Dropped by for lunch and I wasn’t disappointed. There is a large variety of food available for you to choose. Place is crowded during lunch but order taking and food was served very swiftly. Food quality is very authentic based on what I have had previously. Would definitely be back or bring friends here if I’m back in Melbourne.

It is my favourite Indonesian restaurant in Melbourne. The food is cheap but still delivers amazing taste. My favourite order is Char-grilled Barramundi with Yellow Rice. The black sauce and sambal sauce are tasty, and they lift the fish flavour to another level. The service is quick and the staff are really friendly. The restaurant has many tables outdoors and upstairs.

💯🔥 Please do yourself a favour and visit this place to relish their authentic Indonesian food. No kidding, this restaurant consistently puts out delicious food, of which the grilled beef ribs with rice is a favourite of mine. 🥩😋 The Grilled Beef Ribs With Rice ($22.10) is one of their bestsellers for a good reason. The dish doesn't look pretentious or grand, a bowl of rice with absolutely delicious ribs meat, that feels like a piece of heaven in my mouth. Words aren't enough to express how good this dish is. Along with the jasmine rice, it was just perfect. The hot sambal was great as well, perfectly complementing the dish. 🆒👍🏼 The place is often busy and noisy, so that's something to be aware of. The food more than makes up for it, so it hardly matters. The staff are alright. Without a doubt, one of the best beef dishes I've had in the CBD so far.

Lamb ribs and grilled barramundi are amazing~the chili sauce they put on the barramundi dish is so amazing too! Too spicy for me, but I can't get enough of it! The venue is nicely presented and service is super friendly 😁

Seems like Kedai Satay is the only one (as far as I know) which sells Tahu Gejrot (smashed tofu) that I have been missing soooo much! The sweet, savory & vinegary flavors really hit home for me 🇮🇩 Of course I can’t have just that, I needed to get some juicy fried chicken with yellow rice too AND eat it with hand! (I know I know so very Indo of me 😂) Funny thing is we went there to try their satay but they actually ran out! So we plan to go back sometime soon or get deliveries so we can finally try their well-known satay 🍢

It’s a restaurant upstairs that gives us the authentic Indonesian food. What’s best is their hospitality. Today we’ve been greeted & served by 3 young guys who’re taking care of the kitchen & the counter. They never hesitated to give us the best of everything on menu. And we shall keep coming back for more. Bravo👌🏻

I recently had a lovely dinner at Kedai Satay. We ordered to share the grilled beef ribs, curry with lamb, spicy tofu and yellow rice. For drinks we had the ice teler and mango ice blend. I highly recommend trying one of the signature grilled dishes. The beef ribs were grilled to perfection, they were so tender and coated in a delicious peanut sauce. The curry with lamb was another beautiful dish. Full of flavour, the lamb falls off the bone and melts in the mouth, we couldn’t get enough. Although called spicy tofu, the tofu wasn’t spicy at all and made for a lovely entree. Both the ice teller and mango ice blend were refreshing and sweet. If you’re looking for a taste of Indonesia right here in Melbourne I highly recommend checking out Kedai Satay.

📣 Affordable and Authentic Indonesian Cuisine @kedaisatay ' in Melbourne's CBD. This cozy spot exudes the ambience of a traditional warong, offering an array of street food, local dishes, snacks, and beverages at prices that won't break the bank😉 Our must-try dish was their Ayam Bakar, a classic grilled chicken served with fragrant yellow rice. The flavours are simply irresistible, with the chicken expertly grilled to achieve that perfect char on the outside.💯 Another standout recommendation is the Ayam Tahu Tempe Kremes – a delightful medley of traditional fried chicken, tofu, tempe, and a generous sprinkle of crispy flakes.👍🏻👍🏻 If you're in the mood for 🐟, don't miss the grilled Barramundi, served with a homemade lime chilli sauce that perfectly complements the fish's delicate flavours. For a spicy kick, indulge in their Egg Balado, which pairs wonderfully with any of the rice dishes.✔️ Cool off with refreshing beverages like Ice Cendol or Ice Teler.😊 What truly elevates the experience is their authentic sambal – a fiery and flavorful condiment that enhances the taste of any rice dish. It's a must-try accompaniment❗️

Casual dining with highlight of the location being yummy food. Ordered beef ribs to share and it was a delight. Meet falling off the bone along with spicy chilli 🌶 sauce. Can be bundled with rice to complete a meal. Loved the food and minimalistic food menu. Place serves halal food.

I was here a long time ago (like maybe 6 years ago) and apparently I liked their soto betawi. Came back there recently and I liked their ayam kremes and nasi kuning. Ayam goreng was well cooked and moist inside, and good amount of kremes. Batagor was ok. Es cendol was nice, but picture in menu was deceiving as pictures were all tall glass but you get like goblet glass, so not as big. Sate ayam has nice charcoal grill taste to it, but sauce isnt the best I have had, looked and tasted a bit dilute. I like their tofu salad, tofu was beautiful but it wasn’t really Indonesian dressing or salad, it’s like coleslaw salad with fried tofu so it’s fusion dish. Soto ayam has nice lemongrass flavour but rather too sweet which shouldn’t be. Overall it was an okay lunch, but it wasn’t cheap (we paid more than $30 per person).

Nothing fancy, just delicious traditional Indonesian food that comes out quick and isn’t too expensive. The menu is fairly large offering most of the classic Indo dishes. Staff are always friendly and welcoming.

SIMPLE MALAYSIAN CAFE IN MELBOURNE CBD Pay as you order style cafe in the city centre with a small selection of Malaysian dishes (including satay of course!). Fast service and cheerful staff. Good for a quick lunch with friends / colleagues. Can get quite busy (and noisy). There are a few tables out the back of the cafe (al fresco style) as well. Recently had a meal delivered via UberEats which was much lower quality than the in-cafe experience, so, if you aren't far away, go in and get your takeaway

Delicious Indonesian food at a reasonable price. We enjoyed everything we had ❤️ the smoky flavour of all the grilled meat & fish. The sauce on the dishes just go so well together. 🔸Ice teler - sweet syrup & condensed milk with grass jelly, jackfruit and lychee 🔸Iced cendol 🔸Pempek - Indonesian fish cake in vinegar sauce 🔸Lamb ribs with peanut sauce 🔸Grilled barramundi 🔸Chicken skewers

Tasty no frills Indonesia restaurant located near Melbourne Uni. Great place for students to grab a bite to eat. Dishes were explained clearly so I could order the right dish. Had a vegetarian rice dish which was quite tasty.

Enjoy the authentic Indonesian Street Food in Melbourne CBD. Especially the flame grilled dishes. You can smell the the grilled from the Chicken Satay skewers and the Baramandi Grilled. The special thing about this restaurant that you can order yellow rice with your dish as well. The drinks are so good as well.

Beef ribs & barramundi were amazing, melted in your mouth. Salad and yellow rice were great to balance out the chilly paste. Thai milk tea was nice. Cold Tiger beer. Friendly and fast service. Staff made food quickly and asked if we were ready quickly. Atmosphere was relatively medium busy when we were there. Good music. Great interior decorations

Homemade peanut sauce - creamy and bursting with flavour, it's the star of the show. A close second, their hot sambal! Satay Chicken was perfectly charred, tender and juicy perfect with the yellow rice and side salad. The lamb ribs is a must order so tender it is falling off the bone. The fattiness of it and the beef in the Soto Daging goes so well with the sambal. A version of it on the Egg Balado too that's interesting in texture and worth trying. When it gets too spicy, take a sip of their icy drinks which were quite mild in flavour so you could focus on the satay flavours.

Just flew in to Melbourne in the evening, was starving and was looking for somewhere close by and open late-ish. Luckily I stumbled upon this place as I wandered around. It was very quiet as it was near closing time on a Wednesday but the staff was helpful in telling me the popular dishes. They didn't let me down. The lamb ribs and the beef ribs were both delicious. The beef were a little fatty but that didn't bother me. Yummy!! Served with yellow rice, little crispy salad and chilli sauce. Cheap for the quality you get. Enjoyed a traditional iced tea with my meal. Highly recommend this little gem.

This place had been on my radar for some time and I wish I had gone sooner. I arrived right on 1130 opening, which they were just arriving for work. I ordered the five x satay chicken skewers with yellow rice. Seating is relaxed in a restorative environment. My order took some 45 mins to come up, despite being the first in but second table to order. The food didn't dissapoint. Even the salad was nice. I had a favourite Chinese, favourite Indonesian and favourite Singaporean and now this place tops of them. Customer service was friendly and price good.

I've been here several times pre-COVID and have always been happy enough with the food. First time since COVID and the food was mostly good as it always has been except that this time the chicken leg was raw in the middle. Not happy about that as it's just a bit careless really. I took a star of what would have been 5.

Tasty food. Good service. Friendly staff. Would definitely visit again. We ordered the Lamb Ribs (v good), Satay Chicken (v good) and the grilled Barramundi (the fish however was a rather thin fillet and a bit too grilled for our liking).

The beef ribs with yellow rice is amazing. Highly recommended, the meats so tender with nice char flavoured, rice cooked perfectly and not over seasoned! Excellent dish. Can’t understand why they’re not that busy.

Very friendly owner. Flavourful saucy food! I would say the prices are great consider it’s in the cbd. (Don’t expect Indonesian food to be healthy!)

Had a sumptuous dinner 🥘 here and was quite happy with everything I got on. Wonderful place and the meat 🍖 grills are quite delicious with their satay sauce. Certainly recommend a try as this comes super budgety being in CBD.

Tried their grilled chicken, beef ribs and lamb ribs. Loved their chicken. The beef and lamb was infused in peanut sauce. Halal place.

A little gem of a place. This cooking reminds me of my mother's cooking. So tasty and beautiful. The chillie sauce is actually hot. Sambal Bajak

Aroma of Bali welcomes you as you enter. The setting is not too crash hot but their beef steak is delicious. Do not forget to have it with coconut rice. Chicken skewers with satay source was ok. Their teas goes well with the meal. I highly recommend it.

You can see the BBQ being prepared right as you walk in. That aroma is felt outside and is almost unmissable from the street. Ordered beef with rice and large without rice, while mate ordered chicken skewers with rice and salad. Beef which had a bit of sauce on it was succulent, tender and definitely on point. The meat was breaking off so easily. Perfect combination. Sambal chilli on the side was quite spicy but if you like that, just go for it. 3 chicken skewers were a bit less with rice , 5 would be the way to go about it. Price was reasonably cheap and this place would be recommended for sure.
