If I could give zero stars I would! Saying “go to collaroo” is completely unacceptable, as it is not suitable for all members who partake in group fitness to travel the extra distance, and what about the men who have been enjoying classes? I believe they cannot attend pump or Zumba etc at Coolaroo? Like many others, I joined this gym due to its proximity to my home and the Amazing Zumba instructor Mel and pump instructor Andrea. It is INSULTING to cancel classes without actually notifying members (I found out 3rd hand) and then give excuses for your blatant disregard for regular members reasons for joining and the impact these changes could have on their mental and physical health. To cancel all Les Mills group fitness for good at one weeks notice and instead have a second reformer Pilates studio installed seems unnecessary and unfair. It’s really a shame as I was becoming a loyal Derrimut 24/7 fan, but will not be renewing my membership with this business.

The place was an absolute mess, with weights strewn about everywhere and no sense of organization or cleanliness. The bathrooms were dirty and uninviting, which made it difficult to even consider using them. The gym was so crowded that it was hard to find any equipment that wasn't already in use, and the music was hit or miss, which added to the overall unpleasant atmosphere. I would not recommend this gym to anyone looking for a clean and organized workout space!

Very little care for their group fitness members. Upper management has not even come forth and told members. They let pts tell their students with less than 1 weeks notice. Not even a post on social media about it and the website still reflects false information. The only contribution to letting people know has been removing the list from the room. Poor effort. Advising people that they can go to another gym to do group fitness is not okay. You also are advising to go to a place without a pilaties studio, can you confirm that they will not be getting upgrades and moving us again. Group fitness is always full with over 20 people at all times and yet they have cancelled the classes. Distance, travel and parking are worse on other locations with an attempted robbery happening recently at the gym you're advising to attend for group fitness. You have not been advising people who sign up that group fitness will not be continuing and you have been refusing refunds for those who signed up under false advertising !! You've made no effort towards supporting pts or your members. It is very clear the removal of the group fitness class is to ensure you keep the 'new direction' of having a 'pretty gym.' There is no reason why classes could not of ran on the gym floor or basketball courts which further showcases the lack of members and contracting pts.

Place is a Mess, male toilets have been out of order for 4 weeks by now and this is the conditions of the disabled toilet around 200 male members have to use. Equipment is good but is always broken, dumbells and handles always go missing.

This is absolutely not right! Many of us signed up the membership only for Zumba classes. Now the group fitness classes are all canceled. At first I was very happy seeing all the gym equipments were moving out from the Gym room and the place looked so amazing and spacious. Then last weekend I heard the bad news. I hope the Derrimut Management will reconsider not to cancel all the group fitness and Zumba classes. Please think of the member’s well being and mental health. I just checked with the front desk staff that Derrimut Gym is not going to refund our memberships.

What a letdown! We joined this gym because it offered a lot especially group classes like Zumba and Body Combat. To my surprise they canceled all group fitness classes with only 1 week notice. Had to find out from my instructor. AND THIS HAPPENED 2 months after I joined. Feels like a scam.

Signed up here in June. The manager advised me that the yearly fee of $550 would be going up after the financial year (4 days at the time) to $750 so I'd better get in quick. It's now November and the fee has since been going down every month, it sits now at $200. Broke my trust from the start. Pro's The gym it's self is fantastic, lots of great up-to-date machines and it's massive. Big open spaces to work out/warmup. Female separate Gym. Harry who is an amazing PT who really helped push me and get me back into shape with a personalized training program. The girl who works on the weekdays is very friendly always saying hello and goodbye with a smile. Con's The clients who attend. Leave their weights everywhere, never have I once seen someone unload their machine. (to use a machine you have to unload 80kgs off the machine first) To find a dumbbell you have to pace around the entire gym because it could be anywhere. No one uses a towel or keeps the machines clean. There are two Yoga/workout mats which are completely destroyed. The music is so loud that is cuts through noise cancelling headphones. Clients using multiple machines at once, calling dibs by leaving their personal belongings (bag, phone) on other machines in their line of sight whilst they go to workout on another machine and have a go at you if you move their stuff so you can do your workout. There was a time where I saw one client had 6 kettlebells and 4 pairs of dumbbells in the corner leaving the rack half empty, and guess what? He didn't put a single one back, this is very common amongst clients. Someone even went as far as aggressively shoulder barging me as I was walking past with a load of open space, he walked toward me and drifted into the path I was walking and forced his shoulder at me, hit me and laughed, there was no one else around and bout 5 metres of space to pass each other. This isn't High School, the demographic of people who attend is really bad, not sure if it's the suburb or low price, or both? If you want a nice place to work out go somewhere else and pay the extra, the cheap price comes at a cost. Suggestions No point complaining without a suggestions I understand you can't just make people change so here are some ways to improve. Make strict rules on hygiene, (signs on every machine) have sanitizing stations everywhere and encourage those who don't use towels to sanitize their equipment. Signs to unload their machines and put weights back to their original place. Signs for one machine at a time, using multiple machines at once is unfair to everybody else who attends. Re-organizing the weights every morning for those who can't read or don't care. Make all of this clear in a new sign up terms and conditions and come down on people if they don't follow the gym rules. Buy new Yoga/workout mats and consider that on average you have 30-50 people at the Gym, so might need more than 2. Turn down the music a bit to give clients space to think, also customer friendly jukebox would be nice so you can gauge what music clients are into to tailor your playlists to more client based music. That is all.

Derrimut, why are you such a letdown? Always think of renovation and don't think of the people who go to your gym. Is there a legitimate answer to why group fitness classes are being written off? The Zumba and other classes have built a community and now you have left us no choice but to stop supporting your gym. Giving one week's notice and not informing the instructors is very unprofessional. Mental health is not the priority here.

I used to love this gym, the price, the convenience and the classes. This week has been a shock to me, upping the membership price by almost DOUBLE (I paid $249 last year, now it's $449) AND cutting all classes without even warning members or explaining the rationale. Thomastown members are now paying more for less, which is ridiculous. I checked with other locations and they had no idea about the change of direction to cut classes - why is it only Thomastown that are missing out? If it's a future direction of the company it should be clearly explained to the members and allow for contract changes for those who signed up purely on the basis that they will be able to do group training. Coolaroo is NOT an option for many who live around the Thomastown location; I've been reading the other reviews here and am apalled by the lack of empathy, clarity or explanation by the Derrimut team. Truly disappointing experience.

The most chaotic start to a membership I’ve ever had. No tag upon signing up as they were allegedly ‘so busy’ they had run out, so had to go up and check in everyday for the first week. After the first week, was given a tag and told it’ll work after 24 hours. Next day, tag still not working and told to wait another 24 hours. Next day tag still not working and told only the manager can ‘fix’ whatever issue is on my account. Next day told it’s their system that’s broken. Turns out a ‘stop’ was put on my account and it needed to be lifted for the tag to work. Not a big deal, just annoying. Things to note: - great facilities, however never enough cable attachments or attachments in general to operate the equipment. Either that or they’re broken or out of service. So spend half of the time walking around looking for something to use the equipment with. - Mens toilets smell awful, shower and toilets in together so smells like steamy poo and a mixture of god knows what else. Had to cover my nose cause I was gagging. - General discourse within staff, no one knows what the hell is going on and getting a different explanation from someone every day in terms of my account issues. Manager is overbearing and needs to work on her people skills, I can tell that sales are more of a priority than client experience.

I’m very annoyed at the fact that you are stopping the Zumba fitness classes at the Thomastown location. Me and a few of my friends took membership only for the Zumba classes. We really enjoyed them and looked forward for the next class every day as this kept us going and feeling physically fit. Please please please do NOT stop the Zumba classes. If the Zumba room is not available, please provide us another spot at Derrimut to continue our Zumba classes.

I visited the gym and was disappointed to find the men's toilets, especially the disabled ones, in a deplorable state with no change from the photo posted a week ago. Despite ongoing renovations, basic hygiene is neglected: no sweat towels used by others or sanitary equipment wipe-downs are available. Lack of cleanliness needs urgent attention

good gym, just the mens toilets are very dirty, pee on the floor, no vents so always smells like poo, sauna never cleaned, MOLD in the toilet brushes, a lot of the machines are always out of order, never fixed, music so loud always (even at 1am-5am) i understand its a gym and loud music is good but its crazy ear deafening loud, especially when youre near the speakers, some other minor complaints are people screaming insanely loud when doing sets and taking their shirts off like douches. But its a gym so what can i expect. 1/5 stars. Pros: kinda cheap,

There is clearly a management issue with this location of derrimut and it needs to be fixed. 1)poorly enforced work boots policy, some staff care some don’t. Management needs to make sure policies are enforced uniformly. Too many times I have walk around mud all over the gym floor. 2)Never any tissues or anti-bacterial to wipe hands and equipments. Some of these tissues holder are broken and tissues are just left on the floor. Management does not seem be interested in fixing this issue as it has been around months. How hard is to COMMUNICATE to maintenance to fix a couple of new tissue holders? 3)men’s toilets are always a terrible mess, they don’t have any action plan in place to make sure patrons look after the facilities, nor do they have an action plan to block off toilets that require attention they just leave it to patrons to decide if it’s safe to use. In the past I have witnessed the same urine stains few days in a row… I have stopped using their bathrooms altogether because lack of attention. It’s would be very easy to blame a lack of stewardship from the community, but really it’s the job of management to enforce policies that help prevent misuse and have timely attention to biohazards in place . 4)lack of communication and customer service skills from upper management. Staff on the whole here are friendly, but it is clear from my own experience, experience of friends and other reviews that management is not friendly and not interested in communicating with patrons, which is a significant problem during this turbulent period caused by the renovation. For example by patrons particularly highlight this point about not being consulted on changes with the group classes…. I have never seen during this period any member of staff approaching actively asking patrons their recent experiences. Management doesn’t seem to care enough to hear if patrons are inconvenienced. 5. Pin section is now a shambles. None of the most important pin machines have been replaced; an increased number of calf machines and abdominal machines have taken the place of key leg extension/curl machines, chest machines and back machines. No communication from management about whether if more are on the way, but these machines nonetheless should have not been taken out until they were replaced. Clearly, a management issue.

An overall mixed feel and experience at this gym, very affordable membership, Pilates and sauna being free with the membership is awesome. Some great new machines, however a lot of broken equipment and attachments left everywhere making it hard to train, I’ve had my membership for 2 years and this has gotten worse over time. Weights absolutely scattered everywhere and even missing. Toilets can be unbearable at times also.

I'm deeply frustrated and angry about the changes at Derrimut! As a loyal attendee of Zumba and body pump classes, I'm appalled that they're permanently canceling them to make room for a posing area, which seems unnecessary. People can pose outside of class hours! This decision is alienating many customers and harming our community's diversity. I used to adore this gym, but now I despise it due to their shortsightedness.

I'm so upset and disappointed hearing that pump classes, spin, zumba & body combat will no longer be running at thomastown gym anymore. I was originally excited with the renovation as the instagram posted a video saying group fitness room will have new floorings but I feel they have lied to us and it's all about making profit. They don't think about the members who signed up for the membership as we have built a great community and they are just taking this away without giving us any notice. I had to find out from our instructor that this is the last week they are running the classes in the group fitness room and turning our group fitness room to the second pilates/posing room. it's just ridiculous that they choose to have a posing room over group fitness room as they want free media advertisment. I only joined the membership as the gym offered a variety of group classes but now that the have removed group fitness room classes I'm limited to boot camp and boxing only. I know management will say we can access other derrimut gym for the group fitness classes but it's not convenient for some of us if I live 2 mins away from the thomastown gym. I actually signed up with this membership purely because of group classes and I need a range of classes. So I really hope management will reconsider the decision and not be a liar about giving group fitness new floorings, not about making profit from reformer pilates hoping people won't turn up to classes to charge them extra fees and posing room for free advertisment.

This place is a hole; one of the worst maintained, grottiest, most broken-down gyms i’ve ever been to. Pros: - It’s close to where I live - It’s cheap AF Cons: - This place is always dirty. Women’s bathrooms are reasonably well-maintained but aside from that, the floor is filthy and grime in different areas is left for days before it’s cleaned up. gum stuck to the floor everywhere around the racks?? - Untidiest gym i’ve ever been to with the worst culture of people refusing to re-rack their weights i’ve ever seen. I see multiple people a day loading plates onto bars, finishing their sets, then just dropping the bar and walking away. People drop dumbbells where they’re standing and move on. The DISRESPECT. Must be too heavy for them to put back 😢 - There is a severe lack of handles/attachments for cable machines. Handle racks are often mostly empty, yet I often can’t find what I need even after searching all the cable machines too. Where the handles/attachments at?? - Everything is broken. Don’t know when the last time an equipment audit was done here but it couldn’t have been recently. Benches missing pins, cable machines missing pins, water fountains broken or out of order for days and sometimes WEEKS, machines missing pads (i’m looking at you seated hamstring curl), rubber stoppers/bump guard things obliterated. People resort to grabbing random pins lying around that have broken off their original machine. Possibly posing a safety risk? - I was going to add points for the Ladies’ gym, which I used for the first time the other day, but then I used the toilets in that area and there was not a scrap of toilet paper in any of them. I’ve been using this gym four times a week for the last 6 months. My frame of reference for all this are the Gepps Cross and Norwood Derrimut Gyms. Both of those locations are usually spotless, well-maintained, with a respectful, tidy gym culture. What went wrong Thomastown?

Ive been going to this gym since 2017 and recently as they’ve had promotions the gym has become so busy and it’s very overcrowded with not having enough equipments ! Mostly broken and not begin fixed on time ! Even asked why theres no handles in the gym and got told they’ve gone missing! It’s been like that for the past month and haven’t seen any improvements , also the bathrooms are so sticky and this shows that the gym is not begin taken care of! I guess they’re going to need to have a more strict policy, I’ve even seen people walking to the gym and putting the hands in them gym bag just because they’re going to use them in the next hour! We need someone to do something before it’s too late !!!

If you'd opt for a no-contract membership they want to charge a one off $10 'admin fee' alongside a $15 every quarter for 'direct debit fees'. Hilarious. In re to the response provided: I am not stating that I haven't been made aware of the terms and understand that they apply to any member but I'd be keen to know what the admin fee consists of. Same goes for the quarterly direct debit fee which seems to be a fee charged by the subcontractor managing the direct debit process, which is then being passed on to the member.

I keep trying to give this gym a go but it seems to get worse every time. Main issues: - the gym goers. Think shameless shirtless selfies in the main gym mirrors and screaming the roof down doing tricep exercises. Rude men who shoulder you and have no consideration for the space of others. This gym has a SERIOUS culture problem. - no one reracks weights or puts equipment back. Dumbbells everywhere. Staff do not police this whatsoever - speaking of staff all of them bar the female cleaners are so rude - never enough cable attachments (ropes, handles) - equipment constantly out of order and taking ages to be fixed Could improve on: - more curved treadmills - more sprint bikes - better equipment in ‘refurbished’ ladies gym (less than two weeks after opening and equipment is already out of order) - have latex bands to use - more stretching classes on offer - better Pilates instructors - turn down the music!!!!!!!!! Positives: - lots of equipment that is generally newer - clean floors - lots of parking All in all maybe this gym should focus more on genuine improvements and making a more respectable culture to improve their reputation. Wasting money on hideous hexagonal lighting and a ridiculous eating area is not wise. But then again the owner drives a yellow Lamborghini with ‘derrimut’ written all over it so I don’t think these people have any idea about smart financial choices or class. In one word: trashy

The quality and quantity of equipment is unquestionable. I have been training at this gym for 2 years now and i cant recall a time where i couldnt find an open squat rack. Now to the negative feedback.. The gym culture is abysmal to say the least. -No one puts their weight away. There are also dumbbells scattered all over the place. So if you are just looking for a 15kg dumbbell just take a stroll around the gym and you'll find it in the most obscure corner. -People never clean up after themselves. -I've yet to see a person use a towel. -People who use multiple machine at the same time. -People taking 4 pairs of dumbbells at peak hour and use them for 30mins. -People who steal the weight off your machine while you're still using it. This is probably the most shocking one. There are multiple times where i was benching/squatting and someone came and took the plates off my machine without even asking.

The most disorganised weight room I’ve ever seen. Can never find a single dumbbell where it was meant to be, 40 kgs in the place of 5s.There’s really no excuse for staff not sorting this out, every other gym (and Derrimut) I’ve been too has managed. I’ve literally never even seen a staff member on the floor. It infuriates me every time I go. Management need to sort it out.

Consistent class cancellations and no reason given. You ask for a reason and they don't respond. Quick to take money off you and not provide what they say they will. Heaps of equipment laid around, lots of tripping hazards. Staff don't appear to want to help/resolve your concerns.

The cables not being repaired(and more constantly becoming out of order) is starting to become a joke. Especially at peak, it's nearly impossible to get a pair of cables. I have pretty bad tennis elbow so most of my workout has to be done with cables, for the last few months I've had to spend half of my workout waiting for machines.

The place been under renovation for weeks if not months and it still looks like a construction site 🙄... There is no space to even do stretch and proper workout. I am so sick of apologising to movers or pilates instructor cause I am in the way of their classes or work to move machine around. It's a total waste of our money for membership. What's the point of paying a gym under renovation that can't be used properly. The toilet has been demolish and there is no sign of a temporary one, and to be honest the staff doesn't look too friendly to even asked. Looks like a bunch of girls from "mean girls" movie instead of friendly people that greets you as you come in. Only other reason I can think of is that the owner/company are financially incapable to shut the place down and do the renovation all at once.

Derrimut is a gym with a lot of ambition but it fails to get the basics right. I first signed up in the beginning of February 2023 for 12 months, back then the gym was okay but it had its issues. The equipment was new which was good, but I found that nobody was putting their weights away and that at times the music was far too loud to the point where I was struggling to hear what was playing in my noise cancelling headphones. I tolerated it because the membership was cheap and the gym was close to where I lived. Fast forward to February 2024 and I have now let my membership expire due to extensive issues with this gym that are getting worse over time. The gym has alsobeen in a state of renovation for months now which is very much a safety hazzard and one should really question whether the should be open whilst doing such extensive renovations. The state of the toilets and bathrooms here have always been unhygenic but it got significantly worse during the time of the renovations where many of the toilers have been closed of. If you browse the reviews, somebody posted a video of the disabled toilets which the men have had to use due to the closure of their bathroom and is in complete dissarry. These matters aside, the biggest issue I think this gym has is a culture issue and that stems down from extremely poor gym management. This issue manifests itself in the fact that most gym goers here never put away their weights or equipment after using it. This leaves weights, dumbbells and all sorts of equipment laying around everywhere. This makes it very difficult to train, to locate weights/equipment and to determine what equipment is in use versus what equipment is free to use. Every gym I have been to in the past members almost always re-racked their weight. Why? Because if they didn't, they would hear about it from the staff members at the gym. Having a few warning signs on the walls saying 'put your weights away' is simply not enough. I previously worked at a gym 8 or 9 years ago, and we were trained to do regular walk arounds to put weights away ourselves, and to speak to gym members reminding them to put their weights away. This is a simple task which the staff at Derrimutt could be doing, but instead they have 3 staff members at any given time manning the desk talking. What's the use of having 3 staff members at the front desk but nobody to actually walk around the gym and make sure it is in order? People not putting their weights away is a serious issue and it shows a huge lack of respect for other gym goers. It creates confusion in the gym because: 1. You never know if the equipment you want to use is taken or in use because there's still weights on it. 2. When you do use the equipment, you have to unstack anywhere from 50kg to 200kgs of weights before you can start using it the machine. 3. You can never find the equipment or dumbbells you want to use because they are all over the place. My final complaint is that there is not enough pins for all the machines, meaning you sometimes have to go fishing for pins to use the machine you want. It's truly a shame because a gym like Derrimut Thomastown has a lot of potential to be a great gym. It needs to vastly improve in the gym culture and the attitude of the members, but this has to be a top down approach which requires management to actually care about fixing these issues, the staff actually have to enforce the rules and policies, and gym members who disrespect the rules need to be called out for it. They also need to finish of their renovations and work on ensuring that their bathroom facilities are cleaned regularly. I barely touched on the hygenie issues aside from the beginning but all I can say is that it is bad. I wanted to love this gym but I couldn't. Maybe in the future if they fix their issues I could return as a member, but for now I have let my membership run out and I train somewhere that is clean and where members respect others and put their weights away.

Throughout my Membership time at Derrimut Thomastown I have noticed a substantial amount of improvement in regard to Customer Service and Facility Hygiene. As soon as I walk through the door I am greeted by the friendly staff and made to feel welcomed. I love this place and will continue to renew my Membership here! Special shout-out to Maria, Jasmine and Chloe for their Excellent Customer Service! :)

I’ve tried multiple derrimut gym locations but thomastown by far is the best, the staff members are absolutely fantastic mainly love talking to Britney every single morning she greets everyone with a beautiful smile, she has such a beautiful energy in the morning, her Dj skills are on point that just sets you off to having a good lifting session and I’ve seen her talk with other clients too, she is very professional and helps big time with knowing every information we need about our gym membership and costs and how to get the best deal personally she helped me big time, she is very alert too doesn’t let no one enter the gym using someone else’s gym card and I was there when it happened 😅🔥❤️💪

I want to mention how amazing Kristie's reformer pilates class is. She always makes it great and is inclusive from beginner to advanced.

Updating review after visiting again-july2021 (now they have added dumbells/rods) it more enough to have a proficient workout thanks. 🏋️‍♂️ Previous review (Can’t find weight specially for biceps and triceps (less rod and less dumbells nothing in appropriate place) you need to search all things by roaming almost in your workout time.🤯)

Excuses excuses excuses, whenever you raise anything there’s always an excuse. Today what’s the 2nd warm day of spring, I asked for the fans to be turned on to help circulate the air, the excuse was the power points were not working and they were waiting for an electrician, the gym is full of tradies, how is it possible they waiting for a Tradie and they’re working on it? The change rooms stink, cause there’s no active ventilation, the vents installed are static vents that don’t actively suck the air out with any fans to take the steam from the showers out of the male change rooms. The shower floors are always dirty, if you’re not standing directly under the shower head the floors get slimey. When I raised about the doors on the showers not locking properly, all I got was an excuse, we’re waiting for trades. Not good enough

Very spacious gym with lots of equipment. Everything you need from dumbbells, lifting platforms, plenty of squat racks, cable machines and rows of cardio. The gym is well lit too and has good ventilation. I would definitely visit again for a workout.

just one thing need to point out. Please clean the ventilation Except for that matter, this gym is definitely best gym ever in my 15yrs of gym experience. Considering their price and the quality of all the facility, I cannot have complaint:)

The gym it's self is by far the best I've ever seen. It's big, all the equipment is new and the patrons are friendly. The only negative unfortunately is a big one, the male change rooms have little to no ventilation and everytime I took a shower there I was overwhelmed with the smell of phesies and I have contracted COVID from being in there like 4 times up to this point. Also the change rooms are extremely small so it's very uncomfortable in there.

Love that the gym is spacious. The car park looks deceiving as it’s full most times on arrival. But the gym is so big, you don’t realise how many people are in side. Love that there is a ladies gym, and the fitness classes look like worth a try. Machinery in the place, are of a great variety. Staff are nice, most of them do greet you on the way in and out. Which adds a little sense of community to the place. Otherwise you feel like just a number and business to them. So shout out to the few staff who do actually acknowledge your arrival and departure.

I have been going here for years, I gym before work so the shower facilities are important to me. For the past month I have had to have cold showers daily in the mornings before work despite alerting staff on almost every occasion. I have been advised that this will be sorted but it has continued to be a problem. I am currently looking for a new gym in the area as it’s getting too cold in winter to subject myself to cold showers everyday.

Toilet was dirty, there was no lifting platform for weightlifting or powerlifting, some of the patrons were rude and aggressive. I was just politely telling a guy who i agreed to share the squat rack with to just be aware and not stand close, as I'm doing the oly lifts and if i have to bail he could get hurt, and he proceeded to yell at me and force me to move from where i was at originally, or else he's gonna report me or whatever, it was at the point where i thought he was gonna get physical, so i just moved because it wasn't worth it. It's close to uni and so i thought i could head by after school, but no chance, not again.

I have started my membership in coolaroo but decided to go to thomastown as once I did in January. When it was in January it wasn’t good as felt the place looked old and okay ish gym. Decided to go today as a result I’m going to start going to thomastown as it is a bit closer than coolaroo for me. It has new construction and it’s very clean now and organised so I will definitely be coming back here

I’ve been to many gyms over the years and feel that in addition to quality gym equipment and cleanliness of a gym, customer service is something that I highly value. Every time I’ve attended the Derrimut gym in Thomastown, I am greeted with such a welcoming and warm greeting by one of the most awesome staff Ecem, who not only welcomes me but checks in on how I am. In addition, another young male staff member who also provides great customer service. You guys are awesome!!! Love the vibe and enthusiasm guys.

Been going here for a few years now and just never bothered to leave a review… Overall, the gym is large with lots of space and equipment and is 24:7 which is not always easy to find. It’s kept pretty clean most of the time but hard to say on super busy nights like Tuesdays. The culture and vibe are full spec. Thomo though, so if you’re not about it then it’s probably not for you - probably a testament to the crowd though rather than the Gym itself. Saying that, everyone is generally pretty friendly and obliging. Loses one star because often when equipment is out-of-action it’s out for a really long time - looking at you leg press machine! 5 stars goes out to the on-site staff who do try to keep weights stacked and neat when they have a chance, and are always friendly - especially that one girl who is always there and during the oddest of times, but never fails to give you a chirpy greeting and goodbye - give her a raise! Finally, not sure about their direct debit options but their yearly pricing is really well priced for what you get especially when on sale so no complaints there.

Reiterating a comment I read recently, this Derrimut has the best customer service, always a greeting when entering and can have a chat to the girls on the weekend. Anastasia is very cool and a pleasure to talk to, pretty cute too😉 Frankston Derrimut has good customer service too. Oakleigh could learn from these gyms, you barely get acknowledgment of any kind there. Good for you girls!!

Love training here. Staff are always nice and people just go in, train and get out. My only gripe is the male toilets. There needs to be better rotation on the cleaners because them toilets are chaos. Only time it seems clean is on Monday. I come early and finish early, so seeing toilet paper all over the place, including the showers is off. Cleaning needs to be more frequent, especially since its a 24 hr gym.

Looked for the only two handles in the gym for twenty minutes today, went to the cable machines down the back and the machine is broken, waited another 5 minutes to use another cable machine just for that machine to be broken as well and when I finally find a cable machine that worked one of the only two handles in the gym snapped. Need more attachments and care for this gym

I’m really outraged and pissed off with this Derrimut! I’m a regular who’s been coming for Zumba and body pump and they are cancelling the classes for ever to build a posing room which Is ridiculous! People can pose in their own time before or after the classes! Why throw away lots customers of customers and ruin a community and ruin the diversity! I use to love this gym now I hate it because of their stupidity.

I originally joined Derrimut for the group fitness classes and they have kept me coming back. To say I’m disappointed that group fitness is being cancelled is a huge understatement. The lack of communication and consultation with the members and instructors is disrespectful. Why can’t you just say it is being cancelled? To say that it is being paused until further notice is a cop out. This is the same thing you did at Airport West 9 months ago. Management will say that they empathise but they really don’t. What are my options given that Coolaroo is ladies only? Drive across town to Airport West? Oh wait, they cancelled group fitness there too! Group fitness is going because they want a posing room, a second Pilates room, plunge pools and a basketball court. The posing room caters for all the influencers who come to the gym for 10 minutes, take some photos and leave. The plunge pools are going to be a huge hygiene issue, I won’t be having a plunge in the water infused with sweat, urine, dead skin cells and bodily fluids of other people. The basketball court is so small and the ceiling is so low that it is pointless. The biggest driver behind group fitness is going is money. The second Pilates room gives them just that. I’d be very interested to see how much money they make from cancellations and no shows. It must be good enough to turf group fitness which has an incredibly strong following which has been cultivated over many years by the dedicated instructors. Don’t get me started about the toilets which are somehow more disgusting than Flinders Street Station toilets. Always smells like excrement and mould. That’s an incredible achievement. I would leave a zero star review if Google would allow.

I cannot find the words to express my disappointment and disgust with the way derrimut management has dealt with the cancellation of group fitness classes. I, along with many others have taken a membership here solely due to the solace and community the group fitness classes provide. The lack of empathy and utter disregard toward the wellbeing of instructors and members who do group fitness is very evident in the way management revealed this change, by giving just a week to the instructors and members to ‘deal with’ this change. This lack in judgement will be an indefinite stain, with derrimut losing many loyal members.

I’m absolutely livid and fed up with Derrimut! I’ve been a dedicated attendee of their Zumba and body pump classes, only to have them abruptly canceled for the sake of building a posing room, which is utterly absurd. Why disrupt the routines of loyal customers and jeopardize the sense of community and diversity we’ve cultivated? I used to cherish this gym, but now I’m disgusted by their thoughtlessness.
