Quite great fine dining experience in Dar es Salaam which you won't find anywhere. Very good professional staff, Hot towel service, hot plates, waiters atleast know the dishes served. Though there was a delay might be cause it was busy. Expense wise a bit expensive, but worth the price.

The Chinese food in the menu are Indian style Chinese food. In a nice location, has indoor and outdoor sitting options. Is often packed with groups during weekends. Cash and card accepted. Good service. Has parking space. Would recommend for group dinners/ lunches. Butter and garlic naan, mango lassi, chicken tikka, coconut prawns recommended.

Great Indian food. Try the peshwari naan, coconut prawns with spicy corn as a starter. Good South African and Tanzanian wines, with some Australian, French and Latin American choices too. The Spier Chardonnay goes well with the spicy menu options. Friendly service. You go through the ominously tacky casino entrance only to find a tranquil garden and tastefully decorated restaurant. Will go back!

Always top class, the vegetable Manchurian is sublime. Tandoori mushrooms though.. seemed of the canned variety, the only thing I could find slight fault with really, but they're good nonetheless

I have enjoyed everything I have ordered from this fine restaurant. I know they also serve Chinese dishes, but I cannot imagine there is better Indian food available anywhere. I order more Indian vegetarian dishes than anything else, but this is because the vegetables here are so beautifully seasoned, whether in curries, samosas, or spring rolls. The Alcove 50-50 is a great entrée that allows me to enjoy 2 different curried vegetable dishes; one half portion of spinach and sweetcorn curry, and one half portion of mixed vegetable curry. I really think it is the most delicious mixed vegetable curry I have had anywhere. The Goan fish curry is also delicious, as is the Goan prawn curry. The Rice Jeera is also delicious, and I look forward to the next time I have the Chicken Jeera too. Whether you have a large party, or dinner just for one, you won't be disappointed with the peaceful atmosphere, excellent service, and delicious food. The prices are very reasonable too. I highly recommend The Alcove for any occasion.

Been at your Restaurant at Dar es Salaam. One our very old friends took me and my wife for dinner, when we went to Dar from Muscat (Oman). The location is simply is awesome. The space is so very warm and the food was sumptuous...plus the staff was so very nice.

Delicious food and drinks, highly recommend the cashew vegetables and pina coladas. Remember to specify your spice level preference when ordering, because they don't ask, and the veg manchurian dish was too spicy for me to eat. If you are vegan or dairy free you'll need to choose from the Chinese section as they cannot adapt any of their Indian dishes. The restaurant was very busy when I went (Thursday evening), so there was about an hour wait for food.

Went for dinner, we did a early reservation but they had not reserved a table enough for 12 people. After taking the order took such a long time to get the food, I saw some people were also playing cards until dinner is served. The waiter was also not friendly. Price is on the expensive side but the Food is OK. Worst experience is something else, after dinner we went to the garden, a woman said its not allowed to stay there, so went near the pool to take a photo, same woman came and said not allowed to stay there too, so went to see the so called "cliff" and the same hapenned, we got so unhappy and dissapointed. Then we were heading back through the lobby and was trying to sit in the lobby for a photo and another man came and said not allowed to sit there or take photos. Absolutely the only such disgusting experience I ever had in a 5 star hotel around the whole world. Would not recommend or will visit ever again.

It is the branch to the other restaurant which is inside dar es salaam city. U will only locate it when u enter the casino building and entrance to Karambezi cafe. Expensive food . Service is slow and u may have to wait a bit longer. U can have a look around after u order , have a swimming pool , nice landscaping.. they have a outside garden sitting as well as inside is good and exquisite sofas, dining setup. Crispy corn dish which is a speciality is same in taste at both their restaurants. So u will find the same food here also. All in all expensive and can visit once . Not for regulars

I visited this place with my family and we had a pretty good time. The chicken, rice and greens were great. My wife particularly enjoyed the diced greens and raved about them for days. The wait staff were friendly and spoke English well which is helpful for those with limited Kiswahili knowledge. We plan to go back to try other items.

I visited this place one faithful night to have fun with my friends, so we sat on a table of 5 chairs outside, 3 of my friends went to get drinks so one man came to ask me if the chair is vacant, I told him my friends are coming then he took one chair and said once they come he will return the chair, I said (cool) then when they arrived I told him they are here already he acted as if he didn't hear what I said, I waved at him and said my friends are here already, then he replied and said "what now"? The starters were really tasty. However, we were not happy with the mains: the Indian curries were not fresh and the bread (naan) was very stretchy. We've eaten here before and the food was better, maybe it's just this time that the quality reduced. We were just hoping for food that's as high as their prices.

Decent food though most of the dishes are of Indian cuisine with a few Chinese options in there. Service is excellent, ambience is good and all round great experience.

Food was alright. Indian cuisine. The service was very poor. Almost cold. We had a diabetic patient in the group who suffered a bit as no food - not even papad was served for 45 mins after placing the order. This impacted our experience. Then as we exited the restaurant to walk in the garden - we were stopped although there was no else in the garden - we were told that it is reserved for the hotel guests. So no way to enjoy the atmosphere even if you are visiting the restaurant.

Their restaurant is by the famous sea-cliff of Dar and can accomodate quite a number of visitors. Ps: Once you are there, do remember to order their amazing egg fried rice and lamb stew.
