Visited the Meadows Museum on the the SMU campus in Dallas, Texas recently. This has been on my list to do for quite awhile. Although I didn't get to see all of the museum, I did visit the gallery which housed Medieval & Early Renaissance Spain: Treasures from the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. This is a long term loan from the Museum of Fine Arts. The artwork is Absolutely breathtaking. I also loved the artwork in front of the entrance to the museum which includes "Sho" a modernist 13 foot tall sculpture among others. Looking forward to returning and enjoying all of the fabulous masterpieces in this museum. 👍

A famed collection of Spanish art works in the Americas, one of my reasons to visit Dallas. Even though some of the paintings were not on view the temporary exhibition more than compensated. I went on a Thurs evening — not only the entrance is free but also got a good tour.

There is great little word play here. The national museum in Madrid is named the Prado... Which can be translated to Meadow. With the incredible focus on Spanish art the name is so fitting. The collection is amazingly well curated. This museum punches far above its weight. If you've spent any time looking at Spanish art you will find many familiar friends hanging on the walls here. Allow yourself 2 hours plus without kids and probably a maximum of 90 minutes with kids.

Parking is free and really close to the museum. There are a few cool sculptures outside. When you walk in the first floor is free and features was small art works. You have to check in at the gift shop to buy tickets to enter the second floor. Overall the museum is pretty small there is a big wooden bench when you walk up the stairs that looks like it's meant to be sat on. It is a piece of artwork. The art works are kind of boring but maybe it just wasn't my type of art

This museum is gold dust. It perfectly embodies the statement that quality overcomes quantity, since its relatively small size does not prevent it from being the most comprehensive gallery of Spanish art outside of Spain, probably even surpassing the Kunsthistorisches Museum Spanish rooms in Vienna. Visiting the Meadows Museum will take you on an exciting journey through the History of painting in Spain, from the Medieval, Renaissance and Baroque periods (Velázquez, Ribera or Murillo being fine examples) to the nineteenth century masters or the avant gardes of the twentieth century (Sorolla, Fortuny, Picasso, Gris or Dalí all reunite on the gallery’s walls). Do not miss this opportunity to get a taste of Spanish painting in Texas!

A haven of well-curated Spanish art. Their film series does not disappoint. Especially peaceful on late evenings. Complimentary admission on Thursdays after 5 p.m And a cute gift shop.

My docent, Maria, was magnificent, and truly helped me appreciate the wonderful Spanish art. The layout of the museum is lovely, and it’s location on the campus of SMU is wonderfully convenient to Highland Park.

I really enjoyed our visit to the Meadows Museum. We went when there was a Salvador Dalí exhibit. The staff did a great job of arranging the artwork.

Connections program for people affected by Dementia is wonderful! Get to study & discuss artwork in a group. Never got so involved with paintings like this before.

We went on a Friday and this is a delightful collection. Give yourself a minimum an hour to go through. As an out of town visitor, I think it was worth the stop.

I love this museum. They have an awesome selection at their permanent exhibition. If you want to learn about Spanish art this is the perfect place. I’m not only speaking about the pieces of art, I think the building and the interior of the museum are incredible and historical. The pieces of art, have Sorolla, Piccasso, Zuloaga, and one price by Diego Rivera (Mexican artist). And a couple of pieces by Emilio Sánchez Perrier that were so so awesome, I don't remember seeing something like that in Texas' museums.

Excellent place to appreciate some paintings from famous Spanish painters, since El Greco to Salvador Dali, Miró and Diego Velázquez, and an extraordinary sculpture designed by renowned architect Santiago Calatrava, "The Wave".

I recently visited the Meadows Museum, and it was a remarkable cultural experience. The museum's collection of art, particularly its impressive array of Spanish masterpieces, left me in awe. The exhibits were well-curated and provided an insightful journey through the history of Spanish art. The museum is free if you are only going to see the arts at the ground floor, however there is a fee of $12 if you want to see the exhibition at the upper floor. The museum's architecture and layout were both aesthetically pleasing and conducive to a leisurely exploration of the art on display. The lighting and ambiance added to the overall charm of the visit. Moreover, the staff at the Meadows Museum were incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about the artworks, enhancing my appreciation of the pieces. They were also more than willing to answer any questions and provide background information.

Nice private museum on the SMU campus. Good collection of Spanish art but don't expect to spend more than an hour here. They are now charging $6 per person so references to free are incorrect.

I’ve been to a lot of museums in Dallas and none of them treated me like this museum has. They were very rude followed me around the entire time. If your are African American please don’t visit here and waste your money.

Beautiful museum. It's being renovated, so many rooms were closed, that's why the entry tickets were free. It will fully reopen on September 2023. This is a really nice old house museum. Some Miro and Picasso artwork, so I was really surprised and happy to walk inside this museum. I'll go back to see all the rooms. I loved it!

Spanish art. Paintings and sculptures that are memorable. You will be drawn back to visit many times and see things in the paintings you didn't notice before.

We came here for the "picturing you" adoption event and had an amazing time. The staff is friendly and helpful. They have some free parking below the museum, make sure to park where the pillars say museum parking and you will be fine. The kids want to come back and enjoy observing the art again. There is an elevator to go up to the second floor, however if you able I would suggest the stairs. The stairs itself are beautiful but there is a gorgeous painting at the landing. According to the website: Adults pay $12, $10 for seniors 65 and older, $4 for non-SMU students and Free admission is offered to all youth 18 and under through August 31, 2023 thanks to a grant.

Beautiful space! We loved the collection and were so happy it was open on a Sunday because we had out-of-state guests. In one room we all tried to scan the QR code to learn more about the collection. We had mixed results with the QR code and got so many advertisements we gave up listening.
