Came with hubby to this BSL Burnside store on a Monday, the afternoon of 12/11/2018: the caucasian woman (manager or employee) "told me off" as if I were a little child. That was when I went to quickly check the butter dish behind her, just a little on her right, whilst she was serving hubby at the cash register. There was no barrier and no signage in place, and I did not put myself directly behind her and inside her "office" as she claims I did. She was irate! And adamant that no one should go inside someone's "office"! This is quite a poor excuse of a person in "Customer Service". At an age where customer service is a priority, and appropriate and courteous communication should be in place, she sure lacks the proper decorum and training! It is sad for a 61 year-old to be scolded in public! So demeaning! Hubby and I, embarrassed, pointed out that there should have been a "clear barrier" to keep customers at bay. Before the new lay-out, there was a clear boundary in place. Besides, we donate goods to Brotherhood! Why the ill-mannered treatment? Was it because we are Asian and old-looking?! Do we look like thieves?! Anyway, we went there to buy a Mexican hat for our Carnival Legend cruise the following day. We felt so let-down and disappointed. Hope this won't happen to anyone and that this "review" will improve their dealings with customers. Besides, staff should have proper customer service training before being placed in the front line. I know how customer service should be as I used to be a nursing supervisor before my retirement... As this experience is quite appaling--especially on Australian shore where there should be "zero tolerance" on bullying and harrassment--I just cannot let this pass.

An average op shop that seriously struggles with replenishment of new and decent stock. Parking isn't great, items sit there for months on end but worth a check in from time to time. Occasionally will be given a random discount which is nice. Pricing is alright for the most part, i think like many BSL stores the "Something Special" range can be inconsistent among stores. There is a man who volunteers there with curly, sort of messy, brown hair(sometimes wears a bandanna I think) who is super friendly and appreciative. Shout out to you Mister and thank you for the discounts and excellent service, You make it worth coming back, even if more often than not there isn't much to see comapred to the last time.

I went today (17th June 2021) at around 2:40pm. The guy who served me at the registers (i think his name was Donny if i remember correctly, I'm not too sure) but i recall him saying he was Italian to the customers before me. Anyway, point is, he was absolutely amazing. The eftpos machine had stopped working, and he was genuinely concerned that I stood there waiting (i didn't mind at all). I've worked in customer service for over 7 years, and I was really impressed with his sincerity and kindness. I went to op shops in Brunswick and Moonee Ponds prior and the customer service here was a standout. I just wanted to say thank you, you are great, and you really left a positive impression that had a lasting impact. Your efforts are noticed and they make a difference.

An amazing op-shop. Lots of variety and the furniture very reasonably priced. Have met and been served by some awesome workers there - Mary, Doug, Ray, Owen , Helen, Kamila and Carlos - they are truly wonderful people. Lots of great bargains to be had.

One of the few op shop selling at great prices. Clothing items are mostly priced at one flat rate by type, such as pants, tops, dress, jackets. There is a wide variety of books, furniture, clothing, accessories and knick knacks. Clothing isn't sorted by size, often racks are full of clothes but mostly smaller sizes. Stay dedicated and look through each item, you'll find good pieces. This is my op shop of choice to donate to. The area has gotten busy and parking is often hard to find.

Very poor customer service. Went to donate clothes and got YELLED AT in the parking lot by a lady smoking on a milk crate 😅 For people working for a charity they are very angry people. Tip- don't put your donations in the "wrong spot". Will donate elsewhere next time, thanks!

Before this current lockdown me and my partner went to the brotherhood to see if we could help a charity & get some bargains, we both have medical exemptions that state we cannot wear a mask we went to brotherhood and grabbed a fair bit of items to purchase nobody said anything to us regarding the mask at all until the manager Donny came over and said weres your mask? My boyfriend said we have medical exemptions. He insisted we see them which is illegal, my boyfriend said we don't have to show you and he basically said there's no way we have medicals we are both young and fit & took all our items off us and refused to serve us, this is extremely poor customer service & this is medical discrimination, you wouldn't ask someone why they are in a wheelchair so why ask us? Not everybody is doing the wrong thing, a big clap to the manager donny who took our stuff, refused to serve us & harrased us in store, this guy needs a reality check his extremely rude & we have made several complaints regarding him. We will never shop here again or support this charity when we would go almost weekly. Businesses like this are suffering but are turning customers away who cannot wear a mask, good luck.

I had terrible experience today at the shop. The lady was at the counter. She was so racist and rude. She shouldn’t be voluntaries.

Friendly staff who are happy to answer any questions, great selection of Cd's, DVD's, Video tapes, Vinyl and cassette tapes. very organised and neat, All staff know where items might be located, easy place to walk into and know where you need to go to get a specific item (sectioned off well).

Paid $120 (plus delivery) for a desk. It's been so roughly pulled down the locking mechanisms have been pulled out in some places leaving it unable to be put back together and is structurally unsafe for use. Was offered, and used, in store credit for the amount.

Terrible customer service especially the manager. She was very rude and changing the price of the materials on the higher side after looking at the person. Charity workers should be polite and kind.

Came in to support a good cause, only to be greeted with a rude attendant without a care in the world for her behaviour. The back story; There was a mess in the kid's toy section before we walked into the store. Within 5 minutes of being in the store, an elderly staff member approached my little one demanding that they clean up the mess. I approached her and expressed my thoughts on her behaviour. Out of respect, we cleaned up the mess, I spoke with counter staff about the incident, and left the store.

One of my favourite op shops in Melbourne! Clean, well laid out, excellent prices, lovely staff. Huge clothing and shoe section, lots of good quality furniture and artwork, and plenty of bric a brac/household items. Definitely worth a visit.

Was in store today and wanted to purchase a 3 tiered plate priced at $10, it wasnt sturdy & I asked manager if he could take a couple of dollars off, he refused. Im on disability payment & because it was shaky & not sturdy, i asked, he refused again. He gives discounts to who he wants to. A lady beside me heard the whole conversation, and paid the $10 for me, he had the nerve to turn around and say you got it for free. He doesnt know any compassion, and is he really qualified to "manage". When u r struggling its difficult, but i dont mind paying if its in good nick, this was faulty, but he just didnt want to take $2 off. In saying that, I have witnessed him discounting for other customers on non faulty goods. He also said to me, "we cant give discounts to everyone". The day will come when the "manager" will understand! In the meantime, he will dicount items to his preference of customers, discriminating disabled customers. I think he should be reviewed, being disabled is not a choice, discriminating is.

One of the better op shops in the Western suburbs. Shop here quite regularly and have always had a pleasant experience. The new manager Michael is very service oriented. Greets customers and is always helpful when needed. The shop is kept clean and has a lot of good bargains. Kudos to Michael and his team of dedicated volunteers.
