I was having problems with one of the nurses. I asked for a supervisor and this guy named David Bailey came in. He said that he is the nursing officer over all of the nurses. I told him the problem and he said if I agreed to meet with him after work at a club, he would take care of the nurse problem for me. I told him I wasn't gay then he got mad and stormed out like a little sissy. I won't be going back there. The guy must have been looking for a "good time". Disgusting.

Im a type 1 diabetic; I went in for food poisoning and unfortunately as I was in the waiting room asking to get my blood sugar tested; this psycho nurse at the front desk (who was over worked) by sitting on her butt apparently said you don’t need to take your blood sugar you took it when u got in; however since she has the faintest idea how type 1 diabetes works; my sugar was neglected the rest of the night. I received saline fluids and on I went; when I left the hospital I got home within 10 minutes and my blood sugar was 42 when I got home. PATHETIC; I’ve been a UCLA health patron for 17 years and that’s the service you provide? I could’ve had a seizure. These people are absolutely insane go to St. John’s

Thief’s, liars, crooks, con artists. Told them I wasn’t sure if my medical insurance was active and I didn’t not to see a doctor or get any treatment until that I was certain. Gave me no treatment had me wait 2 hours to check if my insurance was active. Then tried to charge me $700. Unethical, immoral, it’s very disturbing that healthcare is like this these days. They are profesional hustlers. If you can’t trust you medical professionals to be honest how can you trust them with your health or your life. I recommend NEVER using this Facility even in an emergency. Can’t trust them.

This place is absolutely terrible and waste of time/money. It's took a long time to get seen and the quality/professionalism of the treatment is horrible. My forearms are feeling numb/sore, and don't have any strength from time to time for weeks. I've tried to do some research on my own online and the web said it might be a cervical spondylosis from the neck that effects the muscle nerve. And I do feel pain on my neck as well. So I explained this to the doctor. And the doctor called Dayton asked me to pull his arm to see if I have strength, he saw I can still be able to lift my arm and pull, he said "well the best we can do is to get you some X-rays..." I asked if I can get some referral on the neck specialists and he's like yeah I would provide you a list later. So I got my neck X-rays taken, took another hour to get the results. Later a nurse came out, handing over a prescription saying I need to take ibuprofen for the pain relief...I asked is there something wrong with my neck. And the nurse said," No, it's not broken or anything." I asked did Dr. Dayton asked provided a list of specialists for my future reference? And the nurse sorta beat around the bush saying," oh yeah you can follow up by calling our number." Then I asked to get a disc that has my X-rays and left. Dr. Dayton had not come out ever since I took my X-rays. So basically I spent 2 hours just to take X-rays. Later in the day I went to a different facility and present them my neck X-rays results. They said it's cervical spondylosis right away when they saw the X-rays... Do not come to this facility. Wast of time and money.

If you need to go to the ER and don't have thousands of dollars in disposable income, stay home and die instead. Vote Bernie Sanders.

On February 2, 2023 at approximately noon my son was bitten by a dog on his lip splitting the lip through and through causing it to bleed profusely. Upon arrival we were required to put on a mask which caused my son to throw away the compress he was holding on his lip in favor of the mask. We had assumed that once he checked in, he would be given something to help stop the bleeding. After checking in a few minutes later he was seen by the triage nurse who looked at his bloody lip and told him he needed stitches and made, which at the time seemed like a weird statement: “you really need that stitched so please don’t leave” I guess she knew what we were in for. It was now approximately 1:45 P.M. We then proceeded to sit in the waiting room waiting for approximately 4 ½ - 5 hours during which no one at all spoke to us. My son’s lip continued to bleed red through the yellow mask he was wearing. We watched as About 10 – 15 people who arrived after us were treated and released during this time. We also watched a poor man for approximately 2 hours who was screaming and writhing in pain while everyone in the room watched him and the staff apparently ignored him. On numerous occasions during our wait (after about 3 hours of no communication at all from staff) my son’s mother and I requested to know how much longer it would take to be seen and each time we were not given an answer. At one point the security guard went in the back to try and find “Bill” who was apparently the head nurse that day and he was nowhere to be found. Another nurse that we flagged down, after looking at my son’s lip under the mask, also supposedly went in the back to find out when he might be seen. When he returned, he walked right by us without saying a word. It was at that point my son, who was still bleeding, and who had been patient and quiet the whole time said I want to go somewhere else. We left and went to another hospital where my son was seen much faster and was examined stitched and discharged in less than 3 hours. If you ever have a medical emergency where you can’t sit and wait for over 5 hours without any communication from staff GO SOMEPLACE ELSE.

My wife is currently a patient. She flew from Our home in Mexico to get treated for cancer at supposedly one of the top 5 cancer hospitals in US. The friendly and efficient staff, good food service and spacious room are the only reasons for the 3 stars. But though she was found to have cancer in 6 areas of her body, she never saw an oncologist or any specialist for that matter during her stay. All they do here is diagnostic tests, that you have to repeatedly ask for results. All specialists are seen at clinics spread all over LA. :No treatment is done for in patients" one doctor said. So, now we have to waste precious days running all over the place to get a firm diagnosis which they were unable to do at UCLA Santa Monica. They said they did not do biopsies here. We have had experience at a number of smaller hospitals in various parts of the country and the specialist always came to the patient, and biopsies were done at the hospital. This hospital is a "gas guzzling" machine. Not at all patient centered. Really, really bad system. Look for another hospital. More...just saw a specialist at a clinic who said the hospital does do biopsies and not sure why it wasn't done. .

This is literally the worst ER and hospital I have ever had the displeasure of being a patient at, which is so unexpected given its affiliation with UCLA. The doctors and nurses here refused to give me treatment while I was internally bleeding and rapidly losing almost 2 liters of blood. I am now looking into legal action against this medical malpractice. I am only alive today because an external doctor was able to perform the surgery that this "hospital" refused me. MY STORY: Not only did it take 3 hours to get into the ER and get assessed by a doctor when I was bleeding internally and throwing up IN THE WAITING ROOM from blood loss, but I waited over 13 hours in the ER before being admitted to the actual hospital. Once admitted, the surgery team told me they did not believe my growing hematoma was a danger even though my general practitioner doctor said it was. My lab results showed me losing blood cell counts and hemoglobin every 2 hours, yet the team here did not seem concerned by it. Before insurance, the total cost for this visit was almost $20,000 just for my lab results to not even be looked at, taken into consideration, or thoroughly reviewed by any doctors here. BOTTOM LINE: I was bleeding internally, clear signs of rapid loss in my lab reports and confirmed by an external doctor. But none of the nurses or doctors here wanted to help me in time. Luckily, I successfully fought to be discharged so I was able to go elsewhere for immediate care, and was told if I waited any longer (which the UCLA Santa Monica hospital doctors wanted me to wait a week), I would not have made it out of surgery. I lose almost 2 liters of blood and nobody here cared. WARNING, I BEG YOU: Please, if you can, find somewhere else. It just might save your life. (And $20,000.)

This is any about how terrible the parking situation is at the facility. 10:15 am and public lot full. Valet full. No metered parking available. Please make sure you plan ahead if you need to bring someone to this facility. I was able to find parking at another building a couple of blocks away.

I live in New York and my oldest daughter lives in LA. Last week she called me feeling extremely sick - fever, sweating, terrible back pain. After 24 hours she went to the UCLA Santa Monica emergency room at midnight where other than taking her temperature, not one person took her vital signs, ran tests or asked questions about her symptoms - they simply told her she was having a reaction to her covid vaccine (which was 48 hours earlier) and sent her home. For another 24 hours she was in bed, unable to move and sweating profusely while in excruciating pain. I spent 24 hours on Facetime with her, crying myself because of feelings of hopelessness, fear and anxiety. I was about to call an ambulance (from NY to go bang down her apartment door) but instead I googled urgent care closest to her apartment where she received a comprehensive exam. Turns out she had a kidney infection and was not having a reaction to the vaccine. If the staff at UCLA Santa Monica ER had asked a few questions and performed a basic exam, they would have known she had a kidney infection. They had enough time to get her billing information yet didn’t listen to her symptoms. Right side back pain should not have been dismissed as reaction to covid vaccine (which was 48 hours earlier) and emergency room doctors should have at least suspected something other than vaccine related. I’m also shocked that at a minimum they didn’t run a covid test. I’m truly appalled at the way my daughter was treated (or not treated) when she arrived at the emergency department. I asked her if maybe it was really crowded and they were understaffed and she replied “No I was the only one there.” Regardless she deserved better care as does every person who seeks emergency care at a hospital.

I went to the emergency room with 3 kidney stones, I stayed in the middle of the corredor, they gave me meds as needed. I didn’t need it for few weeks when I came to pick them up the doctor himself along with the hospital said it wasn’t valid anymore and if I want another prescription I would have to reentre again paying the ridicules amount again for nothing!!!

Took my friend to the ER at 11am on a Tuesday, the entire place was empty and the nurse triaging was so persistent in kicking me out and not letting me stay with my friend who was in pain because of “COVID policy” and “the potential of it getting crowded”….I find it strange when establishments and people ignore some common sense understanding and decency. Grateful for what you all do, but come on people have some compassion. Definitely need to update your policies and people training.

Horrible. HORRIBLE place. My aunt was taken here by ambulance. Go to ANY other hospital if you can. Worst experience from an Emergency Room. They kept telling us the doctor said this, the doctor said that but he didn't come speak with her. She was in her "room" for almost 5 hours and the doctor was literally four feet from her separated by a curtain listening to the neighboring patient complain about the condition of her nursing home on three separate occasions but did not even attend to my aunt. Finally a nurse came and said "doctor says it's time for you to go." He didn't even discharge her. Maybe this horrible ER just doesn't cater to melanin patients. DISGUSTING.

DON’T GO THERE! Worst place I ever stepped in. I only gave my name and left and they’re charging me like I was seen by a physician. I talked to them and they said the waiting would be over 3h and I said I wouldn’t wait and they said they can’t do anything about it. Please go to ANYWHERE besides this place. Besides that they are NOT satirized. There’s no hands sanitizers, everybody is squished in the same room and they made me take my mask off for checking my body temperature in the middle of everybody else. 100% lack of respect and are careless for patients. Even for reviews they wouldn’t care

Our Experience at UCLA was a nightmare. This place is constantly putting pressure for your loved ones to be discharged even when they are very sick. My Mother has been in this facility for a Month, if they would put as much effort for caring for my Mother as they due trying to discharge her my Mother would be fully recovered. If this facility is the number one in California the Doctors must be voting not the people. My mother was discharged against our wishes and placed in one of the worst facilities in LA against our wishes .Doctor Mayo, Doctor Kamal, Case .Management Supervisor Jose Fabian and Case Management Lindsay are a disgrace to this organization .

I was shocked! The emergency room was empty, EMPTY! Even though there were incredibly few people there, it went relatively slow but compared to other medical centers it went very quickly. They almost took us to do the wrong test for a completely different ailment and as it turns out they grabbed the "wrong patient" SCARY! they had my friend on a bed in the hallway and I thought that was ridiculous. She was in so much pain and I'm sure the passing people didn't help much.

I walked in to the hospital ER yesterday 13Feb2020 at 1300hrs. Waited about 10 min before being addressed by a receptionist. I was able to then present my paper showing I am severely neutropenic and should not be made to wait in the ER to him. I was seen about 7-10 min later in one of the back rooms where my blood pressure, temperature, and heart rate was taken. I showed the lady in there the same note to which she replied, ok I’ll put you in the system as URGENT URGENT. We spoke for a little. She was a nice lady. I then went and waited with my fiancé in a corner of the ER because I shouldn’t be around other sick people. It was about an hour before I spoke to a new receptionist asking her how much longer it would be for me while presenting her with my paper from my doctor. She told me 15 min. they’re cleaning my room. So I don’t have to be in the ER I can wait in my car and she’ll come out and grab me if they come earlier. So, we walked to grab my car and pulled it to the ER. We waited about 15min when I asked my fiancé to valet the car since the time was getting close to us being checked in and we’ll wait outside with my two bags for the extended stay I was expecting, seeing how I have to get a transfusion and a bone marrow transplant because I have aplastic anaemia. We waited outside for about 20 more minutes before I decided to go in and ask the receptionist again how long it would be, because it’s cold outside. She stated she doesn’t know. So I went back outside and waited almost another 20 minutes before deciding to leave. In total I waited roughly 2 hours. Before leaving I went back in to talk to the receptionist. I calmly and professionally explained to her that she shouldn’t give me a specific time even if it’s an estimate. Because she did that and my expectation were based off what she told me, we were waiting outside in the cold. She should’ve just stated she couldn’t give me a time, that way we could’ve just stayed in my car... I can’t believe that I couldn’t wait in any room regardless to if it was an ER room or not. At this point if I get sick from all the people in the ER, coughing and sneezing when I first waited, that virus could kill me. Hence why I am upset. (Pictures posted on Yelp)

I went to UCLA the other day the doctors are horrible I met with the director of cerebral palsy and he had the nerve to say living with cerebral palsy is horrible And they’re not doing anything new for people with CP I’m sorry but people who have the cerebral palsy name in the organization should be shut down where there needs to be some serious sensitivity training

This review is more from an employment perspective and how the hospital operates behind the scenes. There’s a reason why UCLA is popular… they have money, mostly state of the art equipment, the hospital is clean and well designed but what happens behind the scenes is just plain scary. I worked here for about 3 years and was regularly dealing with high school drama, backstabbing colleagues, and abusive management. When you’re working somewhere that has a reputation, everyone will try to throw you under the bus in order to lift themselves up in front of management. Lies, deceit, manipulation, etc. UCLA is no exception and they did nothing to prevent this. I’ve worked for 4 major hospitals and UCLA is one of the worst hospitals I’ve worked in. The culture here is very toxic and I know a handful of people who have also quit for similar reasons to the ones I cited.

Overall my experience was satisfactory. Dr. Peter was so professional and courteous. However, one of his assistants charged with cleaning up my facial wounds didn't read my chart and proceeded to push hard enough to wipe dried blood off of my nose before I winced in pain. Her response was "the stitches are up here, not on the side", to which my reply was "I have a fractured nose. Didn't you read my chart before you started treating me???". Everyone else was very professional and compassionate. Please teach the assistants to read the chart before they start pressing on fractured bones. It's not a big ask. Thanks, Dr. Peter and the rest of the staff!

Disappointed that the ER nurse let my mom sit in her own urine and told her that she had to wait until a bed was available and that the nurse would clean up the mess later. Is that really quality care?

I am impressed with the care of the nurses and doctors. Grateful for what you all they do, but definitely need to train those who sit at the reception with manners and people interaction. These are the people that represent your establishment. My chief complaint here is that the front reception desk employees across the board are very rude. When checking in the first day, I was demanded my photo id and COVID vaccine card which is completely understandable. However, the tone of your employees were dictatorial even intolerant with me. The following two days, the attitudes did not improve. They are aggressive, rude and derogatory.

Hubby has been taking hospital chemo treatments for five months at UCLA Santa Monica. We stay five days every 21 days. This place became home away from home. Everyone from the valet team, the lobby staff, admissions, cafeteria, security, and the AMN oncology floor were top notch - above and beyond our expectations. We were treated like family. Our care was excellent. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making Cancer as pleasurable as possible. We will always have fond thoughts of our interactions with everyone we met.

They don’t let you be with your family. My dad was receiving a procedure at this hospital and they have a very strict rules that only one individual is allowed upstairs at a time and the time must be divided in between two family members. My dad has two kids and a wife. We all wanted to be able to see him before he went in for his complicated procedure and we were not allowed to. They only allowed two out of the three of us to go into the room and only one at a time. Everyone is still required to wear masks and social distance in this facility so I don’t understand why we can’t be with our loved ones.

My husband fell and broke his hip and was taken by ambulance to this hospital. It was a very unhappy experience. He supposedly had a hip replacement, but his "hospitalist" doctor couldn't say if it was a full or partial hip replacement. Same "hospitalist" doctor called his discharge medications out to a pharmacy in La Verne, 50 miles away. I never was able to speak to the surgeon. I found out my husband was being discharged when someone from the finance office called to say I could protest by calling the Medicare hotline. An hour later they had him out the door. The first problem was a total lack of communication on the part of all staff. The next problem is that they just don't care. That is the beginning of their problems. Every protest and complaint was met with a COVID-excuse. This place is broken, like my husband's hip. Best to find another place for help. "Hey GOOGLE, maybe you can tell me, did my husband have a full or partial hip replacement?" I still don't know.

My husband went to the ER because he had extremely low sodium levels. Doctors nurse called and said it was dangerous. She said he needed to he rushed to the ER. I had to drive home after midnight to get his medications. He was not being seen by a doctor who was willing to prescribe his meds. He is a victim of a spinal cord injury and was suffering from a serious UTI. His blood pressure was skyrocketing and he was in a lot of pain. Yet they were doing nothing about it. “His” nurse was rude and uncaring! She acted like a egotistical teenager. We will never go back there! We have had several bad experiences there.

Doctors here are great. Nurses are hit and miss. Some are extremely knowledgeable, helpful and kind while some may use insensitive wording to convey a message to the point my wife was crying for a while. But beyond all, the facility is old and everything is kinda rusty. Bathrooms have super old tiles and look kinda gross and we had a lot of trouble with the transportation. Everytime they want to move you to another room or you're about to be released, consider waiting 2 hours for facility to come pick you up. I ended up taking out luggage up and down to the car myself. Overall, not what you expect for one of the best hospitals in the area.

I am a veteran 20 year RN … I go to the ED w a health crisis and my insurance is out of state they said how much can I pay I said 25 got a receipt for that amount and when I checked my bank statement they charged 496 dollars the entire ED amount .. FRAUD !! I got no receipt for that amount … and they won’t reverse it until after 10 days when it’s “processed” who operates this way ?!?! It’s fraud !! I have contacted everyone I know and plan on writing a long letter to their president … DON’T GIVE THEM A CARD WHEN YOU GO THROUGH THE ED!! Just state you have no way of paying or else they will take your card and charge the entire amount beware !!!!!!

Wow!! Phenomenal. I have no idea where they found all of the nicest, coolest, smartest people to work here from the front desk through the recovery team. Dr. Bernthal is an absolute Angel, highly recommended from a national support group as both an excellent surgeon leading in the field but also as a wonderful human. Dr. Wessel went above and beyond helping to coordinate care and consider all aspects of the surgery. We met with SEVERAL doctors in person/digitally and felt most comfortable with this team. Dr. Bernthal’s MA Kerry was very patient and helpful in making everything happen. His fellow, Dr. Kendall is also very caring, patient and calming while being very thorough and patient. Dr. Chia was a very kind anesthesiologist who spent lots of time talking through post op directions. Our nurses Tim and Ingrid were lively, fun, and super attentive. Nicole up front was a style icon but also incredibly pleasant and helpful at 5AM. The building doesn’t even feel like a hospital with the rich wood decor and warm tones. For something that is essentially terrible, THANK YOU UCLA SM for making it as Enjoyable as possible. Helpful tips as of 7/22. -Visitors need proof of Full vaccination or Covid test. -Covid test needs to be labeled Midturbinate or nasopharyngeal (not anterior nasal like lots of clinics do). -There are plugins and lockers in surgery waiting room. -Valet parking ($14) is cheaper than the parking lot across the street ($24). Street parking is free until 9AM.

It is hard to replicate what has been created here: a hospital where patients are immediately surrounded by a swarm of specialists, over-attentive nurses, the hums and beeps of high tech medical gadgetry, and an impressive view of a clean city by the water's edge. My chief complaint here? That the gourmet burger I ordered was a tad bit too dry. This place is impressive because it has money, that is undeniable. But it rises beyond that -into the realm of the exceptional - because of its culture. The care is genuine.

Patient experience never returned my calls. My mother, a dementia patient, was admitted through emergency. They never fed her, either orally or through her g tube. I suspect they gave her strong medications because when she came home she had worse delirium and her urine had a foul odor for three days, she could barely walk, very dizzy. My mothers g tube had a hole in it and there was no dressing with the valve off and just a coil resting on her tummy. How could the nurses ruin her gastric tube like that and leave a hole in her stomach uncovered by sanitary split sponges? Beware, Dr Grace Chen told me that when we sign documents to treat they are allowed to give incompetent patients or children any medication they want. I was shocked and disgusted. I am the appointed durable power of attorney for healthcare for my mother. I’m sure my mom was over medicated.

The wait was a little long, but the ER was full. The doctor spoke me approximately 5 minutes. However, the highlight was that the nurse George, who was not even assigned to me, was so caring, attentive and efficient. I can’t imagine how great he is to his patients which he’s actually assigned to! Deserves a promotion for sure.

I tried calling the UCLA Medical Hospital so that I can become a new patient. My OBGYN wants me to see an oncologist after an unsuccessful hysteroscopy. Well, the representative for new patient services picked up and boy was she a treat to talk to. I asked her what do I need to do to become a new patient? She sounded so bothered and annoyed as if she is tired of repeating the same script to every caller. I get it, I would very much dislike a repetitive job but really no one is forced to do anything they don't want to do. She started reading off a script (or so it seemed) because she was being super generic like "Call your doctor have NO MORE than 15 PAGES and fax them to (xxx)xxx-xxxx" (she coughs extra loud into the phone and silence). Honestly made me feel bad even asking if she could hold on for me to get a pen or at least not be so aggressive. Her demeanor was so bad that I just thought, I don't want to go through cancer treatment with a staff that treats people this bad already. First time trying and last. Would not recommend.

This place is unethical. Went there for a prescription change and left with hundreds of dollars in bills after they asked me to test for everything on earth. I asked them to make sure insurance would pay for the bills and yet had almost 750 dollars that became my responsibility. I’ll never go there, again!

My son couldn't have been I better hands then with Dr. Bowen. No one ever wants to have to see a doctor if you need to UCLA is should be your first choice.

I don't recommend this facility to pediatric patients who need extensive work up. I left having more questions about my son's condition than when I got admitted and my son had burn marks on his head from EEG machine. It's a teaching hospital, meaning it is ran by students who are making diagnoses and the doctors supervising them signing off their homework. I urge you to take your children somewhere where they will get proper diagnoses. The doctors were nice but neurology saw my son for 5 minutes to rule out cp diagnoses. 5 minutes? i find it irresponsible to make such conclusions without thorough evaluation. I wasn't given any results in writing, everything was verbal and recommend to go see other specialists. they couldn't complete tests because beds weren't available at the other location. the icing on the cake, no beds or comfortable couch for parents staying with their kids. you get a chair. furthermore, they don't tell you that you get one guest tray a day and it must be entered by nurses. you have to "purchase" guest trays to be able to eat there or go down to cafeteria. but you aren't informed of this on your first day there, you find out as you go. they expect you to leave your infant child to go purchase food. while the child monitoring is malfunctioning and anyone can enter your child's room with very little security. I know prisoners get treated better.

The place and nurses were overall nice but I had the worst experience with a care partner. She was monitoring me while I was in eating disorder treatment and she was unprofessional and not educated on the fact that the food should not be discussed. When it was time for lunch I was served a big salad and sides since I was in the refeeding process. After my nurse gave my food and everyone walked out of the room she told me that it was a “mountain of food” and “I cannot believe they serve this much to a minor” I then tried explaining to her that I needed this for my health but she didn’t listen. I felt so disgusted especially because I was struggling on that topic. Once I told her I was uncomfortable and didn’t want to eat anymore she said, “yeah I think that’s the best decision.” And took my food away before the time was up. This was very unprofessional. I am so disappointed and I hope she is not allowed to be around eating disorder patients in the future because she is clearly uneducated. To this day, that comment is in the back of my mind and is a reason I still struggle with food. I hope this doesn’t happen to anyone else.

The innovation is constant. A teaching hospital at its very best. The doctors, whether internist, cancer surgeon or urologist are top of the top and they constantly share their wealth of knowledge with residents and new docs. Same for the incredible nurses, support staff. The security are also professional polished and on top of their game which sets you at ease. Knowing yourself or loved one is in a safe place. UCLA contributes to our community every hour of every day in ways great and small and especially right now they continue to step up their game to make their hospitals so clean so modern and so safe that you enter feeling confident in them and leave grateful to have had their care. Big blessing.

Wow I came in on a Sunday morning because I thought I had broken my foot and it was so quick! There was no wait and I was seen right away. I got an x-Ray within 10 minutes and found out it was only a sprain. Everyone was super nice and helpful.

I ended up here in the Emergency Room from a scooter accident in which my face hit the asphalt and I split my chin open. The medical professionals here were amazing! Wonderful bedside manner, patient and attentive and obviously the top of their game in the medical profession. They had me stitched up and out the door in less than two hours! And added in a cat scan just to make sure there was no head trauma! Then the security guards were very pleasant and made me feel safe while I waited for my ride outside. Wonderful hospital!

Really deserves 5 stars. Can’t speak for everyone’s experience but while my mom has been admitted into this hospital, they have been very attentive to her and thorough with her special diet. Forever grateful for everyone who puts their heart and soul into their work.

The doctors and office support staff are amazing and the hospital seems as clean as it can be, but that is where my positive experience stops. I had surgery in July at UCLA Santa Monica and immediately upon receipt of the bill I reached out to a charity organization thru my employer that was going to pay the approx. $2800 bill for me. The charity organization needed a completed W-9 for for the physicians related to the bill before they can submit payment. That has started an over 2 month long quest to get that form. I have called billing MANY time and they have confirmed there are notes on my file for where the W9 form can be sent when completed. Both the charity organization and I have emailed / faxed the H.I.T department numerous times. I also have called billing, requested a call back from billing supervisor (never got it), never received email or call backs from H.I.T department, and called Patient Experience and left voicemails. I got one call back voicemail from them saying to contact billing but haven’t received any call back from them upon my 2nd voicemail, and I got so desperate I even called the operator asking for the hospital administration. They forwarded me to a voicemail and I left a voicemail there with no call back. What am I supposed to do here? This has been going on since July! I am financially being hurt by this because the charity will not reimburse me for other medical bills I already paid for until all claims can be submitted at once. Not that this will do anything, but if this doesn’t get fixed I’m going to start contacting high ups at UCLA such as the Chancellors office.

The worst emergency room service I have ever experienced. I have been waiting for two hours with my one year old son... there’s absolutely zero attention to the fact that a baby is in the emergency room for care. Not sure how I’m expected to keep my one year old in the waiting room for hours in the middle of the night. I delivered at this hospital, but will never use it again. Absolutely disappointed in what happened tonight.

I had a great experience here for a scheduled HoLep procedure that included an overnight stay for observation after a 3 hour surgery with general anesthesia. I had to stay in the recovery area overnight in lieu of a room, but it was fine. Check-in was a breeze and all personnel from beginning to end were professional and attentive. Special shout out to RNs Loren T. and Dapheny T. who had the day shift and expedited my discharge. My SO was kept apprised of my progress and notified when she could visit.

ER staff were very nice and attentive. The nurse kept coming in to check on me without me having to look for her (which is rare). The doctor was good also. They admitted me so I could get an MRI and after a few days the MRI still never happened. So I left. Overall, very nice staff, much calmer than the Westwood location. The staff outside of the ER are helpful but don’t really communicate (which is why the MRI never happened). I hate hospitals after being admitted for awhile after an accident in the fall but the staff being attentive and nice helped.

Everyone is great Here at SM. Nurse Melissa R,Rn It’s awesome she’s there you need her and she’s so kind. I felt like I was treated like a VIP patient. I see people writing about that they have a long wait, but what can you do? It’s a hospital. A lot people coming here are not sick. They just want a free bed. Thank you, UCLA. Hospital at Santa Monica.

ER -great Nurse-amazing Clean hospital -great One problem they are here to make money. All three doctors didn't review meds. I complained about side effects. They don't care. They take 10min and they run away. Complete fraud!!!! Doctors upstairs do not take time to study and you can't locate them. They hide!!! This is not right. doctors need to be available all the time on each floor!!!! All doctors are new. No experience

This hospital has exceeded my expectations. My daughter has sickle cell and is 4 years old. She has had her number of stays at hospitals. This one is by far the BEST. She was transferred here from another hospital and I’m glad she was. Lots of nurses and Doctors were involved with her care. They all were very sweet and very patient with her. She had a person strictly dedicated to making her stay here as comfortable as possible. She was very sweet and very hands on. She spoke to her in a way she felt comfortable and enjoyed the conversation. It didn’t feel like the usual desensitized staff we got at other hospitals. Non of the nurses or doctors looked like us but it did not matter because I felt like they loved her still and respected us both very much. Her treatment was beautifully executed from everyone involved. It was organized and the rooms were well stocked. Clean rooms with plenty of things to keep her attention. They have a menu you order food from for the patient. That was cool. I had to pay 7 dollars for my meal but it included an entree with 2 sides a dissertation and drink! That was not a problem. This will be my go to hospital from this point on. Thank you to all the staff and security for the awesome hospitality and for treating me and my baby so well through a time that is always scary and stressful for us.

My Sweetheart has been here since Dec 17 in the Orthopedic unit (19 days). We have been with her 24/7. The care from Everyone the Drs, Nurses, Nursing Assistants, Physical Therapists, and Housekeeping has been outstanding. I'm older and unfortunately have been with many family members in hospital settings. We will be forever grateful for the compassion and assistance given. Thank all of you. Big hug..... with a mask : )

First I’d like to start off by saying that the entire nursing staff at this hospital is top notch and this review is not directed toward them in any way. Dr.Kozlova is easily the worst doctor I’ve ever had the unfortunate experience to be treated by. I have a very extensive background of medical isssues including colon cancer at the age of 30 years old. Since my diagnosis I have been gettting several diagnosis of pyelonephritis, which anyone that has had this knows that it extremely painful to go through. I always have come to UCLA for my medical needs and I will never return again due to Dr.Kozlova. Having been in and out of the hospital my entire life, I have built up a tolerance to pain medications. I also started abusing oxycodone after my cancer diagnosis. (Happy to report I’m over 10 years sober now) Since these kidney infections happen to me quite frequently, Im used to the drill of the hospital. I come in and they give me a mix of IV antibiotics and IV pain pain meds, which are administered at the hospital only and I never once have ever been sent home with pain meds. I refuse to. By the time leave the hospital every time I am basically 100% cured and I’m no pain. Today Dr.Kozlova decided she was going to try to handle my medical issues her way, which included taking me off my usual meds that have worked for me for literally over a dozen times, and she wanted to switch my pain medication to oxycodone, which is the exact pain medication that I used to abuse 10 years ago. I explained to her that I could not take oxy and there was no reason to switch me from the medicine that has already been tried and tested and proven to work for me. She refused and her argument was because of the “opioid epidemic” which A. Makes no sense because oxy was switching me to is an opioid. And B. Just because some people in the world have created this nightmare opioid crisis, it’s really not fair for people like me that use it in a hospital setting and it works wonders with no dangers at all under hospital supervision. Dr.Kozlova literally let me sit in my hospital bed for over 8 hours in some of the worse pain I’ve experienced while she tried to push oxy on me, which I refused. As I’m writing this I’m in the process of being discharged on my own accord, since I cannot simply get the pain management under control all due to this nightmare of a doctor. One of the worse parts I’m going to have to change my entire network of doctors that I was under at UCLA all because of this doctor. Such a shame. I have loved UCLA up until today and I will never be back.

I didn’t get a solution to why I went in, and idk what’s going to happen with billing yet (lol)… but just wanted to say every single nurse, doctor, transport specialist, and medical tech that helped me were so so nice! I was really pleasantly surprised.

This hospitals hiring practices are down right racist the hr department is deceptive and i see why this campus has a high turnover rate. If you are a person that speaks up for yourself and don't fit the so called culture don't apply you won't last long they will gaslight, be dismissive and show down right racism in you're face. Look at the rating on culture look at the rating on mangement?. People of color be Forwarned

So thankful to never be going to this office again. Everything here is so wrong, from misleading schedulers and INCAPABLE billing department. Had ongoing wrist pain stemming from a physical, called back to get something done for it. They scheduled me to come in for a cortizone shot, which i was then told they do not do once i got there. I was out the door in two minutes with no servies done to me and recieved a large bill. I have been trying to work with the billing department for months now, they NEVER PICK UP THE PHONE and when you leave a voicemail they will not call you back. You have no choice to pay it even if its extremely unfair. These people do not care about you, go somewhere that actually deserves your money. Also i guaruntee your physical consists of 10 minutes of doctor time and an hour of waiting in between doctors coming in and out. Best advice i got for chronic knee pain was ibuprofin...... as if i didnt know that by age 10.

The medical record release department is the worst team ever, never pick up the phone, even they leave the message that they will call you back, THEY WILL NEVER FOLLOW. I have been asking to release my daughter information for more than a month and they don't even pick up the phone, sad very sad, the big signs everywhere show "UCLA it's starts with U" but in real it never does :(

Awesome experience. I went in for a Vasovagal Syncope attack (didn't know really that I had the condition so it resulted in a pretty violent seizure-esque panic attack). Everyone from the woman who took my name, the first nurse who took my vitals, the next nurse who asked about me and let me vent about my ex, to the doctor who was super informed, the x-ray guy who I admittedly made a pregnancy joke to and he didn't think it was very funny.. Just EVERYONE, from start to finish, was absolutely amazing and super welcoming. Did not make me feel ridiculous or unimportant whatsoever. 10/10 would have panic attack again.

Came to the ER and was admitted to the hospital that day, ended up staying in the hospital for a week, had my own room the whole time. Overall good care and decent food. The doctors communicated well and helped me identify a plan for future care.

5 1/2 hours of waiting to get a room i feel exhausted emotionally physically, etc. The second Dr who saw me ( who also didn’t asked me anything) gave me a wrong diagnosis, Monique my nurse she was aware of the tremendous mistake and helped me out figuring it out with the Dr who never asked me anything to begin with, but ultimately changing his wrongful diagnosis. Unfortunately terrible experience and i went in without any expectations whatsoever.

Wonderful hospital the staff are very nice and caring and wonderful food but some of the rooms don’t have privacy curtains. I would recommend them to have the disposable privacy curtains that they can change. Because we need privacy over all this is a wonderful hospital and have not had any issues so far highly recommended thank you 4th floor staff :)

Not a very good experience. My dad has dementia and is here for back surgery. We have had a hard time getting info about his condition and now they say they can't find a rehab place close to our home. My elderly mom can't drive to Santa Monica daily (or at all). We live 50 miles away. On top of it, parking is always a struggle, the meter spots are always full, valet is usually unavailable, and if you stay more than 30 minutes, the garage costs $24. Maybe this is a hospital that caters to the wealthy only. Really disappointed in the patient and family care here.

Professionalism and Courtesy! My wife had a pretty extensive surgery, and from start to finish, we were very happy with our choice on coming from Vegas to get this surgery done. I have to especially thank Dr. Shamie, Dr. Ulloa and their surgery team for making sure all went well. Then the 3 North nurses and staff were very attentive to all our needs, as well as the housekeeping staff making sure that all was clean and sanitized. I can't say enough about UCLA. The Davis family thanks you very much.

I love coming to get treatment at UCLA Santa Monica or at the Reagan location. UCL Santa Monica is more laid back compared to reagan. I have excellent nurses as well which is very important because I always come here to get hospitalized for a rare genetic disorder that I have. Here I'm listening to, my input matters, and it shapes my treatment plan here. I'm also able to get alternative forms of medicine here such as reiki, Urban Zen, acupuncture from East-West medicine, and spiritual care which allows me to speak to a chaplain. This is all wonderful me for me because I need as much psychological support as possible especially whenever on hospitalized because my disease is very much triggered by emotional state. This is my second time being hospitalized this location and it's been great. The food is really good. The nurses as well as a Care partners take excellent care of me so I have two nurses that take care of me. And a team of different doctors that I meet with which is about 4 that take care of me as well. I really love this location and plan on coming here in the future whenever I have a tax for my genetic disorder. So personally I highly recommend it
