Hotel Serena provides a wide range of exquisite dishes and sweets. The Danish pastries and Caramel puddings are my personal favourite. The architecture of the building is so unique and radiates a positive vibe. A 10/10 from my side!

I didn’t stay at Serena during my visit, but went for the Spa Massage experience. The staff Anna was super nice and professional. The ambience was perfect decorated for a tranquil relaxation. Even with mask on due to covid measures, you can still smell the lovely scent when you walk into the space. The massage was perfect, it all lies in detail. The massage bed was amazing, the design is perfect to support your lower back so it’s super comfy and you don’t get to feel tired after an hour or more. The products they used were very natural and good, your skin can feel it. And the masseuse was amazing too, so be prepared to enjoy a great time there. Highly recommended!

This hotel is in the city. Busy streets but quiet in my room. I watched the sunset between buildings. Good buffet breakfast. Beautiful mid-size swimming pool. Very friendly and helpful staff.

I chose Dar Es Salaam Serena Hotel to stay this time when I visited Dar Es Salaam. The hotel staff was very courteous to give a room in 7th floor with a great view of the sea. The room service was also excellent.

Christmas Special buffets, dinners and room packages. A bit disappointed as when we had lunch on Boxing Day we were only told of the outdoor BBQ section after we had our dessert. The coffee also tasted like instant so wasnt drank, not what you would expect from Serena brand.

Helped myself to the Serena buffet at the Serengeti restaurant and I haven't had a better time this past month. Their staff was courteous and proffesional, their food was well cooked and clean. Now wonder it is a top tier location.

Outstanding service and location if you want a true multinational experience. Quality rooms service and staff. Location central 2 blocks from ferry and central area of Dar. Bathrooms ready for update clean spacious simply dated for the quality and price. I would stay again ❤️❤️

Excellent diversity of nice food. There was a flood in the room due to a clogged drain. But we've been quickly changed the room. There is a yoga class twice per week. This hotel is in two steps from historical museum and botanical garden, as well as from business center.

Not muslim friendly. They have prayer room but unapologetically lack ablution area and the staff are very rude about it.

Hotel with nice amenities and facilities. Nice staff. Nice location, gym, garden. Rooms are too old with old wc, carpets on floor. Needs improvements. Bar and food a little expensive.

I love their buffet. It doesn't matter breakfast, lunch or dinner. The food is amazing! The staff is really friendly and helpful. The hotel itself is so good, you don't have to go out for anything.

My friends and I went for the African evening, it was fantastic, the food and the service I could not fault. We tried a little bit of everything it was really delicious food, the entertainment was a band called B-52 they were also fantastic overall we all had a great night and we will be back.

Charming hotel with immaculate gardens and view of the sea and golf course. Enjoyed the selection of continental and Swahili breakfast. Friendly staff. Only flipside is the bathtubs...but it's understandable given how historic the hotel is.

Wow experience immediately turned into big disappointment! Felt being scammed! Got my phone snatched while walking, I didn’t even plan to go to police because I knew I was not gonna get it back. But receptionists were so kind and even called their hotel internal security and assured me he would take me to police with this own vehicle so that I don’t have to worry with my laptop being stolen again. I was very impressed on how organized they are. But Police took so much time just to make a single report, I even asked him that we just go back to hotel and I don’t care about the report anymore because police made me more furious than the thief. Anyway after we came back, driver made me signed vehicle usage form which I thought was just formality. But voilà, upon check out, they said I have to pay 60000 shillings (26$). I should be informed about it prior and give me an option. If I was informed prior, probably, I would still go or I might just choose to relax at the hotel because I knew I was not going to get it back; but most importantly, to bring a surprise like that while I was already traumatized, it really felt like the hotel scammed me out of my misery, and my experience immediately turned from WOW to big big disappointment! Sent feedback about it manager but no respond. All employees were nice but charging me with my prior consent was a total scam!

Surprisingly peaceful in downtown Dar es Salaam. Staff were generally good and rooms nice though not up to international standards and expectations for this price range. I was very disappointed as there was a piano in the main hall. I am an accomplished pianist and asked if I could play only to be informed that it's only used in the evenings for a specific person because it is a "business hotel and people sleep during the day so they don't want noise to disturb".

Most Executive Hotel I've been to in Dar es Salaam so far. It's quite exotic and culturally themed. The attendants are friendly and quick to serve. It a cool yet vibrant feel. The food is really good. The place is actually adjacent to a golf course. Super clean facilities. Surely on a way to a michellin star. I had this on my last visit.

Beautiful hotel with three restaurants and a lovely atmosphere for working or playing. Breakfast is unreal. Wifi and dinner is pricey, as expected for the atmosphere. Rooms were clean, staff friendly.

On my birthday I went to this hotel to have dinner. I chose the pasta with meat sauce. Upon receiving the meal which was served by itself, I proceeded to eat the plate of food. I noticed there is heavy oil at the bottom of the pasta. Greasy oily meat sauce. The wine I had was decent. The service was excellent. But the pasta I had was terrible.

A huge variety for Sunday brunch. Be sure to reserve on a Sunday, it's packed and good. View from the garden adds a little something too.

Great location, ample parking and renovations makes Serena one of best venues in Dar to host a business event, meeting or a quick coffee session. But like most outdoor seating spaces in Dar es Salaam, the crows cant give guest a break & this is not a Hotel's fault i must add, they are trying.

The hotel is quite massive. The rooms are spacious. But the shower is not exactly a modern one. And I had mosquitos in my room, so make sure your room is well sprayed. The quality of food is great as well as warm welcoming attitude of the staff. The pool and gym are well designed. The interior of changing rooms is very stylish. I also liked the garden area of the hotel.

so far a great experience having stayed more than 3 times at this property already. clean rooms, delicious food, lovely pool and restaurants and pool bar, has an overall nice feeling to it. only downside would be that the food prices can be a little steep.

Gladiola Adventure recommends Dar es salaam Serena hotel for both our Tanzania safaris and Self drive clients. The hotel has great services and the location is accessible from Mwalimu Julius Nyerere International airport, Zanzibar Ferry and those who will be driving from Arusha via Bagamoyo. All our clients have enjoyed their services. Gladiola Adventure also have been using the Arusha Serena, Lake Manyara Serena, Ngorongoro Serena Serengeti Serena and other Serena properties in Serengeti and Zanzibar.

Interiors are a bit aged but still fancy with an exotic vibe. The lunch buffet is quite nice with both outdoor and indoor space. Unlimited liquor! The amount of food options is respectable, and many are tasty. Definitely try the desserts and seafood skewers. Kind of pricy. Would recommend it if you were eating out with friends. (No idea about the hotel part though)

I truly enjoyed my time at Serena. A perfect place to host a business meeting. As it's right at the City. With their affordable prices. It's an ideal place for anyone.

It was an okay place. Customer service was good, friendly staff. I unfortunately did not use the rooms as I went just for a conference. Food was good. They do try with the exotic meals. The desserts are spot on.

An old hotel swahili themed hotel. At a good location near city centre and near the airport. Not on the beach but some rooms are seaview. Next to Gymkhana club for any golfers.

Some of the most friendly staff I have encountered in the hospitality space. The food was very affordable and the recommended cab company drivers make you feel at home on top of driving with excessive caution!

This is a 5 star hotel in the heart of Dar es Salaam CBD. It has great rooms to fit the needs of the middle and high classes. Some rooms have a splendid view on the gardens of the golf course and the Ocean. Their coffee shop is amazing...worth trying a cappuccino there.

Great food and location, the colonial feel is very apparent but the facilities are well maintained. The service is extremely slow. Hated how mean they were with their internet, it's also quite expensive at $10 per hour and terribly slow. Felt like 1997 on dial-up.

Nice gym inhabited by loud locals, encouraged by the person in charge of the gym who talks to members across the room. Otherwise a very well run well kept hotel in a central location.

Dar es Salaam Serena Hotel is a pretty a grand hotel by many standards. The kind of place the high and mighty in society meet over business deals or simply hangout. It truly is serene with natural beauty. Beautiful gardens. Superbe atmosphere with good food too.

Beware.. the link for the „ official hotel website“ takes you to a Nigerian based third party website which is not recognized by the hotel … make sure you go to the correct website to make a booking directly. When I emailed the hotel directly about this, they responded quickly and efficiently.

Serena hotel was a serene place in a dimension of its own. And it's atmosphere seemingly pocketed in the busy work street. It remains picturesque and quiet at all times and the service and security is top quality. Beautiful interior design and wonderful artistry with it's pillars embroidered with mosaics and the walls with portraits of the past picture of the streets just outside it's gate. The history and quality are top tier. I would well recommend.

It's a pity...the customer service is the worst I have ever experienced at ANY hotel in Dar...it's a pity... I would like to point out...since I wrote my review, the Management team at Serena Hotel was gracious enough to reach out to me. I will give Serena Hotel another try and share my suggestions on what can be done differently to improve the Customer service especially on Days they have A LOT of events going on. I would like to thank the Management Team at Serena Hotel - Dar es Salaam for their sincere apologies and effort to rectify the unpleasant experience. I look forward to visiting Serena again soon.
