The food and the location are both really good. I would recommend it to someone who already knows the prices as they don't have a published/printed price list. My shrimp rice I bought for takeaway contained more shrimp shells than actual shrimps. So it seems you have to watch what they put in your takeaway box. Otherwise the food tastes good

In a rapidly developing city with plenty of modern options, Chef's Pride keeps their menu traditionally and proudly East African. The meats are freshly sourced from a local butcher; the lamb I had was sourced that same morning. I had the lamb biryani, and was impressed by the succulence and tenderness of the meat. Be aware that at least in the afternoon, this place was packed with diners, so you may have to wait for a table to open. But the food is most definitely worth the wait. This is an restaurant where locals dine, so you know this is a truly Dar es Salaam establishment.

If your looking for a perfect location to have Lunch OR Dinner, Chefs Pride is the best place in Dar Es Salaam City Center. Their food is fresh and the servings are generously offered. Their fruit juices are freshly squeezed. The Manager and Waiters will take good care of you and ensure all your hunger is gone.

Good food with various options, juices, coffee, ice cream. Place was packed with locals most of the time. Menu is just a placeholder - different foods are already prepared and up for display, you get up and point to what you want.

The food is absolutely delicious! 🤤(Not the best pic but we wanted to tuck in immediately) The portions are massive so don't go overboard while ordering. Quick and friendly service even during rush hour. Highly recommended this place if you're around Dar Es Salaam

Chef's Pride is the Place to taste swahili food and specialities of the west of the Indian ocean. Maandazi, kuskuma (chapati), pilau, biriyani, various michuzi (curries and stews of goat, beef, mutton, seafood...), ugali, bananas .. Here you experience how the swahili dish should feel and taste. Be prepared to share your table if you're alone or two. At lunch this is the family dinings room of the office workers and professionals of the neighborhood. In the evening you may enjoy your table for long time sipping a fresh juice. The place may be rated Genuine Good.

Loved this cozy place though it was very stuffy upstairs. They have special rooms with a.c for hosting parties or meetings etc. Food was tasty enjoyed their biryani and kuku chips. Pizza was ok. It is well located in the center of the town.

Highly recommend for tourists and locals alike. I had the chicken coco and long rice (multi colored- I don't know what it is called!). Also had a really delicious smoothie. Not sure what it's called but it was orange and had seeds in it. My husband had beef (he said it tasted like swiss steak) and the same rice as me. Proportions were huge. $11 USD for a very good meal!

The most worst experience ever had since I am in dar es Salam .the waiter acts like in the jungle .speaking own language with my friend sat next to me instead of speaking English . No good service is like he does you a favour .I pay and first he charges the money by my card without giving me the receipt of what I have got ?then after I pay I got two receipt of the total without seeing what I got ?attaching the photos .where is the owner ? Where is the manager ?you cannot see what kind of people are on your own restaurant?also the was no falafel, hummus on the menu ..is that possibile or the lazy waiter doesn’t care at all .when there is no food in the menu customers should be advised before they sit .

We order rare done stake, and they cooked it well done, asked them to change it and we are told it's all precooked they can not change it. Also the menu on the wall say 25k TS and charge us is 30K TS, waiter is claiming its and old price that is on the wall. If you r not from Tanzania you should not go to this place, your price will be way higher than the locals

One of the best local meals I have enjoyed during my eight trips to Tanzania. Very popular among locals so be ready to wait for a table little while. But it's worth it. I recommend t-bone stake and lemon chicken. Yummy!!

I had been eating here since 1998, have many memories here. Prices were very reasonable and had my belly full always. It has a mix of all crowds, so dont expect etiquettes from other diners

Our taxi driver recommend Chef’s Pride for local Swahili food on our last night in Tanzania and what a treat it was! The rotisserie chicken and mango smoothie were so good that we had seconds for both! And the garlic naan was the best we’ve had. The owner was incredibly gracious and even gifted us with a hot sauce. You’ll definitely want to eat here!

5/5, I Had the Chicken Shawarma and my dad and uncle had the King fish with some fries and they were very delicious. Original arabic taste and not the ones with fries, chicken, ketchup and salad. This one has the original taste and is cooked by a Syrian man who is very nice and attentive. Recommend this place for lunch.

Best luncheon place in the city. It has take away too with best services and tasty food

  • 4/5 Shabbir I. 8 months ago on Google
Food is very good, arabic food mostly, specially their shawarma (chicken and beef both), their mutton mandi, are superb and highly recommended. Mostly overly crowded, and difficult to find space to sit hence much congested, otherwise if it would not that much crowded ambience would have been much better. Also finding a parking place nearby is a troublesome task.

Along all the national parks and heritage sites, this restaurant should be on the to do list of every visitors to TZ.....the food taste is on an other level, you need to experience the place to understand what I am talking about. I mean the first time I was there was in 1998...23 years later the food still AMAZING

One of the best food joints/restaurants in Dar es Salaam. The variety of dishes is absolutely mouthwatering and budget-friendly. The portion size is generous; I often end up taking leftovers home after dining.

  • 2/5 Saori H. 1 year ago on Google
First time visiting this restaurant my husband and I had good experience at the restaurant, like their meal , service and price. However, they messed up our good experience of the restaurant at the second visiting. They gave us a different pricey menu (that’s only for foreigners) and the meals were not good at all. We ordered a fruit plate and visitable soup. The fruit were not cut, like other customers get. And the soup was so small and nothing else in side. That was too expensive for 8000 Tsh. After paying the bills, we found out the price was cheated. We discussed about this issue but they didn’t do anything. We were so disappointed what they did to us.

One of the best public and famous restaurants in dar es salaam to quench your thirsty for some great cookings "the Chef's pride". The place's located near the city centre and normally it's crowded with people, the parking is also limited but there's some other close by place's you can park your transport. There's plenty of dishes to satisfy your tastes 😋

Visited this place during lunch time. The place was almost full, we were lucky to get the seats. Ordered Mutton Biryani and it came to our table within 5 mins. The taste of biryani was too good. Flavored rice with good quantity of mutton. Loved it..!!

Chef’s Pride is a clean and reasonable restaurant. They have friendly staff and fast service. Their food is fresh and delicious and really big portions. Their drinks and shakes are awesome too. I went there once by chance and enjoyed so much that I went there for 3 consecutive days as they have a wide menu and many options to choose from.

They have an assortment of food from all kinds of juicy steak, seafood, vegetables. They have a meal that contains all these different types of meat. Prices of the different meals are also fairly priced.
