Huge double storey Kathmandu in mel cbd. Having lift in right side and staircase in left side when you enter the shop. Lots of stocks and varieties compared to other Kathmandu stores especially for hiking shoes/boots. Selling lots of clothes, camping gears and accessories too. Service is ok. Staffs can be more approachable and attentive. The security uncles were both very nice and friendly though :)

I love Kathmandu and over the years have purchased quite a lot of hiking outwear and boots from various Kathmandu outlets including this store which is conveniently located, close to Bourke Street Mall and Flinders Street station. This store carries a big range and the staff here is super knowledgeable and always friendly and helpful.

Exceptional quality of clothing and usually excellent customer service, thats why I keep returning to the store, but my reason for the 4 stars is because of poor customer service behaviour today. I attended the Kathmandu store at 385 Bourke st Melbourne on the 2/5/22 at 11:30am. I entered the ground floor store and was looking at jackets in the mens section. I tried a jacket on and then left it on top of the other jackets still on the coat hanger and I was a few feet away looking at something else. When a male store employee approached the jacket and began to put it away, I immediately approached the male employee and I told him, I was going to buy that jacket, he then just shoved the jacket and coat hanger forcefully into me and walked away. He appeared to be rather moody and aggressive for some reason? I approached another male employee and asked him who the manager was at the store? because I wanted to speak to someone, in relation to this incident and he directed me upstairs. I then approached another male upstairs, who told me his name was Max and I explained the incident to him. He didn't seem interested, not even bothering to ask who this male employee staff member was that I was referring to? He just brushed it off and said that, he'd look into it and didn't even apologise? Its a shame that this incident occurred, because usually the level of customer service is excellent at Kathmandu, but this particular incident was a let down. I'm giving my feedback because I'm a paying and returning customer to that store and don't deserve to be treated disrespectfully, by any of the employees that work there.

Very poor customer service Very disappointed I purchased 2 jackets for myself and my husband around $800 and the way they talk and communicating with customers really shameful the way they talk and treat me is very bad. The people who is in front cashiers they don’t know how to welcome or treat to customer and give a service. All staff are almost same very lazy and if we ask something they keep ignoring and answering very rude way. Even not trying to help. The girl who did the cashiering even don’t smile or greet she is like a robot and even after taking money she even didn’t tell anything I was waiting in the cashier until she tells it’s ready to take but she just put away my bag with jackets without telling me even a simple thank how rude is these people who work there. I think they need a proper training how to give a good customer service. Please don’t go to this store it’s terrible customer service

Absolutely worst customer service. Like many people commented earlier, the staffs wont attend even if you request for help. I went to the store to purchase a puffed jacket and I returned it because I hated the entire experience. I was hurrying up thinking the store closed at 5 but they advised its closing at 6 and were unhappy because of the extended hours. Only one person named Wendy took some interest and helped me. The others ignored me and acted as if they were rearranging an already organised rack. Worst of all, a staff directed me to another one because she had some other work to do and hid in the storage at ground level. I ended up dealing with Kate, who was super rude and restless. When she came to help, she was having this weird attitude and tone and asked “how can i help”? i said I’m looking for a jacket with a different size.. She said “So, how can i help?”.. And kept cutting me off saying “ how can i help “ 4 times. She thought it was cool. When I asked her more questions about certain collections in your website she got more annoyed and said this is all we have. Since I was browsing through the collection for more than 15 mins. She saw me and remarked “ Oh, you’re still here?!” When I went to bill she remarked randomly that if someone had walked 15 mins before closing I get irritated because we dont get paid for the extra time we stay and she was unhappy with the extended time. She commented that the CEO had tried to shop one day and realised that the store closed early. Hence, they extended the hours. I wasn’t sure how to react to that. Prior to this, i had gone to DFO south wharf and found a staff named Josh who was also not very helpful. I have also called to enquire about store timing, he was super blunt in the phone saying DFO shuts at 6 but we close at 5. So if you want come to store. All your staffs lack basic manners and require customer service training. Overall, it was very bad experience. I will never recommend this store or brand to anyone!

I've bought a few things from here now and it's usually always great. However, I went early the other day and the store didn't open on time. I waited till 10 minutes past what it said on the door and then I had to go to sort some stuff out. I returned later in the day, service was great as usual and I got what I went for. Always good value winter gear and it's good for on my bike too.

Great sustainability initiatives from Kathmandu – Kathman-redu! It should be available in more stores and online.

Thank you too, Rua. On october 28th for great customer service, he went out and above to help us with their partner store, on longsdale. He was checking for some stock we wanted. But we changed our minds, and we ended up going for some bright coloured jackets from this store, which is what i wanted instead of anything dark and boring. We are tavelling from Perth and have enjoyed some courteous manners while we are here. It's good to hear it from other parts of Australia too. Just like home 🙂 also we had been to Kathmandu on Spencer a day before . I highly recommend both staff on Bourke and Spencer. Thank you for making our time in Melbourne pleasant. I ordered a $299 bag online and picked up from here via click and collect - obviously expected to be given new and sealed item but on the way home I noticed I was given was pretty grubby floor stock or a customer return rather than a new item as ordered. Not cool on many levels. Update: they were able to swap this over for another bag which felt a little newer but this one also had dirt/dust under the straps in places that wouldn’t have amassed just from sitting on the storefront shelves. Not sure what to conclude from this but I guess if you want products that haven’t been handled or potentially aren’t customer returns then don’t use Click & Collect from a physical store. I am not usually this picky about products that will eventually get banged up but they just didn’t feel like new stock to me at all.

A large store and friendly staffs with 2 levels, which is bigger than a usual Kathmandu store in Melbourne. Check out the storewide 40% discount in July.

Really helpful knowlegeable authentic staff.. l never felt rushed and l took quite awhile to make a decision on my hiking boots.. lm so pleased with my investment..

Visited today looking for a pair of good sandals. The sandals were great.. not on sale or any discount, but they’re comfortable and good design; on the other hand, i wasn’t happy about the service. It was around 5pm, wasn’t busy at the time. Few staff was around, chatting or checking stock..etc. One male staff was helping one customer find his shoes, so I waited for a while until I walked to someone else to ask for the pairs. In the end I decide to buy those, and walked to the counter to pay. The two staff continued chatting even though I was already standing in front of them, ready to pay. I asked if there was another new pair because the ones I tried were on display. She just said that was the last pair, without checking the system. Hm. It just didn’t feel right.

Great range of jackets, I did call up yesterday to ask for a Benmore 5in1 Jacket in the light night/night colour in a size Medium the girl said they have it, and today I popped in to their store to purchase it she said doesn’t have it in stock, I was disappointed they should’ve double checked if they have it before I come and it was a waste of time coming down a long distance.

Big store with great friendly staffs

Just got a luggage scale from these guys. It was faulty, with an extreme minute screw to unplug the battery every time i use. Anyways i took the pains once and twice to do that, but still it was going on low battery. Reached out to them, the staff was extremely rude and inconsiderate. According go the lady each time I should do that, i wish i could ask her to unplug her phones or Ipads battery if she was not using it. I travel quite often and its not worth the pains.

I believed Kathmandu would help the customers by understanding their concerns and providing the return or exchange, if required. A good jacket worth AUD600 that we bought from Kathmandu showed poor quality material. The jacket was bought less than a year back and has been worn only 7 times. This was the manufacturing defect.

Great store with an upstairs area which allows for lots of stock to be displayed. Customer service was also helpful. Will definitely return to shop here again.
