For those sitting on the fence about joining a Jiu Jitsu gym, I can't recommend Leverage enough. For people like me (I joined nearing 10 months ago at 42 years old) and for people from all walks in life, this place caters for everyone who wants to train and learn how to properly defend yourself as a priority. The culture here is very welcoming and everyone is very supportive to help each other improve and progress. The head instructor Phil and all the other instructors are not only awesome at teaching the techniques (fundamentals and advanced) but also great mentors. I was also a fence sitter but I'm grateful I've took the plunge and now call Leverage Jiu Jitsu Academy home.

Been training here since we've moved to Melbourne. It's a great community that offers a safe space to learn, train, and have fun! The instructors have a great mastery of the gentle art and have an efficient and effective way of delivering instruction that makes it the perfect place to learn. Phil and his crew lead the academy well and also foster growth in character for students of all ages on and off the mats.

I have been a part of the Leverage Family for years, in that time i have lived and travelled and trained over seas at many academies and i have seen all sorts. Leverage easily makes it into one of the best academies i have trained at world wide. the knowledge and depth of Jiu Jitsu Technique Phill has is phenomenal. his approach to stand up and self defence has literally saved my life! but the culture of the whole academy from bottom to top is like a big family, my son and partner both train with Leverage and I have many friends who I've recommended their kids and adult classes too. five stars isn't enough in my book you will be hard pressed to find a better academy anywhere in Melbourne let alone the world

This is the best Jiu Jitsu academy!! The instructors are magnificent, highly experienced and very accommodating! Felt very welcomed from day one and everyone is keen in delivering their knowledge at its best. Glad for taking my Jiu Jitsu journey at this academy.

A fantastic place to train! I was in the area and dropped in for a few training sessions - Phil was really knowledgeable, everyone was welcoming, the facilities were great. A really high standard of jiu jitsu!

Leverage is a great place to train, and all the instructors led by Phil are fantastic & easy to deal with. They go in to great detail with everything and are easy to get along with. Couldn't imagine myself training anywhere else.
