I live in Colorado, so I had to temper my expectations about a hike inside the metroplex. The area itself is lovely. Well kept and well marked trails. Plenty of shade. No scramble, and very gentle elevation changes. The bad news is the crowd. I arrived at 630, and the lot was filling up. By 8 when I was leaving the lot was full and the attendant was turning people away. Most of the other hikers were respectful, but there were also quite a few blasting music on Bluetooth speakers. So, a quick trip to get a trail run or walk in, fine. A good place to go experience nature and unplug for a while, not great.

I enjoyed my first time here two days ago on a Sunday! Many people were on the trail and I felt safe hiking by myself. Much needed. I can't wait until the flowers start blooming.
