Amazing place for drinks, food and sunset watching. Prices are reasonable and sometimes they have a DJ or live music. Nice atmosphere to hang several hours. The place is right at the water.

It is located inside The Slipway. The atmosphere is better than their service. It's a lounge at the edge or the shore of the beachfront. It serves cocktails, mocktails, teas, coffees, seafoods, foods etc. I would say their prices match their location even though it's considered pricey. It's cool hangout or chill place.

We came for lunch. The seating area is very nice by the sea, but watch out for the nosy crows! The service was a bit slower than expected. We ordered: - Grilled king fish: was awesome! - Chicken shish kebeb: it was good, but the sauce that comes with it is very spicy, so you may eat it without the sauce if you can't handle spicy. - Fish and chips: it was coated with coconut flakes, so the coconut flavor was apparent. So, we didn't like it much because of that. However, we tried to peel the crispy coating and eat the fish inside and it was okay, especially if you dip it in the tartar sauce that comes with it and/or drizzle it with lemon. The french fries were good. - Vanilla milkshake: it tasted good and rich with vanilla. The childrent loved them. The sunset is definitely sublime here whether you observe it while at the restaurant or in the area around it.

I would give this zero stars if I could. Steak was undercooked and extremely chewy, I almost died choking on it. Many of the menu options were unavailable and they messed up my order. Pasta was bland with no sauce. No compensation was offered for this terrible food and dining experience. I will NOT be coming back and do not recommend for anyone,I wouldn't even feed this garbage to my dog or the stray cats living in the city. Just terrible.

Best NYE experience had at the Waterfront. Very well organized and festive. Large buffet selection of delicious food and desserts. The fireworks display at the bay was beautiful. Best way to end off the year in Tanzania!

Tanzania waterfront stole my heart really from the food, the DJ, the atmosphere and the people. The food was amazing we had the sea food platter ( PS try it) and we also danced until they closed.

Hotel waterfront is ideally located just 7km from the Dar es Salaam city centre on the posh Msasani peninsula, right on the Indian Ocean overlooking Msasani Bay. It offers the best value for money in this upmarket neighborhood. The name says it all. Here you enjoy a breathtaking sunset over the Indian Ocean. The menu is heavily centered around fresh fish & seafood complemented by a wide selection of pizzas from the wood-fired oven. This highly frequented restaurant is very popular with locals and tourists, kids & grown-ups alike. Even if it’s only for a cool drink in its magnificent ambiance. You can reserve the table by connecting with Hotel management. There are various liquor brands and patterns available, so we can enjoy the evening with family and friends. This place is also nice for photoshoots and snaps. In short, it is worth spending money here and collecting the memories.

Nice view. Nice location. Terrible staff especially if you are of African origin or person of color. They will prefer to run and serve white customers over you. And when they serve you, they do so half heartedly like you are a bother. It's definitely not on the list of places I'll ever visit again.

Steak was really juicy and tender. Really great seafood too, especially lobster thermidor and fish. Prawns were slightly overcooked and hard. Pizzas are great as well.

Busy bar and restaurant with probably the best view in Dar. Packed at sunset. Good is excellent especially the tikka prawn skewers. Jerk chicken was a little dry and not too comparable to its Jamaican roots! Beer is cold and staff are attentive

Food is good if you can eat it before the flies do. Between every bite I’m swatting flies off my food. Every other restaurant has measures to try and control this. Candles, fans, fly swatters, spray. The waterfront doesn’t. They don’t mind that all their tables are crawling in tens of flies.

For what I was served it was bland ( grilled fish) and my husband was served lamb chops it was very chewy . The service was okay it’s like they were fearful to speak up to the foreigners about smoking which was ridiculous. They really need to improve so many things . The first thing that needs improvement is structure . If there is a smoking and non smoking area then be strict on that. Allowing foreigners just do whatever they want is ridiculous and I am a foreigner myself. As a non smoker I don’t want to smell smoking while I am eating. I asked if I could be seated in a non smoking area and they said yes . Just to find out there is an exception for foreigners. What was disturbing to see is watching Tanzanians waiting and waiting for their food and then foreigners getting served first. I am not sure who the owner is of the restaurant is but whomever you are this needs to be fixed. As more foreigners like myself visit Dar . This will not be acceptable. The next thing that needs to improve is making sure you have product. If you close at midnight why are you running out of fresh juice? This is a country where there is an amble amount of fresh fruit fruit. So to run out of fresh juice just tells me it is not fresh but premade . The 4 stars for service is because our waitress was kind.

Food was average, not flavourful or anything. Fries tasted better than it looked. There is a view and live band if you go at the right time. In the afternoons the heat and the flies are annoying. Cocktails aren’t that great either.

The view here is amazing. The food is even better. During the day time and especially during the months of November and December when I was there it gets unbearably hot in the afternoon. It’s an open sitting and might have to put up with the more than occasional cigarette smokers. Did not see a designated smoking area, which is not ideal for a non smoker. All else, the food is fantastic and the waiter who served was able to explain the menu and recommend an absolutely amazing meal which came out in a surprisingly short period. Plating was also well thought out! Possible the best food in Dar es Salaam Masaki areas just yet!

Good service and cold beers at a reasonable price. Had the mbuzi and ugali. Mbuzi was a bit too dry for my liking. The chilli in Tanzania is super hot! A great afternoon out.

Excellent service and one of the nicest spots in the city in terms of venue and views. The food is mediocre, though. Avoid the pizza, which was the worst I've had in Dar. I ordered the sausage pizza and it came with cut slices of hot dog and close to zero marinara sauce (I think they used ketchup).

Too terrible. The taste was nice 1 year ago, but they changed too much now. The most menu changed into another local way. I ordered delivery this time, but only this restaurant seems to call this "Spaghetti Napoli" in the world. I couldn't eat even a little.

Amazing view and food but terrible customer services. We had asked 3 different people to come and listen to us But no one showed up and finally this one guy comes a in a rush and when we tried to inquire about certain options of the menu, he dared to say this is why people are not coming to your table ..and kept on saying I am needed at the other tables, I got so confused about his attitude, I think he assumed we were there just to sit ?? And the fact that he said do you know why people are not coming to your table to serve you?? came out so wrong..

Didn't get to take pictures of the inside. Has the best view of the beach. Ideal for singles, couples and family. The staff were friendly, especially Rehema. You can bring your laptop and work away as there are charging bays.

Was excited to try this restaurant but was let down with the food. Portions sizes were small and prices were high. You're definetly paying for the view here. We had the StoneTown Fish Curry and Pork Ribs and they were okay but nothing great or worth getting again.

Lovely restaurant right at the ocean in Dar Es Salaam. Excellent service and great food and drinks. Given all of the above, very fair pricing (e.g drinks for c. 15'000 and meals between 20'000 and 40'000). You can easily spend am entire afternoon there just sipping cocktails by the ocean

Had a lovey dinner at The Waterfront. Staff was very attentive and the service was fast. Moderately pricey but worth it with the view. The fresh juice was so good When in Slipway, I would recommend to check them out.

  • 3/5 Necati M. 1 year ago on Google
The environment and staff is nice and friendly but the food not at all. The pizza was more like bread with tomato sauce so I had to order something else. The "fresh juice" was not fresh and too much sugar. For that quality of kitchen the menu is overpriced.

  • 5/5 Peter M. 1 year ago on Google
Great Atmosphere by the ocean and an excellent view of the sunset should you get there early enough and have reserved a seat next to the ocean. The food is perfectly cooked and the seafood is straight from the ocean and to your plate so super fresh. Prices are reasonable, $ 30-40 for a 3 course meal and a beer. The only caution I give is that the food is cooked on order so don't expect it to arrive on your table quickly even the starters take some time to arrive. But that said the final product is worth the wait...

The food was spectacular. We stumbled upon this place while on a day trip from Zanzíbar. I enjoyed the prawns with veggies and my significant other enjoyed the chicken. I don't remember the exact name of his dish but, in his words, "this may be the best chicken I've ever had." The drinks were also delectable. I definitely recommend. Flavors are unforgettable! By the way, the food was so good that we didn't get photos. My apologies.

Great place with water view, food was not delicious and little expensive, very crowded during weekend. The waiter gave us wrong bill with more 26000 Tsh than our bill, hoping you are bad in mathematics.

  • 1/5 dennis b. 8 months ago on Google
This is madness. These people are rude and racist they first did not bother to find us a seat, we had to do it ourselves. After they waited for 40mins they started serving us Meanwhile they served all other tables around with people who just came and lastly when we ordered they gave us a half cocktail with lipstick on a side meaning someone drank that or they served on a dirty glass. Shame on you water front you can do better.

We arrived here on Sunday afternoon, and there weren't too many people, so the servers weren't particularly busy. However, we sat for 15 minutes without any server coming to take our order. They were just chatting and wandering around. So, we didn't order anything and ended up leaving. Maybe they have enough business here, so they don't prioritize their service. It was very disappointing.

The ambiance is great; one of the best places to enjoy a meal as u enjoy the African sunset as God intended at creation. I sampled a tender goat meat dish, served with deep fried & dried bananas with vegetable salad. I liked everything except the salad (served without any dressing). Price is comparable to other restaurants of same calibre in Dar. Customer service was average. During the day/evening u may have to contend with some "Indian House crows" anxious to grab a piece of ur meal. Seems like a very popular place, patronized by locals & foreigners. It will be great to designate a specific area for smokers. Overall, a great place

Restaurant with great views and ambience Has some good variety of seafood on the menu with local fresh produce! The calamari rings are definately to be tried, cooked to perfection, amazingly tender and tasty Has a vegetarian menu! Serves pizza! And offers desserts as well. Sunsets are the best times, though can be more crowded at that time and service tends to get slower, but the hot freshly cooked food is Much appreciated. Ask to be served by Eric, he is super efficient.

I love this place but it is really pricey for example the mtori. One bowl of mtori cost 15,000 tsh but our local diner serves mtori at such a cheap price that my whole family can have 2 bowls of mtori and enough chapatis as the same price at The Waterfront. I suggest there be a smokers area for smokers because I only went twice but each time I went, there was smoke and it was very disruptive. But the food was amazing.
