Just wanted to give a huge THANK YOU to Andy W from the Melbourne City store. This year I have purchased a few things from him and he’s always efficient and friendly and always gives me the best price. Thanks Andy, keep up the fantastic customer service.

A massive thank you to Coll for taking out his time to help me find the perfect lens for my camera. He provided exceptional customer service and expert advice so I know exactly what to buy. Will definitely be purchasing all my camera gear from this store.

It is my first time shop with Ted’s camera and it is really really disappointing. First is when I ordered my Fuji-film camera, there is no indication that it is order placed with suppliers and it shows there was stock in one is its store. Second is I have been told i will get my product by August which means I need to wait for two months. By August, I was told there is a delay and i need to wait till September. And then they told me there is delay and I will get it on October. Then I turned to another store called digidirect which they not only have the product in stock but also offer at a lower price. Such a disappointing experience with ted’s camera!!

Ted’s Cameras is shop you can always depend on your camera needs. Whether to buy your camera gear or to trade in your old gear to swap with a new one. Well experienced staff members, plenty of stock and well priced. Great service and best price always ! Highly recommended to all who are looking for cameras and photography equipments.

So happy with my experiences here! Shout out to the wonderful Sandra who really went above and beyond for such a small request 💕 I bought in a small fragment of a photo to be scanned, and not only was it scanned through, but the pieces were stitched together and the blemishes on the paper were touched up as well ✨ I’m so beyond happy to have such a perfect digital copy of such an important photo. I’ll definitely be coming back for all of my film needs :D

Bought a camera and was told that it would come within one week or 5 business days. I wanted to buy it in time for my first ever solo travel trip to capture moments on holiday. Purchased on 14th June and called to follow up on progress today - only to be served by terrible and rude customer service by Byron. Very reluctant to help and condescending in tone. I am disappointed with my first camera purchase from one of Australia’s major camera stores. I have still got no ETA - and am very disheartened to continue worrying about whether it will come in time. *edit* Thanks Sue - my order number is RO282822

I am very disappointed in Ted's Camera Store. I bought a Ricoh camera 8 weeks ago and now it sometimes doesn't work. However, I am not being helped. The staff offers to send the camera to the manufacturer, but this does not help me because I am leaving Australia in a week. It is unbelievable and not understandable that I can not exchange this faulty camera. I must therefore advise against buying a camera from Ted's Camera!

Bought a Sony FE 20mm/1.8 - the sales representative was very helpful. Overall good service. Was a bit let down by the fact that I couldn't return the CPL filter which I realised I don't need - I was trying to return it on the same day, but was told I can only exchange it, and the person on the phone was a bit dismissive.

I bought a canon’s g7x3 online, and I just called them asking about if it in stock now. And it’s so cool to hear that I can get it for the next week! BTW, Kevin is so nice to answer my question!!

Andy from the Melbourne City store has given me great service and a great welcome every time. I hired the Nikon z5 for some weeks and then today I purchased a Nikon z6ii along with some accessories. He is a pleasure to deal with and he took plenty of time on the phone and in the store to help me figure out what the best deal was for me. Feels great to know that whenever I have camera problems/situations I can get great service here. Thanks Andy!

Purchased a 2nd hand DSLR last month from Teds. John was very helpful and knowledgeable throughout the whole process and really helped me get setup with my gear, keeping in mind my budget. Could not have been more helpful.

A big call out to Dylan at Ted's Melbourne city store. With his advice and help I was able to get an unbelievable deal on a new Nikon Z6II. He saved me around $2000! From double value for my trade in to a hugely discounted price for the Z6II, it was almost like getting the camera for nothing 😁!

90 minutes of my life I won't get back thanks to Ted's Melbourne. I tried to buy a Fujifilm lens from Ted's last week - I saw the lens was in stock and on-sale at Camera Electronic in Perth, but thought I would try to support the local shop. I sent an email to the Melbourne store just asking if they had stock (it was showing as special order online but potentially in stock in Melbourne), but got no reply. I followed up a few days later with the web chat team who said it was in-stock and they could arrange a price match in-store - and they had even put it aside under my name. Great! So, I drove into the city (40 minutes each way), paid for tolls and parking, walked into the store and waited in line for about five minutes to be served. The salesperson couldn't put the sale through, and had to get the manager over (more waiting), and then I was subjected to the dreaded phone convo with head office (Manager to office: "Are you price matching ? Oh, only if you have to... *chuckles*...") - honestly made me feel like ick and was a massive reminder why I hate setting foot in camera shops. I waited around for another five minutes only to be told they couldn't price match with Camera Electronic because it was -1.3% below their cost (but they would sell it to me for $50 more, price matched with Digidirect). So, yeah, maybe just let me know online that that's the case before I drive into the city, and don't advertise a price match policy on your site. Honestly I probably would have been happy to pay the difference in normal circumstances to support a physical shop, but the whole exchange - from store experience, the phone convo, to the fact that my time and business was absolutely not valued - made me just walk out the door, and 30 seconds later the the lens was ordered from Camera Electronic. A massive waste of my day and definitely burned any chance I'd shop with Ted's in the future. Granted, you would have taken a $15 loss on the sale, but I spent ~$25 on petrol / parking / tolls and 90 minutes of my time because of your mistake. As a working photographer I spend quite a bit on gear and accessories each year as part of the job - never again with Ted's Melbourne though. Thanks team!

Today after going to Australia Post to take and purchase passport pictures for my young Daughter and myself only to have my Daughter's passport photo be incorrect and not meeting specifications, I thought I would try Ted's Camera out. I was so impressed by Sandra and her beautiful spirit. My Daughter could not stop smiling at the camera (she does love the camera) and at Sandra, however we got the shot in the end that meets specifications. More importantly, the service was professional, efficient, friendly, compassionate and kind. I cannot recommend Sandra and the team on Elizabeth Street. Thank you so much from turning my bad customer experience at Australia Post completely around. I will be referring your services and will only be coming to you guys for your services. Keep up the great work!!!!

Be wary when shopping here and don’t let them push you into buying anything hastily. Upon entering the store I was quite literally told to stay where I was (at the counter) by an Asian lady and made to feel that I couldn’t browse the store whilst she went and retrieved an item for me from another area of the store. Found out later (silly me I should have checked) that the item I bought was $30 cheaper elsewhere even with Ted’s $10 discount and it was also the most expensive version of a battery charger that you could buy. Seems like she went and picked out the most expensive option rather than showing me what my options were.

Don't bother, terrible service. The shop had more staff than customers, yet nobody was being served! The staff were all too busy talking to each other or simply ignoring customers while doing other things.

Very friendly staff and a big store! I went here to buy film and have a look at what film cameras they had. They had quite a big selection of beginner friendly cameras and a couple one that we’re a bit funky a bit of a novelty but would be really great to see some proper film cameras, I know they’re not really made anymore but could be nice? Also would kindly ask for them to stock mini vhs tapes for those that record old school

Initially would have been 1 star as first person I spoke was very unhelpful, more interested in paperwork on his counter. Very dismissive, had no interest at all. Hoping I could find what I wanted spoke to someone else who was great and very helpful.

I was served by Enoch, who was extremely knowledgeable and gave me informed, real-world advice about the products I was interested in. Dude's friendly and just a great person to talk to. The store is very nice and comfortable to browse in and the experience overall left me feeling confident in my purchase and satisfied with the cost! Well done guys, great shop.

Bloke at the front desk with glasses was rude and unhelpful, he should be kept at the back of the store where he can keep to himself. thankfully the young guy in the store actually came around and showed me some cameras and lenses.

Worst camera store in the cbd with highly misleading policies, digidirect and jb hi fi are both much better, initially got a second hand lens after being told they have a 14 day exchange policy and a price match policy, but first they wouldn’t price match a store as it wasn’t local and that they would price match any store in the same street then proceeded to refuse to price match digi direct which was next door as the item was already on sale.

Terribly disorganised. Ordered an item for click and collect, said 2 day wait. Called the store after 2 days as I hadn't heard anything and they couldn't find my order, referred me to head office. Head office said they would get back to me that afternoon. Didn't hear back. Called the store the following day, still couldn't find my order. Called head office and was put on hold while they contacted the store, said it would be ready 2:30pm that day. I called the store at 1:40pm to see if by chance it was ready early as my partner was in the area. Store can't find my order, tells me 'hopefully we will have it today we will let you know', can't give me a date or time, no idea where the item is or when they are getting it in (online stock said 3). Partner heads into the store anyway 2 minutes after i've ended the call with the store and no problem, here is the order. Atrocious. They had the order in 1 minute while i've spent total 40 mins on hold while the staff search for my order multiple times. No idea how things can go so wrong.

I recently visited Ted’s Camera Store to buy a new Nikon camera and a few lenses. Dylan, who assisted me, was exceptional in his service. His extensive knowledge about the products was impressive, and he went above and beyond to ensure I found exactly what I needed for my work. The customer service was outstanding, making my shopping experience truly enjoyable. I’m absolutely happy with my purchase and will definitely return to Ted’s for my future photography needs!

We were told at home (Bendigo) to get our camera fixed it would cost $50 sent to Bali or $350. Thought we had to buy a new one? We were recommend Ted's Cameras and we are so happy with the service and price $136 to fix. Thank you 😁

Good customer service. But they were able to correctly take the baby photo for passport only after 3rd time. I had to visit the store multiple times. I think they can improve this with little care.

I preordered a lens from Ted’s and it turned out to have a manufacturing defect in its weather seal. The lens was barely used but was just out of its warranty period. I took it into this shop, they had one in stock and swapped me a new one after inspecting the my original lens. This is truely great customer service and commitment to their products. You might find things slightly cheaper on the grey market or buy used but you’ll never get this level of assurance and customer service. I 100% recommend this shop and Ted’s in general.

After Ordering some items from their City Store I was told that one particular item would not be available till Mid January as it was a SPECIAL Order item. After explaining my reluctance to wait until mid January they promptly sent the item. (possibly from stock they had at a difference store?) Thankyou for doing your best to get my order out before Christmas, your customer service was great. I will not hesitate to shop there again. Merry Christmas :)

Their price is usually or maybe always higher than market. They don't want to do discount. They don't want to apply price match. I felt so valueless there. I spent more than 1000 dollars in the next door. They applied all price matches and offered best prices. I was ready to spend money in their store but they seem like don't care.

Had a great experience with Cole yesterday. I'm brand new to photography and have no idea what I'm doing. He was extremely knowledgable and an expert in cameras, explained all the pros and cons of the cameras in my price range, was very patient and guided me towards a Nikon Z50. I work in sales and this is a textbook example of a great sales person. Wish I could give more stars. Thanks Cole!

I paid a deposit for an X100v camera over the phone, with the Melbourne store and as I had not received any confirmation of the order I subsequently contacted the store and spoke to a staff member who was quite dismissive, gave me on Order Number but ignored my request for an Order of Confirmation, and then hung up stating that he was busy. After another phone call I eventually received the Order of Confirmation. The one star reflects poor customer service in this instance.

Glad we've started taking our photos to be developed at Ted's, the crew working at the back are really personable and incredibly helpful, with a good understanding of their products and services available. Also really responsive and helpful in emails :)

Came in to store with the potential of spending about $7000 today (25/06/2023) at the Melbourne CBD store, got approached by a salesperson asking if I needed help and went to another person after I said yes to needing assistance. Thank you for making my decision easy to go to the competitor 2 doors down the road. Absolutely appalling customer service in what should be one of the best stores in Melbourne. Will never recommended Teds Cameras again to anyone let alone spend any money in one of your stores. Always understaffed and always have poor stock holdings across all of their stores. Thank you for wasting my time.

~ 1pm 22/10/22 Management really needs to look at properly training the staff in basic customer service. We just wanted to buy a camera, we as customers, already made the process easy for them. We waited for a couple minutes behind the counter but no-one attended to our needs. We get that it can get busy at times, but you should at least notify the customers that you will attend to them. What's worse is the rotation on staff on breaks was mismanaged. Three staff members seemed like they were on break at the same time (one asian lady and another lanky white guy), even though other customers, including myself, were waiting to be served. Not too sure if they were on break, seeing they looked like they were not working. We went to JB-HIFI next door and received MUCH better service. The staff was professional and attentive. This is despite earning less, and selling cheaper products. Meanwhile the staff at Teds look unkempt, unprofessional, and looked like the hiring manager looked exclusively in Brunswick. You can tell the staff in JB actually knew and were passionate about cameras, while the staff at Teds didn't. If you wonder why you are not reaching your budget, THIS is the reason why. Look at hiring better staff, look at hiring actual geeks/nerds compared to trendy hipsters

Wonderful customer service from Jyde B at Melbourne CBD store. She has lots of knowledge and knows what she is talking about. I am very happy with my camera. She gave me her full attention and I felt like a valued customer. Ted's will be my first choice again.

Bought a new mirrorless recently and a couple of lenses recently including a trade-in of my old DSLR, and had the pleasure of dealing with a gentleman named Rory who was a delight to deal with - patient, genuinely friendly, professional, generous with advice and his time, and made my overall experience excellent. Highly recommend Ted. Prices are also an excellent match to other online stores.

Absolutely recommended for anything camera related. Dylan helped me pick out a second hand Fuji XT3. Had a hard time choosing between this and a Sony A7R and Dylan gave a great rundown comparing both the cameras. Enjoying my new XT3 now. Much appreciated.

The staff are lovely, however.. they do not price match and everything is usually full price. So I always end up walking a few doors down to Digidirect or JBHIFI who price match places like Amazon for much much cheaper.

I’m a Teds member and have bought cameras from them over the years at the now closed Greensborough store. In the last 3 weeks I have visited the doncaster and Melbourne stores looking to purchase another camera. Customer service is non-existent. Standing in a store for 20 minutes waiting for one of the staff members to help me only to be ignored while they talk to a late arrival - serveral times is not good enough. Teds - you were great….now you are disgraceful and I have to try to find another supplier for my hobby. 🙁

Ordered 2 batteries online for click&collect. They gave me batteries that expired 4 years ago. The packaging is so old the glue on it isn't sticking anymore and the backpaper already turned yellow. Needless to say the bateries don't have any more juice left. Very dishonest

Came in to trade-in my camera and few lenses. Was greeted by Isabella. She proceeded to check my camera and lenses along with Lily. The whole process was done professionally and smoothly. As my items were all in excellent conditions, trade-ins were accepted and now just waiting for the bank transfer. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend Ted’s Camera if you want to trade-in. I suggest coming in early so there are more staff available to help.
