Love everything about this place except the wait. Pro tip: skip the super long COLD sandwich line at the deli area. Line up at the usually shorter line to pay and order a hot sandwich there.

Heaven on earth. An authentic Italian store, deli and bakery off the 5. I just finished the Great Grandpa sub. 10 stars. I bought homemade sauce, pasta, and cannoli. I'll be back.

I needed to spoil the Hubz this weekend; as golf was booked for the afternoon, I drove myself down to Tustin to visit Carlo’s for a deli sandwich for a mid hole snack. With 6 locations in and around California, they’ve made quite an impression; with years of experience and a string of loyal patrons to back what a staple they are. Arriving on a Saturday, there was already quite the crowd around the Deli Area. Like clock-work, people were coming in and seamlessly grabbing a ticket while moving cautiously to the side as they anxiously waited for their number to be called. The market itself had all your Italian cooking essentials. Loads of pasta and pasta sauces, a glass counter filled with bread and pastries, not to mention the prideful Italian sweaters and t-shirts stacked on the side for novelty? Now, the sandwiches, I got the Great Grandpa Joe and the Angry Joe, both large running for about $11 each. These were HEAVY subs, they were also packed with fillings. Seeming as they both have similar fillings, one was spicy and one was mild. Both hubz and I could honestly say this was probably our favorite Italian Sub ever. We couldn’t recommend this place enough! The portion and price ratio is such a good deal, and service was friendly and efficient. You’ll be guaranteed a wait time with the amount of people coming in and out of this place as well though! **Side Note! If you check in on Yelp you’ll get a coupon for a free pop with a sub. (canned coke or pepsi)

My family and I are crazy about this place, they have all authentic Italian foods which you can’t find anywhere else. From imported cheese and wine to sauce and homemade pastas, one of the best deli meats and sandwiches. This place reminds us about all the fun we had in Italy. Recommend it to everyone.

All kinds of delicious old world goodies. Little slice of Italy in Tustin. The sandwiches are the real star of course, but you can also find really nice olive oil, cheese, wine, tomatoes, etc for entertaining or your next dinner.

Awesome sandwiches. They have a slew of specialty subs. Your eyes will dart from one choice to the next until you find the one that is just right to meet your craving. Next time, I'm starting at the bottom right corner. I always start at the upper left and hardly ever make it beyond the halfway point. Don't forget the perfectly paired side with your meal. They could do a little better labeling the prices from the great selection on the market. And a little extra on brines -

We went to pick up sausage. We were there 51 minutes . The service was great before it sold years ago. Got home and the sausage was as it always is just a few were twisted into links. Very upsetting. Should have a line for just sandwiches. Another case to get your sausage….you should not have to wait in line for that. Wine would never buy it there you can get better wine and cheaper. We are never coming back.We will find sausage elsewhere that prides themself on customer service. Sorry the place sold years ago, they had a great staff before.

OH MAN!!! This place is L-E-G-I-T!!! First time going today and the sandwich ("The Grandpa Joe"), potato salad, and cannoli are AMAZING!!! During these times where it seems like everything is going to h$ll in a bobsled, this place has brought newfound joy to my life. Lol. Thx Claro's. Ci vediamo doppo

I've been shopping at this market for over 12 years and love the food selections. But over the last couple of years, the service has continued to decline. The service is crazy slow even when it's not crowded and it feels like it's an inconvenience to the staff if you have questions. Regardless if there are only a handful of other customers, it's always at least a 45 min wait for anything at the deli counter. And that's if they have what you want. The last couple of times, I waited the 45+ minutes only to be told they are out of all turkey deli meat. A little note on the counter would have saved me and the person behind me the 45 min wait. I like their market and selection but the service is just rude and disappointing. Although this market is close to where I live, I'll be going elsewhere. As other reviewers noted, we can find similar quality elsewhere without the hassle. Such a bummer because this market used to be such a gem!

A taste of NY. Brooklyn to be specific. I drive an hour here twice a month for the pinwheel sausages, meat, ravioli, pastries, and just about everything in here. I keep my freezer stocked with sausages.

Any time I go to OC I have to stop by my favorite Italian market, Claro’s to stock up on Biscotti, Italian bread and Sfogliatelle 😋 I also got the Great Grandpa Joe sandwich with hard salami, mortadella, provolone and other delicious things, the provolone was by far the freshest and tastiest I’ve ever had. The large is a perfect size for 2 people to split even though I could eat a whole one. Claro’s has 6 locations but nothing in the San Diego area, I guess it’s best they don’t because I’d look like a bigga meataball. I was also able to get my favorite comfort pasta Pastina. 😁

Molto bene! Just a wonderful place to be for anything Italian. The only thing not being sold here is espresso shots, but you can buy the espresso coffee beans to make it yourself at home, if you have the machine. The lasagna was excellent as well as the meatballs. I can't comment on the "garlic bomb" because they didn't have it, but the dinner roll was pretty good. Of course, the cannoli here was delicious. The pink haired cashier was very pleasant. She deserves a raise! Grazie!

Staff is friendly custom sandwich is the way to go if you can't find what you're looking for on the sandwich board. Bread is fresh and amazing the ring sandwich is always a hit. The catering department is fast and on time with your order when promised.

Wonder little Italian market in the heart of OC. They offer a wide variety of Italian goods from cheeses, pastas, deli meats, sauces, baked goods and so much more. I picked up a sandwich and could easily feed 2 people with it, portions are very generous. All the food I got was delicious, but the German Chocolate cake was definitely a standout. If you live in OC do yourself a favor and check this place out.

This is a really nice authentic Italian deli, specialty market (small), hot deli, and bakery. I had the meatball sandwich which was delicious and some almond frosted cookies. Everything was fresh and the service was excellent. I was told there is almost always a line, so be prepared to wait in line a bit. But it's worth it.

You’ve lost a loyal customer today. I’ll admit, the sandwiches are great. As an east coast person who lives by delicatessens, I searched a while for something that was good out here. Claros taste lived up to those expectations. However, it became obvious that every single time I would try to go on the weekend (only time I can when I’m off), it’s an absolute nightmare experience. I understand it’s crowded, but it just feels like the service has zero desire to have any urgency to help move things along. Up until now, I would just take it but time after time, there’s never ANY improvement. Whether it’s the lackluster urgency of staff, staffing issues, I just don’t know but it’s excruciatingly painful as a patron and it’s simple not worth my time anymore. This isn’t just waiting for a sandwich, but when you get to the cashier, it’s another slog 10-20 min wait. The breaking point today was when I pulled my ticket at 60 and they were on 45. 45 minutes later, they are on 49. There is such a thing of trying to speed things up when 20-30 people are waiting. I just can’t anymore, god speed Claros. I wish you well.

Love this place place for Italian products. Right when you walk in the door you can smell the wonderful Italian aromas emanating from the deli. The deli has cured meats, including Soppressata as well as a variety of cheese. I come here for the creamy blue cheese. Hot and cold sandwiches are made here. You can shop for wines, pasta, sauces, cookies, desserts (packaged and made on site) and ready to bake pasta dishes like lasagna and baked ziti. You can't go wrong here. The deli gets busy so make sure you get a number before you start shopping. The staff here are very friendly.

Love the selection of imported Italian food products, but the deli meat counter folks could have a little more sense of urgency helping the crowd of waiting customers. Some of the employees were just standing around chatting. A lot of customers gave up and left, but we continued to wait for 30 mins to get our items. I know they need to be careful with those meat slicers but you're losing paying customers!

Great grocery selections; interesting deli. Not sure if they were out of butcher paper for sandwiches or if cellophane is what is always used for sandwiches??? Very strange way to get a sandwich wrapped at a deli. Sandwich was decent.

Big verity of pastas, pasta sauces and olive oils (as expected) but not much more. I was curious to see specific Italian food ingredients or special utilities to make handmade pastas.

Claro's is a must visit. Great food, great service. You can find great Italian staples that you can't find somewhere else. The deli is great, and the sandwiches made from those meats are also superb. It's hard to go anywhere else. Even with a decent drive it's always worth the trip. Only downside is that it can get busy. Would you really fault a place for being so good everyone is constantly there?
